Spellcheck and CFExecute

I am using Coldfusion8 and I am trying to implement a
spellchecker in the FCKEditor. I cannot use ASpell and the
SpellerPages option as it uses CFExecute and I cannot use that tag
on my server. Does anyone know of any other spell checker that can
be used by FCKEditor that doesn't use CFExecute?

The first one listed, ieSpell, is client side and only works
on Internet Explorer, but it would suit your needs for that
purpose.
AFAIK all server-side versions require something akin to a
server-side install or use of CFExecute, neither of which a shared
host will be keen on.

I have not been able to get spellcheck to work in any build but the "59" one, and that continues with this 6.20 release. This is despite the checked option appearing in Tools/Options. Not sure if it's implemented yet in non-59 builds despite appearing in the UI. Win 8.1.

Yeah, why there is no links to all versions of skype.. Now we need Skype 6.21.64.104 or Skype 6.21.73.104 where we don't know the differece... Please create a better download sectuon or just post links with info for all vers...

Spellcheck and other problems on certain websites

I've posted this before, and haven't received an answer that worked. I visit one message board, 247sports.com, and I have two issues that I simply can't except. 1) Spellchecker keeps turning off. I've enabled it in options, but when I make a post it often is not working, and I have to right-click to turn it back on. Then the next post, it's off again. 2) Sometimes when I write out a post and click "post reply" nothing happens. The browser is broken and to make anymore posts I have to exit Firefox and restart. These issues may be on other sites, but as stated I only visit one message board--although I have seen spell checker off at times on other sites (such as here) when making a post. I have this same issue on another computer. I had a clean install (installed an SSD drive) with very few programs and a different virus checker--completely different setup, and Firefox did the exact same thing.
During my other requests, I've tried every suggestion (disabled Addons, reinstall, ect) and nothing has worked. Finally, I've downgraded to Firefox 9.01, and it works perfectly (on both computers). I don't have any of these issues with Chrome, but I really, really don't like Chrome. There simply is something different between versions Firefox 9.01 and 11 that doesn't work on the 247sports.com message board (primarily, but probably on other sites, too). I have very little understanding of web design, so I can't help there. So, until this is fixed (if ever), I'll stick with 9.01.

IPTC Metadata Editor with Spellcheck and more

Bridge and Lightroom could benefit from a robust metadata editor. Quality IPTC data is almost as important as the images themselves. Afterall that's how we and our clients will find our valuable images.
Desired Features:
Spellcheck of at least Description and Keyword fields
Thesaurus would be great for creating Keyword sets
More flexible keyword sets to allow more nesting and organizing of similar keywords
Autofill searching of previously used keywords
Desired Functionality:
Must be fast and dependable. Currently Bridge is pretty slow, writing one keyword at a time. This seems to cause Bridge to hang up on itself and spit out corrupt files or not apply metadata to random files among a large selection.
Perhaps it would be better to have the enter all metadata additions and changes at once to all selected files and hit update, append or replace. FotoStation has had a useful interface in which the user can opt to replace and/or append and/or leave alone various metadata fields all at once.
Currently it is difficult to resolve a large selection of files that all should have the same keyword(s) but some already have it. We are forced to first remove the keywords(s) by pressing the minus sign, wait for that to happen and then reenter the keyword(s). This can be painfully slow for a large batch of files. I've often resorted to manually writing a metadata template in Wordpad an appending the template. It needs to be easier than that.

The IPTC metadata needs a large amount of work across all the Adobe product line.
Desired Functions:
(1)The identical fields/names and consistent characteristics across all products that generate end-user files; for example, Audition (audio), Acrobat (PDF), Photoshop (image), video products and so on. Audition 1.5 still carries the RIFF metadata but no IPTC format data. Acrobat 7.0.7 Pro does have some IPTC like data fields but has a major data integrity problem with the Description field data. In Photoshop CS2, I can utilize CR/LF via "Enter" to make the presentation more readable as separate paragraphs or new line items. In the Acrobat "Description" field I can follow the same procedure and all looks good upon entry. I do a Save and then bring up the IPTC Description data (same file) and all the data after the first CR (Enter) is lost! Never received any error or warning message.
(2) I think this pertains mostly to generation of PDF files. Currently, when I generate a PDF document having the same location/file-name that I designate for the "new" file, I appropriately get the warning about the "same name". In addition, give me the option to have the metadata in the "old" file copied to the "new" file.
(3) Publish (at least in the Help function) all the idiosyncracies for each field (e.g., can I not do CR/LF functions?) and the maximum number of characters possible in each field. Please don't reference me to some standard for the information....tell me what the product line supports! In addition, generate warning messages if I do something outside the field support at the time I am entering data in the field. When possible include such information alongside the field window. One example of this is the note below the keyword window about the comma seperator. The problem with this particular comment is that is states "the comma MAY be used as a separator". Don't tell me what MAY be used...tell me what CAN be used (e.g., spaces, semi-colon, etc.).
(4) Major update required in the Help function for metadata. Right now it is very poor and not of much use.

