Specific ELF section for data declaration

I am using C workshop compiler 5.0.
I am trying to tell the compiler to declare a static initialized variable
in a specific ELF section, rather than '.data" standard ones.
Does anybody know how to achieve this ?

Hi all.
I'm using a Web Service obtained by copying the CRM 7.0 built-in WS APPTACTCRTRC.
I'm using it to create Appointments using an Adobe Interactive Form.
It goes everything fine (a Date is created in the system, with all the input data properly set) excepted the dates...
The WS uses two TIMESTAMPS, TIMESTAMP_FROM for StartDateTime and TIMESTAMP_TO for EndDateTime, whereas the GUI transaction to create Dates accepts dates and times in separated fields.
Going in Debug I can see that the execution ends with the following error, referred to the involved entity (CRM_APPOINTMENT):
Date type-specific Customizing missing for date type ACTActPln
CRM_APPOINTMENT uses date profile 0000000001 with three possible date types: ORDERACTUAL, ORDERPLANNED and ORDERPROPOSED and I cannot find anywhere date type ACTActPln (just to add it in customizing).
Is anyone able to enlight me?

I'm successfully using the LiveCycle Designer and I've managed to remotely create Appointments using a CRM Web Service (a mere copy of APPTACTCRTRC).
The only problem I'm encountering is that I'm not able to set the dates/times (start and end of the appointment).
Dragging each of the two fields from the WSDL based Data Connection I obtain a Decimal Field limited to 15 digits.
How can I write a date and time in such a field?
I've tried with a retroverse date as YYYYMMDDHHmmss (for example, 20100301124500) but it does not work
(the appointment is indeed created, but with the start date and time fields filled with
the current date/time and the end date and time fields filled with the current date and time plus 10 minutes).
The retroverse date above is only 14 digit long, so, maybe, this is the problem.
But, given the field definition, I'm not able to fill a blank space between the date and the time.
I'm not able to put a dot either.
What should I do?
Any suggestions?

15 digit in UTC time format here is fraction of second so you should enter 201003011245000 (add one more zero).
14th Oct 2010 16:00 should be written as 201010141600000, so just try it and and see if it works, I guess if you do not supply end time then by default it will be starttime + 10 min but this is just guess.

Efficient or Better Ways for Data Declaration

Hi Guys,
Basically I've always programmed much the same way for a pretty long time now. Lately I've been asking myself the question - "how can i start improving on my tried and trusted ways".(oftern a linear programming approach). As part of this I'm examining ways to declare data better within in programs and to adopt a neat way to do so.
This may seem pretty trivial but the first question I want to ask is how to declare data better
e.g. I need to declare constants - each constant corresponds to a rule number; 1, 2,3,4,5,6 - 23 etc.
Instead of declaring the following line 23 times - is there a better way to declare in such a way.
Constants: c_rule_1 type c value '1' ,
                c_rule_2 type c value '2',
                etc etc etc
Your thoughts are greatly appreciated.

With my knowledge, data declarations for all constants with DATA comamnd itself is good practise in point of performance. Alternative is dynamic creation of variables. But it consumes more time and is not good to practise. Instead of crating individual parameters for each constant, you could create a structure and add all constants as fields as follows:
constants: begin of con,
                   1 type c value '1',
                   2 type c value '2',
                end of con.

Data clusters are specific to ABAP. Although it is possible to read a cluster database using SQL statements, only ABAP can interpret the structure of the data cluster.
You can store data clusters in special databases in the ABAP Dictionary. These are called ABAP cluster databases, and have a prescribed structure:
Cluster Databases ( I have explained the cluster databse below )
This method allows you to store complex data objects with deep structures in a single step, without having to adjust them to conform to the flat structure of a relational database. Your data objects are then available systemwide to every user. To read these objects from the database successfully, you must know their data types.
You can use cluster databases to store the results of analyses of data from the relational database. For example, if you want to create a list of your customers with the highest revenue, or an address list from the personnel data of all of your branches, you can write ABAP programs to generate the list and store it as a data cluster. To update the data cluster, you can schedule the program to run periodically as a background job. You can then write other programs that read from the data cluster and work with the results. This method can considerable reduce the response time of your system, since it means that you do not have to access the distributed data in the relational database tables each time you want to look at your list.
Cluster Database :
 Cluster databases are special relational databases in the ABAP Dictionary that you can use to store data clusters. Their line structure is divided into a standard section, containing several fields, and one large field for the data cluster.
Creating a Directory of a Data Cluster
To create a directory of a data cluster from an ABAP cluster database, use the following statement:

