SQL ERROR on Form Input
I used the wizard in Dreamweaver CS4 Developer Toolbox to have a form to upload an image and some data to a MySql dbase.
Here is the error I got:

What can be wrong? I understand its an SQL error, but not sure why ADDT caused an SQL Error or how to fix it myself.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Chris
Problem solved. While it is noted that on a DC you cannot run the database as a local service, it is not mentioned that it will not even install if loaded as ANY service. If given a full admin user and password to use as it's operating condition,
the install goes fine. Then change to what is desired. I am not impressed with the error reporting in this install, as even the event logs gave no indication as to the reason for this. Most of the install of the database service went OK (In
the event logs and the install logs.) and when doing the final config, the problem pops up, aborting everything else. You MUST then wipe ALL traces of the first install or different weird failures appear no matter what credentials are used.
Hi C Policki,
Sorry for my delay.
Glad to hear that you have solved this issue and thanks for sharing in the forum. Your time and efforts are highly appreciated.
I noticed that you install the SQL Server 2012 in a Windows Server 2012 R2 Essentials. Would you please let me confirm whether that Windows Server 2012 R2 Essentials was a Windows Server 2012
R2 Standard/Datacenter with Windows Server Essentials Experience role, then you deploy it in an Existing Active Directory Environment?
Deploying
Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard/Datacenter with Windows Server Essentials Experience role in an Existing Active Directory Environment
If it is just a Windows Server 2012 R2 Essentials, it should be a DC.That
will be not recommended to install SQL Server on a domain controller. There are specific security restrictions when running SQL Server in this configuration and given the resource demands of a domain controller, SQL Server performance may be degraded.
You may encounter problems when installing SQL Server on a domain controller

Error while calling "sql Type" in forms
Hi all,
I have created a SQL TYPE in user schema and call it through form.While compiling form following error message arise:
Implementation restriction [may be temporary] ADT or schema level collection not supported at client side with non-OCI mode.
My user has dba rights and i m using 9.0.4.
Any idea ???
RegardsAll,
The problem is in Oracle Forms. The PL/SQL engine in Forms is not the same as the PL/SQL Engine in the database. Consequently, there will be features available in the Database that are not available in Forms. I suggest you alter your design so it doesn't use a database TYPE. There are a few Metalink articles that discuss this difference.

SQL error forced rollback and connection loss with OLE item in forms 6i
We are running forms 6i client server on a Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.1.0.3.0 - 64bit. We have a form that has 1 base table block that contains an OLE item where the user can create or edit a Microsoft Word document then save that document in a long raw column in the table. The OLE item is using the Word.Document.8 OLE class.
We are having intermittant problems where the user presses commit in the form and gets a FRM-40508 error: unable to Insert record. The message displayed at the bottom of the screen is FRM-40655: SQL error forced rollback: clear form and re-enter transaction. When I press Shift-F1 to view the error I see ORA-03113: end-of-file on communication channel.
DBA says that there are no errors being generated in the database. Does anyone have any experience with kind of problem? Any suggestions would be most welcome.The Ora-3113 error means that the connection has been lost.
These issues normally are database or networking related and have little to do with ole objects.
You need to determine if a server-side error is causing the disconnect.
To start diagnosing this issue you first need to turn on sqlnet tracing to see what other ora-XXXX error is occuring. That will start to help diagnosing this issue.
You may also want to check the database alert log for any RDBMS errors that may have caused the disconnect.
If there aren't any RDBMS errors logged, you should generate a Net8 trace for the session to see if you can get more detailed errors.
About sql tracing:
To obtain a trace, you have to place the following entries in the SQLNet.ORA file. Make sure before you start your application that the C:\Trace directory exist.
TRACE_FILE_CLIENT = net817
TRACE_DIRECTORY_CLIENT = C:\trace
TRACE_UNIQUE_CLIENT = ON
TRACE_LEVEL_CLIENT = 16
TRACE_TIMESTAMP_CLIENT = ON
When finished obtaining both traces, set the TRACE_LEVEL_CLIENT = 0 from 16 to turn off tracing.

Getting windows error during running the sql scripts from form 6i
I made a little form application. The purpose of this application is to generate explain plan for a particular SQL. Some sql scripts run internally in order to populate the result on forms screen after pressing the forms button but I am getting windows error during running the sql scripts from form 6i.
I am using forms 6i with patch 17 with Oracle 10G database on windows 2000 professional on same computer.
This application runs fine with 8i.
Please inform me where the problem is and how to overcome it.
Zafri.I am using Text_IO in my form's when button press trigger , inorder to create the
text file, then in the same when button press triger
I am calling RMAN via host command in order to run the script which was created by text_IO.
Below you find some of the code. I will appreciate if you solve the problem.
when button press trigger:
Declare
in_file3 Text_IO.File_Type;
linebuf3 VARCHAR2(1800);
output11 varchar2(1000);

output11:='C:\EXPLAIN_PLUS\misc\rm_file.bat ';
Host(output11,no_screen);

synchronize;
in_file3 := Text_IO.Fopen('c:\explain_plus\misc\create_table.txt', 'w');
Text_IO.Put_Line(in_file3, linebuf3);
Text_IO.put_line(in_file3,' ');

