Sorting a Month Column Ascendingly

I have constructed a time series with an ago fuction but I have a littile problem with my Month Column(Varchar), it wont sort Ascendingly ,ie Jan ,Feb,March, April ect, Instead , it is retuning radom results ie jan. march , August etc. I have tried everything possible to get it to sort Ascendinglily to no avail. but it wont sort. Please , help.

Create a dummy column (Month Column In your scenario) in answers use the following code in fx:
case when columnvalue= 'Jan' then 1 when columnvalue= 'Feb' then 2 .......... when columnvalue= 'Dec' then 12 end
enable asc sorting order on this column you can hide this column.
Note: Replace the columnvalue with the name of your original column.

If we apply normal sorting then we can arrange the column values either in ascending order or descending order. But i want the column values to be in this format like jan, feb, mar,apr....dec. How to sort on Multiple columns in WebI report

Hi
I am working in BO XI R2. I have a report containing two columns in a section. Section is on Fiscal Year- Fiscal year includes calendar year 2010 and 2011.
data for fiscal year 2010 is from october onwards.
The two columns in the section are
column 1- calendar Year
column 2- calendar Month
I want to display results as follows
2010 oct
2010 nov
2010 dec
2011 jan
2011 feb and so on.
I first sorted calendar year column so that it shows
2010
2011
but when i try to sort calendar month, for 2010 I am able to display oct, nov, dec in a ascending order but for 2011 the months are displayed randomly. Business user wants to see them in ascending order from Jan to June.
Please let me know how to get this functionality in the report.

I have same issue with me I am working on XI3.1 and I want to apply Sort on multiple columns on Single block.
So as you can see the "Org Name" is decending Order and " Emails Sent" total is 63 and "BCB" have 18 total.
How would I apply sorting based on email sent from high number to low number. Please help.

Sorting by Multiple Columns in Numbers 3.0

The new Numbers 3.0 update has moved some stuff around I need, and can not find.
Where is "Reorganize"? The ability to sort multiple by columns. (e.g. Sort Ascending Column A, THEN Column B, THEN Column C)

this didn't work for me - i have item, then price, then checkbox. using the formula just gave an amalgamation of the three cells.

The very idea of the workaround is to give an amalgamation, more often called "concatenation", and then just sort on the column containing the concatenated "string."
As you've discovered, the =A&C&B formula only works if A,C, and B are all text. If you've got numbers in the mix then you have to pad them with leading zeros for them to sort as you want. That's easily done.
Let's say C is a number and A and B are strings. You could put somethng like this in column D:
=A&RIGHT("0000"&C,4)&B
It's certainly not convenient to have to add a new column and put in a formula. But this is not *that* difficult as a workaround until the day multcolumn sort is added back in.

How do I sort data in columns (alphabetically) using Pages?

If you are referring to text or numbers in a column (not table), then get the free Service plug-in WordService, from Devon Technologies. Put it in the
/Users/yourlogin/Library/Services folder location.
Select your data to be sorted. From the Pages menu > Services > Sort Ascending will do the trick. This will work with Pages ’09 and Pages v5.2 or later, as well as Apple Mail, TextEdit, etc.
The WordService files include a PDF (Read Me) that describes the services included with the package.
The Service items will only appear in the Services submenu when you have selected your data prior to sort. If these WordService items do not appear in the Services menu as they should per the preceding sentence, then you will need to enable them.
System Preferences > Keyboard > Shortcuts > Services. Scroll through the right hand list of services until you encounter Sort Ascending and ensure that it is selected.
If you were referring to sorting a column of data in a table:
Pages ’09
Select all cells containing your unordered data. In the Table Inspector, under Edit Rows & Columns, choose Sort Ascending.
Pages v5.2
Select cells as before. In the Table heading (A, B, C, etc.) when you roll over the letter, a down-arrow appears. Click, and choose Sort Ascending from the drop down menu.

How to enforce always sorting on a column in a TableView?

Hello,
I have a requirement to always sort on a column in a TableView.
So basically, I need a TableColumn's SortType go from Ascending to Descending and back to Ascedning when user clicks on a column header repeatedly.
I guess that means making sure a TableView's SortOrder list is not empty. Am I right?
I tried to listen to SortOrder list changes like below:

The solution I came up with was to save the last column added to the SortOrder list to a map.
Whenever the SortOrder list becomes empty, I add the last saved column back to the SortOrder list.
That seems work.

