Sql Developer 1.1 is bundled in Oracle 11g

Dear,
The Oracle 11g is bundled with SQL Developer 1.1. I could install Sql Developer 1.5 in the same machine. But two Sql developers 1.1 and 1.5 are there eating the disk space. How to uninstall only the SQL developer 1.1 which bundled with Oracle11g. I am not able to do with Universal uninstaller.
-mathews

Just delete the installation folder...
Have fun,
K.

  • SQL Developer 4.0.0.13 and Oracle Cloud DB. Cart Access Issue (Unable to deploy in cloud).

    Hello,
I asked for a trial account on 04/02 (this year) of the Oracle Cloud. I've been able to create a Cloud Connection in SQL Developer (I'm able to login with my oracle email with the "Service Instance URL"). I am able to see the 11 example tables (DEPT, EMP, and 9 DEMO_X tables).
    My data:
    SQL Developer 4.0.0.13
DataCenter: US Commercial 2 (US Commercial - Chicago). I'm settled in México, at this moment I don't remember to have selected some DataCenter, but I got that one.
Domain SFTP Host & Port: sftp.us2.cloud.oracle.com:22
Domain SFTP User Name: USdddddd (changed here for example reasons)
Service SFTP Host & Port: sftp.us2.cloud.oracle.com:22
Service SFTP User Name: USssssss (changed here for example reasons)
My problem. I cannot deploy on the cloud (via the Cart tool on SQL Developer).
In chat support, I was told to check this site (1) Data Loading and the Oracle Database Cloud Service. It seems the steps are the same of this site (2) that I was following before Creating and Deploying JSF/JPA Applications to Oracle Cloud.
My scenario is not according the tutorial. According to (1), the tutorial highlights the use of the user detailed as "Service SFTP User Name" (USssssss). The site says that if I click on that user, I should be able to reset its password on SFTP users. BUT, this user (USssssss, Service SFTP User Name) is NOT shown as it is explained, the user that is shown there is the one under "Domain SFTP information" (USdddddd, that is, the user that I should NOT use, according to that webpage).
My user Service SFTP User is not shown in Security-SFTP Users. When I click the user name (USssssss), the site takes you to the Security tab, and SFTP Users sub tab. I notice that my Service SFTP User Name (USssssss) appears in Security tab, but it appears under "Users" sub tab, NOT on "SFTP Users" sub tab. Also, if I try to reset the Service SFTP User password (in Users sub tab), the site says "Oracle Cloud will send an email with a temporary password to USssssss USssssss." It does not ask me to write the new password (SFTP Users sub tab works fine, asking me a password for USdddddd).
Anyway, in SQL Developer, I made several tests in the Cart, testing either the Service and also the Domain users, port 22 and 2222. None of them worked. The message I get is:
Unable to connect to sftp server with provided details.
I've also tried to access the sftp url with Putty, PSFTP, and Filezilla. From those three apps, the sftp url gives me timeout (either on port 22, or 2222). But if ping that url, I got a response back.
So I'm not sure where is the problem. Is it the url? Is it the port? Is it the Service SFTP User? All of them?
    Any comment, is very welcome.
P.S. It will be nice to have a "posted date" for each tutorial and perhaps identify the Cloud version that is being explained (the Oracle cloud is growing fast, perhaps the tutorials will be deprecated soon).

    Hi Gustavo,
It appears your Service SFTP user was not created correctly. Please contact support and mention the fact that your Service SFTP user appears on Security/Users tab and not on Security/SFTP Users tab.

  • Problems using Quick Migrate in SQL Developer 1.5 for MySQL to Oracle 10g

    Hi all,
I am trying to use SQL Developer 1.5 migration tools (Quick Migrate) to perform online capture and build source model to migrate from MySQL 5.x to Oracle 10g on Windows platform. I get these errors and the Quick Migrate process fails:
    oracle.dbtools.metadata.persistence.PersistableObject.doInsert(PersistableObject.java:238)
I did a search and used the sqldeveloper.cmd script but still fails. Then I created a new database and truncated the repository. I now get the above error plus two new ones listed below:
    oracle.jdbc.driver.DatabaseError.throwSqlException(DatabaseError.java:112)
Error loading nls:OALL8 is in an inconsistent state
Error occurred during capture: Protocol violation
It fails during the capture process for MySQL 5.1 database
when it begins to capture the tables from MySQL.
Does anyone know how to resolve these issues when migrating from MySQL to Oracle 10g using Quick Migrate with SQL Developer 1.5 release?

