Hello expoerts.
Would you mind mentioned about the name of the BPCLog (BPC 7.5) table in SQL Server 2008.
And How can i find to view its content, please?

After creating the above table, you must use the appcmd to change the IIS settings to configure for ODBC logging.
These appcmd commands are clear enough in the installation guide. Please verify with the installation guide for reference.
Even if you re-install the BPC system, you have to do this anyway. So no need to reinstall your BPC system.

    Hi,
    BPC for MS runs on Microsoft platform where as BPC for NW runs on SAP Netweaver.
    BPC for NW is tightly integrated with SAP BI all the dimensions and applications created in BPC NW can be seen in BI system in the form of Infoobject (dimensions) and Infocubes (applications).
    Performance depends on the complexity and scalability of the project. BPC for NW may undergo lots of improvements and developments in future versions.

    SAP BPC 410(SAP BusinessObjects Planning and Consolidation, version for the Microsoft Platform: Administration)
    SAP BPC 420(SAP BusinessObjects Planning and Consolidation, Version for SAP NetWeaver: Administration)
    SAP BPC 430(SAP BusinessObjects Planning and Consolidation: Reporting and Planning)
    SAP BPC 440(SAP BusinessObjects Planning and Consolidation - Consolidation)
    In those books we have some exercises, Do those exercises then you become  familiar in BPC.
    And if you have any doubts while practicing those please post in SCN, you will get the required information

    Yes, whatever RAM and HD shipped with the MBP is covered under the 1/3 year warranty, as long as nothing you do harms it.
    If not, I can trade it to replace 4GB ram ^^
    If, by "trade," you mean get rid of it, I would not do that. If you ever have to have your MBP repaired under warranty, and new RAM is installed, you may have a problem with Apple or an AASP. Prior to having it serviced, I would put the original RAM back in.

  • BPC for excel

    We using BPC 5.1 SP1 and SQL Server 2000, excel 2003
    We got one user gettinge the following error message "Object Variable or With block varable not set" and "Information missmatch between App info and Analysis server. Use the login screen to try to reconnecting to the Web server"  when trying to log
    in to BPC for Excel.
    BPC for Word is working fine.
    We have tried to reinstall BPC and Excel but the problem remains.

    Do you receive the messages when you log into a specific application? Or with all applications?
    The latter message seems to indicate that Analysis Services and the database are out of sync. Process each of the the applications through the Admin Console.

    What are the key differences (apart from platform) between BPC for SAP Netweaver & BPC for Microsoft platform? BPC 7.0 is integrated with Outlooksoft whereas BPC (based on Netweaver 7.5) needs Business Object. Is this understanding correct?
    Which is a more a stable version? Appreciate if related URLs/ OSS Notes are shared.

    From functionalities point of view are justfew slight sifferences between M and NW version of SAP BPC.
    Just into background is the difference that M version is using just Microsoft technologies:
    .NET Application Server developed into .NET technologies
    OLAP database using SSAS from Microsoft
    Relational Database using SQL Server database
    and NW version is using standard SAP technologies:
    ABAP application server
    OLAP datbase - part of BW
    Relational Database - any database supported by NW
    Regarding the performances between the two versions I will say it is depending by number of users and volume of data but in general are not big differences. If the design of application is done correct following the Best Practices documentantion I think the performances are more anlless the same.
    In any case I don't see any reason to have both version of SAP BPC M and NW version.
    You have to decide the right version function by IT requirements and future developments using NW or Microsoft technologies.
    But it doesn't make sense to have BPC M and BPC NW for the same customer.

    I am working in a project of BPC v10 and there are some questions i would like to solve. Specifically i want to know if the new version of SAP BPC allow you to insert new records in a hierarchy level. I heard somewhere it was possible by defining percentages to split the record on base members.
    On the other hand, in bpc v7.5 whenever you look for a dimension member using a filter in a evcvw , the dimension presented in order to select a member has no hierarchy. Do you know if it has changed inn bpc v10 or it remains equal?
    Does anybody know something concerning this items? Any help will be much appreciated,

    No change in BCP 10. Once you fileter based on property view automatically changed to "List View"

    My company is currently running a BPC 5.1 MS environment and will soon be upgrading to version 7.0 MS.  I was wondering if there is a white paper or some guidance that anyone can give with regard to the best practice for managing a BPC environment.  Which brings to light several questions in my mind:
    1.  Which department(s) in a company should u201Cownu201D the BPC application? 
    2. If both, whatu2019s SAPu2019s recommendation for segregation of duties?
    3. What roles should exist within our company to manage BPC?
    4. What type(s) of change control is SAPu2019s u201CBest Practiceu201D?
    We are currently evaluating the best way to manage the system across multiple departments, however there is no real business ownership in the system, which seems to be counter to the reason for having BPC as a solution in the first place.
    Any guidance on this would be very much appreciated.

