Spry Accordion No Highlight Upon Selection

Im working with the spry accordion and when ever i click on a tab the entire outline of the accordion gets highlighted in blue (ie,chrome) or gets a marquee kind of selection around entire outside ( firefox ) is there a way to turn this off so it just works like a normal element?

is there a way to turn this off so it just works like a normal element?
Yes there is - you check and modify the respective CSS rules for borders and outlines.

  • Spry Accordion - Select List - Firefox

    Hi,
    I have an accordion panel with a quick access enquiiry form
    on one page. In Firefox, whenever the accordion is clicked, I get
    the 'link border' - to overcome this, I put an
    "onFocus='this.blur();'" action on the accordion.
    Whenever the select list is clicked, it loses focus (because
    Firefox interprets actions and behaviours in an heirachy format I
    think??) because of the action on the accordion.
    How can I stop this happening - I'm guessing the solution
    will either involve keeping focus on the select / drop-down menu,
    or removing the link border by scrubbing it somehow.
    Please help!!!
    Thanks,

    U can remove the dotted border by adding
    outline: none; to the elements class (css)

  • Spry accordion subpage troubles

    Hello all,
    I used DW CS4 to set up a spry accordion for my site (www.apposite.us) navigation menu.  I was able to change some of its behaviors and appearance and am mostly satisfied, but I have two lasting issues:
    1. I want the 'Home' tab to share the style and behavior of the rest of the accordion, but since it does not have any content, DW seems to interpret it as 'broken' and refuses to return the index page upon selection.  I tried to fix the issue by defining an empty content panel, which fixes the 'broken' issue, but the change messes up spacing relative to the rest of the menu.
    2.  I want a particular panel to remain open upon selection of its content (right now, the panel reverts to collapsed when a content page is opened).  I found a solution that involves working with several templates, but I would like to avoid this if at all possible.
    Any suggestions on either improving the function of this accordion or setting up the menu more effectively using a different method would be greatly appreciated.
    Jane

    Sorry, my followup message should read:
    Hi Gramps,
    Your suggestion for part one of my problem worked (thank you!), but I am still having problems implementing part two.
    As it is currently constructed, all pages are set up with the same template, which includes
    var Accordion1 = new Spry.Widget.Accordion("MenuLabels", { useFixedPanelHeights: false });
    in its code.  Is there a way to make any selected content return its parent panel?  Or is there a way to make an editable code region within the template (I have tried but not succeeded in doing this)?  If the code you suggested
    var Accordion1 = new Spry.Widget.Accordion("MenuLabels", { defaultPanel: 2, useFixedPanelHeights: false });
    must be added to each linked content page, how do I achieve this without divorcing it from the template?
    Thanks again,
    Jane

    Welcome to the Forum!
    If you can upload your page to a server and give us a link, we will be able to look at your page in action. Just seeing the code is not enough.
    Is this the first time you have used an Accordion? It is probable that the bright neon blue you are seeing is the default style, which you can change in the CSS file. I believe it was designed that color to highlight the feature you want to change .
    Take a look in the Accordion's CSS file (it will show as an associated file at the top of your document window) for color rules, and adjust them to suit your palette (and your palate!). Check out the CSS Styles Panel (use Current mode) for a handy way to know what you are looking at. Click on the Accordion in Design View and the rules will be highlighted in the CSS Styles Panel. (Click the right-hand stair-step icon to see the style cascade.)

  • Desperate help needed in understanding SPRY accordion CSS

    hello everybody
    like many out there im stumbling through some home/self tuition on DW. I've recently checked out the spry accordion. It all went well up to the part where I wanted to improve the outlook of the accordion. I luckily found some templates on the adobe site with an accordion with the general idea as to how I would like an accordion to look, or at least a platform for future ideas. (Design #2 at:  http://www.adobe.com/devnet/dreamweaver/?view=samples )
    I've had a look through the code and have found great difficulty understanding a few of the div classes that are contained within it, i.e. what they are attributed to etc.
    Here is the HTML and the Spry CSS docs that I downloaded from the link above:

    Thank you to anybody again who may be able to assist me with this. I'm very new to DW (and some may say not the brightest) so any low level explanations will be really appreciated.

