[SOLVED] how to query which packages installed on /opt

Does anyone know if there's a quick way to find a list of installed packages that touch /opt? My local machine was mounting /opt by autofs, and I didn't realize that a lot of packages actually install to /opt (such as kde). So after installing kde, I realized that I can't really run it unless I free up /opt. But after that, I still need to find out which package(s) need to be installed again. Any help is appreciated.

This will list all currently installed packages that are in /opt
pacman -Ql | grep " /opt" | cut -f1 -d' ' | uniq
Is that what you wanted?

  • How to query which Tcodes specified user used with one day?

    Hi guys:
How to query which Tcodes specified user used with one day?

    Hi
You can use transaction code ST03N.
    1. Go to tx code - ST03N
    2. Under "Workload" you can select your "Instance or Total" so that it expands and shows you Days, Week, Month.
    3. If you want to look at the transactions executed for a particular day, lets say, then double click on any day.
    4. At the bottom left you get "Analysis Views"
    5. Select & expand "User and Settlement Statistics"
    6. Double click on "User Profile"
    7. On the right side of the window you get a list of all the users
    8. Double click on a particular user you want to view the details of.
    9. The new screen will display the "Transactions/Reports Utilized by User XXX"
If you wanna track which users executed a particular transacation then follow this:
    10. In "Analysis Views" expand "Transaction Profile"
    11. Double click on "Standard"
You can view the list of Transactions and Reports.
    12. Double click on the Tx Code or Report you wanna check and it will show the Use of it.
    This will help you.

  • How to find which package is corrupted?

    Hi,
I'm connected to the net throught a broadband connection right for the next few days and I have the following issue: I'm trying to install libreoffice, and for this, I have about 90 Mb of packages to download. Now because the connection is not too stable, and not fast at all, I had a few tries until I got all the stuff downloaded ( 1. here I mean packman downloaded for me; 2.I set aria2 as transfer command to continue the downloads ), but now pacman says that a package is corrupted and can't install.
The problem is that pacman does not say anything about which package is corrupted, the whole output is:
    Targets (18): graphite-1:1.0.3-1 hsqldb-java-1:1.8.0.10-2 hyphen-2.8.3-1 libidl2-0.8.14-2 libreoffice-common-3.5.1-1 libreoffice-en-US-3.5.1-1 libwpd-0.9.2-2 libwps-0.2.2-2 lpsolve-5.5.2.0-2

    (18/18) checking package integrity [##########################################################################] 100%
error: failed to commit transaction (invalid or corrupted package)
Errors occurred, no packages were upgraded.
Is there a way to find which package is corrupted? Because I would not start over the whole download process if it is possible, I'd like to re-download only the corrupted ones.
    I'm using pacman 4.0.2, 32bit.
    Thank you!

Gcool wrote:pacman --debug will tell you which package it is.
Thanks for the tip, unfortunately did not helped me, the package, which was corrupted was not listed by the debug info. I started to manually test each package I downloaded and found the bad one that way. I kind of miss the old behavior, when pacman offered you to delete and re-download a package, if it did not passed the CRC verification.
    But thanks anyway!

  • [Solved] How to specify which version of Java to use?

I have OpenJDK 7 as my default, but I also am trying to use Oracle's Java 7 for a specific program. I have installed jdk7-compat as suggested by the arch wiki, but I am unsure how to use it specifically.
    java -version outputs:
OpenJDK Runtime Environment (IcedTea 2.5.0) (Arch Linux build 7.u60_2.5.0-2-x86_64)
OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM (build 24.60-b09, mixed mode)
so OpenJDK is  still the default, which is good. At the same time, how do I use Oracle's Java for a specific program?
Last edited by TheGuyWithTheFace (2014-07-01 16:50:01)

You have to create a bash script to execute that program, where you define your Java variables. For example, let's supposed your oracle Java is installed at /opt/java_1.6.14/ folder
    #!/bin/bash
    export JAVA_HOME=/opt/java_1.6.14/
    export PATH=/opt/java_1.6.14/bin:$PATH
    <your command>

  • [SOLVED]How to get orphaned packages that aren't optional dependencies

On the pacman tips and tricks wiki page, I see there is a way to get orphaned packages, but this sometimes catches packages that are orphaned but are optional dependencies for other packages. Is there a way to get orphaned packages that are not optional dependencies? Also, I'm not sure if this is the right place on the forums for this question, so please let me know if there is a better place.