  • BPC for Excel selection screens trouble

    Hi, all!
    In our BPC network there are some client machines which have strange trouble in BPC for Excel. When we try login to Excel, Run DM package and select members from CV and run others menu where exists selection screen we see black rectangle where should be text. (Examples:durin login to Excel - at Selection of Connection options (Use default port or Use secured port); during Run DM package - Selection of when to run package(Run now, Schedule or Run now & Schedule); at screen of Member selector of dimension - Data view (Hierachy or Table)). Client machine - Win XP SP3, Excel 2003 SP3. We try reinstall BPC for Excel, Excel, try different client BPC for Excel - 5.1 and 7.0 and it didn't help

    Hello,
      A similar problem was reported a while ago in an older version of the product.  Our development team after analyzing the issue notified the probelm was caused by the color scheme selected on the client
    machine because our dialog boxes use that color scheme.
    Please set your color scheme to default and see if that fixes the problem.

    I need to make a price list in SAP BPC for MS 7.5.
    So the first question - What type of application should I choose?
    And the main thing - How can I make average calculations?
    I have made account dimension, which member list contains just "Price".
    When I built an input shedule(goods against time), enter prices in some currency,
    the total year value ist the sum of the values of months. But I need an average value.
    How can I organise it?

    Hi Olga,
    You statement doesnt provide any information on which type of application should be used.
    This decision is based on other criterias. If you need to do any planning or management consolidation, then you can use the financial type application. If you want to do a legal consolidation, then you can use the consolidation type application. If you need to store just the supporting data required for planning, then you can use non-reporting type application (such as rate)
    For displaying average at parent members, either you can write dimension formula in the time dimension for the account price. Otherwise, you can create a custom measure.

    we have created some packages diabling the appset status when running.
    These packages update dimension data and/or fact data.
    Other users will receive an error when sending data to the application when the
    packages are running.
    Ist there a change to lookup the appset status in BPC for excel?
    May be continuously with a macro or just before sending data?
    I didn't find a bpc function for this task.

    Hi Jochen,
    I don't believe there is any way to do this with built-in BPC functionality.
    Assuming you're on BPC for Microsoft, in the appset's DB, you can query as follows:
    select [value]
    from tblDefaults
    where [type] = 'system' and keyid = 'availableflag'
    -- value of 1 = available
    -- value of 0 = not available
    I know this works for system availability when it's controlled on / off, manually from the admin consol. I believe it also works when the system is taken offline by a data manager package, but you'd need to check if you plan to implement this.

  • Bpc for excel - validate submissions

    Hello,
    I went ahead and created some validation rules for several accounts. When i click on "Validate Submission" under the eSubmit menu, i get the following message:
    Submission did not pass validation. You may need to resubmit data.
    A Validation Report could not be run because there is no Validation Report Template.
    Where can i make this validation report template such that it appears if the submission does not pass?
    I've looked in the admin guide and online help..but all it says is that the administrator can make validation reports.
    Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi Nikunj,
    The validation report is defined in application parameter, LOCKREPORT. You may put right name to this parameter. For example, validate.xlt.
    And you need to put this validation report to eExcel\Input Schedules\Wizard folder of application of WebFolders. For example in case of Finance application, C:\BPC\Data\WebFolders\ApSet\Finance\eExcel\Input Schedules\Wizard\validation.xlt
    And you need to download client templates again. So, you should trigger download templates in eTools menu.
    However, you may confused between validations in BPC. "Validate Submission" is triggering input validation against validation account. It is not related to account validation rules in business rule. It is using LOCKACCOUNT application parameter to validate balance in your input.

    HI,
       There is no specific way (something like a menu command). You can define a specific colors or format for the cells(or some formulas which change the format of the cell), but this is related to the input schedule design.

    I'm trying to find out if there any known excel add-ins that conflict with BPC for Excel (v7) and how the conflicts manifest themselves.
    I am currently specifically interested in conflicts with SAP BW BEx Analyser but would be interested in any others also.

    Usually, Crashing means excel will show crashing error message and restart it.
    Excel will just return excel error message. NOT BPC or 3rd Party ADD_IN error message because it happened at the EXCEL while it is processing request from BPC addin and other 3rd partty Addin. (Of course BEX is SAP product. that's why BPC NW support BEX report in 7.5 but still it is not fully integrated with MS.)
    Sometimes it happens when retriving data from BPC or sending data. As you know those are critical functionality of BPC.
    Again, it depends on the addin but based on my experience, Hyperion Addin and BEX addin had a problem when it runs together with BPC addin.  some simple addin might not have any issue but still recommendation is not using 3rd party addin because we don't know where the error comes.