    Heya, I hope my response will help.
    First off, I'd like to say that you are correct in being unable to find the " <div  class="accordion_340_tab"> " anywhere in the project. I went through and checked all the code and couldn't find a reference anywhere. Also, I downloaded the project from your link, deleted the <div class="accordion_340_tab"> as well as the </div> right after the TELLUS PROIN EU ERAT" (as the opening div and closing div work together and must be added or deleted together) and it had absolutely no impact from what I could see in internet explorer 8 and firefox.
    Therefore, I  believe, that it was originally intended to do something or in fact did something but they took that out and then forgot to take out the div. Even within the internal .js file I couldn't find a reference. Maybe they forgot to upload a third stylesheet. Either way, it appears to work just fine without it.
         "I'm not quite sure what the  two <div  style="clear:both;"></div> are clearing."
    In regards to this, this div style tag is a less frequently used tag that can divide content. Do you know what the HR tag in html is? If not, try putting a <hr> tag (just like that, by itself) in your web page somewhere. HR stands for Horizontal Rule- it makes a horizontal line across the page. This div style clear both tag is basically an invisible HR that helps separate different divs or content or whatever else is on the page. Think of it as an invisible page break.
         "I know the label title is situated within  them (at least i think they are!!) but i dont quite understand what they  are doing or mean."
    You should check out some CSS tutorials for the basics, but in a nutshell I'll go ahead and explain what I believe you are having trouble with.
    Let's put it this way:
    HTML is the core of your web page. It is the content and substance.
    CSS is the style of your web page. It is the color, alignment, and format of your page.
    The "div" tag by itself is simply <div>. However, you MUST close a div tag somewhere on the page with a </div> A div tag by itself, however, will do absolutely nothing. How do you get it to do something? By making a CSS rule, the two most common of which are known as a "div id" and "div class".
    The differences between div id and div class are pretty small- div id is mainly used for a div tag that will only be used once on the web page. Div classes are used for something that will be repeated, in this case, the accordion tabs.
    Therefore, when you see something like <div id="content"> text blah blah blah </div>, then you know that the "text blah blah blah" is your content, and that content is being modified to the specifications of the id "content". Where is this "content" div? This is what you as the designer make (or there will already be one in a template) and can usually be found in an external STYLESHEET, which holds all of your css rules, and is then linked to the main web page's html document (where your content is) with a link tag in the header of the html, usually right after the title and before the end of the <header> tag. You will find <link href="example.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" /> but with a different name in the part i put as "example.css"
    Within that css document you have different things you can do. Let's say I want to make one div id and one div class. I want to name the ID "example1" and the class "example2". It would look something like this (note that you must ALWAYS start an ID with # and a class with a period)
    #example1 {
    width: 450px;
    margin:auto;
    color: #fff;
    .example2 {
    width: 900px;
    margin: 10px;
    color: #000;
    I hope this helped.

  • Using an image as label in Spry Accordion Menu

    I was wondering if it was possible to use an image instead of
    text in the spry accordion menu. I have replaced the text that is
    there with a roll-over image link however I'm unable to label it
    since it uses the text as the label and therefore can't set the
    default panel I want opened. Is there a way to do this? Thanks for
    your help.

    Is it possible to look at the Help or at the Pages User Guide
    In the English one, page 17, we may read:
    • Some graphics, such as watermarks or logos, appear on pages. These objects are called master objects. If you cannot select an object in a template, it’s probably a master object. To learn more, see “Using Master Objects (Repeated Background Images)” on page 60.
    You can drag or place objects on a page, including imported graphics, movies, and sound, or objects that you create within Pages, including text boxes, charts, tables, and shapes.
    You can also insert pages that have been preformatted for the template you’re using. Click Pages or Sections in the toolbar and choose a template page. The new page is added immediately after the page where you placed the insertion point.

  • Spry Accordion Hover/Active Issue

    I have designed a spry accordion widget for a FAQ page and within Dreamweaver CS6 it is fully functional.  The color I've selected doesn't occur with a hover or an active tab once EVERYTHING is uploaded.  Below is a live link to the problem page, my Spry CSS and layout CSS as well as a screenshot of the proper functionality occuring in Dreamweaver.  Thoughts?

