Special characters in UCM site URL does not give error

Hey Experts,
If we put any special characters in site URL, UCM does not show 404 page .. for e.g.
site URL is http://www.example.com/abc/xyzs/index.html.... if we add special characters in URL for e.g. http://www.example.com/#$abc/xyzs/index.html...
then home page of site is displayed .....http://www.example.com/...
Also http://www.example.com/ abc/xyzs/index.html shows home page ..
Any idea why it is happening ??

I would attribute this behavious to the SSUrlMap filter - which has the job of turning the friendly URL's into SS_GET_PAGE service calls. Apparently the way it parses the URLs and looks for the patterns does not consider these characters.
Is it actually a problem?

I am getting this error in most of our WSUS servers.

If this is happening on an UPSTREAM server it is because you have approved updates that are no longer available from Microsoft. Almost always this involves approvals of *EXPIRED* updates (which have been pulled from the catalog and cannot be downloaded).
If this is happening on a DOWNSTREAM server it's because something/someone deleted the files from the upstream server. It can also happen if the entire upstream ~\WSUSContent folder has gone amuk.
For an upstream server, find the expired updates, remove the approvals, cancel the downloads, and then decline the updates.
For a downstream server, figure out what the affected updates are and fix the upstream server.

I had installed SAP in my system.But when I am testing webdynpro application I am getting the belwo error. Please let me knwo what setting I need to do to avoid this error.

In Web Dynpro ABAP it is imperative that a client browser with a fully qualified domain name (FQDN) has access to the AS-ABAP. For this reason the full URL must be assigned to a Web Dynpro ABAP application when it is called. The URL must not be shortened (for instance, no domain specification).

Cannot use home; message says url does not exist, and firefox homepage is gone.

When I open Firefox, I do not go to the Firefox homepage. The page that comes up has Mozilla Firefox on the top blue bar, and the navigation bar file - help. Underneath it reads "new tab" and the location bar reads "go to a website" followed by the Google search box which does drop down to reveal the other search engines. This is followed by the "home" box. When I click on home, I get an Alert box that states "The URL is not valid and cannot be loaded." I do not get the Firefox home page when I open Firefox (but it does connect me to the internet), and clicking on home does not take me to the Firefox home page either. How do I fix this problem?

Typing in "about:home" still gets the URL not valid message. There seems to be no home to which to default, so that doesn't work. I tried to take the system back to an earlier date; it doesn't work. When I go to an earlier date and open Firefox, it crashes and needs to be reinstalled. When reinstalled, it does not give me the Firefox homepage from which to work. I generally use Google as a search engine, but do not use a google tool bar. I am at a loss as to what to do.

Site Window does not show any item

My site window does not show any items/folders to modify after I open my site. I was wondering if there is anyone who can point out what I did wrong. Usually the site window shows all the contents as soon as the site is opened. Please help. Thank you.

If you look inside the webcontent folder, in Finder view (or Explorer???? if you're using Windows) - anyway, are there in fact files in there?
Try Site > Update > Refresh all.
If that doesn't work, try making a new site from existing content, which should give you a new site file (call it something slightly different) sitting beside your old one. I'm guessing here, but it can't hurt.

we have faced the same problem on our application. To overcome this we used the below workarround...
Make the host entry for webservice provider [serviceprovider.test.com] pointing to its IP [172.99.71.12].
In cfm file
There's no need to add the proxy and the port in the cfm file.

Netctl fails to connect to a wireless network and does not give detail

If I try to connect to a wireless network (WEP, DHCP) using netctl I get "Jon for netctl@wlp2s0\x2dnetworkname.service failed." and two commands (journalctl -xn and systemctl status ...) that should give details about the error.
However, both of them give the following lines:

If you look at the netctl.profile man page, it explains some special quoting rules at the end. Item does not exist error when updating item

Hi,
I have a list called "Deal" and I have a ItemUpdated event to update the item permission based on a list field "Owner".
I find the code run well with site collection administrator account. If I use a regular user account to edit the item, it throws "Item does not exist" error after clicking save button. But the item is actually updated.
I run the code under debug mode and it does not throw any exception. But the page shows "Item doex not exist" error.
If I retract the solution, the item can be updated normally without any error.

I'm sure you figured it out by now, but I ran into the same problem. I found this on the HBOgo site. This help me.
1) Launch HBO GO on your device.
2) Navigate to the 'Settings' tab.
3) Click the 'Activate Your Device' button - the next screen should show you your activation code.
4) Navigate to www.hbogo.com/activate.
5) Select Apple TV from the device drop down list.
6) Select your TV provider.
7) On the Activate a Device screen, enter the code displayed on your television (from step 3), click the 'Activate' button.
8) You should see a 'Success!' message on both your television and your browser. Until the 'Success' message appears on your television screen, you will not be able to watch a video.
9) You are ready to start streaming video on HBO GO!

You're confusing what's being stored vs what's being displayed. The full proc is being stored in the definition column. It's just that SSMS won't display the full content of the cell.
The following is a proc that we use to overcome this situation... (I have no clue who the original author is)

Songs can be removed from your iPhone by tapping 'Songs,' then swiping the song, then tapping Delete.
Remove a song from iPhone. Tap Songs, swipe the song, then tap Delete. The song is deleted from iPhone, but not from your iTunes library on your Mac or PC, or from iCloud.
