SQL Developer connect to RAC12c (Basic) failed with ORA-01017 invalid username/password; logon denied

I'm using scan in hostname to connect as Basic that failed ORA-01017.  I'm using the same credential system to logon from sqlplus and is fine.
Any ideas?

Essentially all you have said is: help me, I have a problem.
1. full version of sql developer being used
2. full version of Java SDK being used
3. full version of JDBC jar file being used
4. full details on the connection information being used
5. full version of the Oracle client being used
6. confirm that both your sql*plus and sql developer connections were made from the SAME machine
A Basic connection uses the thin driver while sql*plus is using OCI

  • Sqlldr failing with ORA-01017: invalid username/password; logon denied

    Hi,
    I am running the import of some files through an internal application (in C++) using Oracle 11.2.0.3: the load uses sqlldr and I am getting the below error
    SQL*Loader-128: unable to begin a session
    ORA-01017: invalid username/password; logon denied
    However, sqlldr used through the DOS command, connects without an issue with the same account.
    I have tried the same test using the same application on my local install which uses 11.2.0.2 and I am not having any issue...any idea what may be the cause of it?
    Thanks

    ThanksOracle is too dumb to lie. Your app is obviously not passing the credentials you believe it is.

    I faced Issue with OPS$ user mechanism in two scenario
      Unable to create/delete user as identifier exceeds 30 characters
    1. The installation terminates when you create the OPS$ users (step
    ORADBUSER_NT_ORA)
    As per SAP Note 314671 - Long WINDOWS domain names and Oracle 8.1.x or higher
       Set the parameter  os_authent_prefix = "" In parameter file initR47.ora
    Restart the DB for parameter to take effect then continue with installation
    2. the system does not start because the OPS$ users were not created correctly.
        You can set the default password for SCHEMAID (SAP<SID>) in table sapuser table. Hence the work process connects with default password and you can run the system smoothly.but the brtools (brconnect DB13) will fail as they try to connect using (Connect /) ops$ user
    By setting the parameter os_authent_prefix = "" and running the ORADBUSR.SQL SQL did not work.
    We can avoid this by setting parameter os_authent_prefix = O$
    This reduces the username by two characters (OPS$CTSGVCSAPBL09\SAPSERVICER47 to O$CTSGVCSAPBL09\SAPSERVICER47)

    I installed Java-Addin for an existing ECC ABAP instance.
    I install this Java Add-in in a seperate machine.

    Am i understanding it right?
    You are trying to Install Java Add-in on  Box-A  for an existing ABAP Instance which is installed in Box-B.
    I see both unix and window directories in the log, can u explain your installation procedure.
    a) Have you inserted the "IP Addreas  & Hostname" in /etc/host file on either boxes. ?
    b) Are you able to ping Box-A from Box-B and vice versa. ?
    c) Have you mounted /sapmnt/<SID>  of Box-B on Box-A?
    d) Are you installing as user 'root' (unix) or administrator (windows)
    e) On the ABAP Instance check if the users J2EE_ADMIN, J2EE_GUEST, SAPJSF are created and not locked.  Check if the roles exisiting.
    f) Check if you have enough space in your TMP & SAPINST directories
    g) Check the file permission for SecStore.properties and SecStore.key.
    h) Check if the JAVA db user is lockec egSAPSR3DB
       1)login '/as sqlplus'
       2) select username, account_status from dba_users;
    i) passwords are case sensitive, hope you are using the right comibination.
    j) It prompts for DDIC password of the client in use.  Is the password enter for DDIC right ?
    Prior to this installation did you try installing JAVA Addin in Box B, if so, you have to uninstall the previous installation and then install this.
    Let me know
    Cheers

