SQL Exception in JDBC driver

Hi,
I try to use Access db with Jdev, it looks connection ok and I see the tables in the structure window, but when I try to create the Business components via the vizard, it gives SQL Syntax Error for the missing operator in query expression. and I can't see the tables in the lated dialogs.
"((object_type='TABLE')) MINUS SELECT table_name, owner from all_snapshots"
The vizard quite simple but is there a chance that i miss something. Any help is appreciated.

Hi,
It looks like you selected Oracle as your jdbc type. This will not work for non oracle jdbc connections.
If you are connecting to Access, you probably want to use a more generic jdbc type.
Check out http://otn.oracle.com/products/jdev/howtos/bc4j/bc_foreign_db_intro.html for details on connecting to foreign datasources.
Thanks,
Pete

  • SQL Server 2005 JDBC Driver

    I am trying to set up the Master Repository with the MS SQL Server 2005 JDBC Driver. I copied the sqljdbc.jar file into the /drivers directory, but it is not appearing in the drop down list. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.
    EDIT: I have solved the problem by looking at the instructions in the Thread: "Not able to estabish connection with SQLServer2005 from the Topology Manage" At first glance I did not think this would relate to my issue.

    Hi,
    The driver will not appear in the list, but you can do this way.
    JDBC driver MS SQL Server 2005 :
    com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerDriver
    URL MS SQL Server 2005 :
    jdbc:sqlserver://localhost:1433;selectMethod=cursor;databaseName=xyz;integratedSecurity=false
    Hopefully it solve your problem..

    Hi Yasir,
    1. It should be OK.
    (2. Check the requirement to see if you have everything)

  • MS SQL Server 2000 JDBC driver and databasename

    Hi,
    I have tried to switch from using WebLogic jDriver for MS SQL Server to using
    MS SQL Server 2000 JDBC Driver as recommended by Bea for WebLogic 7.0. I can get
    the connection pooling to work with the new driver but I cannot get it to work
    for certain database. It seems to always connect to the defaul database even though
    I specify the database in console with property databasename=DBNAME. Any ideas
    what could be wrong?
    Thanks!
    Cheers,
    Jouni

    We had this working fine with WLS7, this is the entry from our config.xml
    <JDBCConnectionPool DriverName="com.microsoft.jdbc.sqlserver.SQLServerDriver"
    InitialCapacity="50" MaxCapacity="50" Name="SQLServerConnectionPool" Password="{3DES}UkODkM1JaCU="
    Properties="user=Destin8;SelectMethod=cursor;databaseName=Destin8V3" ShrinkingEnabled="false"
    Targets="Destin8Cluster1" URL="jdbc:microsoft:sqlserver://mcp1:1433"/>
    Hope this helps..

  • New SQL Server 2005 JDBC Driver

    Dear All,
    I am grasping for straws here. I have a very strange issue with
    the new Microsoft JDBC driver (Microsoft SQL Server 2005 JDBC Driver).
    I have a couple of strange things happenning when I am using this driver,
    but the most critical one is that the application literally hangs
    executing a readObject statement:
    ExpressionBuilder trp= new ExpressionBuilder();
    Expression exp1 = trp.get("ID").equal(ID);
    getDatabaseSession().readObject(Trip.class, exp1);
    I can see that it actually executes the statement, then hangs.
    Any ideas would be greatly appreciated
    I am using 10g Release 3 (10.1.3.0.0) (Build 060118)

    Are you able to get a thread dump to see where the threads are?