    Hi all,
I put the following in my sqldeveloper.cmd file:
    SET ORACLE_HOME=%CD%
What is very confusing is that with SQL Developer 1.5, there are several levels and several SQL Developer executables! I am really not sure which of these to use:
I created the SQLDeveloper 1.5 directory called SQLDeveloper1_5 on Windows:
    1) cd C:\sqldeveloper1_5\sqldeveloper-5338
    there exists a sqldeveloper.exe
    2) cd c:\sqldeveloper1_5\sqldeveloper-5338\sqldeveloper\sqldeveloper.exe
    3) cd c:\sqldeveloper1_5\sqldeveloper-5338\sqldeveloper\sqldeveloer\bin\sqldeveloper.exe
Which SQLDeveloper 1.5 executable should I be using and where should I place the
    sqldeveloper.cmd file?
Also I did try to use a different database and schema for the repository with Quick Migrate but it appears a bug exists in SQL Developer 1.5 version that causes errors with Quick Migrate for MySQL to Oracle? Is this correct?
As an update, I ran the following commands:
    cd to
    c:\sqldeveloper1_5\sqldeveloper-5338\sqldeveloper\sqldeveloper\bin
    sqldeveloper.cmd sqldeveloper.exe
    Start sqldeveloper.exe
Perform standard capture for MySQL using the new mig2 schema as the new repository
It starts the capture but fails on the errors below:
Error loading nls:OALL8 is in an inconsistent state
    UPDATE
    ============================
I tried this again and it worked with the exception of one error message listed below:
Here are the steps that I followed:
    1. Create a Windows cmd script
Put the following entries in the script:
    SET ORACLE_HOME=%CD%
save the command windows script as sqldeveloper.cmd
Copy this script to the base installation directory for SQLDeveloper
    Example:
    1. cd c:\SQLDeveloper1_5\sqldeveloper-5338\sqldeveloper
    2. Start SQLDeveloper with the command script that you created earlier
    Example:
Open a Windows shell prompt window and execute the following scripts:
    a) sqldeveloper.cmd sqldeveloper.exe
    b) sqldeveloper.exe
    3) In SQL Developer 1.5
    From the Migrate menu,
    a) Delete current repository and create a new schema in Oracle target database call it mig2.
    b) Then create a new repository in SQL Developer 1.5
    c) Right mouse click on the MySQL 5.x database and choose capture
It worked with the exception of one error message:
    o.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver
Error while registering Oracle JDBC Diagnosability MBean.
So it looks like something is screwed up with my JDBC drivers and configuration for MySQL. How do I diagnose the JDBC driver issue for MySQL?
    Thanks!!!
    Ben

  • Upraded Sql Developer and can't connect to Oracle

I just updated to the Dec 2009 release and now I can't connect
When I click the plus or right click on Connections and select "New Connection" nothing happens.
If I monitor processes in task manager it shows a brief spike in cpus and a small increase in memory usage but nothing happens in the app.
I also noticed that when I close the application it does not leave memory. I have to kill the process via the task manager to get rid of it.
If I go back to version 1.5.1 it works fine. It also leaves memory when terminated
    Using winxp r3.

    what should i do ?
    please help me

so, canot use dev 6i?I'm afraid you can't. Not certified doesn't necessarily mean it won't work, but if you have problems, you're on your own...
Of course you have two solutions : use 10g DB, or upgrade your forms to 10g. What's the problem for the latter ?

