Spry validation inside CFDIV - possible?
I have a CFDIV bound to a grid via navigate(). CFDIV contains
an HTML form (I need multipart/form-data to upload images and
cfform inside cfdiv seems to only submit async).
I tried to use spry validation on the form but It does not
seem to fire at all. Has anyone made spry validation functionality
work inside a cfdiv of is it just impossible?
Spry validation does not seem to fire when a form is loaded
via Spry.Widget.HTMLPanel like this:

Ugh. This is driving me nuts!
I've used the Spry Validation Confirm Widget successfully before, but for some reason I can't spot, I get this error message every time I try to load the page: Spry.ValidationConfirm ERR: The element ConfirmPasswordWidget doesn't exists!

I have narrowed down the cause.
This error appears if the form to which the confirm validation is applied is inside an if condition that is not met, causing the form not to appear in the html source. It doesn't seem to affect the password validation similarly, just the confirm validation.
Doesn't this have to be bug? I'm not fluent in Javascript, so I'd sure appreciate someone telling my how to work around this.
This is the structure that causes the error to be generated, but only when condition is FALSE. If condition is TRUE, no error is generated.

Spry validation text field across two columns in a table?
I have a table with two columns. I can easily insert a spry validated text field into the left cell but when I drag the box over so that box is in the right column and the label is still in the left column then that breaks the widget.
Is this even possible for me to do or do I have to put the widget in just one column?Think I figured it out.

After Spry validation how to redirect to a "you have successfully register" page
I am helping a friend set up a webpage for her business. You can see the website here www.themessagetext.com. I used a Spry validation for the phone number and the checkbox. One the validation is verified, I want the user to be redirected to a page that says that they have successfully register. Right now it takes you to an ugly page. It looks like an error page, but it says that you have successfully register.
I am using Internet Explorer 7. I am also using CS4 Dreamweaver. I am also usingSpryValidationCheckbox.css - version 0.4 - Spry Pre-Release 1.6.1 and SpryValidationTextField.css - version 0.4 - Spry Pre-Release 1.6.1

Spry Validation - Advanced Customization
Hi,
I am creating a form and using the spry validation widgets for Dreamweaver Cs3. By defualt when a form is in the valid state, the input field turns green.
What I would like to find out is, is it possible to use an image/background image e.g. small "tick" icon to display at the side of the input for validation rather than the input itself? I know the invalid states have span classes that control the error messages, but I am not sure which class style I can target to use an image for my valid state rather the the default green input field.
Any help would be much appreciated.
I found a link to an adobe lab demo which does exactly what I want but unfortunetely does not show how to do it and what version of dreamweaver it is using.

Hello, is it possible to use onblur in a spry validation text field? I want to use spry to validate text field input to be required and 4 to 32 chars long but i want on blur to make ajax request to check if the username is available (this is for registration form). However if i use onblur="check_username(this.value)" it does not trigger the onblur event at all.
Strange this does not work correct. I even tried with the click event to be sure. Below is my code:

When i load the page in browser with this code it displays alert box with empty message (because username value is empty) immediately after page load, and never displays a thing when i click the text field.
If i use

without parentheses after the handler function name it does absolutely nothing on click too. Any idea?

Spry Validation, how to strip spaces from end
I have a form that is using Spry Validation. I'm validating onBlur and the field is required. Everything works great, except if a user accidentally types a space at the end of their entry. for example, they enter an e-mail address and put a space at the end - it will tell them it's not valid. How can I strip the spaces? Is it possible using the onBlur?
Still having some trouble figuring this out. Now it's not accepting a valid e-mail (even w/o spaces entered at the end)?

Spry validation error message position
Hi all,
I really like the spry validation however I would like it so that when you hit submit and the form has errors, another error message appears near the button so the user knows when there is an error.

Spry validation problem for long forms
I used the Spry Validation Widgets for my form validation. It
works great, BUT the problem is that if you have a very long form
and the user doesn’t fill in one of the top required fields,
it doesn’t scroll the browser back up to the required field,
or present a message next to the submit button telling the person
that not all required fields have been filled in. Nothing appears
to happen at all, which would be confusing to users. I added my own
message underneath the Submit button which reads "If this form does
not submit, check for required entries at the top of this page.*",
but is there a way to add an extra popup message that could appear
next to the Submit button instead? (I know that we can't mix the
Validate Form behavior with the Spry Validation widgets.)Came across the same issue as well. To solve this I added in
three lines of code into the 'SpryValidationTextField.js' file that
is created via DW. Inside of that include look for the following
code:

refreshed to a specific html anchor. For example:

on the page. So right before my html form starts I have:

The error occurs again and the validation is not yet done. Which means, that the fields with problems will not be marked. When entering the field afterward and changing or blur everything works ok and the field is marked in red. Only the onload is not working.

Spry Validation in Tabbed Panel
I've created a form that has a number of sections which I
have separated out using a spry tabbed panel. So far, so good.
On one of the panels, however, is a select box that is
required, so I have used a spry validation widget to look after it.
Now, if the select box hasn't been used then and the submit button
is clicked while one of the other panels is open, because the
validation widget halts the form it makes it look as though nothing
has happened. The warning message is only visible when the correct
panel is open.
My question is this: how do I either (a) force the panel with
the error on to reopen or (b) make the error message show up
elsewhere on the page so that it is visible? I tried positioning it
absolutely above the whole panel but it still only shows up when
the relevant panel is oen.I have actually added multiple tabbed panels inside of tabbed
panels as well as collapsible panels inside of tabbed panels and
vise versa. This works across all browsers (IE 6 & 7, FF 2,
Safari 2 & 3).
The key for me was to use <div style="clear: both"> (I
put a comment here to satisfy IE6) </div> at the bottom of
the tab, before the closing of the tab since I was using a lot of
floating within the tabbed panels.
If you share some code, I'm sure someone could give you a
more specific answer. -

I see that there is a way to specify a custom function to a
spry validation widget like so:

To do this, make your region depend on both
ds_ProductCategories and ds_BestConvertingByCategory, then use the
spry:test attribute in conjunction with spry:repeat to weed out
items that don't have the same product id:

Remember that if you make a region depend on more than one
data set, you need to switch to using fully qualified data
references as the example above does (using the :: notation). If
you don't do that the data references default to the first data set
in the spry:region attribute.
