[SOLVED] Neverwinter Nights missing shared library / audio

I cannot run Neverwinter Nights, having followed the instructions here: http://nwn.bioware.com/downloads/linuxclient.html.
$ ./nwmain
./nwmain: error while loading shared libraries: libGL.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

libc.so.6 => /usr/lib32/libc.so.6 (0xf7544000)
/lib/ld-linux.so.2 (0xf76ee000)
I'm using the proprietary ATI drivers, fglrx, and have had other games such as OpenArena running pretty perfectly.
The shared libraries do exist:
$ ls /usr/lib/ | grep libGL
libGL.so
libGL.so.1
libGL.so.1.2
libGLU.so
libGLU.so.1
libGLU.so.1.3.070900
libGLw.so
libGLw.so.1
libGLw.so.1.0.0
Could the error I'm getting be because I'm running x86_64?

  • [SOLVED] Neverwinter Nights Diamond - Linux native client - frozen.

    Hi folks.
I have installed Neverwinter Nights Diamond edition as a native Linux client using this HOWTO (with some of my own modifications) to achieve the goal. It worked fine.
Basic idea was to install the game from the DVD media using wine, then download all the Linux related files / patches and unpack overwriting the existing files in the folder just like described in the howto. It worked really superb including the movies and then it stopped working.
I have struggled to get it back to work again as there was no error...
When I tried to start game from terminal I was getting this:

and the game would froze... I mean there was no reaction. The terminal output just stopped. Game didn't even started... SO I googled for hours trying to come up with the way to troubleshoot the NWN Linux client and I got nada... zip, zero, big bobkas... There was something mentioned about syslog / messages but there was nothing in system logs that would indicate what was broken... Last night I could not sleep. It was 6 am and I was still up. Went for a quick cigarette and when I came back I have decided to try one thing...
Here are few more details before I will tell You what I did.
    My installation folder:
    /media/Disk_2/Crossover/Neverwinter_Nights
    Launching file:
    nwn.sh
    contains this:
    #!/bin/sh
    cd /media/Disk_2/Crossover/Neverwinter_Nights/
    ./nwn
and then the file that's being called:
    nwn
    contains this:
    #!/bin/sh
    # This script runs Neverwinter Nights from the current directory
    export SDL_MOUSE_RELATIVE=0
    export SDL_VIDEO_X11_DGAMOUSE=0
    # If you do not wish to use the SDL library included in the package, remove
    # ./lib from LD_LIBRARY_PATH
    export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=./lib:./miles:$LD_LIBRARY_PATH
    export LD_PRELOAD=./nwmovies.so
    export NWMOVIES_GRAB_HACK=1
    export MALLOC_CHECK_=0
    # DisableSound=1
    ./nwmain $@
so this file calls the hard-coded file:
    nwmain
in the main folder of the game.
So last night I did this. Opened 2 terminal windows. In first of them I ran:
    su
followed by root password and then:
    pacman -S gdb
and I have accepted installation of the debugger.
In the second window I have opened the game directory:
    cd /media/Disk_2/Crossover/Neverwinter_Nights/
    and then I ran:
    export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=./lib:./miles:$LD_LIBRARY_PATH
to make sure I have all the libraries necessary for the game to work loaded. (Notice that this is the same line that can be found in the
    nwn
file if You need to modify this line do it). Next:
    gdb ./nwmain
and then when I got the:
    (gdb)
    prompt I typed in:
    run
    followed by punching enter.
This gave me the following results:
    [andrzejl@wishmacer ~]$ cd /media/Disk_2/Crossover/Neverwinter_Nights/
    [andrzejl@wishmacer Neverwinter_Nights]$ export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=./lib:./miles:$LD_LIBRARY_PATH

At first I got stupid... I have started reinstalling packages like
    glibc
but that took me nowhere either... and then it hit me...
    #6 0xb51a398e in ?? () from /usr/lib/libtxc_dxtn.so
I have installed this package from aur several days ago... could that be it?
    I ran:
    pacman -R libtxc_dxtn_s2tc
in the first terminal with root privileges and the game started normally when I clicked the NWN icon...
    I need the
    libtxc_dxtn
package as I am running Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell in the Crossover so I found this package and
    makepkg -s ./
    and installed it.
All works fine now. Both games are running ok.
Sorry for the long post but I wanted to show how the Neverwinter Nights Linux client can be debugged in case of trouble.
Hope someone will find it useful.
    Regards.

