[solved] MOC submitting %b as album name to last.fm

I'm using moc-1:2.5beta1-1 and lastfmsubmitd-1.0.6-7. After following https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Moc to setup scrobbling to last.fm, everything was fine, expect that the album name for any song submitted was "%b".
I managed to figure out a fix. In the wiki it is told that
OnSongChange = "/usr/lib/lastfmsubmitd/lastfmsubmit --artist %a --title %t --length %d --album %b"
should be added to ~/.moc/config. However this line is wrong (at least for me), and instead it should be (%b is changed to %r):
OnSongChange = "/usr/lib/lastfmsubmitd/lastfmsubmit --artist %a --title %t --length %d --album %r"
After adding this changed line to ~/.moc/config everything is working well.
The main reason I'm posting this is that I think the wiki should be changed. However, I don't understand the situation well enough to be confident that there actually is an error. Could someone with more experience confirm an edit should be made?

I had the same problem and your solution fixed it. Thanks.
After looking in .moc/config here's what i found:
# Run the OnSongChange command when a new song starts playing.
# Specify the full path (i.e. no leading '~') of an executable to run.
# Arguments will be passed, and you can use the following escapes:
# %a artist
# %r album
# %f filename
# %t title
# %n track
# %d file duration in XX:YY form
# %D file duration, number of seconds
# No pipes/redirects can be used directly, but writing a shell script
# can do the job.
# Example: OnSongChange = "/home/jack/.moc/myscript %a %r"
Obviously %r is the correct escape for the album so the wiki page should be updated.

  • How do I change artwork and album name for a playlist?

I can't figure out how to do this:
I like to make cd-length playlists (essentially "mix cds") with songs that I own. I make new artwork for the mix cd, and for categorization, I like to change the Album Name and Album Artist to whatever I've named the mix (i.e., "songs about trains").
However, if I do this, the individual songs no longer appear with their original albums, since I've changed the info on them.
So essentially what I want to do is make a copy of the songs. I don't mind if they take up extra space on my hd. How do I do this easily?
I know I can just burn the cd and rip it, but then I have to rename every single song, which is a pain.
Is there an easier way? I imagine many other people like to make mix cds like me...
    Thanks.

The reason I need to change the file name is we want the breadcrumbing name to change and the breadcrumbing is linked to the file name.
I don't understand this reason. How would changing the file extension solve your breadcrumb issue? Why don't you explain the issue in more detail.

  • Itunes can no longer find artist or album name

I have not seen this exact problem on the forum. I upgraded itunes yesterday to 10 and then when I synced my ipod touch, almost all of the artist names and album names disappeared. I tried several times to get info and this retrieved some of the information but now it says that it can't get the track information for music not purchased from the itunes store or ripped through itunes. The problem is that all of my music was either purchased from itunes or ripped through itunes except one album. Does anyone have this same problem or can anyone tell me how to fix it?

Locate and remove the iPod Photo Cache folder(s). A new one will be recreated the next time you sync Photos with your iPhone, iPad, or iPod. Deleting this folder will not remove the original images from your library, but may solve your sync problem.

  • Wierd Menu bug-only allows access to songs with album name

So I was noticing this when I was trying to play some music by an artist that I have music for, 2 with the same album name, and several more without an album name. the thing is, when I scroll to that artist in the browse by artist menu, it goes straight to the two songs with the same album name, never allowing me to get to the songs without an album name by selecting the "all" albums option. This is also a problem with songs without an artist. Besides putting in some random album name like "_", what can I do to fix this?

You have solved it yourself by "" !
There will probably be a software update from Apple that will fix this as several earlier threads have mentioned.

Just updated to itunes 12.1.0.71 - big problem - can no longer access the legacy "Get Info" where you could change multiple files, easily add artwork, add album name for TV show, and much more. In previous iTunes 12 you'd right click and hold shift key and be able to get to it. Anyone figured this out?

