Space issue in Firefox related to Flash banner

I have a website with validated XHTML and CSS that displays an unwanted space only in Firefox under a Flash banner.  The site has been tested in IE6/7/8, Firefox, Chrome, Safari, Opera, AOL, and Netscape.  Firefox is the only problem.  After posting this issue to Experts Exchange, it was determined that the code Dreamweaver generates to insert Flash causes the problem.  An expert on that site originally thought there were two instances of the object and removed what handles IE.  The site then displayed correctly in all other browsers, but would continuously try to load the Flash file in IE. Obviously, that is not the resolution.  I have tried inserting various IECCs without finding the right combination.  --  The live site is http://www.imfgsol.com.  The test page that contains code suggested by Experts Exchange is http://www.imfgsol.com/default2.html  --  I would great appreciate any help resolving this issue!!  Thanks!

Thanks so much for your help!  Adding the param, removing the IECCs, and correcting the tag closing resolved the issue.  The http://www.imfgsol.com/default2.html page now loads in IE 6/7/8 and validates.
For anyone that might have this issue, following was the problem and resolution:
When inserting a Flash banner using Dreamweaver, the following code was created:
<object classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000" width="963" height="113" class="imgpad" vspace="0" id="FlashID" title="Innovative Manufacturing Solutions">
      <param name="movie" value="images/IMSbanner.swf" />
      <param name="quality" value="high" />
      <param name="wmode" value="opaque" />
      <param name="swfversion" value="6.0.65.0" />
      <!-- This param tag prompts users with Flash Player 6.0 r65 and higher to download the latest version of Flash Player. Delete it if you don’t want users to see the prompt. -->
      <param name="expressinstall" value="Scripts/expressInstall.swf" />
      <!-- Next object tag is for non-IE browsers. So hide it from IE using IECC. -->
      <!--[if !IE]>-->
      <object data="images/IMSbanner.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="963" height="113" vspace="0">
        <!--<![endif]-->
        <param name="quality" value="high" />
        <param name="wmode" value="opaque" />
        <param name="swfversion" value="6.0.65.0" />
        <param name="expressinstall" value="Scripts/expressInstall.swf" />
        <!-- The browser displays the following alternative content for users with Flash Player 6.0 and older. -->
        <div>
          <h4>Content on this page requires a newer version of Adobe Flash Player.</h4>
          <p><a href="http://www.adobe.com/go/getflashplayer"><img src="http://www.adobe.com/images/shared/download_buttons/get_flash_player.gif" alt="Get Adobe Flash player" width="112" height="33" /></a></p>
          </div>
        <!--[if !IE]>-->
        </object>
      <!--<![endif]-->
    </object>
The display was fine in all browsers other than Firefox.  In Firefox, an unwanted space was created due to the way it read the IE code.  The space below the banner is illustrated here:
By removing the separate objects and IECCs and adding the param as suggested, there is no longer a space in Firefox and the display is correct in IE 6/7/8, Firefox, Chrome, Safari, Opera, AOL, and Netscape.  The code that works correctly is:
<object data="images/IMSbanner.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="963" height="113" vspace="0">
        <param name="movie" value="images/IMSbanner.swf" />
        <param value="high" name="quality" />
        <param value="opaque" name="wmode" />
        <param value="6.0.65.0" name="swfversion" />
        <param value="Scripts/expressInstall.swf" name="expressinstall" />
        <img width="112" height="33" alt="Get Adobe Flash player" src="http://www.adobe.com/images/shared/download_buttons/get_flash_player.gif" />
        <!-- The browser displays the following alternative content for users with Flash Player 6.0 and older. -->
        <div>
          <h4>Content on this page requires a newer version of Adobe Flash Player.</h4>

  • Flash audio issue with Firefox

    I came across an issue in firefox relating to adobe Flash. I'm also adressing the issue with adobe as it might be related to action script in the SWF. However if that were the case I don't quite understand why it's limited to Firefox.
    The problem is as follows. Using a simple mp3 player to play news highlights i came across an issue where that if other tabs or windows were open where flash audio played (like a youtube video) the audio in all these tabs/windows would cease as soon as the simple mp3 player was loaded or the stop button was pressed. This proved to be a problem among many of our customers who listen to online radio via our players (in a popup window/tab/seperate window) and browse on our site where this mp3 player is loaded. I provided a test environment where you can find the player.
    http://www.classicfm.nl/audiotest/
    Test by having flash audio playing and open the above link in another tab or window. As the player loads it stops all audio.
    Kind regards
    Dwayne

