  • ORA-01400 error on a mandatory column with Default value

    Hi,
    I have got a mapping, which is loading from one view to a target table. In the target table there is a column which is marked as "NOT NULL" also has got Default value. But my mapping is failing with ORA-01400 error.
    Could you please guide me which setting in the mapping will make it load the default value in the target column?
    Regards,

    I should add - I guess I can always put my own custom process in to replace the DML. Just seems like a simple thing - if the value doesn't appear on the debug, isn't set with any default value... don't include it in the DML.

    i put condition for null .But if i dont fill the fields,even then the executeQuery is executing without checking the condition.
    wht is the problem
    what i want to change in my code.

    1. Use code tags when you post code.
    2. Use prepared statements.
    3. If you have a field that requires a non-null entry then you must provide a non-null value. And for Oracle that means non-empty as well.

    Hi
    I am going to assume that ENTRY_DATE should be the date that the user created the record - otherwise, you will have to add this field to your form to get the user to fill it in.
    You need to check how your DAILY_ENTRY_DETAILS table is set up.
    Go to SQL Workshop, Object Browser and in the list of tables, select DAILY_ENTRY_DETAILS, then click on the SQL option above the table definition and you should see something like:
    CREATE TABLE  "A_LOV1"
       (     "LOV1" NUMBER,
         "LOV1_NAME" VARCHAR2(100),
          CONSTRAINT "A_LOV1_PK" PRIMARY KEY ("LOV1") ENABLE
    CREATE OR REPLACE TRIGGER  "BI_A_LOV1"
      before insert on "A_LOV1"
      for each row
    begin
      if :NEW."LOV1" is null then
        select "A_LOV1_SEQ".nextval into :NEW."LOV1" from dual;
      end if;
    end;
    ALTER TRIGGER  "BI_A_LOV1" ENABLE
    /(This is based on one of my tables, so the names etc will be different for you).
    In the first block, the CONSTRAINT line tells you whether or not you have a primary key on the table - in the example above, the primary key field is LOV1. If this is not set up, you must do this - click on the Constraints option at the top of the page and click Create then follow the prompts.
    The next block is a TRIGGER. This is set to run whenever a record is inserted into the table. A record being inserted is referred to as :NEW. You can see from the example that, in this case, when the record is being inserted, the value in the Primary Key is checked. If it is null, then a new sequence number is generated (see below) and the record is updated with this number before the record is saved.
    The final block just switches the trigger on
    You will see that this trigger says "select A_LOV1_SEQ.nextval...". This refers to a "sequence" object. Go back to the Object Browser and select Sequences. In my example, there is a sequence called A_LOV_SEQ which, if I select it and look at the sql, it is defined as:
    CREATE SEQUENCE "A_LOV1_SEQ"  MINVALUE 1 MAXVALUE 99999999999999999999999 INCREMENT BY 1 START WITH 1 NOCACHE NOORDER NOCYCLEThis is a counter that is used by the trigger to get the next Primary Key value for the record.
    If you don't have the sequence, you will need to set it up. This can be done by clicking the Create button at the top right and following the prompts. Or you can copy the above, change the sequence name as required and then run this in the SQL Commands window
    If you don't have the trigger, you can copy the code above and edit it to suit your table needs.
    Now for the ENTRY_DATE issue. If this is to be automatically set to the current date, you can handle this in the trigger. For example - assume I had that field on my table, then my trigger would be:
    CREATE OR REPLACE TRIGGER  "BI_A_LOV1"
      before insert on "A_LOV1"
      for each row
    begin
      if :NEW."LOV1" is null then
        select "A_LOV1_SEQ".nextval into :NEW."LOV1" from dual;
      end if;
      if :NEW."ENTRY_DATE" is null then
        :NEW."ENTRY_DATE" := SYDATE;
      end if;
    end;
    ALTER TRIGGER  "BI_A_LOV1" ENABLE
    /SYSDATE just means the current date/time
    The CREATE and ALTER statements must be run separately in the SQL Commands window
    Once you have that set up correctly, your form should work

  • Autconfig error : ORA-01400: cannot insert NULL into ("APPLSYS"."FND_NODES"."NODE_NAME")

    Good day,
    I am running EBS 11.5.10  with DB 10.2.0.4. I applied patch 7429271 following the steps in  Doc Id. 233044.1.
    After restarting the application, I got a "node id does not exist for the current application" when the forms started.
    After purging fnd nodes (exec fnd_conc_clone.setup_clean) I ran autoconfig successfully on the dbtier but got the error below in the apps tier.
    I also noticed that the contents of my dbc file has been erased and replaced with the template data (all values are default). I tried restoring it but it just got over written again with default data.
    Hope my explanation was clear enough.
    Any suggestions?

