SQL Anywhere Migration Tool

Does anyone know of an expected time frame for Migrating from SQL Anywhere to 8i?

Hello
Seems like a bug in SQL Developer that it is not picking up the scale. Will notify the appropriate group for a fix. NUMBER(x,y) is a valid representation in Oracle. Can you check to see what the default mapping is in SQL Developer before the conversion process begins?. If it shows up as NUMBER(x) then change it to NUMBER(x,y).
In the meanwhile iyou can fix the DDL before generating the schema in Oracle.

  • SQL Developer migration tool

Does anyone have any experience migrating just one schema from MySQL to Oracle?
I've specified my database that I want the migration tool to use when I do the migration, but it goes ahead and tries to grab every single function, procedure, table for every single user in the database.
I'm basically trying to migrate a customers' mysql dataset to our oracle db.
    Any thoughts?
    Thanks in advance all!

    Patrick,
did you already read the Oracle® Database SQL Developer Supplementary Information for MySQL Migrations manual, available at:
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E12151_01/doc.150/e12155/toc.htm
The chapter 2.2 is dealing with schema migrations. Perhaps that is useful for you. If there is going something wrong for you and different as described in that manual then please let me know more details.
    Best regards

    Hello,
I get the same error after updating through Help->Check for Updates. I am at version 1.1.2.25 and the update does not change the version number of Oracle SQL Developer (Help->About), it remains at 1.1.2.25 (although if I look in extensions tab, it says: oracle.sqldeveloper 1.1.3.27.66 Loaded, possible bug in displaying version number?). These are the updates applied:
    Upgraded Extensions
Oracle Microsoft Access Browser version 1.1.3.27.66
Oracle SQL Developer - Snippet version 10.1.3.27.66
    Oracle SQL Developer version 1.1.3.27.66
Oracle SQL Developer - Reports version 10.1.3.27.66
Oracle SQL Server Browser version 1.1.3.27.66
    Oracle MySQL Browser version 1.1.3.27.66
Oracle SQL Developer - Worksheet version 10.1.3.27.66
Oracle SQL Developer - Extras version 1.1.3.27.66
Oracle SQL Developer - SearchBar version 10.1.3.27.66
Oracle SQL Developer - Object Viewer version 10.1.3.27.66
I ran the update several times and was able to reproduce the error under a specific condition. If I am connected to a database at the time of the update I get the error. If I am not conneceted at the time of the update I do not get the error.
As stated, by Donal, sql developer seems to get over the problem after restarting itself twice.

  • SQL Anywhere Monitoring Tool

Hi, what is the difference between "Monitoring Tool (Development and testing)"
and "Monitoring Tool (Deployment)"? I cannot find it enywhere.
    thanks

    Hi Miroslav,
The SQL Anywhere Monitor is a stand-alone product that is separately licensed from SQL Anywhere. The version included with SQL Anywhere is the Development version, which is intended for you to try out the product and see if it useful for your purposes.
The full version has the following features, listed in the documentation: http://dcx.sap.com/index.html#sa160/en/dbadmin/da-server-monitoring-s-5157863.html
If you do find that the utility is useful, you should purchase a full license for your production deployments.

  • Migration Verifier Tool for SQL Developer Migrations?

    Hi all,
The old Migration Workbench has an optional add on verification tool to verify migrations to Oracle.
I am looking for a similar migration verifier tool for the SQL Developer migration process.
Does one currently exist for SQL Developer migration tools?
    Regards,
    Ben Prusinski

    Hi Ben,
The old migration verifier seems to be at:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/tech/migration//dmv/index.html
Sue Harper (Product Manager) would be the person to comment further probably through SQLDeveloper statement of direction:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/database/sql_developer/files/sqldeveloperstatementofdirection.htm
I do not see anything there.
There is a tools->database diff wizard which I have not looked into in detail and I doubt that applies for migrations.

