SQL Developer 3.0 (3.0.04.34) is not showing Timesten Tab

Hi all,
I downloaded the SQL developer version 3.0 (3.0.04.34) for Linux OEL 6.0 and can not see the timesten tab after the successful start. LD_LIBRARY_PATH is set. Any hint is appreciate.

Hi Mark,
You should not need to restart SQL Developer after adding a third party JDBC driver. Also, I don't think you should have added ojdbc.jar.
Just as an experiment, I ftp'd my Windows ttjdbc6.jar to my Linux box (Oracle Enterprise Linux) in a scratch directory, then added it in the preferences of SQL Developer 3.0 as a third party JDBC driver. On trying to add a "New Connection", the TimesTen tab appears next to the Oracle tab. The input fields all seem to work, but I did not hit OK to create a connection.
If that doesn't work for you, perhaps someone with actual TimesTen experience on Linux will reply.

Edit: And my LD_LIBRARY_PATH (=/usr/openwin/lib:/usr/dt/lib) does not reference a TimesTen directory. No such install on this box.

Currently, the Oracle SQL Developer 2.1 EA1 and 1.5.5 are not working on MacOS X Snow Leopard. Is there a plan to support the actual version of OS X?

The missing class is not available from any code-source or loader in the system. check that.
what version of JAVA do you have in your fancy OS? most of the time upgrade java to the latest version will fix the issues.

SQL Developer 2.1.1.64 - code template does not work in Windows Vista

I have been trying to import a code template in SQL Developer 2.1.1.64 / Windows Vista using the following steps:
1. Import template (xml) file using "Preferences > Database > SQL Formatter > Import..." option. Pressed "OK" button.
2. Clicked on "Preferences > Database > SQL Formatter > Oracle Formatting".
I expected to see the new profile under "Profile" drop-down-list-box, but it does not appear there.
I tried putting the template (xml) file under various locations, including:
(a) C:\Users\<user_name>\
(b) C:\Users\<user_name>\AppData\Roaming\SQL Developer\
Please let me know any suggestions that you may have.

I got it to work. In step 1 that I mentioned, "OK" button should not be pressed; go to step 2 without pressing "OK" button.

SQL Developer 1.5.5 does not show partition tab

I recently switched to SQL Developer 1.5.5 on RHEL 5.3 with Java 1.6.0_13. In 1.5.5, there is no partition tab when I view the table details. However version 1.5.4 shows the partition tab. Was this intentionally removed or is it a bug?
Here's an example of how my table was created:

Yes, you are correct. I am able to select my existing partitioned tables and then if I select yours, I can see the partitions and the details. But when I ran the script you provided from the outset the tabs were not visible, I could only see them after I'd selected one of my partitioned tables first. As you say, this is not the case in 1.5.1, but is so for 1.5.5. I have logged a bug 8713231, and will have the developers look into it.
The database does matter in general, as we display different tabs for the different databases, but as you're on 11g, that is not the issue.

Simple SQL query SQL developer takes it, The wizzard of XE does not

I wrote this simple query which SQL developer runs fine, but when I try to launch a Report based on this sql query it tells me invalid sql statement. That is true, it may be invalid because this IF clause in there..but SQL developer seems to be very tolerant or understands more...
the reason I wrote that is because obviously if there are no bosses, ie = 0 then i would get an error when dividing it by 0, so I put that 0 just to select the good ones

oh yes (blushed in shame as how dumb i looked like) i knew about the denominator 0 and infinite as as result i just didnt notice my zero was on the numerator :(

SQL Developer 3.0 data modeler print-to-pdf not working

I am working in Windows XP. I am running SQL Developer version 3.0.04, which now includes a full-featured version of the Data Modeler. I have run into a problem with this version, which did not occur in the stand-alone version of the Data Modeler.
When I try to print a data model diagram [File -> Data Modeler -> Print Diagram -> To PDF file], a PDF file is generated. When I try to open that PDF file with Adobe Reader (version 9.4.3) I get the following error message:
"Adobe Reader could not open 'finename.pdf' because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged(for example it was sent as an email attachment and wasn't correctly decoded)."
Furthermore, the size of the file in question is 0 bytes. When I use the same process in the stand-alone version, a readable PDF file is created whose size is 858 bytes.
The 'print to IMAGE file' option works well in both versions.
Any help resolving this would be appreciated.

I am having almost same problem. PDF file is genereted about 400K but blank.

SQL Developer 2.1.0.63.73 - Data Migration Not Working Correctly

After migrating the tables and everything, the system attempts to migrate the data but half way through the process the system says data move complete without migrating all the data. The last table i noticed it is trying to migrate contains 55,000 records. Is there a limitation with the data that can be transfered via the tool or could it be a bug in the software?

Not speaking using first-hand information, but people with problems migrating usually have more luck using the offline capture scripts. Can you try those?

Problem Dropping Objects in Oracle XE using PL/SQL Developer

I am using PL/SQL Developer to access Oracle XE. I created some tables and later dropped them. But I still see some objects in the PL/SQL Developer Browser under the Tables section.
Below is the name of the objects in I see:

When I tried dropping these objects, I get ORA - 00933: SQL Command not properly ended. Error deleting bin$fj7zj7y9rhqujmwrz1zmtg==$0
How do I resolve this problem? And then drop all those objects listed above.
Is it possible to drop those objects at all?

There is no problem sofar. The objects you see are dropped objects ( if you drop it, oracle silently rename the object but preserve it as long you have sufficient space ).
You shouldn't drop them if you don't have issue with free space - they enable you to get back accidentally dropped table without to have restore the backup ( flashback table). If you are annoyed by displaying it in PL SQL Developer, you can just add a filter to not show them to you ( all objects like 'bin%' ) or you can update to newrer version of PL SQL Developer ( i've 7.0.0.1050 and it is displayed properly, all dropped objects can be found under recyclebin folder ). Finally , if you want purge them, use the 'purge recyclebin' command.