    I've been looking everywhere, google, adobe forum and one thing strike me... all, or almost all post about that in adobe forum have been ignored... Why ?
    On google i found a lot of people saying it is impossible and some saying it is, that they managed to fix theirs, but it is still not working for me. I followed and tryed a lot of method that seem to work for them, but it isnt working for me.
    Adding this
            <embed src="Video/Menu.swf" quality="high" width="2000" height="950" name="Menu" align="middle" allowFullScreen="false" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" pluginspage="http://www.adobe.com/go/getflashplayer" wmode="transparent"/>
    Is not helping much.
    Please it is critical for me that my flash allow the click through on Chrome and Firefox because my flash cover the whole screen as you see, 2000x950 and depending what you do in my website, it will fill the screen or not, and i still have html link that need to be clicked that are not inside the flash itself, thus why i need the click through.
    Thanks

  • Firefox is having "Script" issues (Not Responding) und possibly Flash issues?

    Okay, downloaded Firefox for the first time in like a year yesterday. It was working beautifully, oh, how I've missed it. I hate using Google Chrome with a fiery burning passion.
    However, though it was working perfectly yesterday, I have not downloaded anything or got any plug-ins/extensions, whatever.
    Today, however, I can go to www.google.com (on firefox), but if I try to go to my banks website, or imvu.com, or something like that, all the sudden Firefox decides to hang. It freezes und I get that annoying "(Not Responding)" at the top. I have to close out of the browser entirely, open it up und forgo the session restore.
    Some websites are okay, however, it seems many of them aren't.
    I get a script error message, so far the one for imvu.com that popped up was "lookout.bluecava" or something like that. Asked if I wanted to wait for script to respond or if I wanted to stop it. Either way, it ends with me closing out und starting back at google.
    Right now, to ask this question, I had to re-download google chrome, und log in from that browser since Firefox doesn't even want to support it's own support forum! Crazy stuff, right?
    Anyway, since it's having a "script" issue, I went to java, made sure I had the updated java installed on my computer, then I made sure that I had the updated java plug-in. Und I even downloaded the 64bit java for it as well, both the 7u45 or whatever.
    So, my java on my comp und firefox browser are seemingly up to date, und the Add-On thing for Firefox to check if plugins are up to date says they all of them are up to date.
    Still having the issue. The moment I go to imvu or another site that has that issue, it freezes within 10 seconds und that's all she wrote.
    So, I'm really not wanting to go back to Google Chrome for another year, I miss the hell out of Firefox.
    To Add: The issue I am having right now with Firefox is the same issue I had a year ago, when I had to uninstall firefox und go with Chrome in the first place.
    But, since it was acting normal yesterday when I installed it, I figured that it was fixed. Wrong in less than 24 hours.
    Before I submitted this, I decided to hop back onto Firefox und try something.
    I disabled the Shockwave Flash und the Shockwave Director plugins. Now, Firefox is working again.
    Sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.
    It asks me if I want to install the "flash" plugins needed to view some content on the page (I used imvu.com to try it out after disabling the shockwave), but still runs.
    So, what do I need to do for flash? Or better yet, what's going on with it?
    I downloaded the flash yesterday within half an hour of starting Firefox up after downloading it. Und it worked just fine for hours.
    I shut the comp down, packed it up, went home, come back to work, hop on the net und BAM. All the sudden Shockwave is having issues with Firefox when nothing was done to instigate it? Doesn't make sense.
    Other info:
    Windows 7 Home Premium on HP laptop.

    I will give Firefox 24.1 a try und see if shockwave flash actually works without making it hang und resulting in need of force close.

  • Unable to view some ESPNFC content on Firefox Beta23, probably Flash/JS issue?

