SQL*LOADER connection issue

I have oracle 9i installed, if i'm to connect to the database using the sys account i getv a message saying have to connect as sysdba or sysoper. Ok so i use "username/password@database as sysdba", and that works fine i'm able to connect. But this does not work at the inital login screen, i have to connect as using this other account i created then log in useing the string above. My problem is now im using SQL*LOADER to load data into a table and it won't accept the connection string. If it use that connction string listed above i get the error "ORA-12154:could not resolve service name" and if i remove "as sysdba" from the end of the string i get error "ORA-01017: invalid username/password". I use to be able to just log on with just "sys" username is there any way to change it back or any other way to log on to SQL*LOADER. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

When you are working with SQL*Loader, SQL*Plus and other utilities you can specify what is the database to be connected through local naming (client, server ) or seeting an enviroment variable in the session. If you are getting connection in the server and you have problems resolving local naming, I recommend you to do this:
1.- Set the ORACLE_SID enviroment variable and do not use local naming resolving with tnsnames.ora entries
2.- Configure very well the tnsnames.ora & sqlnet.ora files to get connection.
If you are working directly in the server the first option is easier.
Setting the variable in Windows:
SET ORACLE_SID=<database_sid>
Setting the variable in Unix/Linux:
export ORACLE_SID=<database_sid>
if you need more help to do this step by step I can help you.

  • SQL Server Connection Issue

I've tried going through the steps to resolve the issue, but I am still coming up blank. The part that I am not understanding is the, "A non-recoverable error occurred during a database lookup." part.
Is this a security problem? I can establish an ODBC connection to the server as well as connect and query through visual studio, however when trying to run it through one of our custom programs, it throws this error message.
A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider:
TCP Provider, error: 0 - A non-recoverable error occurred during a database lookup.)

There are many reasons of SQL server connectivity issue. Refer checklist to find out the real cause of connectivity issue.
    1. Check SQL services are running
    2. Check SQL Browser service is running
    3. Check remote connections are enabled
    4. Network connectivity between database & application servers by TRACERT command
    5. Check TCP/IP protocol enabled at SQL server
    6. Check talent connectivity – telnet <IP address> <port no on SQL server running>
    7. Check UDP port 1434 is open or not on SQL Server
    8. Check firewall is running or not Check
    9. If firewall running, SQL Server & UDP port must be added in exception in firewall
    10. Run SQL Discovery report on machine SQL server installed, to check you are using correct instance name to connect( default \named) -http://mssqlfun.com/2013/02/26/sql-server-discovery-report/

  • Sql Server Connection Issues

After reinstalling Windows Server 2008 R2 EE my SQL 2008 R2 Sp2 Instances have some connection issues.
The server were installed under the same hostname, but he got a new sid in my active directory.
On the server there one DB Engine MSSQLSERVER, two named Reporting Services for MS crm 4.0 and SCOM and one Analysis Services Instance.
The DB Engine will collect Data from another DB, before writing to Analysis Services.
Here are the problems on the server:
When I connect via SSMS remotly, I sometimes get this error: Failed to connect to server <hostname> ... Named Pipes Provider, error 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server - Error 5
Both RS Instances have many event log errors like "Report Server (Instance) cannot connect to the report server database.". RS Reports are working fine, but sometimes the rendering is taking a long
    time.
The DB Engine Agent Job to collect Data sometimes throw the following error: An OLE DB error has occurred. Error code: 0x80004005.  An OLE DB record is available.  Source: "Microsoft SQL Server Native Client 10.0"  Hresult:
0x80004005  Description: "Unable to complete login process due to delay in opening server connection".  End Error  Error: 2013-12-10 06:03:40.41     Code: 0xC00291EC
User use Excel to connect to the Cube on my server. Often they got timeout errors. When they connect again it will work.
Are there any solutons on this?
    Thanks a lot!

    Hello,
The server were installed under the same hostname, but he got a new sid in my active directory.
Did you connect to SQL Server instance with Windows authentication? Since the SID of domain account is changed, the SQL Server instace may cannot verify the login account which stored in the master with old SID. In that case, please try to connect
SQL Server with SQL authentication and then readd the domian as login the instance.

Only thing I can think of is there is some character set issue between the control file and the operating syste/oracle server.
You did you create the control file using a text based editor such as notepad or wordpad didn't you? You haven't used something like MS Word?

  • Sql Server Connectivity issue with ODI Data Profiler

    Hi all,
To profile data from SQL Server Data source, i had created a ODBC connection(using Windows NT authentication) in the system and it was successful. Created a connection with Type ODBC connection in Loader Connections along with System name, Port No and DSN Name. But while trying to connect the database it is throwing an error as Authentication Failed. Please guide me.

ODI's DP does not support the use of sourcing data on the ODBC data source. You must extract to a file, and use the file as the input.

