Sorting in Webtools pages

I am not sure but I believe record sorting may have been a feature of webtools in one if its earlier versions. It is not enabled in the current release.
Given it is a common user requirement to view products by price either singly or in pre-defined bands either in a search or product listing, can anyone shed any light on why it was apparently 'disabled' and as to whether it is planned to be re-introduced any time in the near future?
Thanks

James,
Thanks for that - I hadn't considered setting up categories to band product pricing but this does imply a lot of maintenance if product prices are regularly on the move and I think would quickly become impractical with large inventories.
I'm not sure what you mean by 'clickable' in your reply if it was so but did nothing I don't get the point ....
Unfortunately my question still remains: I think a sort by price is a very important requirement on a search or product list. I picked a random website and there it was; a little clickable arrow above the price column.
I have developed my own web apps and given that ASP.NET 2.0 provide this so conveniently I'm wondering why such an obvious enhancement could not be introduced at the next release.
I must be missing something really complex that's happening ( is it something to do with paging?)  that makes this 'not the easy job it looks from the outside'.
What is holding this up from being introduced?

  • Acrobat XI: Sorting comments by page results in out of order comments?

When I am using the comment list to go through a pdf, I like to use sort by page to order it. However, it doesn't always sort in a left to right, top to bottom format. This is becoming very confusing for my editors as they work.Sometimes it will sort mostly left to right, top to bottom, but just take one particular tool (i.e. the strikethrough text tool) and prioritize it so that no matter where it is on a line of text, it gets bumped ahead of the other comments on that line in the comment list. Other times it will sort it in a top to bottom, left to right format (i.e. you have to read in a sort of "column" fashion going down the page on the left side and then going back up to the top for the middle, then back up for the right side). When I choose sort by page, I simply want it to sort all comments on the page, no matter what type, in a left to right, top to bottom order. Is there a way to make it do this?

    > so I really need
    > them in the order I put then in on the page
suggestion one- use a different script that allows you to set
    the order.
suggestion two, using the godaddy script- rename the form
    field names/ids of
those fields so they will come in the order you want, AFTER
    the sort by the
    script.
three- don't use blank spaces in field names or ids.
    aa_my_first_field
    ba_the_name_i_want_second
    ca_broker_phone_i_want_third
using two letters in the prefix allows inserting a new field
    between
existing fields later such as bb_this_is_now_third

  • Sorting paragraphs in Pages

I haven't found a way to sort paragraphs (alphabetically) either in the word processor or in the page layout modes (iWork is new to me). Aren't word processors supposed to have a sort command? AppleWorks did.

Pages only sorts text in tables. I use the free WordService from Devon Technologies which adds this function to the Services menu. It does not sort text in tables.

  • Sorry - I'm new here but this is getting out of hand. How do you sort through 200 pages of uncategorized messages?

Since it's impossible to find anything with 100 separate posts on the same subject and no decent search tools, this will get way out of control, because people will just make a new post on something that may have already been addressed elsewhere.  RIMM?

Yes it can get a bit annoying but there is not much that can be done about. Use the search tool and just go page by page and quick look. You could tell a Moderator and give them your feedback and that the forums need to be more organized but still might be out of there hands.

  • MSIE crash (of sorts) in applet page

    Hi all
We're having the following problem: when using MSIE (6.0, the build that ships with winxp sp2) to run a java applet (the applet is a hypergraph applet, see http://hypergraph.sourceforge.net/), after a variable amount of time (from 10 minutes to 10 hours), the browser stops responding, while the applet frame "blinks" as if it is constantly reloaded. it never recovers, and killing the iexplore process is the only remedy.
Does this sound like a known bug? I've found some things on this and other forums related to Microsoft's JVM, but in this case we're using JRE from Sun 1.5.06.
    Any ideas or leads?
    regards

  • How do I sort data in columns using Pages

How do I sort data in columns (alphabetically) using Pages?

If you are referring to text or numbers in a column (not table), then get the free Service plug-in WordService, from Devon Technologies. Put it in the
    /Users/yourlogin/Library/Services folder location.
Select your data to be sorted. From the Pages menu > Services > Sort Ascending will do the trick. This will work with Pages ’09 and Pages v5.2 or later, as well as Apple Mail, TextEdit, etc.
The WordService files include a PDF (Read Me) that describes the services included with the package.
The Service items will only appear in the Services submenu when you have selected your data prior to sort. If these WordService items do not appear in the Services menu as they should per the preceding sentence, then you will need to enable them.
System Preferences > Keyboard > Shortcuts > Services. Scroll through the right hand list of services until you encounter Sort Ascending and ensure that it is selected.
If you were referring to sorting a column of data in a table:
    Pages ’09
Select all cells containing your unordered data. In the Table Inspector, under Edit Rows & Columns, choose Sort Ascending.
    Pages v5.2
Select cells as before. In the Table heading (A, B, C, etc.) when you roll over the letter, a down-arrow appears. Click, and choose Sort Ascending from the drop down menu.