    SO I am unable to view some ESPNFC.com Content(And a few other websites which i do not recollect at the moment) when i click on any new links from home page(No Image displayed)
    It works just fine on Chrome and IE-10, I am on the Beta Update channel (Version 23) and have tried the following:
    -Updated all plugins / uninstalled and installed Flash and Java Plugins
    -Reset Firefox , Started with safemode,uninstalled, removed all plugins like Flashblock and AdBlock
    -Tried everything from here: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-issues-with-plugins-fix-problems
    - Also tried a variety of options from Google including updating About:Config etc etc, nothing seems to work
    I can provide a list of all my plugins if that helps but since i have tried removing all plugins/add on's and it didnt work I do not know if that would be of any help.
    I would have loved to post some screenshots to show the exact nature of issue, nevertheless it would be gretaly appreciated if any one help..
    I am using Lenovo(Ideapad p400 Touch) windows 8 machine and have had this issue since first day i got the machine.

    Just adding some screenshots for the issue on Firefox and working verson of the same on Chrome.
    One interesting thing i noted is the url changes on Firefox (adds a topid to the link ,bu chrome and IE keep the url as http://espnfc.com/?cc=5901 when i switch to the stories on the home page)
    Also, this issue only happens to the stories on home page, website seems to work fine on other pages.

  • .mov to flash banner ad via media encoder, size issues

    Looking for some compression feedback, as I cannot get the results dialed in thru Adobe Media Encoder CS4.
    Creating a flash banner ad, 11 seconds total, with 5 seconds of video from final cut. The size of the exported .mov is 784 KB, and I still have to hit a target of less than 60KB (yikes) on the final FLV export for the ad specs. Anyone had any luck here in these type of productions? When I convert to FLV (heavily compressed) and import into timeline of flash as embedded file, keeps increasing in size, hovering just below the 1MB mark. Without the video, the flash ad is at 20KB, so I really only have 40KB to work with.
    When I open the FCP .MOV in Quicktime Pro and "export for web," I see a small file size of 4KB, could it really be that compressed?
    But when I bring that 4KB file into Media Encoder, it goes over the 60KB limit.
    Also, should note that final ad needs to be Flash 7 friendly...
    Your input is appreciated.

    Predicated on info in the other THREAD, I will now ammend my previous post:
    2.) Assets - that's why I asked
    3.) Project - could still be a possibility
    Looks like the Bug is still in the running and gaining fast.
    Have you filed a Bug Report/Feature Request with the data that you've furnished in your two thread?
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Dreamweaver, Fireworks pop menu and Flash  banner issue

    For some unknown reasons I am not getting my Fireworks
    pop-menu to show over a flash banner. It looks like it's working,
    but hidden behind the flash banner

    >>but hidden behind the flash banner
    That's because Flash content rises to the top, so to speak.
    There is a
    kludge/hack using the wmode parameter but I believe it only
    works in IE.
    Your best bet is to redesign the page so the Flash is
    separated from the
    menu.

  • Sudden Display issues in Firefox from Dreamweaver-built pages

    Hi, first time posting and a novice at Dreamweaver and web design so please bare with me.
    I'm an IT administrator for a small charity company and they decided to ask me to build them a website, I bought Dreamweaver in University and had a small try with it but never really used it since.
    Now I'm no web designer but I'm trying the best I can, I managed to make a few preliminary pages for use and found they displayed correctly in most browsers apart from IE and Opera.
    But Suddenly today - after no editing or alterations since friday (and it displayed fine yesterday on tuesday), it started experiencing the same issues in Firefox this morning for no apparent reason. I assumed that it would be a problem with Firefox but when trying to sign up to Firefox help I meet an "Access Denied" page after clicking to sign up. Now I know there's no point in searching their forums for that issue because of course, how can someone complain they have the problem when the fact they can't get on the forums to post is what's preventing the post in the first place?
    I googled both of those issues and turned up nothing, which led me here.
    The "Access Denied" at signup issue is obviously not what I'm seeking for here though, but would like to know if anyone else has experienced the issue with the formatting suddenly displaying incorrectly in browsers when they worked fine before?
    Like I said, I'm a complete novice at web design and dreamweaver so feel free to tell me the coding in the website is pants, I know it is but it does (did!) the job in most browsers.
    Any help at all would be appreciated.