IMPORT DIRECTORY INTO <dirtab>
 FROM DATABASE <dbtab>(<ar>)
 [CLIENT <cli>] ID <key>.
This creates a directory of the data objects belonging to a data cluster in the database <dbtab> in the internal table <dirtab>. You must declare <dbtab> using a TABLES statement.
To save a data cluster in a database, use the EXPORT TO DATABASE statement .
For <ar>, enter the two-character area ID for the cluster in the database. The name <key> identifies the data in the database. Its maximum length depends on the length of the name field in <dbtab>. The CLIENT <cli> option allows you to disable the automatic client handling of a client-specific cluster database, and specify the client yourself. The addition must always come directly after the name of the database.
The IMPORT statement also reads the contents of the user fields from the database table.
If the system is able to create a directory, SY-SUBRC is set to 0, otherwise to 4.
The internal table <dirtab> must have the ABAP Dictionary structure CDIR.

Effect
Using the REF TO addition, you declare a reference variable ref. The specification after REF TO specifies the static type of the reference variables. The static type limits the set of objects to which ref can point. The dynamic type of a reference variable is the data type or the class to which it currently points. The static type is always more general or the same as the dynamic type (see also conversion rule for reference variables).
Syntax and meaning of the additions TYPE and LIKE are completely the same as the definition of reference types in the section TYPES -REF TO, but here they serve to create a bound reference type.
As a start value, only IS INITIAL can be specified after the addition VALUE.

Reference variables are opak - that is, you cannot directly access their content. A reference is made up of the address of an object and other management information.

The FIELD-SYMBOLS statement declares a field symbol <fs>. The naming conventions apply to the name fs. The angle brackets of the field symbols indicate the difference to data objects and are obligatory. You can declare field symbols in any procedure and in the global declaration section of an ABAP program, but not in the declaration section of a class or an interface. You can use a field symbol in any operand position in which it is visible and which match the typing defined using typing.
After its declaration, a field symbol is initial - that is, it does not reference a memory area. You have to assign a memory area to it (normally using the ASSIGN statement) before you can use it as an operand. Otherwise an exception will be triggered.
You can use the addition typing to type the field symbol. The syntax of typing is described under Syntax of Typing. The typing specifies which memory areas can be assigned to the field symbol (see Checking the Typing) and in which operand positions it can be used.
You can omit the addition typing outside of methods. In this case, the field symbol has the complete generic type any and is implicitly assigned the predefined constant space during the declaration.

If you specify the addition STRUCTURE instead of typing for a field symbol, and struc is a local program structure (a data object, not a data type) or a flat structure from the ABAP Dictionary, this structure is cast for the field symbol <fs>. You have to specify a data object dobj that is initially assigned to the field symbol.
The field symbol copies the technical attributes of structure struc as if it were completely typed. When you assign a data object using the addition DEFAULT, or later using ASSIGN, its complete data type is not checked in non- Unicode programs. Instead, the system merely checks whether it has at least the length of the structure and its alignment.
In Unicode programs, we differentiate between structured and elementary data objects. For a structured data object dobj, its Unicode fragment view has to match the one of struc. In the case of an elementary data object, the object must be character-type and flat, and struc must be purely character-type. The same applies to assignments of data objects to field symbols typed using STRUCTURE when using the ASSIGN statement.
Field symbols declared using the addition STRUCTURE are a mixture of typed field symbols and a utility for casting structured data types. You should use the additions TYPE or LIKE for the FIELD-SYMBOLS statement to type field symbols, while the addition CASTING of the ASSIGN statement is used for casting.

The first example shows the obsolete usage of the addition STRUCTURE.

I have used date as input field. While creating fieldcatlog also i have declared dat as a mkpf-budat.
But i am not getting serach help for date in output.
Is it possible with reuse or i have to go by object oriented ?