  • ALV top of page - heading depending upon list output

    Hi All,
My alv grid report shows the report containing vendor account group and some other details.
My requirement is to get the page break for every new vendor account group and also print the vendor account group description at the top of the list (in header section).
I have achieved this by using * in sort table for page break and in top of page , I am reading the vendor acct grp desc table to print the header based on index sy-pagno.
But this solution is only working in print preview mode. If I print the output, actual page breaks are getting applied and I am not getting the desired output as logic using sy-pagno is giving wrong output.
My question is is there any way to get the current list in the top of page event? So that depending upon the displayed vendor acct grp per page, I will print its description?
OR is there any other way to achieve this functionality?

    Any suggestions?

  • InDesign CS5 crashes when I try to do anything with a certain 5 pages in document (even scroll past)

I'm having issues with five pages within an InDesign document.
I was trying to export a document to PDF, but a couple of images weren't showing up on a couple of pages.  So I tried exporting to PDF in a couple of different ways to see if that would help.  It didn't.  Instead, InDesign started crashing constantly.  Turning Preflight off helped with that, and I was able to clear out any other potential problems (potentially problematic PDFs placed in the document, .eps images).  I tried exporting as .idml, but it created 4 kb files that couldn't be opened; I think InDesign was crashing before the file could finish exporting.  Now that I can get the document open for extended periods of time, I've tried exporting as a .idml file again, and it gets to 83% complete and doesn't finish.
I started trying to export as PDF again, and by exporting parts of the document, I was able to narrow the problem down to pages 162-166.  I don't know what's different about these pages.  I have the PDF that I managed to export successfully before it started crashing constantly (the one with the missing images--and to clarify, these missing images aren't on any of the problem pages, so it appears to be an unrelated issue), and from looking at those pages, I can't see what the issue is.
    p. 162 - text and a table
    p. 163 - text and an image
    p. 164 - text
    p. 165 - text and an image
    p. 166 - text
I can't even scroll past these pages.  Even in the Pages sidebar.  It crashes. Here is the crash log from when I tried to scroll past.  http://pastebin.com/B7ax4cAx
Here's a crash report for when I try to export those pages to PDF:  http://pastebin.com/E6dA1igA
I'm using CS5 on OS X 10.5.8.  When I started having these problems, I realized that I hadn't updated InDesign in awhile, so I updated to the latest.  I'm using 7.0.4 now.

    Try reseting the preferences.
or  delete Mark II folder from the location
    Windows 7/Vista: C:\ProgramData\Adobe\SING\Mark II
Mac OS: [Startup Disk]/Library/Applications Support/Adobe/SING/Mark II
    It will fix this..
This problem is pretty definitely not SING, so deleting the Mark II folder is not going to help. (It wont't hurt, though!)
Resetting prefrences is always a good thing to try.
I suspect it is a corrupt story thread of some sort. Moving pages to a new document, exporting stories to IDML, copying the file and deleting pages until the problem goes away...those are things I would try.

  • Annoying separator page

How to I stop the printer from printing the separator page?  HP4500 Officejet Wireless.  Windows 8.1 OS.
In the properties, the device settings only allow for identification of the separator page, but not the option to omit.
    Thanks.

Are you sure that you have identified which type of separator page is being printed?
There are various types, controlled from different places:
Spooler separator page , usually controlled via one of the tabs on the Printer Properties dialogue.
Application-specific print infomation page, sent (if enabled) from some application (e.g. Word).
With some printers, I think that the printer itself can be configured to print some sort of separator page; I have no access to, nor knowledge of, your printer model, so have no idea if this is applicable.
Print jobs may be sent to some printers via LPR (rather than port 9100); in such cases, I think that there may be an option to enable an LPR information page

  • Blank Pages on Vist

I am using a Vista laptop that prints to a networked HP LaserJet 4+ computer.  I use that for printing checks only (it has the MICR toner cartridge).  Because the printer has a Parallel port and my laptop doesn't, I have it networked over a peer-to-peer network to a system running Windows XP.
If I print from the XP computer, the print works properly.
If I print from my system, I always get a second page, blank, between every printed page.  If I print checks, it will alternate a check with a blank page.  If I print a test page from the Printer properties dialog, it prints the test page and then ejects a second page.
I checked the printer set up and found that I had form length set to 60 lines and have changed that to 66 lines but still have the same problem (and it works correctly from the XP system using the either 66 or 60 Lines setting).
I have checked on the HP site for support to see if an updated driver for the printer would help but there are no drivers other than what is available through Windows Vista.
Does anyone have an idea of how I can stop the extra page from printing?  I 'can' sort out the pages but when you run 40 checks, it is a pain.
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi,
This issue is mostly caused when the printer driver used is the one provided by Microsoft along with Vista. You can reinstall the printer driver provided by HP by following these instructions:
    1. Click on the Start button, and in 'Start Search', type 'Control Printers', or just 'printers', and press the Enter button.
    2. Right click on your printer icon, then click on 'Run as Administrator', and click on 'Properties'.
    3. Click on the Advanced tab and click on 'New Driver'.
    4. Follow the wizard, and when searching for your printer, look under 'Hewlett-Packard'. If that is not available, then select 'HP'.
    5. If the printer driver is not listed there, then select the 'Have Disk' option, and choose the driver from the installation CD.
    6. Finish the wizard, click on 'Apply', and try to print.
I've tried this many times, and the success rate for me is 100%. So i'm very sure it'll work.