In general I wouldn't advise using any libraries from another distro. Of course you could if you know what you're doing, but who has the time, eh. Glad you got it solved.
Hm, I suppose I have to reopen the thread.
A few hours ago, I thought that I have solved the problem, but it appears, in many of the times started, video initialization fails, and it's nearly the same as before: Sound now always seems to work, but graphics might be totally black, somewhat dim, or frozen. Starting it several times in a row, and I get a broken game half of the time, and I can't predict when.
I mean, it has got better altogether, because the rest of the time I have a working game!
At the moment, I do not use any third-party libs. The reason must lie somewhere in an ArchLinux package...

  • [SOLVED] Error while loading shared library libboost_system

Edit: I have the command-not-found interface from pkgfile installed.  That explains the xx above.

    pactree --reverse boost-libs
told me that AUR package command-not-found was dependent on this.
I removed command-not-found (which I don't really need after putting in the pkgfile bash "command-not-found" hook)  The AUR command-not-found more than likely did not work.
I think I discovered this a while back, but couldn't make the connection of what was going on.  Still confused but happily arching away.

  • [SOLVED] Black Screen in Neverwinter Nights

I'm trying to get Neverwinter Nights Platinum (4 CD version) working, using these instructions.  When I run the nwn script however, I get a black screen.  The sound is working but the screen is black.  I'm running 64-bit arch but I've installed lib32 so I don't know what the problem is.  Here is the content of my nwn script:
    #!/bin/sh
    # This script runs Neverwinter Nights from the current directory
    export SDL_MOUSE_RELATIVE=0
    export SDL_VIDEO_X11_DGAMOUSE=0

Thank you for pointing me in the right direction.  I finally got it to work.
In case anyone else ever needs detailed instructions, this is what I did:
I copied usr/lib/libSDL-1.2.so.0.11.3 into my NWN lib directory: home/user/nwn/lib
I changed directory into my NWN directory: cd /home/user/nwn
    I created a symbolic link to sdl: ln -s libSDL-1.2.so.0.11.3 lib/libSDL-1.2.so.0

  • Can't load shared library, libgpg-error missing?

Right, so this morning I decided to try out Cinnamon. I booted into Arch, logged into GNOME, installed cinnamon from the repositories, and did a system upgrade. I then rebooted. I select Arch Linux from GRUB, everything is working fine, but GDM won't load. And there are some strange error messages I've never seen before on the screen. Hmm. So, apparently, the journal service failed to start:
    /dev/sda1: recovering journal
    /dev/sda1: clean, 260391/7782400 files, 2855892/31099729 blocks
[ 2.896956] systemd[1]: Failed to start Trigger Flushing of Journal to Persistent Storage.
[ 2.902798] systemd[1]: Failed to start Trigger Flushing of Journal to Persistent Storage.
[ 2.903928] systemd[1]: Failed to start Journal Service.
[ 2.904007] systemd[1]: Dependency failed for Trigger Flushing of Journal to Persistent Storage.
[ 2.904798] systemd[1]: Failed to start Journal Service.
[ 3.092906] microcode: failed to load file amd-ucode/microcode_amd_fam15h.bin
So, I figure I need to do a bit of troubleshooting, and I need to disable GDM, since it doesn't want to start. So I boot into my installation media, arch-chroot into my newly mounted partition, and try to disable GDM with systemctl disable gdm.service. Well, apparently, systemctl is having trouble loading a shared library, because it then spits out this error message:
systemctl: error while loading shared libraries: /usr/lib/libgpg-error.so.0: file too short
So, I think perhaps that a library has magically gone missing and I try to reinstall it, but to no avail:
    pacman -Sv libgpg
pacman: error while loading shared libraries: /usr/lib/libgpg-error.so.0: file too short
I'm very confused at this point, I haven't the slightest idea what I did. Sorry about the lack of logs, I haven't found anything about this from Google or these forums. I have no idea what logs would be relevant here, as I have no idea what's going on. Any help, or suggestions on which logs may be relevant, would be highly appreciated. Thanks!