    We followed all configuration guide lines for weblogic given in configuration guide by oracle.
    When installation is at 74 percent installation stops with following error--
    [2013-07-25 14:17:46,762 IST] [ERROR] [.kernel.Default (self-tuning)'] [fatwire.logging.cs.db] Exception executing prepared statement: INSERT INTO tt1374741961848 (ELEMENTNAME,DESCRIPTION) VALUES (?,?)

    I installed Weblogic 10.3.6 and still the same error is occurring.
    I revoked the DBA role from the user and only gave it the privileges mentioned in the documentation. Those privileges are:
    CREATE SESSION
    CREATE TABLE
    CREATE VIEW
    UNLIMITED TABLESPACE
    However, the documentation doesn't mention anything about the Connect and Resources roles.
    Please take into consideration that the error is not related to any privileges or roles the user does not have. This is a ORA-0140 error meaning that the installer is trying to insert a null value into the URL column in the TT1343304398222 table.
    Any ideas ???

  • Impdp errors with ORA-01400: cannot insert NULL into

    Hi Experts,
    I have very intresting situation when I use impdp to import table back to DB.
    Environment:
    Database Server: 10.2.0.4 Enterprise
    OS: RHEL 5.5 64-bit
    We have a table and it's size is 350+ GB and so to reclaim space I want to perform expdp/impdp operation. When I following below steps:
    1) expdp table
    2) drop table
    3) impdp full table
    It works like a charm and I am able to reclaim 83% space and table size shows about 20GB.
    But when I follow below method:
    1) expdp table
    2) truncate table (To save some time not to import indexes, stats, constraints , etc)
    3) impdp table
    I get following error:
    Connected to: Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.2.0.4.0 - 64bit Production
    With the Partitioning, OLAP, Data Mining and Real Application Testing options

    Job "SYS"."SYS_IMPORT_TABLE_01" completed with 1 error(s) at 16:12:28
    Please advise how to proceed further, it seems like I am hitting some sort of Bug but metalink does not show any.

    expdp and impdp operations should not be executed as SYS - try SYSTEM account instead. See first Note section here - http://docs.oracle.com/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b14215/dp_import.htm#sthref243
    Pl post the complete expdp and impdp commands used, along with a description of the table for which you encounter this error.

  • Xpath ORA-01400 Null error

    Sorry if this is a stupid query but I'm trying to store data from xml document in multiple tables using Xpath, but every time get ORA-01400: cannot insert NULL into ("PROJECT"."INS_CLAIM"."CLAIMID")
    the ClaimID for the document however does contain a value. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

    Yes. I have entered "IMMEDIATE" as payment terms .
    Has this issue got something to do with Doc sequence numbering... partially used or not used or no document sequence defined.. we are investigating that angle now... I am refering to the Document Number in the Transactions region of the Transactions form.
    In the mean time, we recompiled the form but are still facing the same issue..

  • Weblogic 8.1 SP2 ORA-01000 caused by Weblogic's pending XA recovery process.

