[SOLVED] Passing Super key through TigerVNC

I'm using TigerVNC to connect between two Arch Linux machines. The server is running Awesome WM and the client is running GNOME 3. When I press the Super key and the VNC window is open, I want the window to pass that keypress on to the server (similar to how keypresses are passed to VirtualBox). However, the keypress is consumed by the client. Is there any way to pass the Super key to the server I'm connecting to?

  • [SOLVED] CR48 - remap caps lock key to super key

    I just got Arch installed on my CR48. The CR48 doesn't have a super key so I was trying to remap the "Caps Lock" key. I've discovered in this post that the "Caps Lock" key is actually "xk_superl". However, the following commands don't work.
    xmodmap -e "keysym xk_superl = Super_L Super_R
    xmodmap -e "keysym Mod4 = Super_L Super_R
    Both of these commands result in an error:
    bad keysym target key symbol 'xk_superl'
    bad keysym target key symbol 'Mod4'
    Am I missing something?

    This in .xinitrc will make the Caps_Lock_key just another Ctrl_key:
    setxkbmap -option ctrl:nocaps
    If you need the exact keycode use, xev to get it.
    Ah ok. I was able to determine the key code of my "caps lock" key using xev. Turns out it was 133. I am now able to use that as the super key. Thanks!

  • Passing of Key Date in RRI

    Hi Folks,
    This problem is related to passing of Key Date value in RRI. We have the Basic(Source) Report in one server & Detail(Target) Report in another server. Now my requirement is to pass Key Date (Query --> Properties) to Target query. I think only variable values & selection will be passed to the target query, So I had a variable in Source report which takes input from user (or default value goes). Now how can this be received by the Key date of the Target query. Iam getting "#" in the Key date of Target query. Mind you once again both queries are on different servers.
    Thanks & regards,
    Manoj.

    Found the answer, thanks to another thread:
    Function RRS_VAR_VALUE_FROM_MEMORY_GET with I_VNAM equal to the key date variable returns the value of the key date.

    <input type="text" name="a" onKeyPress="check();">
    I want to pass the key presses in the check function .
    How to collect the key pressed in the function check ?
    Thanks.

    As I said above, that won't work in Mozilla.
    In fact IMO Netscape/Mozilla javascript event handling has been behind IE since version 4.
    Be that as it may: here is a workaround (for Mozilla): It seems you have to assign the onkeypress event for it rather than declaring it as part of the textfield.
    Of the two textfields on this form, both work in IE, and only the first one will work properly in Mozilla. I left it in just to demonstrate the difference.

    i am using JSP custom tag. I am unable to pass attribute values through variables.
    <invitation:invdetails invid="<%=invid%>"/> The value is passing as <%=invid%> ,not value of the invid.
    But i am getting throuh the fllowing
    <invitation:invdetails invid='1' />
    Please anybody suggest me how to pass value by using the variable.

    Hi,
    It sounds like you need to set the <rtexprvalue> tag to true in the TLD for your tag. If you do this the tag will read in the value you are trying to pass to it.

  • Super key to open panel menu while using compiz

    Hi, I am new to Arch, I have tried a few times to install before but actually sat down today and got this masterpiece set up . All I was wondering now is how do I set up Compiz so that I can use just the super key on my laptop to open the panel menu? I tried editing it to just super and it doesn't seem to like it for whatever reason. This is probably the one Windows feature I could not live without.. I so wish I'd started out my computing days on Linux, then alt+F1 would be the norm thanks in advance

    I have no experience with xmodmap and after using Google to search around I can't seem to get my head around it (the arch wiki also left me feeling somewhat confused too). How do I go about setting it up correctly? This is the final thing that I can't seem to get sorted, and the only thing I have been unsuccessful in Googling a solution.
    Arch has shown me just how much I really don't know! I like learning though otherwise I'd still be like all the other sheep and using Windows like we have all been brainwashed to believe is good (well obviously not the Linux community) I would also like to take this opportunity to say thanks to everyone who has given their time to provide me with support and I hope I have not annoyed you too much with my questions.