Unable to sort profit center as ascending & Decending order in KE80 & KE30

Hi,
When viewing KE30/KE80 reports and navigating by a field such as profit centre, appear to be unable to sort in ascending/descending order.
e.g. run a KE80 Report: i.e. ZPC-9000 & i.e. variant SMKT, and execute the report click on "Profit Center" under the navigation line to navigate it out to the right. Then click on the magnify glass next to the PC number (should bring up the list of all available PCs, 1259 entries found).
From this pop-up box, unable to sort the PCs by ascending/descending order regardless of what you click.Also unable to sort the Long Text by ascending/descending order regardless of what you click
Can anyone pls help on the above issue.We have to apply any note for this???.

Dear Mani,
you can sort the entries by right-clicking on the column header and chosing the sorting order in the appearing menu.

I would like to sum time values that are sorted by month/year. (Concept is based on a pilot's logbook)
In Table 1, Column A is a date; Column B is the associated time value (duration).
In Table 2, I would like to Sum the time value of Table 1 Column B by month an year.

Here's an example of what can be done:
The formula in the Total column of Summary is:
=SUMIFS(Log :: B, Log :: A, ">="&A, Log :: A, "<"&EOMONTH(A, 0)+1)
The Month column of Summary is filled with a series of dates that can be formatted as Jan-13, etc, if you wish.
I used the 0h 0m format for the Durations to distinguish it from times.

Defining sort on applet column

Requirement is to define the sorting on the column,
Normally in UI we have a columns as STATUS which can have values Green--- Red—Yellow
In UI if you click on column header. It will sort with either Green—Red ---yellow or yellow ---red—green which is ascending or descending order.
We need a change which need like this Green—yellow--- Red or Red –Yellow-Green..can this be done?

can someone point me in the right direction of how to change sorting in Finder from ascending to descending and what are the corresponding keyboard shortcuts?
I am already using the ctrl-cmd+number key shortcuts to modify my sorting, and a Google search produced the answer that I can change from ascending to descending by hitting the key-combination again. But it does not work ...

Never heard of a keyboard command to toggle the sort sequence from ascending to descending and back.
The usual way to change it is to click the highlighted column name in the Finder window.

How to configure 3 different members under a single Month column

My client requirement is to show the report in following format, where under a Month column 3 different columns having
1) Quantity (Number of unit ) of a product,
2) its rate (Amount per unit), and
3) Total (amount)    will appear in a single report.
   I have Month as a Time Dim, while Qty, Rate and Total are members of account dim.

Hi,
Use an EVDRE to create your input schedule. You need to have one row with products and 2 columns with time and account. Choose the memberset options as per the requirement. For the accounts, is total calculated with a dimension formula? If yes, then you just need to enter the values for quantity and rate and send the data. The total will be calculated by the system and will be displayed automatically.

Welcome to Apple Support Communities
When you install the new iWork version, the old iWork version is kept, so it looks like you are opening your old version.
To fix this, open a Finder window, choose Applications in the sidebar and drag the new Numbers version to the Dock, so you can access to it quickly. Open all documents from this version. I don't recommend you to delete the old Numbers version in case you need it.

Numbers sorting follows a database model in which each row is a 'record' rather than a collection of unrelated data items. When a table is sorted, the integrity of the individual records (rows) is maintained.
If you need to sort a single column, that column (or its data) must be separated from the rest of the table.
That can be done using copy/paste (as described above by Wayne), or by taking the column to be sorted out of the table, dropping it on the sheet to form a new, single column table, doing the sort, then returning the column to the original table.
The 3 1/2 step process takes longer to describe than to do.

Display Month verbiage on chart but sort by month number

Hello,
I have inserted a simple bar chart (values by month for a single year) and my goal is to get the data values to group by month.
I found that I can achieve this by using a formula that extracts the month from my Date/TIme field MONTH({Command.OB_DELIVERY_DATE}).
This works OK and displays months as 1, 2, 3, etc. on my chart), but I want to display the month text instead (Jan, Feb, Mar)
I tried a second variable: ToText({Command.OB_DELIVERY_DATE},'MMMM')
This works in displaying the verbiage of the months, however, the problem is that it groups the months on my chart alphabetically now (April is now my 1st month instead of January).
What is the trick to displaying month verbiage on my chart, but still sorting these months in their proper numerical order?

Try this please:
1) Insert a Crosstab and place it on the Report Header. Use the Delivery Date field as the row and add the measure field as the Summary Field with the right Sum function
2) Highlight the Delivery Date field > Group Options > set it to print 'For Each Mointh'
3) While in the Crosstab Expert highlight the Delivery Date field > Click Group Options > Options tab > check the option 'Customize Group Name field' > Select 'use formula as group name' and click the formula button beside. Use this code:
ToText({Command.OB_DELIVERY_DATE},'MMMM')
4) Right-click the Crosstab and select Insert Chart. Choose the right Chart Type
5) Suppress the Section that holds the Crosstab