  • Getting ORA-01017: invalid username/password error only with specific tools

    Hi,
    I am a Junior DBA still getting familiar with Oracle. I am having trouble accessing one of my databases through both TOAD and SQLDetective tools. When I try to log in to my database using these tools, I get the error:
    ORA - 01017: invalid username/password; login denied
    Even though the password and username is correct.
    I can successfully login through other tools like SQLTools and through SQL Plus. I have searched this issue and I have seen people with the same problems but I couldnt find a solution. The weird thing is, I can use TOAD and SQLDetective to login to other databases without any issues. It seems to be this one specific database.
    My database is an 11g database on a linux box. I have 9i and 10g clients installed on my machine. The all my apps use the tnsnames from the 9i home on my machine.
    Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
    Rgs,
    Rob

    Hello, if it is 11g, look at the parameter sec_case_sensitive_logon. This parameter defaults to true, which makes the password case sensitive. Some tools/apps do a UPPER or LOWER on the password and so this may the reason for the error

  • Connecting as sysdba returns ORA-01017: invalid username/password

    SQL Developer on my Win7 x64 Enterprise machine with Oracle 11gR2 Express was working fine until I tried to install the ODAC connectors so I could use Oracle as a data source for C# and VB in Visual Studio 2010.
    The connection properties are:
    Connection name "/ as sysdba"
    Role "default"
    Connection Type "basic"
    OS Authentication checked
    Hostname "localhost"
    Port 1521
    SID "orcl"
    These are the same as when SQL Developer was working.
    If I try to log on to SQL*Plus at the user-name prompt with "/ as sysdba", I get "insufficient privileges".
    Where and what do I check to fix this?
    Thanks.

    >
    Where would I check for DOMAIN/USER entries?
    select username, authentication_type from dba_users;With the prefix, there should be a database user e.g. "OPS$MYDOM\MYUSER" with external identification.
    But with Connection type Basic, I assume you would not be able to connect anyway.
    Try type TNS to see if that works or changes anything. (That is, if corresponding db user exists for OS authentication.)
    Do you have a requirement to use OS authentication? Could you instead use a database user with a password, i.e. uncheck OS Authentication in SQL Developer?
    The connections in SQL Developer are the Auto-Generated Local Connections:
    / as sysdbaI've found a few quirks in SQL Developer 3.0.04 with the auto-generated connection named "/ as sysdba". But right now I don't see that its relevant to this case.
    Just create your own connection instead. If you need sysdba administrative connection, change Role in connection properties.

    By the way, the password for SYSMAN will expire in 5 days. How do I update the password?You should separate questions in separate threads and related forums, but lookup the ALTER USER command in the SQL Reference book.

  • Discoverer Portlet fails with ora-01017

    This is about OAS 10gR2
    Middle tier version: 10.1.2.0.2
    Discoverer version: 10.1.2.48.18
    I've manually changed password for Discoverer EUL Owner schema (using "alter user blablabla identified by blablabla" statement, in sqlplus) and now I can't register discoverer portlet provider.
    It fails with the following message:
    "Error!
    BaseException is ... ORA-01017: invalid username/password; logon denied
    Recognizing component versions...
    ptlshare.jar version: 10.1.2.0.2
    pdkjava.jar version: 10.1.2.0.0"
    I make no idea what was the password for discover5 schema before and that was the reason i changed it.
    Already have redeployed discoverer.ear file in OAS administration, but it didn't change a thing.
    I've tried the Discoverer Forum but no one there answered my question.
    Any ideas of what could bring this kind of issue?
    TIA
    Marcos

    Solved!
    The problem was that when I changed user password in database, i did not synchronized Database user with OID attributes.
    Step by step solution:
    Reset Password for DB user in sqlplus with
    "Alter user XXXX identified by YYYYYY;"
    Enter OID (Oracle Directory Management) as the "superuser" (ORCLADMIN);
    Navigate to
    -> Entry Management
    -> cn=OracleContext
    -> cn=Product
    -> cn=IAS
    -> cn=IAS InfraStructure Databases
    -> cn=orclReferenceName=appsdb.ecovias.com.br
    -> OrclResourceName=DISCOVERER5
    Alter orclPasswordattribute for the user, using the same password you have resetted in Sqlplus.
    Bounce OAS middle tier instance (ompnctl startall/stopall or using Application Server Control).
    Touché, it's done!
    Alternativelly, you can keep geniuses away from altering passwords...
    Thanx y'all...