Text_IO.put_line(in_file3,' ');
Text_IO.put_line(in_file3,' ');
Text_IO.FCLOSE(in_file3)

FRM-40655: SQL error forced rollback: clear form and re-enter transaction.
Hello ,
I have ORACLE 10G & Forms 6i on Windows server 2008 . When I open the forms for some work , it give me error in few minis.
FRM-40655: SQL error forced rollback: clear form and re-enter transaction.
I have not done anything unusual in form design. it was working properly from a long time.
Yesterday i set the default profile to idle_time = 20. Will that make any problem ???
I checked my Alert Log but no sign of any deadlock in it, or any other unusual activity ....
What is the solution ???
Thanks in advance ..This happens due to dead lock situation
To avoid this problem, add NOWAIT option to the UPDATE and DELETE statements, which returns ORA-00054 error, trap this error and display user defined message like 'The record is being accessed and try after some time'.
This even improves the performance
because no process waits for the locks preventing dead locks.
If it is due to the UPDATE's or DELETE's with base table blocks in the form, in the PRE-UPDATE and PRE-DELETE triggers write SELECT statements to select the particular row with FOR UPDATE NO WAIT option. Handle by trapping the ORA-00054 error -
Forms 6i gives FRM-40734 Internal PL/SQL Error after Hourglass for 30 Min
Hi,
I am developing a New custom Form using a copy of Oracle Apps. TEMPLATE.FMB
(Out of two custom forms , I am getting the below issue in only one form and the other is working fine)
Everything works fine but I observed one unique issue during my testing.
I executed the form and entered a value in one column of the master record
(now the record in CHANGED status).
Now I pressed the F11 Key (for Enter-Query in Apps) for doing the
Query by ignoring the entered record values.
Instead of giving a message "Do you want to Save the changes you have made (or)
A Required Field must be entered"
But the Form shows the Hourglass(Busy) for 30 Minutes then gives the error :
FRM-40734 Internal PL/SQL Error
May I know in the above situation, what are the triggers the form will fire and in which sequence (forms 6i)
In summary what form triggers will be fired :
When a NEW record status is CHANGED and when the user invokes Enter-Query
(F11 on Apps and F8 on standalone) , before form changes to Enter-Query mode.
Any pointers to my issue resolution.
Below is my form canvas/block layout and I am getting the issue Only in Master Block and not in any of the detail blocks
MASTER BLOCK
DETAIL1 BLOCK
DETAIL2 BLOCK DETAIL2 BLOCK DETAIL2 BLOCK
thanks,
ShashiIssue got resolved:
==================
In my case, The solution I found is renaming the Relations with a unique name.
When the Relation is created for two different master blocks
the "Block creation wizard" has given the same name for both
these relations.
I renamed both of them with a custom unique name then the issue got resolved now the form is behaving correctly.
thanks,
Shashi -

Hello,
strange, you have the same message in SQL Server forum, but we can see Oracle DB here:
SQL ERROR
Without developer traces it would be difficult to say. But it looks bad enough because of kernel 6.20 patch level 1511 (definitely dboraslib.dll has similar patch level) and Oracle 8.1.7 are out of support since years.
best regards -

krishnaiah.Hi,
This is usually a SERVER SIDE DATABASE PROBLEM or SQLNET LISTENER (server side) PROBLEM. The client side should initially be ignored and instead the server should be investigated. In rare cases, this can be caused by client
side memory or other resource problem, or a DLL version mismatch, but this is
unlikely.
Enlist the assistance of your DBA. Then reproduce the ORA-3113 error on your
client application. Ask your DBA to look at the database side Alert.log and
trace files and look for ANY activity. Any activity that coincides with your
ORA-3113 will be a clue.

the error DbpError -28814 denotes that an object cannot be found.
Can you maybe tell me your exact liveCache version (incl. Build level) and LCA Build?
Additionally, please copy the relevant error information from the file (/sapdb/data/wrk/<SID>/)knldiag.err into this thread.
Which exact 'liveCache test program' are your referring to (which of the /SAPAPO/... transactions)?
Kind regards,

HTML special characters in form input
In my site I store form input in my database. Before I store
the data, I parse out smart quotes, en dashes, and other extended
special characters and convert them into HTHML quivalents such as
’
All is well and good until the user goes to edit their info.
In my form these characters show up in my <input> tags as
their long-winded HTML equivalents, such as ’ instead of
a smart apostrophe.
Is there any way to convert these back to the special
characters from the HTML on the form input text fields so that
users can edit them without being confused?
Thanks.Hmmm, well I ran the MX 6.1 updater and installed the two hot
fixes that had to do with null pointer exceptions and it still does
not work.
Here is the detailed error I'm getting, if it helps. Any more
ideas? Thanks again for the help, I'm really stuck on this one...

