Spontaneously changing fonts in book &  ???Back flap picture caption????

Hello! I am making my second book and and attempting to adjust the fonts. I select what I want and then, when I close the "Settings" tab, the fonts instantly change to things I have NOT selected and are not the default fonts either. Some also greatly change in size as well all by themselves. Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong here? Additionally, on my last book I was able to write a small caption below the picture on the inside flap of the back cover. I see I can put a picture there but can't figure out how to type anything underneath of it. What am I missing??? It's driving me crazy!!!! Thanks for any help you can provide!!!!!!

Try trash the com.apple.iPhoto.plist file from the HD/Users/ Your Name / library / preferences folder. (Remember you'll need to reset your User options afterwards. These include minor settings like the window colour and so on. Note: If you've moved your library you'll need to point iPhoto at it again.)
*What's the plist file?*
For new users: Every application on your Mac has an accompanying plist file. It records certain User choices. For instance, in your favourite Word Processor it remembers your choice of Default Font, on your Web Browser is remembers things like your choice of Home Page. It even recalls what windows you had open last if your app allows you to pick up from where you left off last. The iPhoto plist file remembers things like the location of the Library, your choice of background colour, whether you are running a Referenced or Managed Library, what preferences you have for autosplitting events and so on. Trashing the plist file forces the app to generate a new one on the next launch, and this restores things to the Factory Defaults. Hence, if you've changed any of these things you'll need to reset them. If you haven't, then no bother. Trashing the plist file is Mac troubleshooting 101.

  • How do I change font and colors back to default?

I have changed the font and color of the text through the tools button and the options button and the content tab. I find nothing telling me how to change the font and colors back to default font and colors. Can you advise me? I'm using Windows 7 Home Premium OS. Thanks.

    Hi Brenda19605,
You can use this article to set the fonts and colors: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/change-fonts-and-colors-websites-use?esab=a&s=font&r=0&as=s
The default settings for the font are in this article:
    https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Some%20text%20shows%20up%20bold%20after%20upgrade
Unfortunately for the default colors has no good reference. But for text it is black (most lower left) color, background is white (most upper left color). Unvisited links is blue (column 8, row 5) and visited link is purple (column 9, row 5).
Let me know if you need anymore help!

  • Adobe Captivate 7: Change font size of imported localized closed captions

I'm attempting to use the export/import captions functionality in Captivate 7 and when I import the text, the imported Japanese characters are HUGE. The font in the imported Word doc aren't that big and I'm unsure how to adjust the imported closed captions to they display correctly. As you can see below, the characters are way too big. I've tried adjusting the font size in the CC Project Settings window, but no luck. Any suggestions? Thanks!!

Thank you for your helpful Adobe Captivate postings... Your material is better than Adobe's online help because you use visual screen shots and videos. Also you explain how to find comands in the Captivate menu.

  • How do I change the sorting order of the pictures I want to take from an album to a photo book?

I have an album that contains over 300 pictures.  I put them in the order I want them to appear in the photo book I want to make.  When I select the entire content and choose Create Book, all the pictures appear on the right hand side of the book in two long columns, like they're supposed to.  Problem is, they're not in the same order as they were in the album and I have to go searching for each picture because they're all over the place.  I get the feeling I'm missing something very simple, yet crucial.  Any help would be much appreciated.  BTW, I use iPhoto 9.1.3 on an iMac running 10.6.7.

    1) Open Discoverer Admin Edition.
    2) DO NOT open any Business Areas.
    3) Create a new Business Area with any old table in it (ex: SCOTT.EMP or a custom folder SELECT 'test' col1 FROM sys.dual)
    4) Navigate to File -> Open.
    5) Open up ONE Business Area (The one you want to appear first)
    6) Navigate to File -> Open
    7) Open up the next Business Area (The one you want to appear second) ....Repeat for all Business Areas..... 8) Select all of your REAL Business Areas and export (exclude the dummy Business Area)
    9) Take a DB export of the EUL owner as a backup.
(you need to log into SQL*Plus or another SQL tool as the SQL owner to do this - take an export of all the tables of the schema)
    10) Delete ALL Business Areas.
    11) Import the .eex file.
You might be able to skip Step 9 if your database gets backed up anyway or if you trust the EUL export and import.

  • Changing fonts in iphoto book very buggy

When I tried to change either the font or font size on the cover and it OK, all fonts throughout the book changed. When clicking on return to default all fonts changed again, but not to the original default font........help.

I found some strange behaviour when changing fonts in a calendar I was producing. I found that clicking on the +Page Design+ button, which reapplies the default design for a particular page, fixed the problem for me. Annoying, though!