    Running
    # pacman -Rns python-docutils cdparanoia
    checking dependencies...
:: abcde optionally requires cdparanoia: Paranoia ripping support
should be enough. Now you know which package is not a real orphan and why.
If you want a fugly script for that:
    $ pacman -Qi $(pacman -Qqdt) | grep -e Name -e "Optional For" | grep -v None | grep -B1 Optional
    Name : cdparanoia
    Optional For : abcde

  • [solved] how to add aur packages

I can't seem to figure out how to install packages from aur ive looked at the official page but clearly I am doing something wrong. I am trying to set up rutorrent.
I added the yaourt but now i'm getting "yaourt" command not found.
    Any help would be great.
    Last edited by Arch-Hoochie (2014-10-07 14:51:04)

I frequently voice a very negative bias against yaourt - so much so that I almost feel guilty about it now that I'm a moderator (almost).
But all biases aside, if yaourt is a good tool for anyone, it is only for those who know how the aur works.  It seems you are not yet familiar with the basics, so a tool like yaourt will be a great hinderance preventing any future learning.
Start out by just downloading the aur-tarballs and use makepkg to build (and even install if you'd like with makepkg -i or makepkg -si).  Once you get the idea of how all the moving parts work, then you can look into a helper tool - but there are *many* beside yaourt.
The fact that many here have ranted about it over and over, yet the archlinux.fr page still advises new users to run the `pacman -Sy` command (which could very easily cause substantial problems) takes the 'almost' out of my first sentence: I am very comfortable publicly expressing my distaste for yaourt.

  • [SOLVED] How to update AUR packages?

    Hi,
I am new to archlinux. a few days ago i installed my first application from the AUR and now I am wondering: How can i update? I believe that I have to use an AUR helper to do that. Is that correct? And which helper should i use? Any recommendations?
    thanx

ok I understand, fetch the tarball again and building it will work. (that already came to my mind actually)
However, for long-term use I kind of want a more convenient solution, so I think I will try cower.
Can anyone tell me how to install cower? At https://github.com/falconindy/cower there is only a zip-file that I can download. The zip file contains the files 'bash_completion', 'config', 'cower.c', 'Makefile', 'README.pod' and 'zsh_completion'. (sorry, but I see no option for including the files in this post) In the README however, there is no information about installation.

  • [Solved] How to list which DNS I am using?

Edit, solution to find which DNS you are using.  Install:
    sudo pacman -S dnsutils
To get the "dig" command.  Then use it:
    dig http://www.google.ca
And at the bottom of the output you will see
    SERVER:
Which is immediately followed by the DNS you are using.
    Thank you x33a.
    Original post:
I'm trying to use Google DNS which are 8.8.8.8, and 8.8.4.4.  I have a pure systemd installation and have the dhcpcd service unit active:
[email protected] loaded active running dhcpcd on eth0
In my /etc/dhcpcd.conf file I have the following:
    # A sample configuration for dhcpcd.
    # See dhcpcd.conf(5) for details.
    # Inform the DHCP server of our hostname for DDNS.
    hostname
    # To share the DHCP lease across OSX and Windows a ClientID is needed.
    # Enabling this may get a different lease than the kernel DHCP client.
    # Some upstream DHCP servers may also require a ClientID, such as FRITZ!Box.
    #clientid
    # A list of options to request from the DHCP server.
    #option domain_name_servers, domain_name, domain_search, host_name
    option domain_name, domain_search, host_name
    option classless_static_routes
    nooption domain_name_servers
    # Most distributions have NTP support.
    option ntp_servers
    # Respect the network MTU.
    option interface_mtu
    # A ServerID is required by RFC2131.
    require dhcp_server_identifier
    # A hook script is provided to lookup the hostname if not set by the DHCP
    # server, but it should not be run by default.
    nohook resolv.conf
    nohook lookup-hostname
    noipv4ll
With the only changes being "nooption domain_name_servers" and "nohook resolv.conf".
Then in my /etc/resolv.conf I have the nameservers:
    # Generated by dhcpcd from eth0
    # /etc/resolv.conf.head can replace this line
    nameserver 8.8.8.8
    nameserver 8.8.4.4
    #nameserver 192.168.0.1
    # /etc/resolv.conf.tail can replace this line
/etc/resolv.conf has had "chattr +i" done to it to make it immutable from changes.
I think I have it all set-up correctly, as in it all works, but I do not know of an explicit command to tell me exactly which DNS I am using.
Last edited by headkase (2012-10-13 14:53:54)