Apple Support Communities Spellcheck and The Box about why something was Edited

Hi,
Two Questions.
1) Has anyone found a way to make the choice in the SpellChecker anything but English US.
I can change it for one post but the next always is back at English US
(I know the HTML Editor is subject to my computer's settings and is somewhat helpful if untidy)
2) If you come back to edit you post a similar box to the Title Box on the Original Post appears below the main Reply area. (Small and narrow but can have plenty of text added)
It has a standard "Message was Edited by :- (Your alias)" pre-filled.
I prefer/used to add new lines in the Previous software and add why I had Edited.
I find that adding a new line does not actually add them when posted. In fact a Space between the end of my alias and the new add-on text is missing.
Has anyone found a way to tweak the actions of this Box ?
(I have tried HTML <br> tags and the <p> tags to no avail)

Followed by two more enter keys and the br tag and that line as in the pic.
The most that happens is a space is actually created (which may or may not be new)

Spellcheck and certain menus are using UK English instead of US

I'm using InDesign 5.5, Windows XP. I changed my preferences to use the English: USA dictionary and spelling. However while spellchecking it stops on words that are spelled correctly, but when I look at the dialog box, it's referring to the English: UK dictionary. I've also noticed in some of the menus the words are UK versions. For example, instead of "color", it's spelled "colour". Any idea on how to fix this? Thanks!

I checked both the character and paragraph style and they both are English: USA.

I'm certain that there are Spanish dictionaries and thesauri available for Word. I believe that they even come standard with the installation disc and that you can choose to install them. But best to go to the Word experts, I think.

Faulty spellcheck and slow send

Every time I send an email the spellcheck screen comes up, but it never displays actual spelling errors. I turned off spellcheck in Options but the spellcheck screen still displays every time - irritating. Also, sending emails has got very slow, it takes around 10 seconds for a very short email without attachments - maybe the two are connected.

Spellcheck and search

With Word 2008, under Leopard, as under Tiger,grammar check won't work.
Msoft tells it's a bug and will be fixed. Since a year, it never has been
fixed (business as usual).
Also, when searching a word in a document, Word quits.
This never happened with 2004.
Msoft being helpless (business as usual), I wonder if there could be bny hint here ?
PS : Needless to say, I already did all that could be done : recreate normal template, putting preferences in the bin, und so weiter.

Spellcheck and Grammar

I accidentally had the dictionary learn a misspelling instead of correcting it. How do I "unlearn" the word?

In applications that are native to mac all you have to do is highlight the word, control click it, and click "unlearn spelling".
With microsoft word you can undo adding it to the dictionary.

I downloaded Firefox 4.0. Spellchecker is included and I have downloaded English Dictionary as Addon. It does not work on website. Spellchecker does not show up in Context Menu. I have tried every other source. Can you help please?

I understand that Spellchecker is pre-installed but I cannot verify this is the case with v.4.0 Firefox. I have right-clicked on webpages and it does not say Dictionary is missing, so I assume the problem remains with Spellchecker. I expected to find Spellchecker and Languages under Edit in nav bar but it does not show up, What must I do? Richard

Is it possible to spellcheck items in iCal

I cannot find a way to spellcheck (and fix) items that I've misspelled (and copied over and over) throughout my calendar. The contextual menu items in "Spelling & Grammar" do nothing. Does anyone know of a way to find/replace items that are misspelled?

You can't really filter properties from a specific class such as lists to specific users. You could create request offerings that use templates with the specific list item selected but they could sill change the selection if they wanted to.

Anyone else experience these boundaries to productivity and learning in iOS 8.1.1?