  • How to pass form value through URL?

    I have a page set up so that pressing the submit on a form will execute a certain page. For certain reasons I also have a URL HREF link that performs a different function. I need to get the value of a radio button group (all with the same name) and pass that value through the URL if it is pressed. So if someone clicks on the second radio button in the list which has a value of 2, I need to somehow set that to a variable to pass through a URL link. Each time the user changes the radio button I need to dynamically change the variable too.
    Is there any way to do this?

    Thanks for the suggestions everyone. Here is what I have so far:
    I have a cfInput that binds to the radio buttons so the value of the cfinput changes dynamically.
    I have a CFDIV that binds to a separate .cfm page that passes the cfinput through as an argument.
    The .cfm is very basic:
    <cfoutput>
        <cfif isdefined("url.InputText") AND url.InputText NEQ "">
            <cfset FeedVar = #url.InputText#>
        <cfelse>
        </cfif>
    </cfoutput>
    This method appears to work and it sets the Feedvar variable to the appropriate value. However on my first page with the cfdiv tag when I try to pass the #FeedVar# variable through a URL it says it is not defined.
    Any clue if I am doing something wrong passing the new variable back?
    Here is the CFINPUT and CFDIV tags:
    <cfinput type="text" name="update_typeURL" bind="{update_type}" bindonload="true" />
    <cfdiv bind="URL:setURlVar.cfm?InputText={update_type}" ID="theDiv" bindonload="true"  />
    Any ideas on how to read the newly set variable?

  • Modify / Add registry keys through GPO

    Hi
    How can we add / modify registry key through GPO (we are using Windows 2003 AD). Our requirement is to add / modify below key

    Hi,
    In addition to the above suggestions, Registry GPP is another alternative method to achieve your goal.
    You do not need to upgrade to Windows Server 2008 or Windows Server 2008 R2 to use Group Policy Preference policies. You can configure a Group
    Policy preference item in a Windows Server 2003 environment from either a Windows Server 2008/R2 server or a Windows Vista with Service Pack 1/Windows 7 client with RSAT update installed. If you do not have Windows Server 2008/R2 server, you can download
    and install Remote Server Administration Tools on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 client to manage and configure them.

    The CSEs for the new Group Policy preference functionality are required in Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2), Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1 (SP1), and Windows Vista to process the new preference items. To download and install CSEs, please refer to the following

  • Getting Super Key to work as FN key.

    Hi.
    Recently I've bought port replicator II for my Thinkpad T40. When laptop is connected to replicator the lid is closed and I use additional keyboard. I was wondering, do You know how can I change the Super Key (the one with windows logo) to work as a FN key?
    Thanks in advance.
    Szelek.

    Do you mean to work as one of F1, F2, F3, etc? Or do you mean to work as the FN modifier key, that e.g., combines with the left arrow key to produce Home, and so on. Neither is trivial. The first shouldn't be too much trouble. The second will be a lot more trouble, and depending on your keyboard hardware, you may find yourself unable to fully replicate the FN keys behavior you want.
    What you need to do is the same for remapping this key as for any other key. You have to set it up differently for in the Linux Console/Virtual Terminals on the one hand, and in X on the other hand. (Unless you only use one of these.)
    For X, read up on xmodmap (manpage and Google it).
    For Linux console, the pipeline works like this. You press a key, and that generates a sequence of scancodes. These are reported by "showkey -s". The scancode sequence is then translated into a single keycode/keynumber. This is reported by "showkey -k". Then your keymap file translates that into a keysymbol. You can load your own keymap file using the command "loadmap", and your file can include other files, so it only needs to specify the keycode->keysymbol mappings it wants to overwrite. You can see your current mappings with "dumpkeys" and you can see all possible keysymbols with "dumpkeys -l".
    As unwelcome as this may be to hear, I really recommend that you read around a lot about "xmodmap" and "showkey" and "key remapping." I fumbled around with this stuff for months without really understanding it and it was frustrating voodoo that sometimes worked and usually didn't. Once you understand it, though, the voodoo aura will go away.
    If there were one or two excellent documentation sites, I'd point you to them, but I haven't found them. I had to learn by reading the man pages closely and reading 20-30 sometimes outdated, usually incomplete, overviews I found by Googling.