  • Windows Authentication using Microsoft SQL Server 2005 JDBC Driver

    Hi,
    I am using Microsoft SQL Server 2005 JDBC Driver to connect to SQL Server 2000 database, can anyone tell me the connection URL for windows authentication. SQL authentication is working fine.
    DataDirect has drivers for windows authentication but I am not using it.
    Regards
    Arup

    You can't do it with the Microsoft driver. There's a free driver called jTDS that may be able to (I don't know).
    (edit) Looking at their FAQ it looks like it does:

  • Microsoft SQL Server 2005 JDBC Driver

    Hi
    how can i use Microsoft SQL Server 2005 JDBC Driver to coonect to db???

    com.microsoft.jdbc.sqlserver.SQLServerDriver is a SQL Server 2000 class.
    Also the port setting in the connection url jdbc:sqlserver://localhost:<port> is not 1433 as in SQL Server 2000.
    In the connection URL, <port> is obtained from the SQL Server configuration Manager. When the SQL Server 2005 is restarted the port number changes.
    To obtain the <port> in the SQL Server Configuration Manager select the node SQL Server 2005 Network Configuration>Protocols. Right-click on TCP/IP node and select Properties. Select the IP Addresses tab. In IP ALL the TCP Dynamic Ports specifies the <port> value.

  • Problem in Java Application Server 7 2004 Q2 + MS SQL 2000 + MS JDBC Driver

    I have two applications runing on window 2000 server + Sun Java System Applilcation Server and connect to SQL Server 2000 + window 2000 server.
    The JDBC driver is Microsoft JDBC type 4.
    Both of them are with Local, Remote Ejb and session beans.
    All of the ejbs have a unique jndi name. Each app has its only ejbs.
    The problem I am facing is that If I deploy one of them, only one, every thing is fine.
    However, If I deploy both of them , only one of them works.
    I started the app server serval times. However, every time I got a different fail app.
    For example, I got the following error message:

    Hi again, Thanks for the reply!,
    I understand the part that you mentionned about specifying the database name. That is not what is causing me a problem : I was reffering to an instance. A new feature of MS SQL server 2000 -> you can have multiple SQL server instances, which means that each will have its own set of databases. Kinda like having multiple virtual servers but on the same machine. With ODBC, you can connect to the DEFAULT instance by just specifying the server name only. When you try to connect to a non default instance in ODBC you must specify it like this : '\\server_name\instance_name.'. I have found no way to do this with the type 4 MS driver (writting it like this : '//server/instance' or any other way was unsuccessful). Does anyone know how to do this or if it can be done with the MS driver???

  • Sql server 2000 JDBC driver

    I installed the Jdbc driver for sql server 2000 and set the classpath. When when I was trying to
    connect to the sql server database from a java program, I kept getting the following error;
    There was an error connecting to the DataSource: java.sql.SQLException: [Microsoft][SQLServer 2000 Driver for JDBC][SQLServer]Login failed for user 'jet123'. Reason: Not associated with a trusted SQL Server connection.
    The whole scenario is like this:
    I have a sql server 2000 installed in my windows 2000 machine, and I created a MISM\myBase server under the SQL Server group, where MISM is the name of my machine, and myBase is the name of the sql server. Under the MISM\myBase server I created a database named "Aromatherapy". I added new login(username:jet123, passwd:1001) to the MISM\myBase server and also added user jet123 to the Aromatherapy database. The login(jet123, 1001) is my user name and passwd to my windows machine and has the administrator privillege.
    Here is the code:
    Class.forName("com.microsoft.jdbc.sqlserver.SQLServerDriver");
    Connection connection = DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:microsoft:sqlserver://128.2.76.102:1433;databasename=Aromatherapy;user=jet123;password=1001");
    Could anyone help?
    Thanks,
    David

    make sure that user jet123 access to the sql server used by ms-sql queryanlayzer
    not?
    first check if your sql authentication mode is windows and sql server
    or, allow the permistion to jet123 to access the database, by ordinary to be db_owner.

