Errors occurred, no packages were upgraded.
I tried googling up something but I can't find anything.
What should I do? Thanks
EDIT: Solved. Sorry for spamming the forum like this before trying with pacman man pages.
I just did
pacman -Syu -f
and it worked.

That might have solved that particular problem, but you may have more. Getting that amount of 'exists in filesystem' errors in one go suggests to me that your pacman database has been corrupted. Read this if you get more problems like this: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Ho … l_database
You should avoid using the -f flag, it could result in a broken system.

    Looks like another pacman-cage screw-up....  these are fun to recover from.
    Anyway, the error from pacman-cage shows that something is using a file in the pacman db folder so pacman cage can not unmount that folder to re-extract your pacman database.  Close what ever program is pointing there (pacman???), reboot if you can not figure it out, and re-run pacman-uncage.

  • [SOLVED] Pacman not working after updating.

    While I'm trying to resolve issue "package-query: requires pacman<3.6", I did wrong that entering "pacman-key --init" right after upgrading pacman. Now it neither upgrade nor install programs.

  • Pacman not updating

    Hi everyone,
    I have had arch on my laptop for a while now, 3 months i think, and two days on my desktop pc. For some reason I can not update either. It just said that there is nothing to do.
    I tried loads of things like just doing
    pacman -Syy
    and changing the mirrorlist so random mirrors are at the top.
    The only difference is that when running pacman -Syu on my laptop, it updates the repos and then says that there is nothing to do rather than on the desktop it says that repos are up to date. Here is my pacman.conf, it is the same on both systems:
    # /etc/pacman.conf

    What's the output of 'pacman -Qm | wc -l'? Maybe you have only one package from the AUR installed?
    Can you post the output of packer when you try to install something from the AUR but it can't find this package?

  • [SOLVED] pacman not working via sudo?

    Hi there!
    I'm having the following effect with pacman and sudo:
    $ sudo pacman -S mercurial
    resolving dependencies...
    looking for inter-conflicts...
    Targets (1): mercurial-2.3-1
    Total Download Size: 1.87 MiB
    Total Installed Size: 13.50 MiB
    Proceed with installation? [Y/n]
    :: Retrieving packages from extra...
    error: failed retrieving file 'mercurial-2.3-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.xz' from ftp.hosteurope.de : Operation too slow. Less than 1024 bytes/sec transferred the last 10 seconds
    warning: failed to retrieve some files from extra
    error: failed to commit transaction (download library error)
    Errors occurred, no packages were upgraded.
    This is when I try to run pacman via sudo.
    When I then do
    $ su
    Password:
    [root@genesis neo]# pacman -S mercurial

    My system is a virtual box running behind a proxy. I have made the proxy-settings available in a file /etc/profile.d/proxy.sh by setting and exporting the variables http_proxy and https_proxy, is this maybe the reason for this behavior?
    Thanks,
    beachcoder

    sudo does not preserve http_proxy or any other env variables. You can either use a flag when calling sudo (troublesome) or edit your sudoers file (check out env_keep)

  • [SOLVED] pacman -Syu update strikes again!

    Several minutes back updated arch as usual. And apart from xterm and dillo I can't run anything.

    I tried to reinstall gcc with deps (as it may stand for segmentation fault), reinstalled gtk, all to no avail.
    Can somebody help me bring my system into condition after a typical arch-way update)?

  • **SOLVED** Openbox not updated in the repos on my system??

    This might be a totally stupid question.. according to the main page openbox and obconf should be upgrading on my system but running a pacman -Syu doesnt seem to do it..  im still getting versions   openbox-3.4.2-1 and obconf-2.0.1-1 .  Ive since compiled them from source but am curious why they are not the newer versions I was expecting...
    Excuse me if ive missed something.

    **Edit**  Thanks for the quick and accurate reply!

    You're chosen mirror hasn't updated yet, that's all. Change mirror if you like.

    thanks!!
    after installing and uninstalling kdemod-kdebase-konqueror and kdebase-konqueror respectively, it worked

  • [SOLVED] pacman - package does not have a valid architecture

    Hello,
    When I was trying to update my system recently, I ran into this problem:
    :: Synchronizing package databases...
    core is up to date
    extra is up to date
    community is up to date 0.0 B 0.00B/s 00:00 [----------------------] 0%
    multilib is up to date
    :: Starting full system upgrade...
    error: failed to prepare transaction (package architecture is not valid)
    :: package wine-1.7.17-1-i686 does not have a valid architecture
    I tried clearing pacman's cache to see if that was the problem, but it didn't do anything. I haven't upgraded the system in over a week before this, and I've installed packages in the mean time without issues. I know that it's not just a wine issue - I tried installing some random packages but ran into the same issue.
    The only thing I can think of that might have caused this would be archiso - I was trying to build a custom ISO but build.sh went wacky for some reason, and it seemed to be trying to install packages onto my system, not into the ISO.
    EDIT: This problem seems to only affect packages in community and extra. Packages from core and multilib don't run into this problem.
    SOLUTION: I think pacman's database files for community and extra got corrupted somehow. I just went into /var/lib/pacman, moved the sync folder to sync_old, then ran pacman -Sy, Everything seems to be good now.

    Unless that's a typo or you immediately followed it by `pacman -Su` then everything is not good now.  Never run `pacman -Sy`.

  • [SOLVED] Pacman: cant install, remove, update packages

    I'm new to Arch, and yes I've read the Wiki and the sticky post "pacman error: FILENAME exists in filesystem".
    I can't install or update packages. Just synced the local database. I want to install the package "mc", so I ran:
    pacman -S mc
    All required packages were downloaded but then I got lots of:
    [package-name]: /path/to/file exists in file system
    I tried to remove that package but it says:
    loading package data...
    error: '[package-name]': could not find or read package
    I'm totally confused!

  • [Solved] Pacman fails to get packages http 403 or 404 error

    Hi,
    I'm not sure if I should raise this as a bug or not, or indeed if I am doing something fundamentally wrong...
    Pacman tells me there are updates to do, but:
    Using the mirror "mirrors.manchester.m247.com" I get a 404 error
    Using the mirror "http://mirror.bytemark.co.uk/archlinux/$repo/os/$arch" I get a 403 error

    Hi flangemonkey,
    that mirror was not synced yet when you did the upgrade (the last sync ended today at 10:54 UTC, about 17 mitues after you posted on this borad). It should be ok now, just try to redo the update. Next time, you may want to check first the status of the mirrors https://www.archlinux.org/mirrors/status