    PS. For an ironic laugh - note the "This website is best displayed in Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome" at the bottom of the page

    My advice, although negative, would be to stay clear unless you are confident and capable of using html and css. Dreamweaver won't do the job for you and you will be biting off more than you can chew.
    Having said that I've made the necessary changes so that your page will work in all browers. Just copy the whole html code and css below, paste into a new Dreamweaver document and save to your site root folder.
    Do not mix measurements i.e., width 43em, padding 15px etc. I would advise staying with px based measurements as measurements are critical to if the site works or not. I don't know what 43em + 15px makes but I do know what 170px + 15px makes. I have changed the width of the containers in your code to px.

    /* Tips for Elastic layouts
    1. Since the elastic layouts overall sizing is based on the user's default fonts size, they are more unpredictable. Used correctly, they are also more accessible for those that need larger fonts size since the line length remains proportionate.
    2. Sizing of divs in this layout are based on the 100% font size in the body element. If you decrease the text size overall by using a font-size: 80% on the body element or the #container, remember that the entire layout will downsize proportionately. You may want to increase the widths of the various divs to compensate for this.
    3. If font sizing is changed in differing amounts on each div instead of on the overall design (ie: #sidebar1 is given a 70% font size and #mainContent is given an 85% font size), this will proportionately change each of the divs overall size. You may want to adjust based on your final font sizing.

  • Using latest version of fireFox to access Think Central, pages will not load and they say that this is a security issue with FireFox?

    Teachers in our district are supposed to use www.thinkcentral.com with FireFox.
    Some have no problem accessing the lesson plans.
    Most when they login click on a lesson plan and an icon shows up that says loading but never does.
    If you reboot the computer and login you can open a page once but not a second time and no other lessons will open.
    Think Central support says this is a security issue with Firefox.
    I have updated FireFox, all the Adobe, Reader, Flash, Air and Shockwave. As well as Java.
    I have allowed the pop ups to the think Central web site.
    Any help would be appreciated

    Are there any notification icons on the left end of the address bar? If so, please click them to see whether they related to security issues (such as blocked content - shield icon: [[How does content that isn't secure affect my safety?]]) or a plugin requiring permission (Lego-like icon).
    Does Think Central have any help pages about this issue? Without an account, it is difficult to explore the issue first-hand.

  • Problems zooming out with a Flash Banner

    I have created a Flash banner for the home page of my website.  Here is the link to the page I am working on:  http://adirondackvic.org/CSSTest9July2012-2.html
    When I zoom in to increase the size of the web page, the Flash banner rescales automatically.  However, when I zoom out, to decrease the size of the web page, the Flash banner does not automatically rescale.  It remains the same size and you have to hit the refresh button to get it to rescale to fit the newly resized page.
    Is there a fix for this?  I searched the forum and the web and have not found an answer.  I put a question on this in another forum, but received no responses. I found some discussions of the issue on the web and on this forum, but I was not able to figure out how to incorporate the suggestions into my page.  I tried changing the scale from exactfit to showall, as recommended, but that created a problem with the appearance of the page. (The banner no longer fit properly into the header window.) I also tried (as recommended by one of the entries in this forum) to change width="100%" height="100%" or width="100%" height="auto".  This fixed the problem for Internet Explorer, but then the entire banner disappeared in Firefox.
    Please help!  I am at my wit's end....  Thank you.  ellen

  • Flash Banner Ad

    Hi All,
    I am facing a weired problem in my webpage.
    I am having a html page, which embeds the windows media
    player object and one banner ad. This banner ad i am getting from
    another vendor.
    In my page i have to call this ad like the below code.
    <script language="JavaScript" src="
    http://mythridpartyvendorsite.com?...">
    </script>
    and I have a media player that code in html as follows.
    <SCRIPT LANGUAGE="JavaScript">
    document.write ("<OBJECT id='videoFrame_Player'
    classid='CLSID:6BF52A52-394A-11d3-B153-00C04F79FAA6' height='300px'
    width='400px' type='application/x-mplayer2' viewastext>")
    document.write ("<para name='url' value
    ='http:myurl.com'>)
    ..............................other parameter etc
    </script>
    When the expandable banner ad runs in this page. When I
    mouseover on the "AD" that will expand. when I click the close
    button of the "AD" it stops my windows media player.
    I am not sure why its happening and how its happening.
    Because I flash banner ad comes from some vendor.
    I did some research on this. I think when these ad trying to
    communicate to the posted server, looks like its stops my media
    player. Is this related to any security on flash?
    If someone knows or comeacross this issue. please update me.
    This is really helpful for my page.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
    Are you talking about the Mercedes leaderboard ad?  Because that look a lot more complicated than "fade in - fade out" images?
    Anyway... I am looking at the easiest way to create a banner ad with fade in - fade out images that I have created in illustrator.
    This tutorial helped me alot.