If you're using ActionScript (Flex or Flash) for your database, you could also declare your columns as "Date" (i.e. the ActionScript Date class). AIR has added support for Date as a recognized data type in its SQLite implementation:

By using statement parameters to pass in Date data the ActionScript Date objects are converted when you insert data, and when you retrieve data it automatically comes back as ActionScript Date objects.
Internally in the database, the Date values are stored as SQLite REAL (Unix epoch format) so date comparisons should work fine. For instance, if you want to find all rows with a date in a certain range, you could use this SQL:
SELECT *
FROM mytable
WHERE datecolumn BETWEEN :startdate AND :enddate
Then you'd need to specify the :startdate and :enddate values as parameters:
sqlStatement.parameters[":startdate"] = new Date(2000, 3, 15);
sqlStatement.parameters[":enddate"] = new Date(2005, 6, 13);
2. Add a custom SQLite function for this purpose (see more about it in http://sqlite.org/cintro.html under 'Extending SQLite' section). Note that in such case you'll suffer slow performance if you have large tables (since dates are not indexed correctly).
Unfortunately AIR doesn't support custom functions in SQLite.

To connect to non-Oracle databases from SQL*Developer youneed to download the relevant JDBC driver.

You must specify a third-party JDBC driver or install a driver using the Check for Updates feature before you can create a database connection to a third-party database of that associated type. Dynamic data declaration

I have a following issue - I am not sure whether this is possible - so I need your feedback/expertise.
I have a custom table (example ZABC) with several fields in it - one of them being TABNAME . Content of that table ZABC is
MANDT TABNAME FIELDNAME ZCHECK
800 KNA1 KUNNR
800 KNA1 NAME1 X
800 KNA1 NAME2 X
800 KNA1 KUNNR
800 KNVV BZIRK X
800 KNAS KUNNR
800 KNAS STCEG
etc.
There is no rule how many entries will be in this ZABC table - I guess it will be less than 20 - but this is not business rule. Also do not know how many different "tables" could be specified.
Fields MANDT and ZCHECK fields are not important at this stage.
The challenge I have is to fetch data for only those fields from their specified physical tables (KNA1, KNVV, KNAS) in internal tables.
In this case I would need to have 3 internal tables one for KNA1, one for KNAS and one for KNVV.
I need to keep those "internal" table with content throughout the entire program for certain validation.
I know that I should dynamically define those internal tables but I have issues not knowing how many tables will be defined in ZABC table and I personally do not want to declare "<fs_itab> TYPE ANY TABLE" 20 or so times as fs_itab1 - fs_itab20.
Is there any way I can dynamically create as many internal tables as needed and keep their content throughout program run-time.

All those examples you'all posted are great BUT it does not answer my question nor help me to solve my issue. Maybe I was not clear enough ... or something is wrong with me
Once again.
I have no problem to get a dynamically defined table and fill its content from ONE physicall table. That is pretty straight forward. The issue I have is that I do not know how many dynamically tables I will have to define and later asign to field symbol. Look at my custom table above and you will understand what I am trying to say.
What makes this issue more complex is that, once data fetch from those physicall SAP tables, I have to keep the content for all those internal tables during the entire program run . Second the most, I do not want to limit the program by defining FS "n" times in data declaration section. That is really important since I have no idea how many tables will be accessed.
If I follow the logic from your examples, I will end up overwritting the FS content every time I assign new internal table to FS.
In order to solve this issue, I was thinking that whenever I get the data from SAP table into internal table (field symbol) i export the content of internal table / FS to memory and then retrieve them when needed. This sounds like waky /fuzzy process and I am not aware of anything better. I am old fashion ABAP guy who got certified 1995 and have not seen ABAP for at least 5 years.
I would like that someone either tells me whether I am OK going forard with my "memory" solution or ... in few words gives me hint how to handle multiple dynamicall defined tables AT THE SAME TIME with its content using some OO code.

Hi SAPBW Experts,
I understand that global data types declared at the top of the start routine code means the variables or internal tables are not cleared or refreshed when the next data_package comes in. Whereas, non-global ones are refreshed.
So, I would like to seek advice from you, when is each situation applied in the form of a simple examples would be helpful.

you're right.
A simpel sample to illustrate it:
In the global section define:
data: g_t_master like standard table of /bi0/pmaterial.
In the coding for your startroutine, you can now do the following:
if g_t_master is initial.
select * from /bi0/pmaterial into table g_t_master.
endif.
read table g_t_master with key material = trans_stru-material.
If you define the internal table locally, the table g_t_master would be filled with every data package and you would select all materials with each datapackage and globally defined you do it only once which would cause you a very bad performance! Thats the big difference.

Why am I being charged for data when connected to wifi AND not using my phone?!