  • SQL*Loader-500 Issue

    Hello
Using Oracle 11g, I am trying to load a table from data in csv files with oracle SQL Loader,
    table : purchase
    control file : purchase.ctl
Even if I am giving the right path for control file I still get the error :
SQL*Loader-500: Unable to open file (purchase.dat)
    SQL*Loader-553: file not found
SQL*Loader-509: System error: The system cannot find the file specifiedSo why is SQL Loader looking for the file purchase.dat??
    Any help is appreciated

Talend is the right solution to load data. Now about your problem, have you configured Talend in order to transfer the data? Because Talend can easily transfer the files.
Maybe you might be able to go to the Talend website to get more information there: http://www.talend.com/

  • SQL*Loader permission issue?

I have set up a run_all script on LINUX to invoke SQL*Loader for each table to be loaded. I can run this as the Oracle owner just fine. When I try to let the developer run this on dev, they get the following:
    SQL*Loader: Release 9.2.0.1.0 - Production on Tue Apr 25 08:55:18 2006
Copyright (c) 1982, 2002, Oracle Corporation. All rights reserved.

    ORA-01034: ORACLE not available
ORA-27121: unable to determine size of shared memory segment
    Linux Error: 13: Permission denied
They can use SQL*Plus on the command line with the userid and password from the SQL*Loader file. I don't want to have to run these for them every time, so any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Has the same ORACLE_HOME variable value of the Oracle owner and the developer?

  • SQL*Loader output issue

    Hi,
When I load a flat file with SQL*Loader (V 8.1.7 on Windows), I get output something like,
Commit point reached - logical record count 2352
Commit point reached - logical record count 2364
Commit point reached - logical record count 2376
Commit point reached - logical record count 2388
Commit point reached - logical record count 2400
If I want to change this, say I want this message for each 1000 records inserted, how can I do that?
I have tried options line bindsize or rows, but looks like they are for changing internal operation, but not this screen output.
Off course, I am talking about conventional path load.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

set rows=1000 and increase the bindsize drastically.
    From the docs here
If that size fits within the bind array maximum, the load continues--SQL*Loader does not try to expand the number of rows to reach the maximum bind array size. If the number of rows and the maximum bind array size are both specified, SQL*Loader always uses the smaller value for the bind array.

  • Sql loader -  to_date() issue

How do I load the date field from the CSV *"03-Dec-09 10.06.58.00 PM"* into oracle tables using sql loader ?
The contol file is as follows:
    LOAD DATA
    INTO TABLE
    CUSTOMER
FIELDS TERMINATED BY ',' OPTIONALLY ENCLOSED BY '"'
    (CUST_ID,
    ORDER_DATE "to_date(:ORDER_DATE, 'DD-MON-YY HH:MI:SS.TT AM')"
but it doesn't work, I also tried _ORDER_DATE "DD/MM/YYYY"_ with no luck, any suggestion ?
I am kind of new in using SQL LOADER.
    thanks.

The CSV sample you provided uses " *.* " in the time-component [ 10.06.58.00 ] while your SQL Loader Control file is expecting " *:* " [ HH:MI:SS.TT ]. These two formats are obviously not the same. Update your control file and try again.
    CUST_ID, ORDER_DATE
    1,03-Dec-10 10.06.58.00 PM
    2,03-Dec-09 10.07.18.00 PM
    3,03-Dec-11 04.07.18.00 AM

    LOAD DATA

It looks to me like it is getting manually copied and pasted from notepad with line wrap turned on. You really need to address why the data is being wrapped across multiple lines (records).

  • Open SQL Oracle Connection Issue

Sorry for creating mutiple threads. I was having internet issue and for some reason i click save 4 times it save it 4 times. I try to delete the rest of the thread i was not able to.. sorry.
    Hi,
I am trying to connect to a Oracle staging area to load data to Essbase. I am running Essbase 11.1.2 on UNIX. I have the tnsnames entry entry for the staging area. So, i create a load rule and select Open SQL to create the connection the to staging area. I read in the Oracle document that I have to enter $OCI$<SERVICE NAME> when enter the user and password to the database i'm getting this error:
Error: 1021090 Can not load EssOCI shared library [libessociS.a]. Make sure that the required binaries are present with correct environment variables set
Does anybody have any ideas the issue is? Do you have to create an ODBC connection on the essbase that points to the staging area? I'm not sure if I had to create an ODBC connection when I was working on with SQL when Essbase was running on Windows.

    RAM: 16 GB
    Thanks in advance...

It says clearly ofcourse need to check so-
    the client tried to connect to an unsupported version of SQL Server;
    >>check what version of client tools you are using for ex- you can connect sql2005 from 2008 but reverse is not possible (ofcouse it will gives complete info) or you are using one which is not the right version tool,
the server was too busy to accept new connections; or there was a resource limitation (insufficient memory or maximum allowed connections) on the server.
    >>Check during that time what was the lad on the server like cpu,mem or other issues.
    check in the sql errorlog.
(provider: TCP Provider, error: 0 - An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host.) (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 10054)"
    check ->Troubleshooting: Connection Forcibly Closed