  • Passing Image data through JNI?

    Hello,
    I am trying find the fastest way to pass image data from Java through JNI. Passing Java images through JNI seems to be a very common thing to do so I expect there's an oft-used approach. Can anyone give me a good explanation of this or point me to some references?
    I need to pass the image data to a C++ function which operates on this data, writing the results to a destination buffer which goes back to Java and gets put back into an image.
    Currently, I'm using BufferedImages and getRGB to get an int array from my source image, passing this through JNI along with another int array to be used as the destination buffer, then calling setRGB with my destination buffer after the JNI function returns. getRGB() preserves the alpha channel of png files, which is functionality I need. The problem with this approach is that getRGB is extremely slow. It can take up to two seconds with a large image on my 1.2 Ghz Athlon. It seems to be performing a copy of the entire source image's data. Maybe there is a way to decode a jpg or png directly into an int array?
    -Aaron Dwyer

    Here's how you could do it for TYPE_4BYTE_ABGR
    BufferedImage img=new BufferedImage(13,10,BufferedImage.TYPE_4BYTE_ABGR);
    img.setRGB(0,0,0xff0000);
    img.setRGB(5,1,0x00ff00);
    img.setRGB(1,1,0xcafebabe);
    DataBuffer db=img.getRaster().getDataBuffer();
    int dataType=db.getDataType();
    if (dataType!=DataBuffer.TYPE_BYTE)
         throw new IllegalStateException("I can do it only for TYPE_BYTE");
    int imgType=img.getType();
    if (imgType!=BufferedImage.TYPE_4BYTE_ABGR)
         throw new IllegalStateException("I can do it only for TYPE_4BYTE_ABGR");
    DataBufferByte dbi=(DataBufferByte)db;
    byte[] array=dbi.getData();
    SampleModel model=img.getSampleModel();
    if (!(model instanceof PixelInterleavedSampleModel))
         throw new IllegalStateException("I can do it only for PixelInterleavedSampleModel");
    PixelInterleavedSampleModel pisModel=(PixelInterleavedSampleModel)model;
    if (pisModel.getPixelStride()!=4)
         throw new IllegalStateException("I can do it only for pixel stride of 4");
    if (dbi.getNumBanks()!=1)
         throw new IllegalStateException("I can do it only for 1 band");
    int scanlineBytes=pisModel.getScanlineStride();
    // Access the green Pixel on Position 5,1
    System.out.println( (int)array[5*4 + scanlineBytes] &0xff);     // Alpha
    System.out.println( (int)array[5*4+1 + scanlineBytes] &0xff);     // Red
    System.out.println( (int)array[5*4+2 + scanlineBytes] &0xff);     // Green
    System.out.println( (int)array[5*4+3 + scanlineBytes] &0xff);     // Blue     I've added some checks to make sure we're accessing the data the right way.

  • Pass Diadem Parameters through command line

    Hi,
    I am trying to run DIAdem through command line. I have no problem with this but can I pass a variable through the same.
    I would like to pass T1 with some value through command line. Can anyone please help me how can I do this.
    Expecting your earliest reply.
    Thanks,

    Hi Priya,
    I am not quite sure what you're trying to do. So are you running a DIAdem SCRIPT from the command line? Is your variable defined within your application? How is the variable initialized when you run the script from within DIAdem. Is it a user Input? Also how exactly are your running the script from the command line?
    I hope to hear from you soon and I will post as soon as I get some info from you side. Thank you for your patience.