I have an iPad Air (wifi only) and iPhone 5s. I'm wondering if the following features exist in iOS 8.1.1 and maybe I've missed it?
#1- Raise to speak for Siri. I know there is "Hey Siri" but in order to use that it requires you to be a wall-hugger. Is that correct? I've read in a discussion board that you can hold down the home button to enable Siri, then bring it up to your ear. That seemed to work somewhat okay for me. I bought my first iPhone for the raise-to-speak feature...bought my 2nd iPhone for that reason. It's a necessary Accessibility feature for me.
#2- I know the Apple Wireless Keyboard always worked with my iPad Air and my iPhone 5s but wasn't always the same experience as when using a Mac. Meaning, the keyboard shortcuts that enabled me to be productive, weren't always enabled. For example, I can still use in Apple Mail, shift+command+D and that would send an e-mail I've drafted. I wish more of the same keyboard shortcuts I use on my MacBook Pro would be enabled with my iPad Air/iPhone 5s. But after updating, I noticed even more shortcuts were taken away. Things like fn+delete, command+delete or option+delete don't delete an entire word or sentence. I also can't use shortcuts anymore to highlight a sentence from my keyboard. Or at least, in Mail there seems to be some decent functionality. But in Safari when trying to send Apple feedback through these forms...no dice (on a consistent/reliable basis). Why not? Please bring that back. Being disabled is no fun. But these shortcuts helped me. Is it me, or have things gotten worse with this Apple accessory with iOS 8.1.1? Or, has anyone found a solution? Yes, I unpaired and re-paired the device. I also notice that while typing with the Apple Wireless Keyboard, it doesn't spell check as I type. That's no fun.
#3- Reliable searching in Spotlight. Keyword here is RELIABLE. I've seen a lot of folks on Twitter posting screenshots of searches in Spotlight in iOS 8.1.1 for even Apple apps (like Phone, Contacts, etc.) and nothing comes up for applications. I've had the same issue when it comes to searching for installed apps on my iOS devices. Why? I know the release notes for iOS 8.1.1 mentioned fixes for iPhone 4s and iPad AIr 2. But what about iPhone 5s and iPad Air? Where's the love? I've tried unchecking and rechecking the Spotlight options. That didn't help. Yes, reset all my settings. Didn't help. Right before iOS 8.1.1 was released, I had restored my devices.
#4- Reliable searching for event in the native Calendar app. Again, keyword here is RELIABLE. So a few times now, I have tried to search for (recent) or future events/appointments in the native Calendar app by tapping the search icon in the app. The result? Nothing was found when searching by that method. However, by going through the Calendar app (day-by-day) I was able to find the appointments/events I needed to. However, this experience was horrible and very tedious. And at first, I just heard about this issue from friends. And family members were asking me for help. Has anyone experienced this issue? Any workarounds?
#5- Battery drain issues since iOS 8.1.1 on both my iPad Air and iPhone 5s. For example, I was using Comcast/Xfinity's TV GO app to watch a movie I downloaded on my iPhone 5s. The device was in Airplane Mode and Location Services was off. The device ran very hot (even though it is quite cool in my apartment and outside, and it was not being plugged in). It went from a charge of 100% to the caution dialog box to recharge in just over 2 hours of viewing. Brightness setting was its lowest. Now, that experience is quite new to me. My battery was replaced by Apple about 4 months ago. I attempted to replicate the issue the following night with the same settings. It wasn't as bad but still a drain much faster than what I've seen before. Has anyone else experienced this type of drain? On my iPad Air, I've noticed a sharp decline in battery performance since updating to iOS 8.1.1 and I don't know why. And it's intermittent and frustrating. I use only Apple cords and adapters. I follow the instructions about Apple batteries and ways to optimize per the Apple website. Yet, I'm seeing a problem. Anyone else? Anyone have a fix?
#6- Is there any way to create location-based reminders on my iPad Air (wifi-only configuration)? I tried to make a location-based reminder and the native Reminders app wasn't having any of it. It would not allow me to do that. Why not? I tether my iPhone to my iPad.
#7 - Is there any way to use Apple Maps on my iPad Air (wifi-only configuration) when tethering my iPhone 5s? It doesn't do turn-by-turn navigation. Why not? Any workarouds?
#8- Sooo.....you know on our iPhones it gives us the cellular data breakout? Is there any way to get a breakout of how the iPad Air is using the Hotspot/cellular data? I ask because I know on Netflix website, there is an option to toggle playback settings. I switched it to "low" since I was going to be traveling. I noticed that when I tethered my iPhone to my MacBook Pro, the playback setting seemed to be at the low setting (based on cellular data usage from my iPhone). But when I tethered my iPhone 5s to my iPad Air, it ate up a whole lot of data. It's as if the Netflix app didn't adhere to change in setting. When I contacted Netflix, they said it was an issue with Apple. When I contacted Apple, they said it was an issue with Netflix. I was hoping to see some kind of cellular data usage report when we tether, so I can better help Apple or Netflix. Or...if you know of a way to get my Netflix to not eat up all my data, that would be great too.
I know this was a lot. But I appreciate any and all help. I'm interested in any other bugs you're seeing with the latest version of iOS 8.1.1. My apologies in advance if this has multiple spelling mistakes. Spellcheck and grammar check don't seem to want to work in this Safari session.

How to disable spellchecker/editor?

I am greatly annoyed with whatever is attempting to spellcheck and edit everything I write on gmail. I've been informed google isn't doing it. The spellchecker/editor is stupid, let's face, and I don't need its help, plus it makes mistakes I then have to correct. How can I stop it? If it's coming from Safari (I have 6.2) where is the "OFF" switch? I thought I got rid of it once and it came back. Thanks for any help with this. MY OSX is 10.8.5

Thank you Eric, for the valuable tip. I hadn't thought to check under the "Edit" columns. There's always something to learn. I adjusted the settings in Safari, but find no such function in my keyboard. For now the problem seems to be resolved. Thanks a million!
