[SOLVED]Make Pacman think that I have libgl (NVIDIA driver)

Hi,
I've installed my Nvidia driver manualy because my card (NVS 310) do not work with the packages provides by pacman (even in AUR).
Now I have a problem because pacman think I do not have
libgl
and do not allows me to install any graphical tools like libreoffice even if I ignore libgl:
pacman -S libreoffice-fresh --ignore libgl
resolving dependencies...

So my question is: Is there a way to make pacman understand that I have installed libgl manualy so it do not ask me to install it?
Thanks
The possible workaround is to remove my driver manually install any libgl than re-install manualy the driver and ignore libgl in the pacman configuration. But this is REALLY ugly...

Thanks for your reply, that was fast!
Make my own package is definitly the right way to do this and I will when I have some time.
For now I tried the workaround I mentioned before:

And it works!
Thanks again

From the Safari menu bar, select
    Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Extensions
Turn all extensions OFF and test. If the problem is resolved, turn extensions back ON and then disable them one or a few at a time until you find the culprit.

If things seem to be going haywire with your phone, it seems that it MAY be a software issue.
Now, that being said, that does not necessarily mean that it is a virus. Software issues do happen sometimes. It is probably just coincidence.
What you need to do is restore the device using iTunes. This will fix any software issues. After you have done this, you can restore from an iCloud backup.
iCloud does not back up the actual software, so no, the "virus" would not have gotten into the backups.
The link below provides steps on restoring your device using iTunes as well as how to restore from an iCloud backup.

Don't worry! Everything should be back to normal if you follow these steps.

  • [SOLVED] Make Pacman cache packages installed with -U

When installing a package with -U, pacman doesn't cache packages as it does when installing with -S. Is there a way to change this behavior?
I read somewhere that specifying the package's full path and prepending "file://", as in "pacman -U file://path/to/package.pkg.tar.xz", but this often complains of an "invalid or corrupted package (PGP signature)".
How can I make pacman always copy installed packages to the cache?

You can't.  This has been discussed on the bugtracker several times.
    https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/35699
    https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/31243
    https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/15143
    https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/18012
If you're building the packages yourself with makepkg, you can set PKGDEST to your cache in makepkg.conf.  Otherwise you could write a small pacman wrapper that copies the package after installing it.

  • Music stops playing, thinking that headphones have become unplugged, but they have not... suggestions?

New problem for me, 1 year out since purchase.

    Help!

Almost certainly the iTunes library, stored on that PC, of another user (where either you're using that user's Windows login, or iTunes has been set up to share its library across multiple Windows logins).  You may see some of your content as well (that you've purchased from the iTunes store, assuming you've logged in with your Apple ID), but the key thing is that iTunes doesn't really have the concept of "your" library.  Rather, the library that you see will be that defined by the iTunes database on the PC you're running on and the iTunes Media folders in same place.

  • Confirming I have right NVidia Driver

    Hello all!
Basically I am playing World of Warcraft and having low FPS rates in raids (on low setting, 8GB of ram, 2.8ghz quad-core amd), while I know it could just be wine's fault I figured I would want to make sure I have the correct driver installed and working. I have an NVidia GTX 460. I looked at the NVidia wiki page and wasn't 100% on which one i should use. I am using dual monitors if that will make a difference. I don't believe that it's just the card not being able to handle it because I've used it with Windows(7 and 8) and had no issues with high settings (medium on some).
I am not 100% on what info you need but here is some that I think might be useful:
    # pacman -Ss nvidia
    extra/libvdpau 0.6-1 [installed]
    Nvidia VDPAU library
    extra/nvidia 313.30-2 [installed]
    NVIDIA drivers for linux
    extra/nvidia-libgl 313.30-2 [installed]
    NVIDIA drivers libraries symlinks
    extra/nvidia-utils 313.30-2 [installed]
    NVIDIA drivers utilities
    multilib/lib32-nvidia-libgl 313.30-1 [installed]
    NVIDIA drivers libraries symlinks (32-bit)
    multilib/lib32-nvidia-utils 313.30-1 [installed]
    NVIDIA drivers utilities (32-bit)
    NVidia X Server Settings:

OpenGl/GLX information - Direct Rendering: YES
    Antialiasing Settings: Use application settings
    GPU 0 - (GeForce GTX 460)
    PowerMizer: Preferred Mode - Adaptive
If there is anything in wine I should do please feel free to let me know.
    Thank you for your time.

You are using the correct driver for your (nvidia) card. I have the same card in one of my machines.
I am not a trans-gamer, but have you consulted various wiki's on the internet regarding wine + WoW???  (even Archwiki has an entry, although it appears to be out of date)...
    https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/World_of_Warcraft
http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.p … n&iId=1922  (pick whatever version you are using, read instructions / comments / etc)
off-hand are you using directx (slower) or OpenGL (faster) in Wine?
There is also rgl for Wow: http://www.aewi.info/rgl/
which apparently brings substantial FPS improvements, which you could try out too.
..anyway, to answer your question, yeah - it looks like you have the right driver.
but i would also read up on tweaks, hacks and patches for Wine/WoW and the like  - if you want the best performance / settings for the game.

