Just to tell you all a funny (better to smile than to cry!) tale!
5 or 6 years ago I bought a PowerMac G4/533 Digital Audio and, some time later, a M-Audio Audiophile 2496 audio card.
At that time M-Audio was M-Audio, not Avid, and I had a lot of mail exchange (in a relaxing way, I must say) because my Mac won't sleep with the audio card drivers installed.
The problem was solved fast enough with a new driver (we were at the time of Mac OS X 10.0/10.1).
Some days ago I decided to change the 2x40Gb HD with 2x80Gb because my old disks were about full so I decided to make a completely fresh installation without importing anything from the old system.
I've made some spring cleaning inside the mac and, I must say, the big case fan is less noisy without all that dust.
So I've copied all my documents, installed all apps AND all the drivers, M-Audio ones amongst the others........
Will u guess?
After about 5 or 6 years my Mac won't go to sleep again!!!!
A lot of compliments to Avid for their ability to screw up all the things that they touch!!!!!! (apart PT, obviolusly).
Luckily my PB is powered with a MOTU........

I think that those old drivers would not work with Tiger
Anyway I've always updated my drivers so this issue is a new one because with prior versions the things were ok.
About Digi...........
I've had a Mbox too and I sold it after an angry match with Digi support about their fake core audio drivers........
A lot of time has passed but, if I remember well, there are a lot of complaints on this forum, and others, about the quality of those drivers....
The most funny thing that the support staff said to me was that their drivers were compliant to core audio specs and I had to remember them those specs and show all the things that were not so core audio compliant.....
After then I sold my Mbox.....
But if you are happy with your PT I have no problem :-))

Ignore this if you've tried it, but have you tried repairing the disk using the Recovery HD? Reboot holding Command + r > Disk Utility > Repair Disk. If anything gets altered click on repair disk again until you get a clean pass. Restart from the Apple menu.
Have you tried a Safe Boot? Restart holding down the shift key until you see the grey progress bar. Once booted restart as normal from the Apple menu.
It sounds like you've tried an SMC reset, but in case you didn't follow the exact procedure, here are the instructions. Sometimes attempting it 2 or 3 times can make a difference, according to a few posts on here that I've seen.
You could also try the PRAM reset that is listed as well. Good luck, but it might be a trip to the workshop for Apple to sort out.

Click on the Hot Corners.. button and look at the four definitions. In the picture below, if you moved the cursor to the right top of the screen, it would slide all the applications off the screen as you describe and show the desktop. Set it to "-" to deactivate.

I just checked out the info, the iphone video that was recieved was 25.9MB compared to the original slideshow on my iMac at 297.5MB.

Back up all data before proceeding.
Launch the Keychain Access application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Keychain Access in the icon grid.
Select the login keychain from the list on the left side of the Keychain Access window. If your default keychain has a different name, select that.
If the lock icon in the top left corner of the window shows that the keychain is locked, click to unlock it. You'll be prompted for the keychain password, which is the same as your login password, unless you've changed it.
Right-click or control-click the login entry in the list. From the menu that pops up, select
          Change Settings for Keychain "login"
In the sheet that opens, uncheck both boxes, if not already unchecked.

It depends on whether your songs are matched or not.
If your music is matched then it will download at 256kbs, i.e. if you delete the original lossless file it will redownload as 256kbs from iCloud. If a song is not matched, it will be uploaded in the original bitrate that it was encoded with.

I remove toolbars in the options menu and each time I re-load they come back. I want the ability to remove toolbars permanently.

In the options menu, I remove the toolbars that I don't want to see. i.e. Conduit Engine and Add-on Bar. They only remain removed for that session. When I re-load FF, they are back. I want the ability to remove toolbars I don't want and have them STAY removed.

It sounds like your Messages app is becoming unresponsive when you try and delete a message. I would try closing all the running apps on the phone first.
iOS: Force an app to close

Swipe left or right until you have located the app you wish to close.
Swipe the app up to close it.
When you have done that restart the phone:

I have been reading all of the online help forums and here's the problem:
I have a bunch of email spam that I want to delete.
I search in the finder and it shows a list of 405 emails that match.
I then drag these to the trash can and click delete.. and about 2 hours later I will go back to see if the files are still on my mac and the saem 405 will appear.
Here's what I have done so far:
Secure Empty Trash Takes a long time and the emails still come back
Deleting the delete.mbox files within the mail library and they still come back
Removign the index files and then waiting about three hours for my mailbox to rebuild and then they still come back.
Please help as this is now drivign me nuts!!!

I have gone to my mail host every week and have dumped my emails and i also have my preferences set to purge after 1 month...
I went to the envelope index and tossed the file and the mac rebuil tthe enitire mailbox.. three hours.. and like 138,000 emails.. had to be rebuilt..
I have tried the command delete too and to no avail..
Sanjampet.. you are very kind to offer these suggestions.. but these emails are still here..
I have been searching for one specific group of emails and eveyr hour i delete the 405 emaisl and they come right back.. abotu an hour later.. even after a secure empty trash, email quitting and then of course a re-boot of my computer..
they are still here!!!

Turning off apps, but they come back on.

So I go into Settings/Applications/Running Services. I click on the (example) WeatherService to stop the Applications. It stops the Application at the time, however, it comes right back on in a few minutes.
Why? I went into all the WeatherServices types of widgets and turned them all off.
As I said above they come right back on as if the program has the control over me the owner and user of my phone!
I have even gone into the TaskManager and tried to turn them off from there. The pre-loaded apps like Skype, etc. cannot be turned off at all.

Because that's the way either the manufacturer, the carrier, or both wanted it. There are certain processes that start automatically and if you force close them they respawn (restart).
On this board there is nothing anyone can tell you to prevent it.

I've picked up a trojan. Neither norton or superantispyware can find the source. when i delete the "ad" files and the index.dat file in user/appdata/roaming/microsoft/windows/cookies and cookies/low they come back the next time i start firefox

The "ad" file names look like they're randomly generated. They look like n6sxx8t5.dat and 038prmz7.txt. I get one for every pop-up ad that is generated. That pop-up ad is generally related to the type of web page i'm on when it triggers. it only occurs once per session. what i don't know is if it is also trying to capture any data i'm entering.
like i said, i've deleted the text and index.dat files, but they keep coming back.

Do a malware check with some malware scanning programs. 
You need to scan with all programs because each program detects different malware. 
Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.