  • Sql.exception using jdbc:odbc Sqlserver 7

    hi
    i use java jdk 1.3 and sqlserver 7.0 on windows98 and establish a connection over jbc:odbc. I use executeUpdate() statement and insert something to a table. there is a trigger defined and sometimes i got an sql.exception, that no rowcount returned.
    can you help me ?
    thanks jens

    The trigger does a rollback in some cases.
    Obviously - try this out! - this causes that JDBC exception then.
    Now I see a problem in this, that the trigger does rollbacks concering the connection, but your Java program does not know that its connection's actual transaction has been rolled back. Imagine, if you have done several steps before without commitng yet, they are rolled back as well.
    So I would use this only with AutoCommit set to true.
    I think it's not a good idea in general to let a trigger do a rollback. But in this area I have few experiences.
    I assume you have to use this table schema and its trigger definition and can't change it.
    So I would find out the error code which this DBException contains.
    So in case of exceptions you can identify if this case has happened and react on it in your logic. You must interpretate this as an error or maybe as an expected condition - that depends on your logic.
    Another thought: can't you validate the values before you do the insert. Then this logic would not longer be encapsulated in the trigger, but maybe it is really a validation rule which the program should know anyway. What do you tell the user if it has occured?

  • Microsoft SQL Server 7 JDBC Driver

    Anyone know where I can download a good JDBC driver for Microsoft SQL Server 7. Thanks.

    Maybe just use Sun's JDBC-ODBC bridge?That driver should not be used in production code, it is a reference implemenation only. Look here instead:

  • Does Microsoft SQL Server 2k JDBC Driver SP3 support "trusted connections"?

    I get the following error when attempting to connect to a SQL Server instance via JDBC :-
    [Microsoft][SQLServer 2000 Driver for JDBC][SQLServer]Login failed for user '<username>'. Reason: Not associated with a trusted SQL Server connection.
    Does Microsoft SQL Server 2000 JDBC SP3 Driver support "trusted connections"?

    No, the MSDE instance I'm trying to connect to from my J2 application is configured as "Integrated Windows Authentication" ONLY (i.e not "mixed mode" and deliberately so) hence my search for a JDBC driver that supports o/s-based authentication.
    I appear to have found one now however at it appears that DataDirect's JDBC driver supports NTLM and Kerberos authenicaiton on Windows (although I haven't got it working yet).
    Thanks for your reply tho'

  • Connecting to MS SQL 2005 via JDBC Driver

    I have an application in which I use Java to abstract
    database elements as objects and handle most of the server-side
    processing. This is done by creating a Java object via
    CreateObject(). The Java then connects to a MS SQL 2005 database
    using the JDBC 1.1 Driver.
    The following tutorial explains how to set this up:
    http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/knowledgebase/index.cfm?id=ded4216b.
    It instructs you to create a Data Source, much like how you
    typically would in "regular" ColdFusion applications. Then, using
    some simple Java, I am successfully able to connect to the
    database, query it, and get results. The connection code is
    attached.
    As you can see, I am still passing all the connection
    parameters to the Database class constructor. My question is: how
    would I go about connecting to the database by simply using the
    Data Source Name, as you would, again, in "regular" ColdFusion
    applications. Is this possible at all?
    Thanks!

    Thanks for the input guys.
    Perhaps I did not explain my intent very clearly. What I am
    trying to accomplish is have a vast majority of the server-side
    code done in Java. With that, I would be able to do things like:
    <cfset myUser = CreateObject("java", "User").init(5)>
    <cfoutput>#myUser.getFirstName()#</cfoutput>
    However, unless I am able to connect to the database in Java
    (which I currently AM able to do, but just not quite the way I want
    to), I would have to run all the queries in CF and then pass them
    to the different objects so that they can then process the query
    results. This isn't a very smart thing to do, seeing that it binds
    me to a lot of CF while I am trying use it as little as possible
    (session management and user interface "tier" only).
    So no, I am not going all out with Java just to avoid passing
    username/password, but instead to use true OOP instead of CF
    Components. I realize ColdFusion too passes this info, but it does
    not show up in the source code, which is precisely what I need to
    do, but with Java.
    Basically, I have everything working the way I need now,
    except I need to be able to connect using a data source name rather
    than passing the parameters, if at all possible.
