Sql developer 3.0.02 create unit_test_repos cannot log in

I create a user like the way of "Performing a Unit Test of Your PL/SQL in Oracle SQL Developer 2.1" (http://st-curriculum.oracle.com/obe/db/11g/r2/prod/appdev/sqldev/sqldev_unit_test/sqldev_unit_test_otn.htm), but cannot log in, when test it says"Ora-01017 invalid username/password;log defined".
but I use the same way in Sql developer 2.1, the connection was created successfully.
I create the user use 3.0.02 again, and connect use 2.1 it still this error:"Ora-01017 invalid username/password;log defined";
I create the user use 2.1 again, and connect use 2.1 or 3.0.02, it's OK.

Hello Jiri!
this is because of SQL Developer does not support "order by" over external tables.
In general it is not disabled in SQL developer to use it for external tables but due to unknown reason execution of select including "order by" clause over external table generates ORA-00600 error.
SQL Developer is saving all used "order by", "filter" settings (and many others) to special cache (user specific XML file) and this setting is used next time you open specific object - table.
It means when you apply "sorting" on external table
- oracle generates ORA-00600
- used "order by" is stored by SQL Developer into cahce XML file
- ...and you cannot open this table from your SQL developer anymore
How to correct it:
- go to SQL developer cache folder (something like C:\Documents and Settings\[username]\Application Data\SQL Developer)
- try to find file "*GridSettings.xml" which contains this bad cache information
there are usually tons of GridSettings.xml files
-1134293461GridSettings.xml
-1134293492GridSettings.xml
-1134293523GridSettings.xml
you have to find file which contains your specific extenal table name like...
<uniqueName>SELECT * FROM "SCHEMANAME"."EXTERNAL_TABLE"</uniqueName>
- find "sortClauses" tag
<sortClauses>
<Item class="java.lang.String">3 asc</Item>
<Item/>
</sortClauses>
- you can now edit/correct content of this file/tag or just delete it completely
- or you can easily delete complete cache folder - BUT in this case all specific user setting can be deleted!!!
- then your table is accessible again :-)

Radim

  • SQL Developer 3.0 EA1 creates case senstive account names

    Hi,
    When creating a new account with SQL Developer 3.0 EA1, the user name is enclosed in quotes. This creates a case sensitive account name which creates problems when trying to sign. Historically account names have been converted to uppercase internally and during the logon sequence this is expected behavior. Not sure why the SQL Developer 3.0 EA1 team has chosen to start encapsulating usernames during creation in quotes?
    Example of create user statement from 2.0
    -- USER SQL
    CREATE USER why_this_old_way IDENTIFIED BY scott ;
    -- ROLES
    GRANT "RESOURCE" TO why_this_old_way ;
    GRANT "CONNECT" TO why_this_old_way ;
    Example of create user statement from 3.0 EA1.
    -- USER SQL
    CREATE USER "why_this_new_way" IDENTIFIED BY scott ;
    -- ROLES
    GRANT "RESOURCE" TO "why_this_new_way" ;
    GRANT "CONNECT" TO "why_this_new_way" ;
    Having case sensitive object names greatly increases the complexity unnecessarily, please don't implement this approach.
    Scott K.

    Please tell me how you accessed the create user UI. Is this new "functionality" occurring from the DBA Navigator?
    It's looking like it changed in both dialogs to me are you seeing the same thing? I'll dig in and see why this was changed.
    Thanks,
    Syme

  • SQL Developer Keep-Alive Extension Created!

    Hi All,
    I have created a keep-alive extension for SQL Developer as I have always wanted to prevent my connections from timing out. Hope this will become handy to some of you. The download file and instructions are hosted on Google Sites.
    https://sites.google.com/site/keepaliveext/
    Cheers,
    MinChen