The "legacy" metadata editors, for which there was a "back door" in iTunes 12.0, have gone from 12.1.  However, the revised editors in 12.1 provide access to (almost) all the metadata elements that were available in iTunes 11, albeit in a different layout and with some additional constraints based on media kind.  Some users have / will have an issue with the statement that "Get Info has been completely redesigned in iTunes 12 to focus your attention only on what’s necessary for the selected item" since that removes some metadata elements that people may have been using in creative ways.  iTunes 12.1 basically gives you access to the fields that Apple think are necessary ... .  Some of the things that have been excluded by this rule:
track and disc number fields for video media kinds
show and episode fields for music
description tab for audiobooks made up of more than one file
Obviously the first two examples can be regarded as "overloading" the metadata elements - i.e., using them in ways that the designers didn't intend - but given that some users do find valid cases for this it's a shame that they've been deprecated in the new UI.  There are couple of workarounds:
in songs view (or any of the other columnar views), you can still select any fields to display, independent of media kind, and these can be edited (though only one at a time) by double-clicking in the relevant "cell"
you can (temporarily) change the media kind of an item (or group of items) to get access to metadata elements that would otherwise be inaccessible.
It may be worth submitting an issue via https://www.apple.com/feedback/itunesapp.html - I can't see it as a huge development task to have a user preference to switch between "show all fields" and "filter fields based on media kind".
One other oddity/irritation is that some of the tabs don't, by default, show all the available fields - you need to scroll up/down to access them or to expand the window by dragging on one of its corners.  Fortunately, the latter seems to be persistent - once you've done this to make all the fields visible the editor will open at the same (larger) size when opened again.

  • Photos album names not syncing with iPhone

I'm having trouble with the new Photos application.  I've renamed several of my album names on the app, but in iTunes the changes are not being recognized and thus not syncing to my iPhone either.
Separately, several albums have "x" number of photos in them, but when I sync that album to my phone less than "x" photos actually flow into the album.  It's frustrating.
I have rebooted everything (phone, computer, etc.) and I'm running the latest version of all software, so those basic fixes will not work here.  Any ideas?!?  Thanks in advance for your help...

  • N97 mini, deleted music files but album names stil...

Hi, I deleted all the "unsatisfactory" music that was preloaded on my e71 mini using the delete function in the music player and it said the files were deleted but it still shows the album names.
I read on these forums that this can be solved by deleting private\101FFC31 and
private\101ffca9 and refreshing the library but I cannot even locate these files.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!

    Hi there,
This worked for me. on N97 mini.  You may have to search for the files. It works for music and podcasts. If you cant do it, you could put the music back in and delete it again.
    * Firstly, connect your phone to a PC via USB.
    * Choose Data Transfer (a.k.a. Mass Storage). Do not select PC Suite because you won’t be able to browse protected folders in PC Suite mode.
    * Open Windows Explorer on your PC.
    * Go to \private\101FFC31 on the phone’s folder.
    * There, you should be able to find the mpxv1.mpd (for MP3) and pcv5.mpd (for AUDIO PODCAST)
    * Goto \private\101f8857\Cache
    * Goto \private\101ffca9
    * In all the 3 folders delete all the files Not the FOLDER
    * Now refresh ur music library

  • Folder and Album names onto CD

Please bear with me.  I did this before and now I can't figure out how.  Such are the ravages of aging brains.
I'm trying to copy the music from my old vinyls to CDs I can play in my car.  I have software and a USB connection that let me get the music onto my computer in MP3 form.  Plays back OK on the computer.  I created a playlist in iTunes with a bunch of songs and used iTunes to burn the music onto a CD.  Works fine.
Here's the problem:  I have 116 songs on one CD that display a title when they play, but there is no other organization.  I did this once before with a bunch of other albums and when I playback the display shows a folder name and an album name.  That way I can skip an entire album or artist easily to get to what I want instead of advancing song by song through dozens and dozens.
The new CD I created doesn't have that info, just Unknown Folder or Unknown Album.  Looking at the Properties of the mp3s I created, all the Details/Media are filled in, i.e., Artists, Album Artist, Album, even Year, #, Genre and Length.
    What am I missing?