  • Flash banner not working

    HELP!
    I have a huge problem, for some reason that I can't fathom, a Flash banner isn't working in Firefox, Opera, Chrome or Safari. The only browser it seems to work in is IE!
    This is a major issue!
    I've tired it on several PCs and get exactly the same results, including macs. I don't know what to do!
    The banner is here: http://www.techietalk.co.uk located at the top right in the header.
    When I look at it in anything other than IE I just see a solid white rectangle where the animation should be. Can anyone tell me why it's not working? I've managed to secure this vital sponsorship for the site and now I'm looking bad because it doesn't work.
    If I browse to the banner on my server then it displays perfectly on its own. Only when it's shown on the site do I have the problem! I've tried disabling all plug-ins but it still doesn't work. I'm totally stumped and I reeeally need this to work!

    Problem solved thanks, it was me missing out some parameters. I figured it out after I'd had a break for 15 minutes to clear my head.

    How do I clear my video queue if there was a space issue and I've already paid for them?

    1. Sync wasn't intended to be used in that manner. You would be better off carrying around a USB Flash Stick with Portable Firefox for use on "strange" PC's.
    2. You could open the "Library" {Ctrl + Shift + B} and highlight all those bookmarks and then delete them all at once. But that would also delete all the other bookmarks, and it isn't foolproof. All another person would need to do it to '''''restore''''' a bookmark backup file that has your bookmarks. Beyond that, a new Profile could be created and then the current Profile deleted; but that's "messing with" someone else's computer - an action that is worthy of terminating a friendship over, IMO.
    And if that "public" computer was set up properly, Sync should have been disabled.

  • Issue with MozillaFirefox browser and Flash application

    Hi all,
                 I am new to Flash and ActionScript 3.0.
                 I have created a new flash application and executed it(.swf file has obtained). But, now I need to display the contents of .swf file(i.e., output of my application) in a browser window.
                 So, the issue is: When I open flash application in InternetExplorer browser window,  then the application/.swf file opens fine. But, it is not working well when  open it in MozillaFirefox browser window.
       Please, can anyone help me in this context.
    Thanks in advance. Reply me as soon as possible.......
    Srihari.Ch

    Hi Cyboide,
                   Actually, I am new to Flash platform. I have developed a flash file and (.fla and .swf files are created) this .swf file I need to use within our project(based on Java) which is to be run in localhost. So, I had followed these steps as I saw in Google Help:
    1.) I had opened .fla file(First.fla) and goto File -> PublishSettings -> Formats tab.
    2.) In this tab, I had selected .html and .swf checkboxes and deselected remaining all.
    3.) Click on "Publish" button and then "OK" button.
    So, a html file with same name as that of .fla/.swf file is created in the same folder beside thes .fla and .swf files.
    I think it is clear upto this point.
                     Now,
                                If I open my .swf file simply in a browser window(Mozilla), I can view the contents. But, the Buttons, checkboxes, Combo-boxes etc., controls have no access(i.e., any animation, tweening works well but  there is  no user interaction).
                               Else, When I open my project in localhost(Java project), here somewhere i call my flash file(i.e.,First.swf file). But, the contents of .swf file are not viewed in the case of Mozilla Firefox. But, it works well in InternetExplorer browser including my whole project(i.e., all localhost). Hence, no problems when opened in IE.
    Please reply me as soon as possible. It is the only issue to end up my project.
    Waiting for replies.....
    thanks a lot in advance..

  • Issues with Firefox hogging resources...

