Spurious VIs linked to button ?

Working with LabVIEW7.1 I encountered the most puzzling fault, which I would very much like to understand the source of it, as well as find a suitable bypass.
The basic problem I was dealing with is identifying the type of some refnum. This was done by casting it to the tested type, then using the error output of some property node to decide whether the cast was successful.
However, the following scenario yields some bizarre results:
Casting a button refnum to a VI refnum.
There is a 'Value Change' Event handle for this button.
The 'Details Display Dialog.vi' is in memory.
Building the application using the 'Enable ActiveX server' option.
Running the VI in my development zone indeed generates the expected error, but the resulting application does not generate this error as it successfully casts the button to 'Details Display Dialog.vi' !
I've attached the reduced VI together with the related executable.

Why do you use typecast?
You can use 'to more specific class' OR the Class name property:
These will give you more control over the control type.

How to perform expand and collapse operation on click of link or button

Hi
Is there anyway by which i can perform expand and collapse operation over a table on click of a command link or button without using show details component.
Is there any other alternative to show detail.
I do not want to use show detail because of the following reason.
I have got a page where in i pass some parameters to the URL based on which details get displayed on the page.
Now when i pass a parameter, change the parameter, once again send the previously used parameter(i,e the parameter that i passed initially), values in the table under show detail do not show any change in values.
Once i pass values which i have already passed, values in the table under show detail component do not refreshed.
If anyone has encountered with similar situation, then please post me reply's as to how you could over come the problem??

Perhaps you could use an on-demand application process instead - you can specify these in the URL.
The URL syntax (for your link) would be like...

Help with Re-Linking Navigation Buttons

I have Adobe Flash CS3 Pro.
I have a navigation header flash file that came with my website template and I am having difficulty making sense of the actionscript. It has a logo section with effects, 5 main nav buttons that move, and two extra link buttons above the navigation bar. Let’s focus on just the Navigation buttons for now. Here is what I have gathered. I have multiple text buttons on one movieclip, and I have successfully edited the text for each button. If I look at the actionscript in the top layer of this movieclip I see:
“gotoAndStop(parent._parent.num);”
I also have a separate movieclip symbol (with effects) with 5 buttons layers listed in the actionscript with the following actionscript tied to each button from numbers 1 through 5:

My problem is that I have created new pages (index.html, about.html, featured.html, projects.html, contact.html). I would like each of the 5 buttons to correspond to these pages, not the existing standard “index-n.html” pages.
Also, this is probably not relevant, but each html page has something to this affect so I can see how they correspond to each button.

I guess my real question is: What actionscript do I need to update or remove for the nav button LINKS to work with my new html pages rather than the standard 5 index-n.html pages that it automatically wants to link to?
When I try and add a “getURL” command to each of the 5 buttons and test preview the movie, the links work, but it messes up the effects of the movieclip. In other words, the buttons don’t move, they are motionless, however the links work. If I added this command to each button in some way, what actionscript would I need to remove so there weren’t any complications? I need some expert help here for it would be much appreciated. I am a novice with Flash script and its killing me that I can’t figure it out. I asked for help from the template support and all they came back with was the following message and it wasn’t helpful:
You need to duplicate each button you are editing - it is very important.
2) Update the scripting to look similar way:

First of all, thank you for showing interest and helping out in my dilemma here. I wish I understood your meaning behind “on” because with my luck there is probably some hidden way of placing script on an object that I don’t understand or haven’t discovered yet.
This is what I know:
I have multiple text buttons on one movieclip entitled “textbutton1” (see previous picture), and I have successfully edited the text for each button and created two extra frames/buttons to make 7 total. If I look at the actionscript in the top layer of this movieclip I see:
“gotoAndStop(parent._parent.num);”
But there is no action on each individual frame (all 7 of them) on that layer.
Like I mentioned before I have a separate movieclip symbol (entitled “menu effect”) with 7 button movieclip layers listed in the actionscript with the following actionscript on each layer.

How to add custom link or button to task details page to open a different t

Dear All
In HumanTasks Workflow, On task details page, I want to add a custom link or button. Clicking on this link or button, should load a different task details page.
The exact business usecase is like this:
1. We have some human tasks with very detailed payload like about 100 attributes. When the task is submitted for Approval, we send notification emails. These emails shows the Task Details with all these 100 attributes along with standard Approve, Reject buttons etc. NOW in addition to this, we want to add extra custom button/link like Custom View. When we click on this buton or link, it should replace the task details page with the Custom task details page contents. The reason is most of the managers/approvers access their emails on smart phones like iphones. So in these phones, seeing full task details (100 attributes) is very tedious. So we want to provide a simplified view of same task with very minimum attributes like about 10 with Approve, Reject buttons. Now this compact view details will have a button called Detailed View on click on which it loads details page.
So we want to have 2 pages for a task:
taskDetails1.jspx -> Has all 100 attributes with a custom button/link called "Compact View". Click on Compact View switch to below page.
taskCompact1.jspx -> Has only 10 attributes with a custom button/link called "Detailed View". Click on Detailed View switch to above page.
1. I tried implementing this using the VacationRequest sample where the payload is like creator, startdate, enddate, reason. I already have taskDetails1.jspx page, which shows this information in the email body.
2. I want to add another button to taskDetails1.jspx so that when I click on it, I want to load a different page like taskCompact.jspx which has only say creator, reason.
I already added a link and gave the url with parameters like taskId, taskContext etc which I got from bindings, but nothing is displayed when I click on custom button. The taskId, context values are comming correctly in the url.
So bottom line, what is the URL that I can provide in the task details page, to load a different task details page contents. I want to pass other taskdetails jsp details.
Please let me know, if there is any other approach to implement this usecase.