    Hi Everyone,
    Lately I have been getting questions on whether the extension is secure enough to be used as more often than not, a database would definitely contain confidential or sensitive information hence it is absolutely crucial that security is maintained and running external extensions does not seem reassuring. Here, I would like to write a bit on how to ensure that security is maintained when running third party extensions for SQL Developer.
    The most secure approach is to scrutinize the source code of the extensions themselves if it is made available at all. If no source code is available, then it would take a different approach which is far more complex and won't to be covered here. Fortunately, extensions for SQL Developer are developed using Java and the beauty of it is that one could easily decompile the classes back into the source code. From there onwards, scrutinize the code thoroughly to ensure there is no rogue logic or any function that would "phone home" for whatever reason other than to check for updates. By practicing self code scrutiny, it would be the most reassuring. As I myself am every bit concerned about security, I do tend to extract out the source code of all the Firefox extensions I use and do a quick glance. ;)
    With this, I hope more people will embrace the extensibility of SQL Developer and create more extensions for the community. SQL Developer is a great application and thanks to the team who created it and made it available at zero charge. :D
    Cheers,
    Min Chen
    P.S. You can decompile Java classes using the free tool called JD-Gui which can be found at
    [http://java.decompiler.free.fr/?q=jdgui]

  • SQL Developer 3.1 EA3:   ORA-01446: cannot select ROWID . . .

    I'm running into a problem in 3.1 EA3 that I did not see in 3.0 (Oracle IDE     3.0.04.34). Both Installations are 64 bit using 64 bit Java under Windows 7 x64 SP1.
    When from either the "Connections" or "Schema" window I open some views and select the "Data" tab I the following messages:
    ORA-01446: cannot select ROWID from, or sample, a view with DISTINCT, GROUP BY, etc.
    ORA-02063: preceding line from HSDEVL
    twice. Other views give:
    ORA-01445: cannot select ROWID from, or sample, a join view without a key-preserved table
    ORA-02063: preceding line from HSDEVL
    All views that show the error retrieve the data via a dblink to another oracle instance, although not all views using the dblink show an error.
    Has anyone else seen this change? Is there anything I can do to get it fixed.
    Thanks.

    I'm having the same issue. The issues seems to also exist in the newly release 3.1.
    Yes it seems to be related to the instead of trigger.
    Is this a known bug?
    Here is a testcase to reproduce the issue.
    create table mytab as select * from tab;
    create table myobjects as select * from user_objects;
    create or replace view test_view as
    select myobjects.object_id, mytab.tname, mytab.tabtype from mytab, myobjects where mytab.tname=myobjects.object_name group by myobjects.object_id, mytab.tname, mytab.tabtype;
    create or replace trigger io_test_view_trg
    INSTEAD OF INSERT or UPDATE or DELETE
    ON test_view
    FOR EACH ROW

  • Home directory is not created and cannot log from client computer

    I am trying to set up MacOsX server. I already have another server which is my DNS server. I am trying to create an Open Directory Master server.
    Server was updated to 10.4.8 MacOsX from the beginning of existence.
    I created couple of users in Open directory domain for testing purposes.
    So, the first problem is, that when I am trying to create a user home directory server does not create it and does not give any errors about that. I tried in bash createhomedir utility, it did not work either, again, no error messages.
    Another problem:
    I set up Open Directory master with LDAP. It was set up correctly, no error messages. At least I did not see any.
    The I tried to connect to the server from my client iMac computer which has 10.4.8 MacOsX as well. So I set up LDAP there in Directory services, it was able to find my server and bind to it. Then when I am trying to login with username and password in Open Directory on the server, it does nor recognize it. No error messages in logs as well.
    However, if I am trying to use ssh from client machine to connect to Server using the names which are in Open Directory on the server it allows me to do so. But of course it says no home directory defined.
    Than you very much for responce!

    An Open Directory Master requires DNS running somewhere. You could have a scenario involving 4 servers where: DNS is provided by Server A, Server B is a Web & Mail Server, Server C providing FTP Services and Server D providing LDAP services with managed preferences and automounting Home Directories (ODM). In this scenario DNS is provide by Server A and any other server requiring DNS using Server A’s DNS. You could expand this scenario if you wanted and have replica (fallover) servers for Servers A, B C or D, or if you are the frugal sort just one replica server replicating the 4 primary servers. You can do all of this pretty much in 10.4 GUI with some additional configuration using Terminal

    Hi Frank
    This message means that the driver code is unable to locate a DLL to load up and use. Looking at the message I suspect that the DLL in question <jtds-dist>\SSO\ntlmauth.dll .
    There are a couple of ways of making the Java VM locate the DLL, assuming you are using windows then the easiest would be to add the directory <jtds-dist>\SSO to you path environment (replacing <jtds-dist> with the actual path to your JTDS distribution).