    I have several issues with Firefox intermittently consuming 99-100% of my CPU memory. Now, let me preface this by saying that I am NOT an advanced user, and can only tell you what I see on things like the Task Manager and such. Furthermore, I know that you guys know about some of this stuff - at least, I am pretty sure you do - but I am nowhere near comfortable enough to mess with any command line... stuff... in Firefox. I just am not knowledgeable enough about the program, and I don't want to 'break' it (lol). Anyway, down to business. Here are the issues I am having:
    1. Upon startup, Firfox takes between 30 seconds and a minute and a half to load 5 tabs. When I first downloaded and installed it, these same tabs took less than 10 seconds to load. I have tried clearing my cache and history but nothing seems to help. If it matters, I have been using Firefox for going on 5 years now.
    2. Once the program has loaded, '''any''' keyboard shortcuts I use in it (ctrl+a, ctrl+c or v, alt=tab, etc) cause the CPU memory usage of Firefox to spike to 99 or 100 percent. In affect, it freezes my computer for anywhere between 2 and 30 seconds, roughly. It does this usually, but not always, and I frequent all the same sites, so the page I am on does not seem to matter.
    3. I have noticed that some of the addons I use with Firefox, mainly Multi Links, lag as well when the above issue is occurring. Not sure if the two are connected in any way (also not sure why that feature is not ''built into Firefox to begin with'') and would have checked this but I will not risk not being able to get back here again. See below.
    4. This is unrelated, but I felt it merited some small mention. This is effectively my SIXTH attempt at posting my query. The first time, I created an account and it forwarded me to some page basically saying 'Yup, you're logged in alright.' Then it KEPT doing that every time I tried to flesh out and ask my question, until I navigated COMPLETELY away from the page ''four times'' and attempted this one last time. Very frustrating. I even tried going to Live Chat for help, but somehow got off the chat window page and then suddenly chat was closed... right. Anyway, point being, it was difficult to get this posted and it has me even more annoyed. >.<
    I have always loved Firefox because it was faster and more reliable than IE. But here recently... it just seems to be going downhill. For instance, I have seen others ask questions about what's going on with the plugin container and that stupid flash plugin - I happen to have that issue rather severely, to the point that I must leave Flash off entirely until I ''have to'' turn it back on (which is wearing down my last nerve, I might add, since I use sites that require that particular plugin daily), and while I did see a couple rather nice solutions about editing/tweaking internal Firefox settings, I must profess that I am nowhere near competent or comfortable enough to even think about attempting them. Furthermore, I do not believe I should be required to make such changes in order to get the program to function properly and risk ruining it completely so that I have to uninstall and reinstall just so I have Firefox. This is all rather exasperating, and judging from the replies I saw on those topics, I do not expect much help here (a couple of people were rather rude on one of those topics, I am afraid I am a minority here, not knowing my way around program language and all =( ). My main goal is to make you aware, if you are not already, that issues exist and if you have tried anything on your end to rectify them, it has not worked for some. I am at my wit's end here, I do not know what else to do to try to solve these issues other than clear cache and history, restart Firefox, so on and so forth. *sigh* I'm seriously thinking about going back to IE, and you have no idea how much that really ticks me off; I think, out of all of this, even all my wasted time, that's what upsets me the most.