  • ODBC Error when migrating from SQL Server 2008 to SQL Anywhere 12

    Hello community,
    i have the following requirement:
I need to migrate a Database with some Demo data into a SQL Anywhere 12 Database. The SQL Anywhere 12 Database is part of the SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 3.1 SP7 installation and came with the same as OEM Product.
The Environment looks like the following:
    DB1 is a MS SQL Server 2008 R2 64 Bit running on Windows Server 2008 R2 64 Bit.
DB2 is the SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 3.1 SP7 installation with the shipped SQL Anywhere 12 (12.0.1.3873) Database running on SLES 11.3 64 Bit
CL1 is my Windows 7 64 Bit Client where Sybase Central is installed in 64 Bit. On CL1 i have a 64 Bit System ODBC Connection connecting to DB1 successfully.
Basically i followed the following (pretty straight forward) tutorial:
Migrating a SQL Server Database to SQL Anywhere White Paper-Technical: Mobile Enterprise, Database Management iAnywhere …
When i want to test the connection from inside Sybase Central (During the migration process) i receive the following error:
From inside Sybase Central my connection looks as follows:
And from the ODBC Manager the connection looks as follows:
Personally i found is strange that the Sybase ODBC Driver Manager drops the error. I would expect that the MS SQL ODBC Driver Manager pops the error it its related to the ODBC DSN to DB1.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks and Regards
    -Seb.

    Hi Sebastian,
The data from the SQL Server database must be migrated to an existing SQL Anywhere database.  Could you please tell me where this SQL Anywhere database resides and how are you connecting to it?
The error message is saying that the connection to the SQL Anywhere remote database server is failing, as opposed to the connection to the SQL Server database.

  • Congrats to the Sql Developer Team! The Migration tool is SUPER

Just wanted to say "thank-you" for such a great tool. Last week, I was fighting a third party software / MS SQL 2000 database. Finally enough was enough, boot up Sql-Dev, migrated everything from MS SQL to oracle...extracted the data....baba boom baba bing..boss is happy!
    Keep up the great work!

I know that the Spatial and Graph folks have an updated extension in the works for SQL Developer, but I can't speak about particular changes or updates. You could cross post to the Spatial forum as well
    Spatial
As per your request for 'shared queries' for your students - I think that's a request independent of our Spatial support, yes?
Could you elaborate a bit on exactly what you'd like to see here?
Our Reports feature has a 'Shared Reports' interface that might get you what you want. There's also Code Templates and Code Snippets as well...

  • Issue with SQL converter: Query Migration Tool for Microsoft SQL Server to SAP HANA

    Hello,
    I found the following blog : http://scn.sap.com/community/business-one/blog/2013/04/10/how-to-convert-sql-from-ms-sql-server-to-sap-hana
I am trying out this migration tool for converting my MS SQL queries to HANA.
I am running into issue while converting certain queries.
The issue is specific to "set" commands which set local variables inside "create procedure" commands.
    e.g.
    a standalone set command:
SET @var = (SELECT TOP 1 name FROM mytable ORDER BY name)
    is converted well:
    SELECT (SELECT TOP 1 "name" FROM "mytable" ORDER BY "name") INTO var FROM DUMMY;
But when the same is part of create procedure:
    CREATE PROCEDURE [dbx].[XXXXX_YYYY_ZZZZ]
    AS
SET @var = (SELECT TOP 1 name FROM mytable ORDER BY name)
it fails in converting the same:
--Statements in the input file contain errors; conversion was canceled
I would like to understand who can help me here.
    Thanks...

    Hi Mayur,
that tool cannot convert stored procedures. it is still being developed. For these you have to do it manually.

  • Oracle 9i Migration Tool for PL/SQL

i tried to migrate the plsql code of my 6i forms to 9i via the oracle migration tool ifplsqlconv90 and always get the following error:
"subclassed module could not be found....."
although I have put the forms, that have been subclassed from, in the same directory.
is it the case, that the tool does not work at all for forms that have subclassed items?
    thanks for your answer

tried to search within the files in the migration utility directory, but no success.