  • 9.0.1.1.1 DBCA fails with ORA-01017

    I've just downloaded Oracle9i 9.0.1.1.1 from OTN and have attempted to install it on my Win XP Pro machine.
    Everything seems to progress fine until the DBCA starts up, at which time I eventually get an error: "ORA-01017: invalid username/password; login denied" and the DBCA fails.
    Has anybody seen this before; know of any causes or workarounds?

  • Import/Export Jobs Fail - ORA-01017 Invalid UserName/PW - Solved!

    Every time I try to run either an Import or Export Job from OEM it always fails with ORA-01017 Invalid UserName/PW.
    I have read numerous posts in this forum on related topics.
    Suggestion have been;
    1. Make sure OS login is a member of the ORA_DBA group.
    2. Make sure the OS user has the ability to logon as batch job.
    3. Make sure the ORACLE_SID and ORACLE_HOME are set.
    4. Make sure to set up Preferred Credentials on the Preferences page.
    4. On and on and on.
    I am using Oracle Version 10.2.0.1.0 On Windows 2003 Server Enterprise SP1.
    When I installed the DB using Oracle Universal Installer it asks what Password you would like to assign to SYS, SYSTEM etc. I used the following password "AvT_$651#JK" which it accepted without problem. The installation completed and I am able to log into OEM using SYS/AvT_$651#JK (SYSDBA) or SYSTEM/AvT_$651#JK (Normal).
    I then proceed to "import from export files" a schema from a previously "export to export files" that was created on another host using the same Oracle Version 10.2.0.1.0 On Windows 2003 Server Enterprise SP1. This job always fails with "ORA-01017 Invalid UserName/PW" even though the username and pw are correct!
    Turns out the password itself is the problem, apparently some part of the process (RMAN??) does not like the special characters in the PW. Changing the PW to "testpw1" worked.
    Using Oracle Universal Installer should have prevented me from using a password that violated this policy.

  • Oem 12.1.0.3 installer fails with ora-01017

    Greetings,
    I am attempting to upgrade my OEM 12.1.0.1 installation to 12.1.0.3. I am following the instructions in the Oracle Enterprise Manager Cloud Control Upgrade Guide and Oracle Support Note 1568143.1. I have verified that all prerequisites are met and have installed patch 11061801 to the repository. The repository and OMS are on different machines. The 12.1.0.1 installation is able to connect to the repository, it has been running successfully for some time now. On the OMS server I stopped the OMS and the Agent and I invoke the 12.1.0.3 installer. I follow the steps and when it gets to the connection page it fails with ORA-01017. The messages are shown -
    1. Verify if the SYS password you entered is valid.
    2. Verify if the database initialization parameter REMOTE_LOGIN_PASSWORDFILE is set to either Shared or Exclusive.
    3. Verify if a password file with the file name orapw<SID> exists in the <ORACLE_HOME>/dbs directory.
    All conditions are met:
    -bash-3.2$ echo $ORACLE_SID
    oemrepos
    SQL> connect sys as sysdba
    Enter password:
    Connected.
    SQL> connect sysman
    Enter password:
    Connected.
    SQL> show parameter remote_login_passwordfile
    NAME                                 TYPE        VALUE
    remote_login_passwordfile            string      EXCLUSIVE
    -bash-3.2$ ls -l $ORACLE_HOME/dbs/orapwoemrepos
    -rw-r----- 1 oracle dba 1536 Jan 30  2013 /usr/local/oracle/app/oracle/product/11.2.0/dbhome_1/dbs/orapwoemrepos
    I am able to connect remotely from another machine. sqlplus is not installed on the OMS server.
    I am completely stumped and in need of assistance. Searching the web only indicates that I need to insure that the above listed conditions should be met, they are. If anyone has any suggestions I would appreciate the help.
    Thank you.