WHY am I being charged for data that I'm not using? At times when I'm asleep AND my phone is connected to wifi?! This happens at really specific, alternating times like 9:54 pm every day, or 12:01 am, 6:01 am and then 12:01pm and 6:01pm. When I called I was told "maybe your wifi at home is disconnecting" or "maybe your phone is connecting to atnt or sprint". It's not possible that my phone is disconnecting from wifi every six hours on the dot and, at that exact time, I'm always using data. I find it hard to believe that I live in a HUGE city and my phone magically connects to other networks and I NEVER notice this. Verizon is full of LIARS (and maybe’s) and I'm not convinced that these data charges are a coincidence. I was told to turn off my cellular data to see if the problem resolves itself. Why should I alter my daily life when Verizon is clearly the one with the issue? I hope there's a class action lawsuit because Verizon is trying to get over on everyone! I need answers!

Issue with table ROOSPRMSF entries for data source 0FI_AP_4

Hi Experts,
I am facing with an issue where we found incosistencies with table ROOSPRMSF in R/3 system.
In BW , we have done initializations based on fiscal period selections (none of the selections overlap) for data source 0FI_AP_4.
We have done in total 7 initializations. So in BW system in table RSSDLINITSEL we have 7 initialization requests.
But in R/3 system we have 49 records for data source 0FI_AP_4 in ROOSPRMSF table out of which 42 are invalid records.
I suspect that these 42 invalid records are created due to the execution of program RSSM_OLTP_INIT_DELTA_UPDATE when the tables ROOSPRMSF are actually holding the 7 initialization request entries. Due to this each and every initialization request is linked to rest of the other intialization requests and ended with 49 records in table ROOSPRMSF table.
Now our data loads are running fine but daily a short dump is raised . In the daily loads, BW init records in RSSDLINITSEL are compared with ROOSPRMSF entries and all the other 42 records which are invalid are written into system log and a short dump is raised.
In order to fix these inconsistencies i checked for OSS note 852443. (Point 3 in OSS note)
But it is specified to delete the delta queue for data source 0FI_AP_4 in RSA7 and instructed to execute the program RSSM_OLTP_INIT_DELTA_UPDATE so that the ROOSPRMSF table will be reconstructed with valid records available in RSSDLINITSEL.
From OSS note 852443 point 3
"3. If the RSSDLINIT table in the BW system already contains entries, check the requests listed there in the RNR column in the monitor (transaction RSRQ). Compare these entries with the entries in the ROOSPRMSF and ROOSPRMSC tables with the INITRNR field. If, in the ROOSPRMSF and ROOSPRMSC tables for your DataSource source system combination, there are more entries with different INITRNR numbers, use transaction RSA7 in an OLTP source system to delete all entries and then use the RSSM_OLTP_INIT_DELTA_UPDATE report mentioned in the next section. For a DataMart source system, delete the entries that you cannot find in the RSSDLINIT table using the procedure described above."
My question is if we delete the delta queue in RSA7 then all the tables in R/3 (ROOSPRMSF, ROOSPRMSC, Time stamp table) and BW (RSSDLINITSEL, initialization requests will be deleted) will be cleared. Then how will the program RSSM_OLTP_INIT_DELTA_UPDATE copy entries into ROOSPRMSF table in R/3 ?
Could any one please clarify this ?

Did you unhide the new field in RSA6 and regenerated the DataSource?
Often SAP will populate newly added fields (belonging to the same (set) of table(s) used for extraction) automatically (e.g. SAP uses 'move-corresponding' in it's extractor-code, or, in this case, reading all fields from the DD, FM BWFIU_TRANSFORM_FIELDLIST).
If the DataSource looks fine to you and the field is still not populated in RSA3 you can't go without a user-exit.

Hi all,
I need 2 function modules for date and time. when we pass current data(sy-datum) and current time (sy-uzeit) into function modules, shoud get date in dd/mm/yyyy or dd.mm.yyyy and time in HH:MM:SS formats.

Use the Component WDR_SELECT_OPTIONS to include select options in Web Dynpro ABAP. Follow these steps:
1. In your Component , "Used Componet" tab add Component WDR_SELECT_OPTIONS . Component Use can be any name that you want to give, eg SELECT_OPTIONS
2. Go to the View where you want to include the Date Select Options. I am assuming that you already have an Attribute of Type DATS in your context.
3. View: Properties Tab:Create Controller Usage and select
SELECT_OPTIONS WDR_SELECT_OPTIONS
SELECT_OPTIONS WDR_SELECT_OPTIONS INTERFACECONTROLLER
4. View Layout Tab:Include a View Container. In this view container we will show the Date Select Options.
5. View Attributes Tab: Create Following two attributes:
