Before Posting:
Is your sound card not working? Do you need advice on what to try to fix it? Then you are at the right place. Before posting your question, there are a few things you will want to check first.
Perhaps your question has already been asked and answered. Thousands of questions have been asked and are all stored here on the forums. Right above that orange navigation bar is the search bar, try searching for what you are experiencing. If there is a thread but it doesn't answer your question, check the date, if it is several weeks since the last reply it would be better to name a new thread then resurrect the dead thread.
Also before posting collect as much information about your card as possible. Get the model number off of the card/device itself and also the inkstamp number (found on an inkstamp or silkscreen on the non-chip side of the card) if you have a sound card. Please note that if you have a card that was preinstalled in your computer by the manufacturer or you bought the card in a brown box or static bag that it is most likely an OEM card. In cases like these it may be best to contact the retailer or the manufacturer (don't forget to check their forums if they have them) for support as the cards can be very different from the retail versions.
Lost CD, Need Drivers:
Standalone drivers are available for many of our sound cards and devices on our website. The best way to check is to go to Support/Downloads and select your product from the list and click next. Then you select your Operating System from the drop box (keep the other options on their defaults) and click go. The very first section should be the driver listings. Just because a driver says that it is an update, doesn't mean that it isn't a standalone driver. The best way to check is to click on the details button and read the requirements section. If it doesn't say that it requires previous drivers then it is most likely stand alone and is worth installing. These standalone drivers usually include a configuration utility called "CTpanel.exe" that a quick search of your drive after install will locate. You can use this to set the card up.
If your card does not list standalone drivers then you will want to contact support to obtain an install CD.
If your card is OEM, you will need to contact the manufacturer of your system or the retailer you purchased it from for the install CD. There can be major differences between retail and OEM models and the retailer or manufacturer are provided with drivers specific to the card they are distributing.
Standard Troubleshooting:
If you are going to ask a question, there are a few standard troubleshooting steps that are suggested for almost any problem. You should really check them out before posting a question as it can save you a lot of time waiting on replies.
First off, try a cleansweep and reinstall of your card. Often all that the card needs is a fresh start. The steps for this are found in these Knowledgebase articles:

If that doesn't work, not all is lost. There are many standard troubleshooting steps that are used for almost all problems. Fortunately we have a separate Kbase article that covers these steps. It even has suggestions for specific problems. Here is that link:

Popping Clicking, Hissing, and Other Sound anomalies:

If Nothing Above Works:
One last thing to try would be to clean boot your version of Windows. Perhaps an application is getting in the way of the card working correctly. Try it and see if the card works when clean booting into Windows. If so then something that is starting up is interfering with the card.

Boston Acoustic Digital Speakers or Prebuilt System With a Digital Live! Card
Some name brand systems shipped with a special Live! Value card that was made to work with digital speakers. If you system shipped with a Live! Value and you have digital speakers you will need to use drivers provided by your system manufacturer. If you use the drivers on the Creative website your card will no longer work with your digital speakers.
If you have a set of Boston Acoustic digital speakers that came with your system and they are not working with your sound card, make sure you have it connected to the digital out on the card. Also make sure that the digital out is enabled.

If none of this helps, then it is probably time to go ahead and post your question. Make sure to let everyone know what you have already tried from this article, otherwise you may get responses suggesting you try them again.

I'm extremely certain this has nothing to do with Creative. I recently tried a Turtle Beach Riviera 5. sound card in my Asus A8V board with the same poor result. Onboard sound works fine as long as you remove the PCI card. Oddly, the four sound cards I've tried (three by Creative) work fine on the same MB using Windows 98. Only Windows XP has this issue, but since it works fine if you restart/wake up from standby/or hit F0 after entering the BIOS, it's obviously directly related to the BIOS.
Since this problem has gone on for so long with no acknowledgment from Asus, I'm not very hopeful this will ever get fixed. I've considered trying an M-Audio Revolution 5. and see if that works, but I know it's a long shot. I'm also not sure if I want to risk close to $00 on a sound card that I figure has a 0% chance of working.
(If ANYONE out there in the world has a sound card that works with games on an Asus A8V - please, please, pretty please post in this forum so we can all go out and get it!)
It absolutely amazes me that a problem this significant slipped by Asus during their supposed "4,000 dedicated man hours" of testing!

