Some prolems when trying to create Jar file...

Hi,
1st sorry i post this in the wrong box, i posted it in the Jar box but no body replied and I really need to get this done soon...
I've got a list of *.class and a folder images and Start is the class I want to be the entry point
I tried:
1. jar cfm MyApp.jar Manifest.txt *.class images
In Manifest.txt has a line: Main-Class: Start
the jar file is created, but when I tried to run (both double click and command line) this gives me an error "Failed to load Main-Class manifest attribute from..."
2. jar cmf MyApp.jar Manifest.txt *.class images
this has error while making the jar file, it gives "java.io.FileNotFoundException: MyApp.jar (The system cannot find the file specified)...
3. I tried the 1st method, then unzip the jar file, edit the manifest.mf file by adding a line Main-Class: Start. Then zip it, rename it to MyApp.jar
And a weird thing happens... When I place the jar file IN THE SAME FOLDER with other class files, it runs fine. But when I move it to A DIFFERENT FOLDER with other class files, it runs with dimension 0x0, i.e. only the title bar is displayed...
I've tried those method and none of them work... can some one tell me what I have done wrong?
Thanks...

This is the class used to get the ImageIcon for the JLabel
public class CardGUI extends JPanel {
     private ImageIcon tmp;
     private final int CARDWIDTH = 50; //Card width is 50
     //return the Card GUI
     public ImageIcon getCardGUI (int kind, char suit) {
          //This String is used to locate the file (*.png)
          //of each Card
          //E.g. Card 2 Club will has file "images/cards/2c.png"
          String imgStr = "images/cards/" + kind + suit + ".png";
          tmp = new ImageIcon(imgStr);
          //If the card is not found, return the back of the Card
          if (tmp.getIconWidth()!= CARDWIDTH) {
               tmp = new ImageIcon("images/cards/back.png");
          return tmp;
}Then the JLabel used this to set the image, where humanCard1 is an instance of JLabel, and cardLabel is instance of the above class.
humanCard1.setIcon(cardLabel.getCardGUI(card10.getKind(), card10.getSuit()));
> new ImageIcon("images/mainbackground.jpg")Wrong. Because there are any more no files in a jar archive. Only file is the jar file itself, and nothing else.
What do u mean? When I create the jar file, i include the images folder inside the jar file already?
I've been using the Swing forum and that's how I know the 2 methods above for setting image for JLabel and JPanel... So what should i be searching for in the Swing forum now?

  • Error when trying to load jar file (loadjava)

    I have been struggling with this issue for a few days. I read all the old threads and solutions online but none of them worked. I wrote some java stored procedures and have been trying to load the required jar files. The error message I keep getting is this:
    ORA-29532: Java call terminated by uncaught Java exception: oracle.aurora.server.tools.loadjava.ToolsError: Error during loadjava: Failures occurred during processing. Check trace file for details
    I have tried to load them using Enterprise Manager Console and the following:
    call dbms_java.loadjava(' -force -resolve
    c:\javacog\cognosClient.jar', ' -resolver "((* PUBLIC) (*
    SYS) )"')
    Any ideas? We are using Oracle 10gr2, and trying to load Cognos 8.3 SDK jar files. According to Cognos, Java 1.4 is supported.

    Sorry to respond to an old message, I was just looking for the solution for the totally different problem.
    Key word 'Cognos' got me here.
    I've menage to load Cognos SDK onto Oracle 10.2.0.2 on Windows XP.
    I've used simple loadjava script. After that it requires some additional GRANTs, and it works.
    If you still are looking for the solution for this problem, respond to this message, and I'll post the scripts.