  • Password change fails in SQL Developer with verify function...

    A couple of months ago I enforced a password verify function on our 11.2.0.3 databases and also one legacy 10.2.0.4 database.
    At the time I tested on my account (which had elevated privileges...doh!).   Now some users are hitting expiry, they can't change it via SQL Developer.
    If I create a user with 'create session' privilege and set their profile to one that uses the verify function (see both below), I then log in to SQL Developer (we have tried with versions 3.1 (Windows) and 3.2 (Linux) with same failure results.
    BTW,.. the password verify function enforces the following:
    password must be minimum of 8 characters
    password must not be the same as the user name, or user name (1-100)
    password must contain at least a single digit
    password must contain at least a single character
    1. Works = I log into the local server and run command line SQLPlus, type 'password' and update.   I can successfully change my password.
    2. Fails = I log into the local server and run command line SQLPlus, type 'alter user <me> identified by <newpwd>;' I get:
    TEST: SUTEMP > alter user sutemp identified by carport9999;
    alter user sutemp identified by carport9999
    ERROR at line 1:
    ORA-28221: REPLACE not specified
    This error is because the account does not have the 'alter user' privilege.   I'm okay with this, as I don't want our users having this privilege.
    3. I start SQL Developer 3.2, type 'alter user <me> identified by <newpwd>;' I get the same ORA-28221 error as above.   That is fine, and as expected.
    4. Now in SQL Developer, I type 'password', set a valid password, but I get 'Failed to change password' in the Script Output tab.
    I have a database 'after servererror on database' trigger set, and querying the database table it is logging into, I see a record with a date stamp matching my failure with a server_error=28221 (the same as above).
    So I'm wondering if I'm doing something wrong here, or if this is a bug in SQL Developer.   I don't want standard users having 'alter user' privileges, but I do want to enforce password verification.
    I get the same result on three 11.2.0.3 databases (haven't tried any more but suspect same results for others) and one legacy 10.2.0.4 database, and using SQL Developer 3.1 and 3.2.

    okay,... I just saw another website which shows I should put in the 'replace <oldpwd>' clause in.
    This works in SQL Developer:     alter user sutemp identified by carport999 replace garage999;
    So why does the 'password' command fail?     (Developers:  it would also be helpful to have the ORA- error displayed as opposed to 'Failed to change password')

  • HOW TO: Open SQL Developer from a batch file with specific tables opened

    I use SQL Developer daily as I develop database intensive programs.
    ** Question **
    How can I define a specific configuration of tabs (i.e. tables, procedures, etc) to be opened upon startup of SQL Developer?
    For example, creating a .BAT file to open SQL Developer with a specific set of table tabs already opened. This will save me the time every morning I use to open SQL Developer and configure all the tables I need opened.
    NOTE: I have tried various options of appending a table name to a command line starting sqldeveloper.exe. For example: ..\sqldeveloper.exe mydatabase.mytable. However, this only opens a worksheet tab with the name "mydatabase.mytable" but does not open my actual table.
    Any help will be appreciated.

  • Logon trigger setting nls_date_format over ridden by sql developer?