    Lucky Eddie,
You are remembering correctly.  Before you burn the MP3 CD, sort the playlist by Album.  That will cause iTunes to burn the MP3 CD with the songs in an Artist/Album structure.
For more information, see this document:
iTunes: How to set the play order of songs on an MP3 CD
Look especially at the section "How to burn by album."

  • Why does iTunes show tracks that I've ripped from a single CD as individual tracks with individual albums all with the same album name?

I've looked all the data about each track in terms of album name and other seemingly relevant pieces of stuff, but whenever I look at my songs by albums, it still shows these tracks individually. It's like the same album is repeated over and over instead of the album appearing once with all the tracks listed beneath it.

EG. A CD upload has all of the tracks appearing as indivual alumbs. But as its not physically on the computer anymore I dont seem to be able to do anything about it.  Is there away for me to access cloud and rectify this? or manage it from a device?
    Thanks
You can edit the "metadata" of the tracks in the cloud just as you would if the tracks were physically on your computer. Hightlight the tracks of the album you want to edit, do a Get Info..., edit "metadata," click OK.

  • ITunes Get Artwork:  "Artwork for [album name] cannot be found.  You do not have permission to access the requested resource."

I just installed iTunes 10.5 (latest version as of 11 Jan 2012), onto a computer running Windows 7 Ultimate x64.  I loaded my music library into it, it compiled the list and separated them by album.  But even though I'd assigned most of the albums artwork through my Zune management software (a Microsoft product), almost none of them populated into iTunes.  So I went through and started asking the software to try to find album artwork where possible.
I did this a few times album by album, then I decided to select multiple albums and see what happened.  No problems.  Then I selected all of the albums I had--about 600 in all--and asked it to get artwork.  It seemed to process for a bit, then came back with the error, "Artwork for [album name] could not be located.  You do not have permission to access the requested resource."  I tried this on several individual albums, only to receive that same error.
The very first time I did it, I was told I needed an account with the iTunes store to make it work, so I signed in using an old Apple ID (the account had been inactive for so long it had been locked for security, I unlocked it and that seemed to be that).  Then I did what I described above.
The weird thing--to me--is that I can still add artwork to the albums manually if I want to, from imagery stored locally on my own computer.  The only thing it seems to have a problem with is when I ask it to go find artwork from the iTunes store.
Do I need to uninstall iTunes and then reinstall it?  Did something go wrong with the process of authorizing the computer to work with the iTunes store?  Do I need to de-authorize and then re-authorize the computer?  Could this be something related to Windows permissions on the iTunes library?

Right on about how to reset the warnings, it was exactly that.
I went through the steps to let iTunes through Windows Firewall, but still get the same problem when I access the iTunes store (and even though I followed the steps in the help file to the letter, I notice it still says iTunes is NOT enabled for it).  And now, thanks to the re-enabled warnings, when I try to get it to download artwork for single albums, this is what I get:
"Artwork for [album name] could not be found.  An unknown error occurred (-50)."

I then did File >  Print and selected Album Listing.
When I did this it did display the albums but also all the songs on each album.
I would like to have the album names only
After you click "Album Listing," you will see a "Theme" pulldown menu that gives you the choice of "Songs by Album" or "List of Albums."  Choose the latter.

My music is on a nas. Loaded using windows media player in WAV.
When I import into Itunes only the record apears, no Album name etc
How can can I see all the details

Information is often stored as tags embedded in the file.  WAV does not support tagging. I don't know how WMP works but iTunes keeps its own database about media.  For many audio formats, track information will be stored both in iTunes' database and in the file itself as tags.  With formats such as mp3 most tags (not all) will 'travel' with the file when copied.  This does not happen with WAV where the information is only stored in the player application's database.