oops.  Two follow ups, first it seems you got that before my edit to at the -l flag to the second ls, I was curious if you still had the package in your cache, whether it was the right version, and whether it was the right size (poor man's checksum (1)).  It's there, and it's the right version, but I'm curious on the size too.
The second follow up was that I hadn't accounted for the symlink, so the second command should really be as follows
    ls -l /usr/lib/libpgp-error.so.0.10.0
as pacman says it's too short, I'm curious *how* short.  Is it an empty file, or does it look like the right size which would indicate other corruption, or is it just short.
EDIT (1):  I suppose while were at it we may as well get a real checksum.  Here's mine on the package cache file, yours *should* match
    $ md5sum /var/cache/pacman/pkg/libgpg-error-1.12-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.xz
    602a18784e9916e1a4d13b10de6074aa /var/cache/pacman/pkg/libgpg-error-1.12-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.xz
If yours matches that, the cause of this problem may remain a mystery, but the solution could be to reinstall that package.  I suspect this will be the solution regardless though.  And if you have a live media it might be easiest to just use pacman from the live system with your system as a target, and reinstall libgpg-error.  If you don't have a live media, then you *might* have to uncompress the package manually.

  • Missing header files when importing a shared library with labview 8.6?

    Hi all,
I want to import a .dll into my .vi program but I am not able to do it...
I have created the dll  following the ni website tutorial
    http://zone.ni.com/devzone/cda/tut/p/id/3303#toc2
Once the dll has been created, I have tried to import it with
    Tools-Import-Shared Library(dll)
After parsing the header file appears an error like this one:
void __cdecl Zdmt(LVBoolean *stop, double P, char channelName[],
TD1 *errorIn, TD14 *FFTOptions, TD12 *Calibration, char FileName[],
int32_t minRecordLength, TD26 *InstrumentHandler, LVRefNum sessionRefArray[],
LVRefNum *queueIN, TD1 *errorOut, LVBoolean *averagingDone,
HWAVES LastRecordFetched, TD24 *Impedance, TD17 *ColeColeCluster,
TD18 *FFTcluster, TD5 *InstrumentHandleOutputCluster, LVRefNum *queueOut,
int32_t *Acquired, TD6 *FreqTimeInfoCluster, double *averagesCompleted,
        int32_t len);
The following symbols are not defined:
    LVBoolean; int32_t; LVRefNum;
Undefined symbols can prevent the wizard from recognizing functions and parameters. To correct this problem, check the header file to determine if you must add predefined symbols. Click the Back button to return to the previous page of the wizard to add a preprocessor definitionsl (for example, "NIAPI_stdcall = __stdcall" or "NIAPIDefined = 1").
The following header file was not found in the specified header file or one of the referenced header files:
    -  extcode.h
To fix, click the Back button to go to the previous page and add the header file path to the Include Paths list.
I have replaced the first line #include "extcode.h" of the dll header file for #include "C:\Program Files\National Instruments\LabVIEW 8.6\cintools\extcode.h" that is the full path where the header file is located. However, new libraries seems to be missed:
    -  stdint.h
    -  MacTypes.h
Does anybody know what I have to do??
Any help will be really appreciated,
    Regards,
    Benjamin

If you use any of the LabVIEW cintools headers, they reference other headers too. The import wizard is written in a way that it simply skips parsing datatypes that can not be resolved due to missing header files.  If your functions you want to import references such datatypes then you get an according error about any include files the wizard could not load, otherwise not. The wizard can not know which of the missing header files is the problem since it obviously doesn't know what would be in those header files.
The LabVIEW cintools headers are multiplatform, meaning they evaluate various compiler predefined defines to determine which platform they are included in. The import library wizard does not define any specific defines, since it is not really a compiler. So you have to define them. And they get adapted with each new LabVIEW version to support new compilers and compiler versions, so the defines described in the link in the first post do not have to be correct for cintools headers in newer LabVIEW versions.
All in all writing DLLs that interface to LabVIEW cintools headers should not be done by writing them and then importing them using the wizard but instead you should write the VI and create the Call Library Node, then let LabVIEW create a template C file from the context menu of the Call Library Node and copy that into your C sources and fill in the functions from there.

    gcc: 3.4.5
    glib: 2.2.5
    Java 1.5.0_06
g++ compiler options for JNI and shared libraries:
    g++ -Wl,-E -fPIC -shared ...
There are multiple bugs on Java bugs database regarding C++ ABI incompatibility between Java binaries and stdc++ libraries linked with native code. But I could not find any conclusions on these bugs. Only plans/suggestions to recompile Java on new gcc. These bugs were quite old (regarding Java 1.3, 1.4). Now 1.6 is available but still there is same incompatibility. Maybe I am missing something and there is a way to fix this problem? Like to use specific gcc/glib versions for compilation? How people solve such problems? Any help is appreciated.