    Problem: Developers are inserting a Date record into a varchar field. I can't change this process right now. Non-Date info is stored here also. Would require a code change.
    To simplify this, I wanted to get all the developers to insert using the same 'nls_date_format'. I had hoped to be able to centralize this by having Oracle set it in the database. I tried this by setting the database nls_date_format and with a logon trigger.
    See test below. Seems to be over ridden.
    Test case is with SQL Developer. Noticed the same thing when developers use Websphere. I think we reduce the chance for errors, if I can handle this in the database. However, my nls_date_format settings are getting over ridden.
    1. s et database parameter nls_date_format to YYYY-MM-DD HH24:MI:SS , this gets over riden by SQL Developer/Websphere
    2. Created a trigger with an 'alter session', but this seems to get over ridden also.
    Please see test case below:
    Oracle 11.2.0.3
    test logging: SQLPLUS locally on the unix server, then log in using SQL Developer which is installed on my laptop.
    SQL Developer NLS_DATE_FORMAT : YYYY-MON-DD HH24:MI:SS , This is different for test purposes
    I have auditing turned turned on to db,extended with 'audit all by 'user' by access;' for test purposes to get more info.
    create table test (username varchar2(30),sid number,mytest varchar2(300),insert_date date);
    create or replace
    TRIGGER LOGINTRG
    AFTER LOGON ON DATABASE
    BEGIN
    insert into test select user,   sys_context('USERENV','SID') ,value,sysdate from v$parameter where name = 'nls_date_format';
    EXECUTE IMMEDIATE 'ALTER SESSION SET NLS_DATE_FORMAT=''YYYY-MM-DD HH24:MI:SS''';
    insert into test select user,   sys_context('USERENV','SID') ,value,sysdate from v$parameter where name = 'nls_date_format';
    commit;
    END LOGINTRG;
    /Results/Questions
    1. When I select from 'test', I confirm that my NLS_DATE_FORMAT is the same both before and after the alter session.
    2. select value from v$parameter where name = 'nls_date_format'
    output: YYYY-MON-DD HH24:MI:SS (so sql developer is over riding this);
    3. select * from dba_audit_trail where username = 'MYUSER' order by timestamp desc;
    The SQLs from the logon trigger are not captured. how do I capture logon trigger sqls? Not a huge deal, just curious
    4. I do not see any alter sessions issued by my user. shouldn't audit all by access capture that? how could my session nls_date_format change without an alter session?

    Problem: Developers are inserting a Date record into a varchar field.

    No - they aren't. That is physically impossible. The only thing that can be stored in a 'varchar field' is a string. Oracle considers ANYTHING stored in a character column to be a string.
    Date values are stored in DATE columns. Perhaps you meant that developers are converting DATE values to strings and then storing the string in a 'varchar field'?
    >
    I can't change this process right now. Non-Date info is stored here also.
    >
    WONDERFUL! Why use a column to stored just one type of data? That is extremely wasteful. Hopefully you store strings that represent numbers in that same column also? It makes the data model so much easier to understand if developers only need to learn one datatype.
    >
    Would require a code change.
    >
    The horror!
    You should never, ever, EVER use a code change to fix a problem if there is even the slightest possibility that you can change the ENTIRE DATABASE instead.
    I've got good news though. You are now on version Oracle 11.2.0.3 and Oracle, after months of protests by some of their largest clients, has finally dropped the exhorbitant license fees for using some of the more esoteric datatypes like DATE and NUMBER.
    You should suggest to your manager that they use some of the license fee money saved to hire developers that already know how to design proper data models and use those new-fangled datatypes.
    Trust me - once you've made it up that steep learning curve your code will have fewer of those pesky 'dirty data' issues to deal with.
    Sure - it means less job security for your current developers. But sometimes you just have to 'take one for the team'!

  • SQL Developer 1.5: Logging Page - oracle.dbtools.db.DBUtil - ORA-12705

    I just downloaded SQL Developer 1.5.
    When I try logging into any database, the Logging Page shows:
    Source: oracle.dbtools.db.DBUtil
    Message: ORA-12705: Cannot access NLS data files or invalid environment specified
    I've tried setting the NLS preferences to the default ... no dice/
    SQL Developer 1.2 works fine.

    Hi Helder,
    I think you're on the right track but when I made the changes you described
        Tools -> Preferences -> Database -> NLS parameters
        "Decimal Separator" from . to '.'
        "Group Separator"   from , to ','
        "Currency"          from $ to '$'I found that, while the error messages did indeed stop, my numbers started being formatted incorrectly.
    select to_char( 12345.23, '99G999D99' ) from dual
    TO_CHAR(12345.23,'99G999D99')
    12.345'23   Note how the single quote appears as a decimal separator and a period appears as the group separator.
    Your idea did however lead me to the following workaround which eliminates the ora-12705 error and sets the decimal and group separators properly.
        Tools -> Preferences -> Database -> NLS parameters
        "Decimal Separator" from . to .,
        "Group Separator"   from , to      (i.e. leave the field blank)The currency separator can stay at its original value, a single $ character. After making these changes the query above returns this.
    select to_char( 12345.23, '99G999D99' ) from dual
    TO_CHAR(12345.23,'99G999D99')

  • Is it possible to query software inventory report for Oracle SQL developer installation?