  • Help -- Trying to create JAR file but not working

    Hi everyone
    I have created a rather noddy Java program that consists of 4 JComboBox's and 1 JButton on a JFrame.
    When the button is clicked a text file is generate with the options that have been selected.
    There are severial files that the program uses for this:
    gcc.java
    OutToFile.java
    gccConfirm.java
    MyNewWindow.java
    main.java
    I am using Jcreator and so must use the command line to create the Jar file.
    I have never done a jar file before so I did an example with a hello world program and got it working now problem. I did the same for this program and the JAR file is generated without error. I double click on the JAR file to run the application, but nothing happens. I can see the application running in memory but nothing loads on the screen. However if I run it from the command line using Java -jar gcc.jar then everything is ok.
    can anyone help me here?
    thanks in advance

    If you run you .jar from the command line (a shell in unix speak) there
    already is a console where your java program can send it's System.out
    stuff. Right click on your .jar and select 'properties' (or similar). Note
    that your .jar is run by 'javaw'. This executable is similar to the 'java'
    executable except that it doesn't open a console for you. Change the
    'javaw' command to 'java' and voila, there's your console again.
    kind regards,
    Jos

  • "application descriptor not found" when trying to create .ane file

    I have been trying to create a very simple native extention for the better part of a week now and I just can't seem to figure it out.
    Using tutorials and guides from the following sources:
    http://www.adobe.com/devnet/air/articles/extending-air.html
    http://www.adobe.com/content/dam/Adobe/en/devnet/devices/pdfs/DevelopingActionScriptExtens ionsForAdobeAIR.pdf
    http://custardbelly.com/blog/2011/09/21/air-native-extension-example-ibattery-for-ios/
    I managed to get up to the point where I need to create the ane file, but I am getting "application descriptor not found".
    So, here is the detailed explanation of everything I have done to date. Can someone tell me where I have gone wrong?
    1. On the mac, I created an xcode project, using the iBattery example code from the link above, I managed to create static library .a file. I am not going to discount the possiblity that there are many errors still in this file, but I am going to assume for the moment that my current problem is not related to any issues in this static library.
    2. Copied the static library "DaveExtention.a" to my PC where I have flash CS5.5 installed (yes, I know there is a typo in the name)
    3. In my app folder, I created a lib folder that now contains the following files:
    D:\GoldSun\Source Code\Flash\ExtentionTest\lib\DaveExtension.fla
    D:\GoldSun\Source Code\Flash\ExtentionTest\lib\DaveExtension-app.xml
    D:\GoldSun\Source Code\Flash\ExtentionTest\lib\com\extensions\DaveExtension\DaveExtension.as
    D:\GoldSun\Source Code\Flash\ExtentionTest\lib\com\extensions\DaveExtension\BatteryStateEnum.as
    I set my project to compile an swc into the build folder and simply put the following code into my project:
    import com.extensions.DaveExtension.BatteryStateEnum;
    import com.extensions.DaveExtension.DaveExtension;
    var ext:DaveExtension = new DaveExtension;
    var batterystate:BatteryStateEnum;
    stop();
    I then publish the swc.
    4. Once the swc is created in the build folder, I copy the libDaveExtention.a to the build folder and create the extension.xml file, which looks like this:
    <extension xmlns="http://ns.adobe.com/air/extension/2.5">
      <id>com.extensions.DaveExtension</id>
      <versionNumber>1</versionNumber>
      <platforms>
        <platform name="iPhone-ARM">
            <applicationDeployment>
                <nativeLibrary>libDaveExtention.a</nativeLibrary>
                <initializer>ExtInitializer</initializer>
                <finalizer>ExtFinalizer</finalizer>
            </applicationDeployment>
        </platform>
      </platforms>
    </extension>
    5. I make a copy of the swc file and rename it to .zip... I then extract library.swf from it and delete the zip. My build folder now looks like this:
    D:\GoldSun\Source Code\Flash\ExtentionTest\lib\Build\DaveExtension.swc
    D:\GoldSun\Source Code\Flash\ExtentionTest\lib\Build\extension.xml
    D:\GoldSun\Source Code\Flash\ExtentionTest\lib\Build\libDaveExtention.a
    D:\GoldSun\Source Code\Flash\ExtentionTest\lib\Build\library.swf
    6. I downloaded the flex 4.5.1.21328 sdk and the Air 3.0 sdk, which I copied into the flex sdk folder (which is located in "D:\SDKs\flex_sdk_4.5.1.21328")
    7. In my build folder, I create a simple batch file called buildane.bat with the following command:
    D:\SDKs\flex_sdk_4.5.1.21328\bin\adl -package -target ane DaveExtension.ane extension.xml -swc DaveExtension.swc -platform iPhone-ARM library.swf libDaveExtention.a
    8. I then open a command prompt to my build folder and run buildane.bat and this is my output:
    D:\GoldSun\Source Code\Flash\ExtentionTest\lib\Build>buildane.bat
    D:\GoldSun\Source Code\Flash\ExtentionTest\lib\Build>D:\SDKs\flex_sdk_4.5.1.21328\bin\adl -package -target ane DaveExtension.ane extension.xml -swc DaveExtension.swc -platform iPhone-ARM library.swf libDaveExtention.a
    application descriptor not found
    No matter what I try, I can't get passed this.
    Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong?