It isn't any different; the commands are the same. You can find the exp executable in tehe $ORACLE_HOME/bin directory.

  • App's are not appearing in iTunes on Shared Library

I have Mac and had the iTunes library stored on my profile. I then moved the entire library following Apple's KBASE to the shared folder, and pointed mine and my girlfriends iTunes preferences to the shared library.
Everything on my end seems to work just fine. But with her library, when she syncs her iPad or iPhone, none of the App's are stored in iTunes. It will say they are syncing, every time a device is connected, but the Applications tab that appears for each device is blank, as well as the Applications directory on the top left of iTunes.
In the Directory ~Users/Shared/iTunes Music/Mobile Applications I can see all of my App's, but none of her App's appear. I have tried spotlight searching for an App name that is specific to her devices with no luck.
I have ensured her iTunes account is authorized on her profile. All of her app purchasing has been done from the device itself, so she needs them to sync back to iTunes. I am able to go to File>Add to iTunes library, and import my Apps into her library. But even when downloading an App, directly from the iTunes store on her account, they do no appear in her iTunes Library.......I can't seem to figure out what piece of this puzzle is missing????? Any suggestions would be much appreciated

I solved the issue. Her profile permissions on the Mobile Applications folder for some reason was set to read only. Once I set the permissions for her user account to Read and Write, I was able to download an App and sync her devices, with the Apps syncing back to her iTunes library

  • IPad mini losses playback controls/capabilities using shared library content videos

While accessing my shared "authorized" video library on my MacBook Pro, using the latest iTunes version (as of this submission), with my sparkling new iPad mini, the playback controls simply disappear usually after a few minutes, i.e. no progress bar, buttons for stop/start/pause/"done".
The video stream from the shared library cannot be stopped without the on-screen controls so we either attempt to turn off the unit (pressing the top on/off button) or (usually) press the home button after which the video stream/app stops then return to the expected ipad screen but the residual sound stream will continue to run indefinitely.
Most of the time, we hit the home button to end the video playback then wait for the sound stream portion to end which on average takes up to 1-5 minutes to stop completely.
    This is repeatable too.
    SUMMARY:
1). Without power cycling, we can play a video from the shared librar
2). then wait long enough for the video controls to "go missing" or again go unresponsive
3.) then press the home button which returns you to your normal iPad screen
4.) but the sound stream portion will take a while to take its course before ending.
Also, we gave power-cycling between issues but the each and every time, the shared library video playback inevitably ended up with same results.
iPad mini with iOS 6.1.3 factory , wifi only unit with legitimate software, etc. I.e. no jailbreak nonsense.
Any suggestions?  Or is this a glitch/bug which needs addressing?  Or a simple setting on the unit?
    Thanks in advance!!!

I have nearly the same problem, but with an iPad 3rd generation. The symptoms are exactly the same, just a different device.
You documented the problem well, I can only add that resetting and reloading did not solve the problem for me.

  • Failure to build LabVIEW application on Linux using "Shared library"

In order to create a LabVIEW application on linux without an X display, I complied the LabVIEW VI using the Linux Shared Library. I did this by right clicking on Build Specification and selecting New >> Shared Library, and in the Advanced section, checking the box labeled Use embedded version of run-time engine. At the end of the build process, a message came up informing that the build was unsuccessful, with the following message:
"Error 127 occurred at System Exec: sh: gcc: command not found
The error code is undefined. No one has provided a description for this code, or you might have wired a number that is not an error code to the error code input."
I had no compling the LabVIEW VI in the normal fashion, so am confused about what the problem is.
    Solved!