    Hi all
    My company requires to generate a report of all kinds of Oracle database access tool. I can find Toad installation from Add/Remove Program and therefore can query for Toad.
    However, Oracle SQL developer is using Java. I cannot see an entry for Oracle SQL developer from Add/Remove Program. Is there a way to query inventory for Oracle SQL developer installation?
    Thanks a lot.
    Regards
    Lic

    You might be able to use software inventory to report on the version of sqldeveloper.exe.
    As the app looks like just a zip you extract to a custom location that might be one method.

  • Oracle SQL Developer 3.1 Migration Third Party Databases Issues

    Hi,
    i had following issues with migrating from db2 v8 to oracle 11.2.
    Online:
    Due to missing privileges and roles for user db user migrations some steps have failed (CREATE USER -> ORA-01031 ...).
    After correcting this like described in "Creating a Database User for the Migration Repository" in sqldev online help this has worked.
    The problems are:
    a) on the overview page at the end of the migration assistent all steps (CAPTURE, CONVERT, GENERATE, DATAMOVE) are shown as complete, even if nothing has done
    b) on page 6/9 into migration assistant all changes for datatype convertion are ignored, for example CHAR to VARCHAR2
    c) generated files are not visible, even if you mark refresh on file view
    d) after restarting sqldev, generarted files are visible in file view, but when you add generated files to svn error message "svn: File: xxx has inconsitent newlines" is shown
    e) after sucessful migration on opened migration project pane "data quality" sourcenumrows are NULL, even if they always NOT NULL and count(*) on any table on both sites are equal
    Offline:
    Generated skripts contains errors:
    ./startDump.sh: line 157: syntax error near unexpected token `done'
    '/startDump.sh: line 157: `done < "schemas.dat"
    Can anybody help?
    Thanks in advance
    André

    Hi kgronau,
    thanks for your fast answer.
    Today i have found 2 new issue.
    When you have opened a migration project from repository, on pane "data quality" sourcenumrows are always null
    and
    sourcename and targetname shows always databse object names from the database on the first migration project in repository independently of extra section in drop down box model and source.
    kgronau wrote:
    André,
    I used SQL Dev 3.1 and I captured a DB2 database. Then I've changed the rule to map char to varchar2 and started the migration.
    When I now check out my custom tables all all of them that had in the source model a char column are now using varchar2.I have tried to changed dataype for target database in place over the drop down box, not the edit rule button. It's a little bit confusing to have this option, when it doesn't works.
    After using the edit rule button, all works fine. Just the summary page 9/9 doesn't report changed datatype assignment.
    >
    Could you please explain what you mean with your option c and d?c)
    Yes i'm meaning View -> Files. Sorry but on german windows i have just german menu items. That is sometimes tricky to retranslate for support questions and also not helpful when using the online help where all menu items referenced in english :-(
    (Do you have an ideo how can i configure sqldev with english menu aon german windows?)
    I think, this problemn is special for output folders under subversion control.
    d)
    Generated Files after the end of the migration are just visible in output folders under subversion control after restarting sqldev

    Are you talking about Opening a File viewer window (View -> Files)? In my case I have chosen d:\temp\DB2 as output and monitored it during the migration. It isn't refreshed until I manually click on the refresh button - but once the migration has finished and written the output and when I then click on the refresh button I'll see all the directories and the files included.
    Edited by: kgronau on Mar 7, 2012 12:39 PM
    When a migration has finished then SQL Developer 3.1 now creates in the top directory an unload_script.sh file which calls the other unload scripts.That's right, all scripts are generated.
    Also the data unload scripts were created - I need to find a DB2 on Unix to check the script - a quick check of the windows scripts worked correctly.
    Edited by: kgronau on Mar 7, 2012 1:22 PM
    These unload shell scripts to unload the data out of a DB2 database are also working.
    Unfortunately I'm not able to test the shell script used for a source model unload as my UDB is running on Windows.
    Didn't the online source model collection work? For me it looks like it did as you mentioned you changed the char data types to varchar2 and this requires already a connection to the source database - except you used the scripts that were generated using the startDump.sh which has failed. Yes, online source model collection did work. Just the unix shell script produces an error on the source unix system with db2. Please see below th generated script.
    So please provide here some more details../startDump.sh was startet for testing purposes without any arguments