ok, but how i found the listener o the tsnames, because i searching in all disk (c) but i dont found them, or how i can turn on the listener o whe is the directory when i put the files, because the installation dont have the /network/adm for put the files
Edited by: user13373417 on 07-Jul-2010 09:06It appears you don't have a very clear understanding of how the client and the server are configured to communicate with one another.
    ============
    A couple of important points.
First, the listener is a server side only process. It's entire purpose in life is to receive requests for connections to databases and set up those connections. Once the connection is established, the listener is out of the picture. It creates the connection. It doesn't sustain the connection. One listener, running from one oracle home, listening on a single port, will serve multiple database instances of multiple versions running from multiple homes. It is an unnecessary complexity to try to have multiple listeners. That would be like the telephone company building a separate switchboard for each customer.
Second, the tnsnames.ora file is a client side issue. It's purpose is for address resolution - the tns equivalent of the 'hosts' file further down the network stack. The only reason it exists on a host machine is because that machine can also run client processes.
Assume you have the following in your tnsnames.ora:
    larry =
      (DESCRIPTION =
        (ADDRESS_LIST =
          (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = myhost)(PORT = 1521))
        (CONNECT_DATA =
          (SERVICE_NAME = curley)
)Now, when you issue a connect, say like this:
$> sqlplus scott/tiger@larrytns will look in your tnsnames.ora for an entry called 'larry'. Next, tns sends a request to (PORT = 1521) on (HOST = myhost) using (PROTOCOL = TCP), asking for a connection to (SERVICE_NAME = curley).
Where is (HOST = myhost) on the network? When the request gets passed from tns to the next layer in the network stack, the name 'myhost' will get resolved to an IP address, either via a local 'hosts' file, via DNS, or possibly other less used mechanisms. You can also hard-code the ip address (HOST = 123.456.789.101) in the tnsnames.ora.
Next, the request arrives at port 1521 on myhost. Hopefully, there is a listener on myhost configured to listen on port 1521, and that listener knows about SERVICE_NAME = curley. If so, you'll be connected.
    What can go wrong?
First, there may not be an entry for 'larry' in your tnsnames. In that case you get "ORA-12154: TNS:could not resolve the connect identifier specified" No need to go looking for a problem on the host, with the listener, etc. If you can't place a telephone call because you don't know the number (can't find your telephone directory (tnsnames.ora) or can't find the party you are looking for listed in it (no entry for larry)) you don't look for problems at the telephone switchboard.
Maybe the entry for larry was found, but myhost couldn't be resolved to an IP address (say there was no entry for myhost in the local hosts file). This will result in "ORA-12545: Connect failed because target host or object does not exist"
Maybe there was an entry for myserver in the local hosts file, but it specified a bad IP address. This will result in "ORA-12545: Connect failed because target host or object does not exist"
Maybe the IP was good, but there is no listener running: "ORA-12541: TNS:no listener"
Maybe the IP was good, there is a listener at myhost, but it is listening on a different port. "ORA-12560: TNS:protocol adapter error"
Maybe the IP was good, there is a listener at myhost, it is listening on the specified port, but doesn't know about SERVICE_NAME = curley. "ORA-12514: TNS:listener does not currently know of service requested in connect descriptor"

Hi there, Have you fixed this issue?
I'm having the same issue albeit with SQL Developer VERSION 1.5.5
The Select stmt displays the the empty square boxes in the result window, I've set the encoding preferences to UTF8 in the menu and font to Arial Unicode (there is no option to set script to Japanese). How can i display japanese characters in the results window??
When i export these empty square boxes in the result window to notepad (where encoding set to Unicode and Font set to Arial Unicode and Script to Japanese), the japanese value is displayed correctly in the notepad.
    Kindly provide some input

    HI, Welcome to OTN form,
SHUTDOWN is not a SQL statement but a SQL*Plus command . You cannot use SHUTDOWN in PL/SQL.

  • Can i run all the SQL And PL/SQL in Oracle SQL Developer?

    hi all
I have heard that Oracle Sql Developer is a free editor for Oracle DB from Oracle.
Is it possible to run all the the procedres and functions in that editor
is there any limitation for that ,can i run all the things that we can run on the SQL Plus
if anybody knows please let me know
    thanks & regards

    Interesting way of putting it.
When it comes to SQL and PL/SQL, SQLPlus and SQL Developer do not really 'run' very much.
Most of the time, these things are just shells that pass the SQL and PL/SQL requests to the appropriate engine (database) which will run the command.
    The challenges are:
    - will the shell interpret the request as something to pass to an engine?
    - will the shell display the response from the engine appropriately?
For answers to those questions, TongucY provided approriate links.

  • Creating A New Oracle Database And Sql Developer

    Hi,

I have downloaded sql developer, the data modeler, and the Oracle Client. Could someone please provide some guidance on how to create a Oracle Database?
From the responses, it appears that none of the items I mentioned actually creates a database. Sql Server provides a free download, also a developer version for a minimal fee. What specific Oracle product would be best to provide this type of service?

Edited by: user8948230 on Jan 7, 2010 9:50 AMIn addition to downloading and installing the database software to create a database, might I also suggest you start getting familiar with the documentation.
Learning where to look things up in the documentation is time well spent investing in your career. To that end, you should drop everything else you are doing and do the following:
Go to tahiti.oracle.com. Drill down to your product and version.
Spend a few minutes just getting familiar with what is available here. Take special note of the "books" and "search" tabs. Under the "books" tab you will find the complete documentation library.
Spend a few minutes just getting familiar with what kind of documentation is available there by simply browsing the titles under the "Books" tab.
Open the Reference Manual and spend a few minutes looking through the table of contents to get familiar with what kind of information is available there.
Do the same with the SQL Reference Manual.
Do the same with the Utilities manual.
You don't have to read the above in depth. They are reference manuals. Just get familiar with what is there to be referenced. Ninety percent of the questions asked on this forum can be answered in less than 5 minutes by simply searching one of the above manuals.
After you have familiarized yourself with what is available, read the "2-Day DBA" manual to help get you started.
Then set yourself a plan to dig deeper.
    - Read a chapter a day from the Concepts Manual.