dear all,
i have done a system copy from production server into quality server. quality was scrapped and freshly installed with SAP then used the DB flush method to carry out the system copy. i had to change the DBS_ORA_SCHEMA in environment variables to SAP<SOURCE SID> from SAPSR3. the sap version is ECC6.0,DB is ORACLE10.2 on WIN NT.
after MMC opened, i get "SQL error in the database when accessing a table" error is coming. in SM21, I am getting "Transaction Canceled 00 671 ( DBIF_RSQL_SQL_ERROR 20081018130339sibqty_QTY_00 SAPSYS 000 )

thanks a lot..Hello Anuj,
This is because the COUNT(*) is returning a value which is longer than the INT4 data type it is expecting. If you restrict the selection by introducing a WHERE clause, then you won't get the dump:

gv_text TYPE string.

dyn_where = `DOMNAME LIKE 'Z%'`.

"Invalid Cursor" Error in Form
Hi,
I wrote a procedure that take a REF CURSOR as an IN OUT argument. This procedure does an "OPEN cursor FOR qry" with a dynamic query:
OPEN l_cursor FOR
'SELECT A '||
'FROM B '||
'WHERE C = :l_var'
USING myVar;After calling the procedure, I do a LOOP with FETCH.
It works well when I use it in SQL*Plus with DBMS_OUTPUT but it returns a "ORA-01001 invalid cursor" error in Forms.
Any help is welcome!
Regards,
Olivier.I found a solution on Metalink:

PL/SQL Version 8.0.6.0.0 (Production)

oracle , builder , 6i , pl , sql , forms Reply
I'm a total newbie here. We have someone using Oracle Form Builder [32-Bit]. Oracle 6i database. Her information is as follows:
Forms [32 Bit] Version 6.0.8.21.3 (Production)
Oracle Toolkit Version 6.0.8.21.0 (Production)
PL/SQL Version 8.0.6.0.0 (Production)
Oracle Procedure Builder V6.0.8.17.0 Build #863 - Production
PL/SQL Editor (c) WinMain Software (www.winmain.com), v1.0 (Production)
Oracle Query Builder 6.0.7.1.0 - Production
Oracle Virtual Graphics System Version 6.0.5.38.0 (Production)
Oracle Tools GUI Utilities Version 6.0.8.20.1 (Production)
Oracle Multimedia Version 6.0.8.20.0 (Production)
Oracle Tools Integration Version 6.0.8.18.0 (Production)
Oracle Tools Common Area Version 6.0.8.18.0
Oracle CORE Version 4.0.6.0.0 - Production
She's having trouble compiling a form. In comparing her PC with another (working) PC, the only difference is in the third line.
Her's is: PL/SQL Version 8.0.6.0.0 (Production)
The working PC is: PL/SQL Version 8.0.6.3.0 (Production)
How do I "upgrade" this?

Well, that database is very much out of date, and I don't even think you'd be able to easily get the patches from Oracle any more as they haven't supported that version for many years now. If you have a support contract with Oracle you could try asking for the relevant patch.
Other than that, you're looking at upgrading the database to something more recent and supported.

Thank you for the quick response. Yes, it's true it is an old database, but that's what we're using here. I used Patch12 which I thought was the most recent patch.

She's having trouble compiling a form.
Aside from the ancient software you have, you never told us what the trouble is.
An error message? A syntax error? Something else?

She's tried several different scenarios and still is not able to compile a "XXFPQLTR" form.
It still appears to be something with the xxfps_price_pkg package in the get_rates procedure. If she comments out the line below it won't blow her out of forms.
If it's in there, it tells her it's encountered an error, and closes forms with a non-descript error message.
She attempted to hit 'debug' instead of 'close' when she got the forms error, and it did not provide herwith any further information .... it just blew up.
Forms is only blowing up when she tries to compile a form that accesses pl/sql tables . If we take out the procedure that has the pl/sql she can compile the form.

Forms is not PL/SQL and PL/SQL is not forms. Yes, somewhat common language. No, very different as one runs on the client (Forms) and the other runs on the server (PL/SQL).
And this is a PL/SQL forums - not Forms. So answers will tend to be about PL/SQL and not Forms. Make sure you do not mistake these as answers for Forms.
In your sho3s.. I would dump Forms in favour of using Oracle 11gr2 with Apex.I've applied Patch12 to no avail
So, what is your PL/SQL Version now that you've applied Patch 12?
Patch12 is not the latest patch but but Patch17 is
True, but you always want your development environments to match your production environment. If Prod is currently at Patch 12, then Patch 12 should be installed on ALL developer workstations.
It is entirely possible that the problem is truly isolated to this one workstation. Have you tried performing a complete Unistall/Install of the Developer Suite (DS) 6i? With version 6i, I also found running Microsoft's RegClean tool often cleared up issues with the DS 6i. Microsoft no longer supports RegClean, but you can find it on the internet.
you can put the code in a database procedure instead of a Forms procedureIf things still don't work after all this, I agree with InoL, perhaps the best option would be to move your logic to a database procedure and call the DB procedure from your Form.
Out of curiosity, what is your Workstation operating system?