  • Local Domain Index  query fails with ora-01410: invalid rowid

    Hello!
    I have a task to implement partitioned domain index for range partitioned table.
    As I understood from reference http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B28359_01/appdev.111/b28425/dom_idx.htm
    the main difference is to provide support for partitioning operations by
    implementing corresponding ODCI interface functions.
    For the first I decided to create something simple to not spend time on system partitioned
    index storage table. My problem is that domain index works correctly when it's created without
    support for partitioning and produces "*ORA-01410: INVALID ROWID*" when it's created
    with LOCAL option.
    Test query:
    SELECT /* +index(from_sample_index) */ * FROM index_in_partitioned_tbl WHERE position_between(card_no)  < 50 ORDER BY card_no DESC;
    Index creared in this way returns 3 rows:
    CREATE INDEX from_sample_index ON index_in_partitioned_tbl (card_no) INDEXTYPE IS position_indextype;
    When index has been creared with LOCAL option I got "ORA-01410: INVALID ROWID" :
    CREATE INDEX from_sample_index ON index_in_partitioned_tbl (card_no) INDEXTYPE IS position_indextype LOCAL;
    I don't post implementation's source code to reduce amount of text in post. It works for global index.
    If I copy rowid from index storage table and then put it into something like
    SELECT card_no FROM index_in_partitioned_tbl WHERE rowid = 'AAAXHGAAEAAAFERAAh';
    then it will be executed successfully without any errors.
    I suppose the error could be somehow linked with "alter index" calls that Oracle makes when local domain index is created.
    The calls are made with option "AlterIndexRebuild" - possibly they mark index as invalid (though it's shown as valid in SQL Developer)

    Solved :)
    when index is LOCAL calls for ODCIINDEXSTART - ODCIINDEXFETCH - ODCIINDEXCLOSE are executed for each partition of base table.
    In my case ODCIINDEXFETCH returns row_id's regardless of partition that are currently scanned for values. So first call returned rowid values for all partitions not only for the first partition and validation failed with "ora-01410: invalid rowid"

  • ORA-01017 invalid username and password on remote connection.

    1. Server: Windows 2003 service Pack 2 64 bit
    2. Oracle 10.2.0.4
    I created a new database and setup everything. Database is up running. At second day, I tried to connect this database from a remote client laptop. A normal user connection is working (I changed sqlnet.ora file to SQLNET.AUTHENTICATION_SERVICES = (NONE)). but I couldn't connect as SYS or SYSTEM users through SQLPLUS or Third party SQL tool. It gave me ORA-01017 error. My steps like:
    C:> set Oracle_sid=mydb
    C:>sqlplus /nolog
    SQL:>conn sys/syspassword as sysdba
    ORA-01017
    However, I remotely log on to server machine, do the same steps
    C:> set Oracle_sid=mydb
    C:>sqlplus /nolog
    SQL:>conn sys/syspassword as sysdba
    SQL:> connected
    What caused this error from remote client connection. I have done some search to resolve the problem. Some suggest to re-create password file or create OPS$user. I just setup SYS password during database creation. So I don't want to re-create password file. I have another client machine in office that can connect as SYS and SYSTEM users either from server or from SQLPLUS on client machine without problem. So the issue is on my laptop that is connected to database remotely. Please give me some advices. Thanks.

    Thanks for all of your advices. I want to say:
    1. I just created this new database yesterday and created SYS password during database creation from another clinet machine in my office. All connections are working. This is why I don't want to change the password at this moment. If I re-create password file, will this affect another client machine in office to connect to DB as sysdba?
    2. From server, I can connect. I used the same sys/syspassword as sysdba. If the password is wrong, I would not be able to connect from server.
    3. When I tried to connect from remote client machine, I do connect with string like: SQL:> conn sys/syspassword@mydb as sysdba. But it didn't work and return ORA-01017 error.
    4. I have other 4 databases on different servers. I can connect from the same remote client machine through SQLPLUS and TOAD with sys as sysdba and system.
    Please advise more. Thanks.