    The troubleshooting steps for the camera on the iPad are similar to the iPhone:  I've highlighted the pertinent steps below:

    Camera
    If the screen shows a closed lens or black image, force quit the Camera app.
    If you do not see the Camera app on the Home screen, try searching for it in Spotlight. If the camera does not show up in the search, check to make sure that Restrictions are not turned on by tapping Settings > General > Restrictions.
    Ensure the camera lens is clean and free from any obstructions. Use a microfiber polishing cloth to clean the lens.
    Third-party cases can interfere with the autofocus/exposure feature and the flash; try removing the case if you have image-quality issues with photos.
    Try turning the iPad off and then back on.
    Tap to focus the camera on the subject. The image may pulse or briefly go in and out of focus as it adjusts.
    Try switching between the front and the back cameras to verify if the issue persists on both.

  • I was concerned after reading all of the negative posts about the Micro .

    I just received my Micro (Light Blue, thank you) this afternoon. I had replied to some of the posts the other night expressing my concern over potential troubles with the unit. I read horror stories about firmware and software problems, players and systems locking up, poor quality USB drivers and/or cables and countless hours spent searching through forums and sending units back for replacement.
    I'm happy to report that I thus far have had absolutely NO trouble with my Micro. Software instillation was smooth and my first transfer (about .5 gigs) only took about 30 minutes or so and was flawless!! Audio quality is superb and it sounds even better through my new Inspire T3000 speaker system.
    I should apologize to those who may have been discouraged by my previously pessimistic attitude in earlier posts. I also want to thank the few of you who did respond positi'vely to my questions and helped put aside my fears. You guys were right !! I love this thing ............

    hsalter3, by reading the title of your post, I thought that your posting is going to be negati've. It turns out to be the opposite. Since you are going to post positi've comments, you should choose a more appropriate title for your post. Otherwise, it may mislead a lot of people who just browse through the titles only.
    Similarly, your post almost misled people regarding the transfer speed. Luckily, someone questioned further and you made a clarification.
    Anyway, it nice knowing that you like the Zen Micro.

  • HT1600 After updating my Apple TV software this morning, I now have no sound. It is hooked up to play through my television speakers. Any ideas on how to get sound back? It was working fine before the update.

    I have tried re-booting Apple TV as well as the television, etc.

    Have you tried adjusting the "Audio Out" and the "Dolby Digital" settings in settings > audio and video? It may be worth trying several combinations of these settings, although typically it is the "Dolby Digital" setting that causes most problems for users.
    Also make sure that you have correctly mapped the input port on your sound system to the output, if you are unsure about how to do this, refer to the manual that came with your sound system.
    Have you tried playing various content sources (i.e. podcasts, music, iTunes Store video, other video etc), do you have the same problem with all types of content? If you use optical you might also check that you can see a red light at the end of your optical audio cable. Is your optical audio cable plugged straight into your sound system, or does it go through a switch or other device?

  • I can't uninstall my Sound Blaster applications!

    I just tried to reinstall my Sound Blaster Audigy software using the original CDs and for some reason, it wreaked havoc on my Windows XP SP3 System. All of my audio files were automatically changed to open with Play Center and my Windows Sound Scheme disappeared. The other strange thing is that even though I used my original installation CDs, it installed strange new Sound Blaster applications that I never had before: Sound Blaster Audigy Web 2K/XP and Sound Blaster Li've! To make matters worse I can't uninstall any of the Sound Blaster Audigy software because it's telling me:
    Setup is unable to find installation languages in C:\Program Files\Creative\Uninstall\SETUP.LID file. ERROR 05?I'm also getting a registry error saying:
    Missing File: C:\Program Files\Creative\SBLi've2K\PlayCenter2\Ctplay2.Exe?< p class="MsoNormal">C:\Program Files\Creative\SBLi've2K\PlayCenter2\Ctplay2.Exe cannot access a necessary file, rprgctrl.dll

    If you are in Windows (which you haven't said), you can try using this tool to remove all traces of previous versions of Reader:

  • Creative Sound blaster 5.1 prob

    Hi all,
    I bought a creative sound blaster 5. sound card yesterday to replace my onboard realtek alc655 soundcard hoping that i can hear a sound? from my edifier m3350 5. speakers but it failed me.
    I done the creative diagnostic, all had pass. Then I test the speaker, front left have no sounds but there is sound from the subwoofer (voice: "Front left"); center is perfect i can hear it; front right is the same as front left it is coming from the subwoofer. Rear left and rear right have no sounds at all.
    This is also my problem with my onboard realtek alc655, i only have a sound with the center/subwoofer and front that is why i buy a creative sound card.
    All are connected in proper way,
    Green (soundblaster) Green (speaker) Front
    Black (soundblaster) Black (speaker) Rear
    orange (soundblaster) orange (speaker) Center/subwoofer

  • Please Read this ! USB Sound Blaster 24-Bit External : The Story of the endless problem

    In order to keep the good behavior here (I`m really pissed off !) I just?want to tell you something (this is ESPECIALLY for all the guys from the stuff)?Before 2 days I`ve decided to buy a new sound system for my room. I bought myself Creative Inspire t600 5. surround system. Cool. I was very happy. I?needed only to buy a sound card?working with 5. because I have a notebook DELL INSPIRON 50 who has only 2 canals. So in order to be everything beautiful I gave $70 for Usb sound blaster 24-Bit external. And from that time the problems began. In short :? I was using Vista but I found out that it wont work with this soundcard. The first problem : Didn`t identify the device. I tried with several drivers... Nope. No sound card with Vista.(This problem seems to appearance with many owners like me)?I pluged the usb soundcard in my old pc running XP and it worked . PERFECTLY. So I removed Vista from my notebook and intalled XP. This took me whole day to rebuild all my software. Finally it left to set up the sound drivers. The cherry of the icecream. Aaaaand ..... **bleep**. When I play?any track it CRACKLES. Again problem appearanced with many here. I tried to find out here what is the problem but unfortunately as u can see my english is quite bad?so I cant understand?what I need.I really like Creative but if they cant manage this problem I will?no longer buy their stuffs??JUST PLEASE SOMEBODY ANSWER ME IS THERE ANY SOLUTION FOR THIS OR NOT.     Rosetta is designed to translate currently shipping applications that run on a PowerPC with a G3 processor and that are built for Mac OS X.
    Rosetta does not run the following:
    Applications built for Mac OS 8 or 9
    Code written specifically for AltiVec
    Code that inserts preferences in the System Preferences pane
    Applications that require a G4 or G5 processor
    Applications that depend on one or more kernel extensions
    Kernel extensions
    Bundled Java applications or Java applications with JNI libraries that can’t be translated
    Classic is just not supported.
    It is clear that apps that need the G4, G5 or Altivec Code won't run under Rosetta.

  • Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio: Many issues I have been faci

    Hello everyone. This is my first post at these forums, with the hopes of getting my issues resolved once and for all.
    First and foremost, let me inform you that I have very high experience with computer hardware.
    A couple weeks ago, I bought a Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio sound card from a local retailer. (Yes, I am aware that this is not an actual X-Fi card with the designated chip). I previously had an onboard sound solution on my motherboard, and uninstalled and removed all of the drivers COMPLETELY before I installed my new sound card. I then opened up my case, and continued with the installation of the card. After I had downloaded and installed all of the latest drivers, I immediately started to notice issues with the card. My MAIN problem is that if I have a specific application open, whatever it may be, one of my headphones, either left or right, will stop producing sound, and then is followed by the second one, which leaves me with no sound output at all. If I restart the application, the problem is temporarily fixed, but then comes back again within a few minutes.
    This is VERY irritating to me, seeing as I originally thought the problem was not with the sound card. Believe it or not, I reinstalled my copy of windows over 5 times throughout the course of the last few weeks in hopes of finally fixing the issue. And here I am, on a brand new installation of windows, and the problem STILL persists.
    I can assure you all of my hardware is functioning correctly as I have tried 2 other sound cards which have not had any issues like this whatsoever.
    Yes, I have read the FAQ, but I couldn't seem to find the solution to my issue there, which is why I am posting it here. Sorry if I sound irritated, but this has bothered me very much and I have been starting to lose a lot of hope in Creative...