  • A simple Spry Accordion Question (I think)

    Hi all:
    I've searched but can't find, but I think this is a simple one.
    I've created a basic Spry accordion menu with DW/CS3 - Insert/Spry/Spry Accordion. How do I get the first "Content 1" to be hidden/not visible upon page load. Right now, the "Lable 2" must be clicked to hide the "Content 1" which of course shows the "Content 2"? Guessing it's in the JS, but I'm not sure. TIA for any help. HTML and JS Code below.

  • Spry Accordion not working!

    I have a spry accordion in my page and I'm using Dreamweaver to do my editing.  I use this all the time, but have never had this happen before.  When in Design mode, if I click anywhere within the accordion structure a blue box appears around the structure, and I am unable to made any edits.  When I hover over the structure, I get a pop-up that shows ID, DIV, Overflow, etc.
    Can anyone help me?

    You probably have overflow:hidden specified somewhere in your CSS code for float containment.
    Use Split View or Code View to edit the code.
    Or, double click in Design View.
    Or, right-click in Design View and & select Element View > Full.

  • Spry Accordion Menu Tab Link css - totally confused

    Thanks folks from an l-plater but I've totally confused myself trying to work this out and I'm hoping some fresh eyes will see the answer clear as day.  I've created a spry accordion menu with links in the actual panel tabs.  Menu and links all working fine - problem is in css styling, particularly panel tab link open and hover states which should be blue text over green background, same as non-link panel tabs.  You'll see from code that I've tried a few styles but can't get this to work.  I'm thinking I've totally overdone it and some styles are overriding others and solution is a simple deletion of some unnecessary or conflicting styles.
    Thanks so much in advance for your help - I just can't see for looking any more though I'm sure it can't be hard.

    Yes Beth, you're right and I've corrected my css - I think - problem with AccordionPanelTab link open and hover states still happening so css still wrong.  I've uploaded site so you can see what's happening (www.11acu.org).  All tab states should be as per Photo Gallery, Newsletters and Forms.  Hover state in tab links seem okay until mouse moves away from "a href" block - rest of tab area not working so its like the two styles, ie "AccordionPanelTab" and "AccordionPanelTab a:hover" are both working at the same time but I only want the latter to work.  Now I've probably got you confused as well! lol Apologies!  Recreated css for tab links below.  Html same as in original post.  Any help much appreciated.

  • Spry accordion help...

    uhm, so here it goes...
    well as you can see i have spry accordion issue here...
    it seems that some of the contents are having scroll bars and
    some dont...
    is there a way to eliminate this kind of thing?
    here below is the html of my spry accordion that i used:

    Anyway in your CSS file select this class
    .AccordionPanelContent, erase the height property and change
    overflow: auto; to overflow: hidden;
    Your constructor function it’s at the bottom of your
    HTML file and looks something like this:
    <script type="text/javascript">
    <!--
    var Accordion1 = new Spry.Widget.Accordion("Accordion1");
    //-->
    </script>
    Change it to this:
    <script type="text/javascript">
    <!--
    var Accordion1 = new Spry.Widget.Accordion("Accordion1",
    {useFixedPanelHeights:false});
    //-->
    </script>
    Best Regards :-)

  • SPRY accordion widget IE8 ONLY issue

    hello everybody,
    i noticed a strange "jumpy" behavior while using the spry accordion widget -- this affects IE8 only (currently using 8.0.6001.18882 on vista), other browsers (including IE7 and IE8 forced into IE7 mode) work as expected. this issue seems to be related to the margin property of the accordion container...
    not shure whether this behavior is related to IE rendering or the spry javascript code itself... anyway i made NO changes to the spry script (my version is 0.15, 1.6.1, which i believe to be most recent one).
    the xhtml (strict) and css are perfectly valid (there might be some MINOR css hacks which are not related to the accordion itself). i do NOT use ANY padding on the inner container of the accordion (which would definetely make the spry js count the tween in odd way). the accordions (especially the main menu on the left) are little more complex, but they were built according to the spry widget document, found on the adobe spry website.
    so, here it is -- check the accordion on the left side (the bug seems to happen almost always while opening/closing the last BLUE "section" of the accordion, please play with the accordion for a while to reproduce it -- while the accordion closes, it "loses" it's bottom margin (i guess), what's even more wierd, everything gets back to place after you move a mouse):
    http://www.prazskematky.cz/home.php
    PLEASE NOTICE: since the website is still under development and i'm using a IE meta tag to force it into IE7 rendering, to reproduce this behavior please be shure to switch IE engine to IE8 standards mode
    well, we all now how IE handles css... so it's propably an IE bug -- anyway if you have encountered a similar issue of even better found a fix, please let know. (i don't consider a fix switching to another js library, i would like to use the spry, because of it's DW integration)
    many thanks,
    p.s.