Hi,
I am not sure if you can add your own custom buttons to the application tool bar because your table control is in a sub screen area in a standard screen so the menu area would be controlled by the standard screen and not the subscreen , but along side the table control you can give buttons for scrolling and handle the same in the subscreen if you check the FM EXIT_SAPLMEREQ_002 it has a variable IM_UCOMM which would have the ucomm set in the subscreen so here you can handle your user command to scroll on the table control.

Flash menu in DW, how do I link the buttons?

I have a problem, i'm creating a site in dreamweaver with a
lot of flash objects. For examlpe I'm making a flash menu, wich is
the hole problem! I'm importing the flash file to the left frame in
dreamweaver and i'm trying to link the buttons (on the menu) to ex.
"home" or "about me", though it doesn't work! I can't link the
buttons because they're in this flash object. I know i'm doing it
wrong with trying to link the buttons on the flash object but I
don't know what else to do. And the thing is that i don't wanna use
the buttons already existing in DW, i've made my own ones. The
buttons are moving so there is one more problem, they're coming in
from the right side (in the left frame) and bounces once, and then
they stop. And that's when I wan't them clickable. So how do I make
the buttons linking to the pages??
Would really appreciate an awnser!

Flash links are made in Flash, not DW.

Links or buttons do not respond in Firefox but do respond in Internet Explorer

Sometimes and increasingly more often, links or buttons do not respond in Firefox, no new tab opens just nothing happens. But in Internet Explorer, the links or buttons respond normally and everything runs smoothly.
What is the cause then ?

I have provided link in the body of the mail.
As per the requirement, the same needs to be given as button.
Can anyone tell me how to give a link as button in the outgoing mail.

I think this is a difficult one. Maybe you can add an image which looks like a button and place that in your mail.
Insert in the body of the mail the html code <img border="0" src="button.gif" width="65" height="38">.
Don't know if it works but give it a try.

How do you link a button to a image on the same page?

I created a photoshop button and pulled it into my Muse website, and I want to link it to an image on the same page. I have a slide show set up, and this way I could have a secondary menu with buttons corresponding to each image in the slideshow. I can only find the option to link the button to another page, or link it to an external website. Help!

So in this case, In slideshows, the links are actually get applied on Hero image or on the slideshow containers.

None of the links or buttons do not works after change the name of the page

I made some modifications on the original page and changed its orijinal name LoaSummaryPG to XXLoaSummaryPG. Although all of the components are the same as the orijinal one, none of the links and buttons are not working in the newly copied page. Neither only changing the name LoaSummaryPG to XXLoaSummaryPG nor creating a new page with a name XXLoaSummaryPG did not work.
A page works with no error and the data shown is correct when it opened.
Is it about regionMap.xml? or what can i do?

I can't make any other action in the page. Now, I can only say that al actions in the page except about this page link and personalization link cause this error.

Linking menu buttons to pages for an Android app

Hi all. Ok im a bit of a rookie when it comes to flash but here is my dilema. I want to link a button on my main page, to another page with info on it.
For example: my main page has the buttons" PS3"... "Xbox 360"...."P.C" I want each of these buttons to link to an alphabetical list, ie: A-Z. And id like to be able to do this without the need for an internet connection. I have tried googling it but i could not find an answer to this. If anyone has any suggestions it would be great.

You'll need to be sure to include stop() commands in each scene. I recommend you just get away from using scenes at all... they are problematic when you try to mox them with navigation. Just place your pages in different frames of the same timelines or just have them as movieclips that you control them being shown (or a little of both).
AS far as the flickering from scene to scene goes, that's most often an indication that you have coding errors. Do you get any kind of coding error messages?
This is a weak spot for me because I have not developed apps for mobile devices. Because support for developing apps is a recent feature of Flash, I think that you can't use AS2 to do that. The on(release) code you say you are using is AS2. I have to believe that you need to use AS3 to be programming for an app, though I might be entirely wrong in thinking that.

Is there a way to link state buttons?

Hi, I'd like to know if there's a way to link state buttons to activate their hover state together. For instance, when the link 'Pioneers of Design' is hovered over it turns red and links to another page. The yellow image loses the 25% white opaque screen on it when it's in hover state and also links to the same page. Both are in separate state buttons. Is there a way to link the two so that when I hover over the image the screen disappears but also turns the pioneers link red at the same time and vice versa when hovering over the pioneers link? I know both can be put into a state button together but that means that the massive space in between the image and text would create the hover state as apposed to only occurring when hovering over one or the other. Also, I don't know what would happen to this because the text links stay fixed when scrolling and the image links do not. Is there a way to do what I'm talking about? Thanks.

There's no built-in way to do disjointed rollovers, but if you look it up on the web, you should be able to understand how the respective CSS rules work and implement them as custom HTML or after publishing the site.

hi all i m new here and new to flash
i m building a website and lately i am facing a lil problem
i have placed a button from windows--->components---->button
with movie type button property
now the issue is i am unable to link that to a pdf file
i want that button to open a pdf file.
and how do i do that.
help on that would b really appreciated

i finally wrote the script in a new frame
and it works (hurray...!)
but.... but.... :-(
if i hav to make another button of same properties
and i want it to open another pdf file than how do i go about it
what i did , created a new button gave it a new instance name( obviously) named b22
and pasted the same script as NED mentioned but than my output file doesnt work
infact my whole output file goes into a loop where all the pages that i have made in the movie
loop about, the error it gives is
1021: Duplicate function definition.
but it works fine if i have one button that opens a pdf file
tried another thing thought i would link the button to a docx file that is a word file
but than again i was looking for code,
so i modified the code a bit as NED posted (sounds a lil funny ..)