  • Font size changes in one book changes all books-

I'm really enjoying the new iBooks service on my iPad. The only issue I have, more of an irritation than a major problem and I'm not sure if I'm doing it wrong or if it is an oversight with the way the iBooks app works, is that changing font size in one book changes the font size in others…
Currently I'm reading the Steve Jobs biography, mainly during the day, and also the Game of Thrones series, mostly at night before bed. The problem is, these two books have wildly different default font sizes - the Steve Jobs book having much larger text. If I downsize the text in Steve Jobs, it downsizes it in the other book too.
This wouldnt be such a problem except that resizing text reflows the whole book and I lose my page…
Is this an oversight with the app or am I missing some setting I should change? Or is this related to syncing between devices?
    Any ideas?

I'm having a similar issue with the Jobs book. I'm not switching between books, the autobiography is just resetting the font itself. Every night I scale it down, then the next night the font is huge again.

  • How to drag photo to back flap in aperture book

why can't I drag a photo to back flap in apertue when making a book?

What is your Aperture version? And what is the Theme of your book?
In Aperture 3 you drag the image to the back flap by moving it onto the Photo Box in single page view or double page view.  Don't drag it to the pages browser.

  • How do I return Font Book back to it's install condition?

I accidently dropped a couple of thousand fonts into Font Book. (Big clumsy hands, me)
What is the best way to get Font Book back to it's install default condition?
I will get TimeMachine up and running - next time I won't have this problem.

Success. But if there is a next time around I will trash them directly from the Fonts folder in my user folder, as it took an age (overnight) for Font Book to delete them.
Now, where did I put that Time Machine tutorial ... ?

  • Can't change my Address Book picture??

Does anyone know how I can change my Address Book picture? I drag a photo I want to the current vcard pic, and the edit window opens up and I adjust the zoom and everything, but when I click "Set" the old picture is still there.
I've tried changing this on my iMac and on my iBook and the same thing happens (old picture remains).
Anyone know what I am doing wrong?

Click on your card, choose Address Book>Card>Clear Custom Image...then Address Book>Card>Choose Custom Image.

  • Changing Font Box Sizes

I want to delete some font boxes and expand others in one of the templates for a book in iPhoto 6. Can this be done or am I stuck using the tiny, unreadable, fonts that are supplied with this template. I know how to change font sizes but need to change the size of the font box to accommodate the change.
Thanks in advance for any help you might suggest.

    OTW:
Unfortunately that can't be done. If you have an advanced image editor like Photoshop Elements you can create a full page, 8.5 x 11 x 300 dpi, canvas and add you photos and text where ever you want and then use that file in a one photo per page layout.
If either of your Macs came with OmniGraffle you can use it do create multiple photo and text box layout.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB file backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • I want to order a second copy of an iPhoto book. Thought created in the smaller format only the larger format is showing. How can I switch an existing iPhoto book back to the smaller format?

I want to order a second copy of an existing iPhoto book. Though created in the smaller format now only the larger format is showing. How can I switch an existing iPhoto book back to the smaller format?

To change a book size duplicate it (select the book in the source pane and press command and D) since text flow and picture  placements can change due to the size differences - then click on change themes, select the same theme and the new size
    check it carefully
Before ordering your book preview it using this method - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1040 - and save the resulting PDF for reference - the delivered book will match it.

  • After upgrading calender changed to a book

I upgraded iLife to '08 and also upgraded my OS from Panther to Leopard. When I opened iPhoto for the first time after upgrading, one of my projects had changed file type. I had several calenders in progress and a book, and one of the calenders is now a book. I don't know how to find the original file or change it back. Do I need to start all over now? Please help!

There's now way to change the "book" back to a calendar. However, you can create a new calendar with one photo, open the "book", select each of the photos in the photo tray at the top and drag it onto the new calendar icon in the left hand window. Unfortunately you can't select them all at one time and drag. That will put those photos in the new calendar for you to add to the appropriate month and day.
    Do you Twango?

  • Can no longer change fonts in Mail messages

All of the sudden (within the last couple of days), I find I can no longer change the font - or even the style (bold, italic) of any new mail message. I can change the color, but that's about it. The font stays as whatever the default Message Font is. I did try changing the default to verify it was not a font corruption issue.
I don't think it's a font panel issue since I can change Fonts, Styles, etc. in other apps that use the Font Panel.
    Anyone have any thoughts?
    Thanks up front.
    -fQ-

Some more tests .. it's definitely not the app itself .. I booted from my external .. and I launched the Mail app on my main .. and it worked fine (of course, all my accounts, etc weren't there) .. so you're right .. it's either a prefs thing (though not the "com.apple.mail.plist" file since opening a brand new user still has the same problem).. or maybe even a corrupt .pkg file in Receipts .. wait a sec .. replaced the Mail.pkg file just to check .. still nope. So it's gotta be something low level.
At this point, I'm thinking what may be easier on both of us is ... I'm waiting for the Apple Box Set (Leopard/iLife 09/iWork 09) to start shipping before I upgrade .. that should be pretty soon .. so I'll just hand on till then (it's really not all that big a deal I guess in the big picture .. just irritating) .. and see if upgrading corrects the issue .. if not, then I guess I'm off bug hunting again.
Again .. thanks ever so much for your time and effort.
I'll post back here with the results either way.