  • SQL Developer replacing Query Builder 6.0.7

    Dear All,
    We know SQL Developer 3.0 has a link to Query Builder from within it, but does it contain a similar structure as we saw in the old Query Builder 6.0.7 developed by Oracle long back?
    The old Query Builder 6.0.7 could be used for editing and creating parameterised queries and generating formatted output, so just want to know if we can get the similar functionality using SQL Developer 3.0.
    1. Whether SQL Developer 3.0 can create and edit queries by selecting data tables in Oracle?
    2. Can it convert any old Query Builder queries (in .brw extension) to a format that can be run in SQL Developer 3.0?
    I am about to download and install the SQL developer 3.0, but thought of asking here first and get some advice/views.
    So, Please reply back with anything that might help me out.
    With Regards,
    Pamir

    Yes thanks Jim...I realised that when I started to dig more into this.
    Now I have downloaded and installed the software...currently am able to create, edit queries and do other stuff.

  • Demonstrating PL/SQL Functions Using SQL Developer

    Good afternoon,
    I'm starting to write some PL/SQL functions to replace some of the SQL that I use most frequently.  A couple of very simple examples would be:
    create or replace function func_test (p_1 number) return number
    is
    x number;
    y number;
    begin
    x :=1;
    y :=2;
    return p_1 * x * y;
    end func_test;
    create or replace function func_test2 (p_1 varchar2) return varchar2
    is
    return_val varchar2(10);
    begin
    select p_1 into return_val from dual;
    return return_val;
    end func_test2;
    However, at my workplace I haven't been granted create function privileges yet until I can demonstrate some examples, which is understandable.
    For the time being, without these privileges, is there a way I can build/test functions in principle locally using SQL Developer without the need to write the functions to our database? I.e. can I demonstrate the above in SQL Developer, but without wrapping in create or replace syntax?
    I hope this isn't too vague.
    Using Oracle 11gR2 (not logged in to workplace database at the moment for specific version no.)
    SQL Developer 3.4
    Thanks,
    TP

    populating test DB with data is a solvable problem.
    You don't need client data to test code (functions).
    You only need sample test data; which generally is less than a few dozen records per table.
    Absolutely, of course. Our client database is pretty messy though, and includes data prior to the implementation of more recent business rules that I need to take account of. Useful perspective though, thanks.
    rp0428 02-Nov-2013 19:14 (in response to TinyPenguin)
    Sure, but then I wouldn't have access to all the data in our client database to test functions under various circumstances.
    Huh? Why not? It's your database so what keeps you from creating a database link to your client database where all the data is?
    Also, I suppose it's not good practice to constantly write/replace/drop functions to/from a database when developing them? Better to test the function in principle and then write to the database?
    Huh? Why not? What you think a dev database is for if not for development?
    Based on your two posts so far in this thread it's understandable why they don't want to give you privileges yet. Those sample 'functions' you posted are NOT a good use for functions.
    In sql developer you can just create and save the queries you use most often. There is no need to create functions for that.
    But if you do need an anonymous function now and then just create one using sql*plus syntax:
    Our IT department are pretty sensitive about how they allow access, even to the dev environment. As you've identified, I'm not naturally a programmer so the option to play around with the data to develop some representative examples about how we can simplify and devolve SQL reporting to more members of staff is useful to me. I just wrote those two function quickly for the purpose of posting some sample data, which I thought would be helpful. Thanks for illustrating how to return their output using an anonymous block.
    FrankKulash 02-Nov-2013 19:13 (in response to TinyPenguin)
    Hi,
    The obvious solution is to get the privileges.  If your employer really wants you to do something, they need to give you the necessary privileges to do it.  It's silly for them to tell you to do something, but refuse to let you do it.
    Failing that, you can install Oracle on your own machine, as suggested above.  It's free and legitimate if you're only using it for learning and developing.  Oracle Express Edition is very easy to install.
    As a last resort, you can write functions and procedures that are local to an anonymous block, like this:
    Thanks Frank. Yeah I'm going to speak with our DBA next week about privileges. I've got XE/SQL Developer installed on my own computer - I wrote those sample functions using them - I just wasn't sure how to call/return anonymous blocks as both you and rp identified to develop at work as an interim solution.
    Thanks a lot All,
    TP.