    Are you referring to what it looks like in Design view? If
    so, that's
    correct. Accordion panels have a fixed height. From memory, I
    think it's
    200px. However, if you test the page in a browser, you should
    see a
    scrollbar automatically generated on panels that have content
    that
    exceeds the height of the panel.
    If you want flexible-height panels in the accordion, you need
    to adjust
    both the CSS and the script that initializes the accordion. I
    have
    covered all the details in my "Essential Guide to Dreamweaver
    CS3" (and
    the forthcoming CS4 edition). You can probably find online
    tutorials as
    well. Try a Google search for Spry flexible height accordion.
    The accordion widget has been around since CS3, and it hasn't
    changed in
    CS4, so a Google search should bring up a lot of information.

  • Spry Accordion Image Issue

    I have inserted a Spry Accordion in Dreamweaver CS5, however, I'm having issues with the viewing of the tabs on load, on hover, etc. I want a dark blue tab on load, have it change to a wavy red white tab, and when opened go to a dark blue tab with a star. I can never get this to work as I want. I've checked the image files and they are labeled correctly. The test site is www.sbcvote.us/index_spry.html
    I am a novice, and really have a hard time on this issue, that no doubt is not that complicated to those that know.
    Thank you in advance for your help.
    On my index page I have the css page reference.
    <link href="/SpryAssets/SpryAccordion.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" />
    the css code is:
    .AccordionPanelTab {
    border-top: solid 1px black;
    border-bottom: solid 1px gray;
    margin: 0px;
    padding: 2px;
    cursor: pointer;

    -khtml-user-select: none;

    Thank you so very much, I appreciate the quick response. However, I still have one small issue. For some unknown reason the bluestar tab does not show the star. It shows the tab, but no star. I've got it labeled correctly and it's pointing to the correct files, but I get the blue by itself. I know it must be a very simple solution and I must be doing something incorrect.
    the files are under:
    images/accordion/accordion_tabs_bluestar.jpg, and accordion_tabs_redwhite.jpg. The redwhite shows up. This is driving me nuts! I even went back and re-did the image file and saved it again, but all I get is the blue without the star. Can it be that the image is too big and cutting off the star that is to the right of it?
    Thank you so much, I do greatly appreciate your kind help.
    the other one is
    The code was copied and pasted exactly as was suggested. There is no other blue tab file on the server, so I am confused just a bit.
    Thanks again for helping an newbie, I appreciate it.

    Thanks Gramps, that information was really helpful.
    I just removed all instances of 'rgba' in the .css rules that specify color, changing it to 'rgb' and also removing the 4th parameter indicating the transparency value.
    Now that I understand what the problem was it actually makes complete sense, since IE does not support transparency.
    Thanks again.

    Apologies in advance if I'm asking a daft question!!

    Hi,
    using your source code, I couldn't find a really inserted "Spry Accordion". If I do that (translated from german DW) > Insert > Spry > Spry Accordion, I'll find in my DW source code something like that:
      <div id="Accordion1" class="Accordion" tabindex="0">
        <div class="AccordionPanel">
          <div class="AccordionPanelTab">Bezeichnung 1</div>
          <div class="AccordionPanelContent">Inhalt 1</div>
        </div>
        <div class="AccordionPanel">
          <div class="AccordionPanelTab">Bezeichnung 2</div>
          <div class="AccordionPanelContent">Inhalt 2</div>
        </div>
      </div>
    and in design view:
    Please control your DW-entries.