  • How to create a new aspx page in Pages library using Elements.xml without including any aspx page layout in my feature?

Is it possible to have the elements.xml file create a page in the Pages (or SitePages) library without actually including any sort of page layout or aspx artifact in the feature?
I see no reason to add a mywebpartlayout.aspx to my feature just so I can deploy a Home.aspx based on the BlankWebPart.aspx page layout.
I'm sure there is something obvious I am missing with regards to the Elements schema (which is why I've almost given up on using it completely and just gone to pure C#) but
I would really like to do this kind of simple stuff with declarations if at all possible. Must less code to write, debug, test and maintain.

I don't see how my question keeps getting misunderstood. This seems to be very clear and clearly not answered: "Is it possible to have the Elements.xml file
create a page in the Pages (or SitePages) library without actually including any sort of page layout or aspx artifact in the feature?"
I can't be more clear than "without including ANY sort of page layout or aspx artifact (meaning anything ending in aspx) IN THE FEATURE". I am not capitalizing to yell,
only to emphasize. Your disagreement is based on a link that shows ADDING AN ARTIFACT (the dummy MyPage.aspx) to a feature. I am asking if it
is possible (again, I cannot be more clear) to just use an Elements.xml file to instruct SharePoint to make a new item in a Pages or SitePages library.
Your definition of page includes Page Layouts and what you call Web Part Pages (again, a type of page layout + data in a site pages list that says what webparts
to display). Page Layouts are clearly NOT items stored inside of a SitePages or Publishing Pages library. Those libraries are just lists whose records
define the parts to show inside a specific layout.
When I refer to a Page I mean an entry into a pages (site pages/publishing pages) list. If I wanted to deploy a page layout then, quite obviously, I would need
to include it into my solution. I think maybe you are assuming that I do not know the difference. I do. The question is, can an Elements file alone be enough to instruct SharePoint to make a new entry into a Pages or SitePages library.
Now, your second link does show how to reference an existing Page Layout. Thank you for that. It is excellent. But this still leaves the problem of having to
add some sort of aspx page into the solution. Let me try to explain why I feel this SHOULD BE unnecessary: The aspx file will not have anything on it if I am referring to the ~sitecollections/.../BlankWebPartPage.aspx layout.
All web parts and content that should appear on the new page can be described IN the Elements.xml file. Any sort of aspx file is unnecessary, it seems to me.
So, if I am referencing a ~sitecollections/.../BlankWebPartPage.aspx page layout and specifying the web parts to add to the page, why should there be a
requirement to have some aspx file within the feature? That's what I am trying to figure out.
I am not asking for source code as proof. I am asking for an Elements file that does NOT reference anything AT ALL inside the Visual Studio solution for reasons I just described.
If you do not know how to do it then perhaps it cannot be done but I would like the question to stay unanswered for a little while until someone can demonstrate either a) it CAN
be done or b) a link to some Microsoft document stating that it is MANDATORY to have a physical element within the feature that gets copied to the environment.
I think it is important to understand what is being asked before insisting you have answered. It is clear from your posts that you have not fully understood the question yet but
I am hoping this posts makes it clear. I really appreciate you taking the time to respond, though. You seem to be the only one up for the challenge! :)

  • Color looks different within a document in different page

    Hi,
I created a square with a green stroke (RGB-0.255.0) that I had placed on different pages within a document.
On some pages, the green looks perfect and some other pages it looks like it is converted in CMYK, The green doesn't look the same.
Does anyone have an idea why?
    Thanks

There's probably transparency of some sort on those pages and your transparency blend space is set to CMYK.

  • Pass parameter to apex page via the URL

Hi, I need to pass a parameter into a page that will be used in a query inside a report region,
    e.g report region query is
    select link_id, page_id, menu_parent_id, link_text, link_url
    from portal_pages
    where page_id = :page_id
So the page will display different links depending on what value is passed to the page in the variable.
I know with normal URL syntax it would be something like
http://www.domain.com/page.html&page_id=1 (where page_id is a hidden variable in apex)
but how do I do this with an apex page like :-
http://host:port/pls/apex/f?p=123:9 <what goes here ? and what goes in the page for it to work>
Any help appreciated - noob to Apex
    Thanks
    Phil.

If your item to be used in the url is P1_Page_Id, the
    url should be something like:<br>
    http://host:port/pls/apex/f?p=123:9:page_id:&P1_Page_I
    d.
Thanks for comments, understand the syntax of the apex URLs now, got the item sorted in the page now, all working.