    Issues of this sort are, unfortunately, more common and the we'd like them to be. However, they tend not to be cause by Firefox itself, but rather by software that is running either inside or alongside it, such as add-ons or firewalls. Since these issues have a broad span of possible causes, you need to diagnose your problems before fixing them. Follow these instructions ''to the line'', as they'll probably help you diagnose and fix the problems you're having.
    #run Firefox in [http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Safe+Mode safe-mode] to disable all extensions, themes and plugins. If this fixes your problem, be it with RAM or CPU usage, then you know it's a problem with add-ons (plugins, themes or extensions). Proceed to number 2. If safe-mode doesn't fix your problem, then read bellow, after this list;
    #update all extensions (go into ''Tools > Add-ons > Extensions > Find Updates''), themes and plugins (see [https://www.mozilla.com/en-US/plugincheck/ this page] in your Firefox. If this doesn't solve the issues, proceed to the following number;
    #disable all extensions, themes and plugins in your Firefox (not running safe-mode). This is temporary and for diagnostic purposes only. Being certain that, as in safe-mode, the problems you're having have gone away, enable one plugin at a time. You should be certain that you actually want that plugin to be enabled. It's best to keep the overall number of enabled plugins as low as possible. When you encounter problems, you know you've found a problematic plugin, so disable it for good. Keep enabling all plugins (except problematic ones) until you've gone through them all. If you need support for a problematic plugin, you need to contact its author for support;
    #enable one extension at a time. Again, be certain that you actually want that extension to be enabled. As with plguins, it's best to keep the overall number of enabled extensions as low as possible. Also, try the theme you want to have installed so see if that is what's causing the problem. When you encounter problems, you know you've found a problematic extension/theme, so disable it for good. Keep enabling all your extensions (except problematic ones) until you've gone through them all. Just the same as with plugins, if you need support for a problematic extension/plugin, you need to contact its author;
    #if you've followed my instructions above, you're done! You've fixed your problems with problematic add-ons. If you want to keep using those problematic add-ons, please contant their authors for support.
    Ok, now... ''If'' disabling all extensions and plugins through safe-mode didn't work to fix your problems (or, in other words, if you've just read number 1 on the list above and come straight here), then you have different issue. The most likely scenario is that you have a third party software running on your computer that is messing with Firefox. Detecting which program it is may be tricky, but the following list should help you. Make sure you follow it carefully. Don't forget to answer the question on the last point, if nothing else helps.
    #try reinstalling Firefox. No data will be lost. You can get the latest version (for free, as always) at [http://www.getfirefox.com/ getfirefox.com]. Make sure you [http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Uninstalling+Firefox uninstall Firefox] prior to reinstalling it. For help installing Firefox, see [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Installing+Firefox this support article]. If that doesn't fix the problem, proceed;
    #do a virus/malware check on your computer. See [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Is+my+Firefox+problem+a+result+of+malware?s=malware&as=s this support article] for help on this point. ''This is a very important step'', so please pay attention to it. If your problem is not due to viruses/malware, proceed;
    #disable all software running in the background that you don't want to have running in the background (in Windows operating systems, this is done by pressing WINDOWS+R in your keyboard, typing ''msconfig'' and pressing Enter; now, under the ''Startup'' tab, you can uncheck the software you don't want, and reboot your system for changes to take effect; if you're unsure of what software you want running, ask someone with more experience). If this doesn't fix your issues with Firefox, proceed;
    #check if your firewall/antivirus/security suite is conflicting in any way with Firefox's normal behavior. Check for enabled functions/features that you don't want and/or may be causing problems with Firefox. You'll find that these features are most likely tied to Internet Security features, such as link scanners or URL checkers and the like. If you're not sure they are conflicting with Firefox, simply try to disable them temporarily to see whether or not that's true. If this doesn't solve the issues, proceed to the following number;
    #check your operating system security options, mainly advanced options that are not configured by default. While it's very unlikely that this may be the cause of the problem, it's remotely possible. If this doesn't work, proceed to the following point;
    #update your modem/router software. There have been some reports that some modem/router software may cause Firefox and other browsers to loose performance and/or stability. If updating doesn't fix your issue, try other versions of the software, if possible. If you need support with this, contact your modem/router manufacturer. If this doesn't help, proceed;
    #if you are using a Windows operating system, clean up your OS registry using appropriate software. There have been reports that badly maintained Windows Registries may case problems with Firefox. If this doesn't help, see the following point;
    #please try creating a new temporary Firefox profile ([http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Managing+profiles managing profiles]) and see if the issues persist. Please report the results, so we can help you further.

  • IPhone sync to iTunes library has free space issue

    The iPhone “~’s iPhone” cannot be synced because there is not enough free space to hold all of the items in the iTunes library (additional 69.9 MB required).
    I have 239 GB available on my MacBook Pro running OS 10.7.5 with iTunes11.1.2 and iPhone 4 running iOS 6.1.3 and the memory nearly full — 57.2 MB Available. This now happens over 50% of the time.  These two issue might be related.  If the error statement is misleading, that should be fixed.

    OK,  I deleted a bunch of pictures and it completed.
    Instead of "The iPhone “~’s iPhone” cannot be synced because there is not enough free space to hold all of the items in the iTunes library (additional 69.9 MB required)," I think I'd have understood it effectively if it were "The iPhone “~’s iPhone” cannot be synced because there is not enough free space to copy all of the items into the iTunes library (additional 69.9 MB required)."  What a difference two words can make.
    Who know how to get this across to Apple, Inc?