    >>D:\GoldSun\Source Code\Flash\ExtentionTest\lib\Build>D:\SDKs\flex_sdk_4.5.1.21328\bin\adl -package -target ane DaveExtension.ane extension.xml -swc DaveExtension.swc -platform iPhone-ARM library.swf libDaveExtention.a
    Either its a typo or by mistake you wrote adl in yout bat file. Change it to adt since that is the file that will package your ane. adl is just used for debugging/running on Desktop.
    Hope this helps. let me know how it goes.
    Thanks,
    Meet

  • Keep getting errors when trying to open JAR files

    Hi
    My son is trying to open a .jar on his Macbook to add a mod to Minecraft.  It throws an error and directs him to Console each time, but Console isn't showing any errors.  Using advice on a couple of similar threads I followed some steps but ended up at a dead end.
    The Terminal message I get when I follow the steps in another thread is this:
    Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: org/eclipse/swt/widgets/Display
    Caused by: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: org.eclipse.swt.widgets.Display

    Any help on what I need to do to resolve this so he can open it will be much appreciated.
    Thanks
    Andy

    Hi Eric.
    I am referring to the main  Console.  I don't see anything in Java Console - but the steps I followd in teh other thread yielded that error message from Terminal - it was different from the error in the other thread, which related to out of data Java install.  I have no clue what this is and Google isn't helping me much.
    Any light that can be thrown on on this woudl be great
    Thanks

  • Error when trying to create a Files System with newfs

    HI,
    I am running Solaris 8 on a Sun Ultra 10 workstation
    I am in the process of configuring the slices on my primary 20 gig hard drive. I have partitioned the hard drive as follows.
    # prtvtoc /dev/dsk/c0t0d0s2
    * /dev/dsk/c0t0d0s2 (volume "edi_main") partition map
    * Dimensions:
    * 512 bytes/sector
    * 63 sectors/track
    * 16 tracks/cylinder
    * 1008 sectors/cylinder
    * 39535 cylinders
    * 39533 accessible cylinders
    * Flags:
    * 1: unmountable
    * 10: read-only
    * First Sector Last
    * Partition Tag Flags Sector Count Sector Mount Directory

    3 2 00 1049328 26216064 27265391 /edi
    The root filesystem was created at installation, and I executed newfs on partition 3 to create the /edi filesystem, and both of them are mounted. I now need to create a filesystem on slice 1 but the newfs command is not working. I get the following output from newfs:
    # newfs -v /dev/dsk/c0t0d0s1
    newfs: /dev/dsk/c0t0d0s1: Unable to read Disk geometry
    Could someone tell me what is wrong with this partition.
    Any help would be appreciated.

    I e-mailed tech support and got my answer.
    I should have been using /dev/rdsk and not /dev/dsk when specifying the disk slice to put the file system on.

  • Authorisation error when trying to create .sda files

    Hi ,
    we have NW 04s with SP14 usage type MI installed. We used template wiz to configure our system. When we bring up NWA and after providing necessary information under Mobile Archive Converter we consistently get error " You are not authorized to create SDA archives" . the user which is used to create this archive has role Admin as described in Config guide and this has been assigned to the user in MI abap stack via SU01.
    is there a way to find out what authorization is missing ? is there a log that I can read to find out more.
    Edited by: manish salvi on Feb 5, 2008 2:33 AM

    Hi,
    there is an additional Role in the J2EE necessary for the user.... (well, that you have known already.... :-$)
    The name of the role is something like "J2EE Mobile Admin". This is missng in the config guide. Add it to the user and you should be able to upload SDA files via NWA.
    Hope this helps. Sorry that I do not have the exact name, but I am at the customer side at the moment with only limited access to the system.