    Hi Julian,
gcc is a C and C++ compiler on Linux.  An easy way to check if it is installed is to open a terminal and type "gcc", if the command is recognized then the package is already installed and the problem must lie elsewhere.  If this distrobution of Linux has a package manager included then it should be displayed in there as well.  If not then it could point to it being not installed or some dependency is missing making it not accessible from the command line.  Here is a link that should hopefully step you through installing gcc with Redhat: http://www.cyberciti.biz/faq/centos-linux-install-gcc-c-c-compiler/ .

  • Tracing iTunes Shared Library

    Hello Apple People,
Im managing a large number of apple computers, and have recently noticed that some clients have some questionable material that they are sharing in their iTunes library.
I was wandering how do you track down the user who is supplying the shared library. I have started scanning Port 3689, which allows iTunes sharing between Macs, but if there is some temporary file being stored somewhere that gives perhaps an MAC address, or even an IP, that would be better.
    Thanks

    macmenno,
I just read this post and I'm wondering if you can helpme in my problem - I'm completely stumped!
Below is pasted from my post:
"Apple techs, I've posted this topic before and no one has been able to solve - I believe it's a bug in the program.......
All my macs are running 10.4.7, QT 7.1.3, itunes 7 (problem happened with QT 7.1.2, itunes 6.+)
I'm sharing my itunes songs in my MDD G4(host). I access my g4's shared library from my other mac's either via ethernet or wireless (home LAN).
I have discovered that I cannot play ANY songs that have been encoded as mp3 joint stereo. My mp3's were encoded this way because this was my previous itunes versions (itunes 3 I think) default encoding setting.
When I access my hosts itunes shared library from one of my 'client' macs and view my mp3 joint stereo files, I first notice that they have a 'QuickTime movie file(remote)' in the Kind property list.
They do not list this way on the host - they list on the host as MPEG audio file.
Then when I try to play a mp3 joint stereo file, I get a short spinning rainbow, the song does not play and the play head just doesn't move.
All other song files play, non-joint stereo mp3's, AAC, protected(purchased)songs, videos, etc.
Apple itunes tech's PLEASE CHIME IN HERE - I need an expert to examine this issue, I haven't been able to figure this one out and I cannot share/play my music on to my other macs....
    BIG THANKS!"
macmenno, I hope you can help - THANKS!!!

  • OCCI shared library missming functin RefImpl::destroy()

    Hello,
Our application is using OCCI of Oracle 10g client on Solaris 10, and we are going to use Ref, however, the app build failed because of missing RefImpl::destroy(),
and we have searched for that function over all the shared library, did not find it, however, we found other functions from RefImpl class in libocci.so and the function signature in occiObjects.h.
If anybody knows the resolution for this, could you let us know?
we are planning to submit a ticket if we could not find any other way to solve this issue.
    Thanks in advance.

  • ALchemy & Neverwinter Nights

I've installed alchemy on my vista machine and was able to "transmute" Neverwinter Nights 2. However, it seemed to have no effect. I still can't enable hardware sound or EAX from withing NWN2's console. I see the options but they are greyed out. Is this how it is supposed to work or am I missing something?

    WooHoo!
That did it thanks for the tip. I've not really ever messed with the modes and now I know what they are for.
For the record the audio console is located here: "C:\Program Files\Creative\AudioCS\CTAudCS.exe or in Control Panel appropriately named "audio console"?X-Fi does work (sort of) on Vista. The drivers are in beta and I'm not really having a problem but a lot of others are.

  • Itunes Shared Library between Mac and Windows isn't sharing videos properly

Hi, I'm a bit new to the mac world, but I'm the proud owner of a new macmini. I also own a Windows 7 machine.
My problem is with the Itunes Shared library. Itunes 10 on my mac is set up to share everything, including podcasts. I can see these from Itunes 10 on Windows, and I can play music (and audio podcasts), but video is hit or miss.
Videos downloaded from Itunes U tend to work, lectures and stuff.
Video podcasts (also downloaded from Itunes Store) and other videos don't work at all. Itunes just doesn't play the video, and doesn't even launch the "black screen". The timer remains at 0.00.
On the other hand, sharing videos from the PC to Mac works well, i.e. my mac can see the contents of the itunes shared library on Windows and play videos. It just doesn't work the other way around.
Thanks for reading and I hope this problem can be fixed.

    Woops!