Can connect via ODBC but not via SQL Developer?

My setup:
Windows XP Pro
JDK 1.6
SQL Developer 2.1.1.64.45
I'm attempting to connect to an Oracle DB using OS authentication and trying hand-entry of the host and SID; and also trying my TNS file. When I attempt to connect via SQL Developer, I get the following error:
"Status : Failure -Test failed: ORA-01017: invalid username/password; logon denied."
When I attempt this same connection, however, using ODBC and Access, I can get right in and see the tables.
What can I try in order to get SQL Developer working correctly?

I'm not really familiar with connections Using OS authentication, but if OCI+TNS based connections work you could try to activate OCI connections by selecting
Preferences -> Database -> Advanced -> Use OCI/Thick Driverand then use the TNS connection type when creating your connection.
It should work well even with the thin driver but i cannot help you in this case because i've never had to use this kind of authentication.

We have a small table in our sql server 2005 schema (~700) rows. Its primary key is a bigint. We randomly generate ids for this table (don't ask). We have ids for this table which are larger than 2147483647. (java.lang.Integer.MAX_VALUE). I'm using a Windows 10g instance as the repository:

A problem row can be viewed by issuing this query against the repository:
select * from md_sequences where seq_start > 2147483647;
We have one row returned. The oracle.dbtools.metadata.persistence.MdSequence class uses a java.lang.Integer value to store the start value for the sequence. The value stored in the repository's MD_SEQUENCE table overflows the Integer type.
Updating the SEQ_START column in the MD_SEQUENCE table fixed our problem. (Well, I can now generate the schema. I may have other problems with the sequence being off).
I've written this post to save someone else the day it took me to diagnose this problem with Sql Developer 1.5.5. At the very least Sql Developer should inform the user that it could not generate the script because of the large sequence start value. It basically swallows any error and terminates script generation without any type of feedback.

Update: I was able to recreate the problem!
1. Create a new table (I used TEST).
2. Mark first column af primary key.
3. Save the table.
Notice the name of the primary key index created: (TEST_PK in my case)
4. Edit the table.
5. Under constraints change the name of the primary key constraint.
6. Save the table.
Notice that the index still has its original name.
7. Edit the table.
8. Change something.
9. Attempt to save changes (Fails).
Conclusion:
Either SQL Developer should be aware of indexes with different name than a constraint,
or when SQL Developer changes the name of a constraint with an index, both the constraint and the index should be renamed.

Those parameters probably aren't correct.
Is that 11g on your machine? Try to specify the real IP instead. And sure the listener is up?
Also sure about the SID and port?

We are using Oracle 11g (11.2.0.1.0) on (Platform : solaris[tm] oe (64-bit)), Sql Developer 3.0.04
We are trying to use oracle external table to load text files in .csv format. Here is our data look like.

It created successfully using SQL Developer
Here is the issue.
It is not loading the records, where fields are enclosed in '"' (Rec # 2,3,4,7)
It is loading all NULL value record (Rec # 6)
*** If we remove the '"' from input data, it loads all records including all NULL records
Log file has
KUP-04021: field formatting error for field P_NAME
KUP-04036: second enclosing delimiter not found
KUP-04101: record 2 rejected in file ....
Our questions
Why did "REJECT ROWS WITH ALL NULL FIELDS" not working?
Why did Terminated by "," OPTIONALLY ENCLOSED BY '"' not working?
Any idea?

I don't think this is a SQLDeveloper issue. You will get better answers in the Database - General or perhaps SQL and PL/SQL forums.

SQL Developer: Windows 7 64-bits double numerical entries

I am using sql developer windows 7 64-bits version 64-3.2.20.09.87-no-jre.
I am entering data directly on tables.
Sometimes when I use numeric pad to enter numbers, double entries appears on the first digit.
For example: entering 1234
it appears 11234 - with first numeric entry appearing twice.
This also happens with the past versions, different notebook brands.
How do I solve this problem?

What do you mean by this statement?
SQL Developer is just a client. Clients do NOT have to be exactly version matched to a database. I am running SQLDeveloper 3.2 on a Win 7 Pro 64-bit desktop and my databases are a mix of 10.2.0.4 and 11.2

SQL Developer 3.2.10.09.57 Hangs

Is anyone else seeing SQL Developer 3.2.10.09.57 hang after using the Find DB Object function? I can reproduce this issue. I'm connected to 11gR2 instances.
I have reverted to SQL Developer 3.1 due to this issue.

Not much detail to go on. Are you searching only by name, or did you click on More... to specify some combination of Schema/Type/Usage also? Are you using the same machine for the 3.2 and 3.1 installs? The exact same connection details for both installs?
More over, is this a hang (never comes back) or just slow? If you want to debug a bit, try the following:
//Example for Windows
1. Open a command line console. Adjust the properties so the console buffer size is at least 500 lines.
2. CD to your installation bin directory ( ...\sqldeveloper\sqldeveloper\bin).
3. set ORACLE_HOME=%CD% (This is optional - if you want to ensure use of the jdbc driver that ships with SQL Developer)
4. Launch sqldeveloper.exe (not sqldeveloperW.exe) so any debug messages appear in the console
5. Run your test case and when it hangs, do a Ctrl-Break from the console to get a full thread dumpRegards,

I would say it's vendor code 17002 (not 170002). And such a message is thrown by SQL Developer , unfortunately very generic for any kind of connection problems.
Start sqlplus and try to connect, very likely you get a better error message.
Recently I had such a connection problem and the reason was - No Listener.