    Hi, we are migrating our application from Weblogic 6.1 SP5 to Weblogic 8.1
    SP2 and we are facing the nasty ORA-01000 problem.
    After tracking it for some days we happened to find "what" was causing it.
    After issuing the following select on an Oracle instance used by a weblogic
    running for a day
    SELECT sql_text,count(*) FROM V$OPEN_CURSOR
    GROUP BY sql_text
    ORDER BY sql_text
    and this is what we get::
    SQL_TEXT COUNT(*)
    ALTER SESSION SET NLS_LANGUAGE = 'AMERICAN' 2
    ALTER SESSION SET NLS_TERRITORY = 'AMERICA' 2
    SELECT 1 FROM DUAL 2
    SELECT VALUE FROM NLS_INSTANCE_PARAMETERS WHERE PARAMETER =' 2
    SELECT count (*) FROM SYS.DBA_PENDING_TRANSACTIONS 2
    SELECT formatid, globalid, branchid FROM SYS.DBA_PENDING_TRA 2669
    SELECT max(version) FROM "SYS"."JAVA$POLICY$SHARED$TABLE" 2
    begin :1 := JAVA_XA.xa_commit_new (:2,:3,:4,:5); end; 2
    begin :1 := JAVA_XA.xa_end_new(:2,:3,:4,:5); end; 2
    begin :1 := JAVA_XA.xa_start_new(:2,:3,:4,:5,:6); end; 2
    insert into javasnm$(short, longname, longdbcs) values(:1,:2 2
    select longname from javasnm$ where short = :1 2
    (In fact there are two Weblogic instances running against the same Oracle
    instance and as we didn't filtered by connection I supouse that's why
    numbers "seem" to be "duplicated")
    We do currently have 1500 cursors max declared for session in our Oracle's
    ora.init file.
    After activating Weblogic's jdbc.log we have seen that with an interval of 5
    seconds the
    SELECT formatid, globalid, branchid FROM SYS.DBA_PENDING_TRANSACTIONS
    is issued against the DBMS.
    After executing both selects on an SQLPLUS console we have seen that the
    SELECT count(*)... sentence returns 1 and after looking at
    SYS.DBA_2PC_PENDING table there is one transaction on it (although it was
    already manually rollback forced three months ago). I know we should delete
    already forced transactions in order to clean up that table but the fact is
    we didn't and maybe that is what is causing Weblogic issuing the second
    select (the SELECT formatid, globalid... one) periodically.
    A number of questions come to our mind:
    1. Is this Weblogic's correct behaviour? I mean, is it normal for weblogic
    to issue this select every five seconds?
    If yes.
    2. Why is this select leaving opened cursors? I presume that this select is
    being executed within a transaction and it's neither commited nor rolledback
    If actually it is being executed within a transaction then:
    3. Why is Weblogic opening a transaction to issue a select?
    As additional info we have two datasources configured into our weblogic
    server, I must say we do use TopLink as our persistence manager and it
    requires both transactional (XA) and not transactional datasources to work.
    We are using Oracle thin drivers (classes12.zip) to connect to an Oracle
    8.1.7 database instance. I know that Weblogic 8.1 now ships with the
    ojdbc14.jar Oracle thin driver classes but we are not sure if we can use it
    with Oracle 8.1.7 (as it seems to be prepared to be used with Oracle 9.0.2.
    Is it?).
    Looking at jdbc.log we can also see this at the beginging of the file:
    java.sql.SQLException: SQL operations are not allowed with no global
    transaction by default for XA drivers. If the XA driver supports performing
    SQL operations with no global transaction, explicitly allow it by setting
    "SupportsLocalTransaction" JDBC connection pool property to true. In this
    case, also remember to complete the local transaction before using the
    connection again for global transaction, else a XAER_OUTSIDE XAException may
    result. To complete a local transaction, you can either set auto commit to
    true or call Connection.commit() or Connection.rollback().
    I have readed somewhere at edocs.bea.com that Weblogic 8.1 -by default-
    begins a transaction whenever using an XA connection (as some XA drivers
    require a transaction to be started when using them, although IIRC this can
    be disabled on Weblogic's console). If in fact it happens that we can
    disable the default transaction oppening when using an XA connection, is it
    safe? Is there a prefered way to solve this than disabling the transaction
    "auto begining" feature?
    I think there is also possible to disable Weblogic's pending transactions
    auto-recover mechanism but we think this is a great Weblogic feature and we
    would prefer not having to do it. As in two years we have managed to get
    about three of them due to unexpected server crashes (even if it those cases
    Weblogic 6.1 didn't managed to recover them at least it showed the problem
    on the log).
    Thanks if advance.
    Regards.
    Ignacio.

    Seems that removing classes12.zip from the classpath solves the problem. I
    don't get that periodic error any more so now I don't get the ORA-01000. I
    still seeing -from time to time- the "SQL operations are not allowed with no
    global
    transaction by default for XA drivers" error in the jdbc.log though, so I
    presume the ORA-01000 would raise sooner or later but now with a much larger
    period after starting the server.
    Well there seems that ojdbc14.jar has not so subtle changes. Let's hope
    there are not "newer" issues with it that would not happen with
    classes12.zip.
    Ignacio.

  • ORA-01400 - not null column with default value and item with authorization

    I've searched - I would think someone has run into this. APEX 3.0.0.00.20 - I've created a simple form on a table. One of the column is a not null column with a default value. I have a select list on that item, but it has security on it - authorization scheme. So, it checks the user and if that user isn't of the right role, it will not even display that item. However, APEX appears to still send in the column in its sql! So, the default value is useless, it sends in null each time. Even if I set the default at the Item level, I get null. Argg. That's got to be a bug...
    In debug, I do not see the item listed at all. It's not used. That's fine - but why is it trying to insert the value? I would think it would leave it off??? I think because the item is associated with a database column. But, getting around this is ugly. Having to create a hidden item for each one, and then check to see if I need to take the list value... horrible. Any way to get around this???

    I should add - I guess I can always put my own custom process in to replace the DML. Just seems like a simple thing - if the value doesn't appear on the debug, isn't set with any default value... don't include it in the DML.