Also, does anyone know how to determine the location (full path) of the unixODBC driver manager ?
    Please assist if you can...thx.
    Edited by: user601798 on Oct 15, 2012 3:37 PM

Let me start with the unixODBC driver:
There's no generic location as it depends which package you've used to install the UnixODBC driver manager or how you compiled it from scratch. I commonly prefer to compile it from scratch as this offers me to install it to any location I like.
If you're not sure where it is located, you could perform a search on your machine looking for libodbc.so. Then cross check it with "file <location>/libodbc.so" to see the lib is a 64bit library.
So let's assume in the /usr/lib64 you found the libodbc.so library, then the setting
    HS_FDS_SHAREABLE_NAME=/usr/lib64/libodbc.so
is correct. Else you need to adopt the parameter.
Next step is to check out which unixODBC version is installed. That's commonly done by calling "odbcinst -j".
Looking now ta the gateway init file there's a parameter HS_NLS_NCHAR set to UTF-8. UnixODBC is commonly compiled with UCS2 support, so please change it to HS_NLS_NCHAR=UCS2
Could you also please post the content of the odbc.ini file "more /etc/odbc.ini"?
    Thanks,
    Klaus

  • SQL Anywhere 11 on Ubuntu / PHP

    Hi there,
I have been trying (with no success) to connnect our PHP app to Sybase database.
    Our actual scenario is:
    Windows2003/ ODBC {SQL Anywhere 11 Driver} / PHP ------> Windows2008 / Sybase
We are to migrate our PHP:
    Linux Ubuntu Server / UnixOBC {SQL Anywhere 11 ODBC Driver} / PHP -------> Windows2008 / Sybase
In the migration process I configured FreeTDS trying somethink like:
    /etc/fretds/freetds.conf
    [global]
        tds version = 4.2
        dump file = /tmp/freetds.log
    ;    debug flags = 0xffff
    ;    timeout = 10
    ;    connect timeout = 10
        text size = 64512

Can anyone help?. Thank you in advance.
    Marinho.

    Hi Marinho,
SQL Anywhere does not support FreeTDS. SQL Anywhere does support Open Client and jConnect connections over TDS.
The sybase_* functions pre-built with PHP are for (Sybase) Adaptive Server Enterprise (ASE), not SQL Anywhere - they are separate products.
Is there a particular reason you're not using the SQL Anywhere PHP module ( http://scn.sap.com/docs/DOC-40537 ), with the sasql_* functions that are intended for use with SQL Anywhere?

  • Oracle SQL Developer vs Oracle SQL Developer Migration Workbench

    Gurus,
Can anybody let me know what's the difference between Oracle SQL Developer vs Oracle SQL Developer Migration Workbench tools.
I am in the process of Migrating MS-Access Application to APEX. So the example says me to use Oracle SQL Developer Migration Workbench. Is this part of Oracle SQL Developer? If yes, I know SQL Developer is free.
If not is Oracle SQL Developer Migration Workbench if free?
    Thanks and Regards

    Thank Oracle ;)
(well, it's the least they can do after you paid big $$$ for the database)
    Regards,

  • SQL Developer Migation Tool - formating generated SQL

I am using SQL Developer version 2.1.1.64 to migrate MS SQL server to ORACLE via the Migration tool.
My question is : Is there a way to format the generated ORACLE code?
The reason I ask, our developmet team has coding standards for creating procedures. For example, use TABs for identation, not spaces.
I changed the profiles under the SQL formatted (Tools>Preferences>Database>SQL Formatter>ORACLE Formatting) but it does not seam to affect the generation output.
The code is always generated using spaces.

Ctrl-shift-f7 invokes the formatter. This can be defaulted to your standards by choosing them from the preferences.