  • Windows 7 seems to think that I have multiple monitors

I have a 34" Vizio LCD TV with RGB port for a monitor on our DTP system. Win 7 Ultimate. Mother board is Gigabyte GA-Z77-DS3H with on-board video which according to Device Manager is an Intel HD Graphics 4000.
Sometimes when I open a program from the task bar it disappears from the screen. I can get it back using the keyboard sequence (which I don't remember at the moment)...but it's a hassle. In addition, after discovering this, I've found that if I have a program
window running in a window after clicking on <Restore down> I can move it off the screen on either side by dragging it on the top bar of the window.
Looking at the Graphics/Resolution settings for the Intel, it shows two monitors: 1)the Visio as VO370M and 2) Display Device on VGA. Could that be the source of the problem? I've tried every combination of settings for <Multiple displays> but nothing
    fixes it.
Can anyone suggest what's up and how to fix it?
    TIA
    Aboonah

I followed the link and tried it...but no effect.
I've never used dual monitors, so am totally unfamiliar with the process. But as I mentioned, the <Change the appearance of your displays> window shows my monitor as #1 in the <Display> selection ... #2 shows <Display device on: VGA> .
I just looked on my laptop, also running Win7 Ultimate, it only shows one display in that location. I think it says <Mobile display device>.  There is no number 2.
But it all of this may be moot, because I tried to move the <Change the appearance...> window sideways off the screen both right and left and it let me do it. So it seems that that must be normal behavior.
If so, how do I keep my MS Virtual Machine installation of Virtual XP from always flying completely off the screen when I click on it at the taskbar?
Sorry, I know that's interjecting a new question, but it's the reason I originally questioned the dual monitor error.
    TIA

  • I will think that I have closed Firefox, I will go to open it again and I will get a message that it is still running on my system and my system must first be restarted. I am using a special Laptop desk for it. Sorry so long.

I've been on it a bunch lately, plus I tend to watch a lot of movies, back to back, streaming, from Netflix. My laptop was hacked so badly that it was taken back to factory settings and I now use Glary Utilities and CCleaner every two weeks. I use AVG as antivirus. Monthly I run Glary, CCleaner, Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, Disk Cleanup and Dfrag.
I haven't given my computer a break to breathe. I've been updating my information, like I said already, on all those websites, which is like neverending.
I do have to use Internet Explorer for some things, but Firefox has actually been staying open on my system a lot more than Internet Explorer has been crashing. And I swear, there are no indicators to me, other than opening up Task Manager, I suppose, and I haven't done that, that Firefox is staying open. It truly is looking totally closed. Yet my laptop is giving me this weird message stating that it isn't, so I click Restart, and open it again, then go on my merry way with my work in Firefox.
I have no idea how to tell if my plug-ins are old or not cooperating with my current, updated version of Firefox.
Can somebody dummy their answer down, please? I will give you more details if you ask for them. I don't know what other details to give. I did read through the other options, and this is what fit me the best, I thought. Who knows. Thanks, Tigerstripe

The proper way to close Firefox is through the File menu "Exit" or the equivalent with the Firefox button.
More detail in item '''#38 Firefox already running '''
    of
[http://dmcritchie.mvps.org/firefox/firefox-problems.htm#fx4interface Fix Firefox 4.0 toolbar user interface, problems (Make Firefox 4.0 look like 3.6) (#fx4interface)]
Firefox already running, to properly shutdown Firefox when closing the last window use File → Exit/Quit (or Firefox button → Exit). Closing Firefox with the [X] in the upper right corner closes the window ("Ctrl+W") but that does not necessarily close Firefox if it has subtasks running. If you want to close and reopen Firefox use the "Restart" within Add-ons if you made a change requiring a restart, or install "[https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/restartless-restart/ Restartless Restart]" ("Ctrl+Alt+R") which will allow you to take Firefox down and restart without having to check the Windows Task Manager to see if Firefox first actually ended. • Quicktime installer thinks that I have a newer version installer

I have tried everyone of the suggestions concerning
    uninstalling/reinstalling quicktime. The net result
is that now the latest quicktime only installer (7.1.3.100)
fails with the message "A newer version of quicktime is
already installed". My OS is Windows XP SP2 Build 2600.
Thanks in advance for any help.

I had iTunes (not sure of the version any more). I had problem
with ipod not being recognized. I tried to upgrade iTunes.
The installer seemed to work, but would not run. I then
want to do the installations piece by piece, and that is
when the problem with QuickTime became apparent. At this
point, according to add/remove programs, I have neither
    iTunes, nor QuickTime.

  • How can I make Firefox recognise that I have changed the DNS servers to use?

After I edit /etc/resolv.conf to make my computer use more reliable DNS servers, Firefox doesn't notice until I restart it. How can I make Firefox notice the change without restarting it?

I discovered that I can do this by ticking Work Offline in the File menu, and then immediately unticking it again.
(I believe this mimics what would happen if the operating system disconnected and reconnected from a wireless network, which would be a situation where Firefox would need to check for new DNS servers. So that explains why it works.)

  • Lion Installer thinks that my internal boot hard drive "is used for time machine backups"

I recently installed a new hard drive on my MBP. It's been running fine, but now I'm running into trouble when I tried to install Lion!
The download worked just fine. But when I try to choose a disk to install Lion onto, my one and only hard drive (internal, boot disk) "is used for Time Machine backups" and is grayed out! I can't click it, I can't customize the installation or do anything except go backwards through the license agreement and such.
No, I do not use my internal drive as a Time Machine. But somehow, even after I've disabled Time Machine, it keeps thinking I do! Time Machine is my menu bar is grayed out, but I can click "Browse other Time Machine disks" and for some reason my boot disk comes up! ("(My name)'s MacBook Pro on 'Untitled 1') I've never used this disk as a Time Machine!
I have a feeling that this is somehow related to my using Super Duper to clone my old hard drive during the upgrade process.
Is there a way to remove the Time Machine files from my boot disk or otherwise convince Lion to install? I've already repaired my disk permissions in Disk Utility. What else can I do?
Thank you in advance. This is very frustrating!

At some point, probably accidentally, your internal HD was selected as a destination for Time Machine.   Even if that was immediately changed, it had already created a Backups.backupdb folder at the top level of the drive.
As long as that's there, OSX thinks you're trying to install OSX on your backup drive.  Just delete that folder.