I switched my nameservers over to OpenDNS: http://www.opendns.com/
Because they have a test page: http://www.opendns.com/welcome/
And I got a successful result.  So, to change that all I modified were the nameserver numbers in "/etc/resolv.conf".  So, I assume that I configured "/etc/dhcpcd.conf" correctly.  With the OpenDNS nameservers those now come up as prepopulated in namebench too.  Thanks again, solved.

  • [SOLVED]How to build debian package source in Arch Linux?

I'm porting openssl for sh4 arch.
If I use Arch Linux PKGBUILD, it built failed. (I guess that's caused by there is no asm code for sh4 cpu).
So, I decide use debian's source.
But, is there any one know how to porting debian's package into Arch Linux?
I can apt-get source openssl from other machine.  But I don't know what's the correct step to build it into Arch Linux' structure.
    Solution: refer brebs's PKGBUILD hint.

The source is not hard to find. Look on Debian packages - each package has 2 files, the ".orig", and Debian's diff (which is sometimes not a diff, these days, thankfully because just having a simple "debian/patches" subdirectory available is a little bit easier for us).
Edit: Here ya go, convenient links:

  • [SOLVED] How to set the packager name for an AUR package?

    Hi,
I'm maintaining an AUR package (fspcc), but I don't know how to set the name of the "packager" for that package.
E.g. when you request info about some package
        $ pacman -Qi somepkg
    there is a line
        Packager: Unknown Packager
    that specifies the packager.
How do I set this "Packager" info so that any user installing my package will see what I want?
Last edited by lisztinf (2014-04-13 13:39:43)

    Thanks for the answer.
I guess that when I run
       $ makepkg
in my local build directory, then "mkpkg" will build a package with the "Packager" info set accordingly to my local makepkg.conf.
However, I would like another user - with his own makepkg.conf - to see what I want when installing the package. How can I achieve this?
If I install an official package - say pacman itself - through ABS, I see the "Packager" field properly set for that official package. But certainly this info doesn't come from my local makepkg.conf. I would like the same behaviour for my package. Is it possible?

  • How to find Which package used in Reports

    Hi,
Is there any option to view all the package which used in all the all eul reports. My problem is One report is refreshing tables using package/function/ procedure ...........i which report is doing that ..........I'm having more than 1500 discoverer report and opening all report one by by is not fessible as each having tabs as well.........

    Hi,
You should start from the table that is being updated...
find its referenced objects, you can use :
    select a.owner, name, decode(a.type,'PACKAGE BODY','PACKAGE',a.type),do.status
    from all_dependencies a,
    dba_objects do
    where do.object_name=a.referenced_name
    and do.owner=a.referenced_owner
    and do.object_type=a.referenced_type
and referenced_name = 'xxxxxxxxx'; -<<<<----- put here your table name
This will give you the list of objects referencing the table, try to find the package / procedure / function.
then login to the administrator and try to locate the package in the list of function (you need to go to the register functions screen)