  • "Package operation failed" error when trying to create ICAP file

    Why is this happening? I create a new assignment and then select "Package for Incopy" and I get the error message "Package operation failed". What am I doing wrong?  For draft 1 of my Mac Indesign CS5 file I created a new "assignment 1" and ICAP file and emailed to my PC Incopy CS4 client. They sent IDAP file back and all was well. I need to send draft 2 to client the same way but why am I unable to create a new ICAP file? I can't even replace the ICAP file from draft 1. Please help. Thank you!  Lynn

    Did you ever get it to work?
    We are having the same problem.
    Indesign CS4 on Mac
    InCopy CS5 on PC
    Though we also get an odd message when we reopen the InCopy doc, that there is another version created in 1999 which we might want to use.

    JSP is used for server validation.
    So you need a an application server (like Tomcat or Jboss) to execute your jsp files.
    you can create the .war file of your simple jsp application and put it in the server.
    then you will have to access your page using a web browser.
    the URL will be
    http://<ComputerName or IP Address>:<PortNumber>/<WarFileName>/<MainJspPage>
    (eg: http://100.100.100.252:8080/SimpleApplication/mainPage.jsp)

  • How to create jar files from my code?

    Hi, Im a rookie programmer and i need to create jar files in my application code. Which classes do i need to use?
    Can anybody give me an example?
    Thanx in advance

    Thanx Uwe. Youre right, im only trying to create jar
    files (and extract files from a jar file) I will try
    what you told me. Anyway, I have some doubts about how
    to use those classes.Can you give me any example?
    Thanx again!To create jar files use the class JarOutputStream.
    Add a ZipEntry for each entry in the jar file.
    To read jar files use the class JarInputStream and get all JarEntry.
    It should be straight forward.

  • Creating JAR files programmatically

    I am trying to create JAR files programmatically using the java.util.zip and java.util.jar APIs. I am starting with just a set of directories containing .class files. I can seem to make the JAR but if I try to use any of the classes in it they don't work. But, if I unzip the JAR using WinZip, the classes are usable. So I am somehow building the JAR file incorrectly. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions? The code is pretty long so I won't post it yet but I can send it to you if you'd like to see it. Contact by email if you'd like to see the code. Thanks.

    What paths are you encoding? Here are a couple of rules:
    1 - All paths are '/' separated, and do not begin with a '/'.
    2 - All paths are relative (see 1) and contain the exact package name of the class, plus the class.
    E.G., the class java.lang.Object would look like this in your jar:
    java/lang/Object.classNothing more or less.

  • Jdeveloper 10.1.2 creating jar files in user's temporary director

    Hi all,
    McAfee uses 100% of my PC CPU every once in a while when jdevw.exe creates jar files in C:\Documents and Settings\wase\Local Settings\Temp. They get created at seemingly random times while I am running the embedded OC4J in debug mode (Struts, BC4J, ADF). McAfee is configured to ignore a few of my directories and I would like to direct those files into an unscanned directory. (No, The powers that be will NOT turn off on access scanning of archives. Sigh.) The files go away when I shut down JDeveloper.
    Thanks,

  • When re-installing JRE 1.2.2 I get an error "can't create JAR file"

    When I uninstalled Java Runtime 1.2.2 and reinstalling, at the end of the installation I get an error:
    "Error while creating JAR file.
    Check you have enough disk space.
    See c:\winnt\temp\uncrunch.log for details"
    Only trouble is I've got 14 GB open and the uncrunch.log file isn't even created.
    Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated!
    Johan

    I am also getting a similar error with JRE 1.3.1
    I actually get an uncrunch.log:
    Running uncrunch
    lpCmdLine = "C:\Program Files\JavaSoft\JRE\1.3.1\tmp\rt.out" "D:\\rt.jar"
    Crunching from C:\Program Files\JavaSoft\JRE\1.3.1\tmp\rt.out to D:\\rt.jar
    Temporary file = D:\\rt.tmp
    Couldn't open output file "D:\\rt.tmp"
    The only problem is that D: is a CD ROM drive. Don't know why it is trying to use D:
    Any one have any ideas?
