SQL Query Problem using APEX!!

I want to make a report based on 4 text fields and 2 select lists. I can make the report based on P1_SENDER and P1_RECEIVER but i can´t combine the results all together (P1_SENDER, P1_RECEIVER, P1_DATE, P1_SUBJECT, P1_HOUR1, P1_HOUR2)
Here´s the query:
select "EXCHANGE"."DATE_EX" as "DATE_EX",
"EXCHANGE"."HOUR_EX" as "HOUR_EX",
"EXCHANGE"."RECEIVER" as "RECEIVER",
"EXCHANGE"."SENDER" as "SENDER",
"EXCHANGE"."SUBJECT" as "SUBJECT"
from "EXCHANGE" "EXCHANGE"
where "EXCHANGE"."DATE_EX" =(:P1_DATE)
or "EXCHANGE"."HOUR_EX" BETWEEN (:P1_HOUR1) AND (:P1_HOUR2)
or "EXCHANGE"."RECEIVER" =(:P1_RECEIVER)
or "EXCHANGE"."SENDER" =(:P1_SENDER)
or "EXCHANGE"."SUBJECT" LIKE('%:P1_SUBJECT%')
The P1_SUBJECT field must allow the user to search for any kind of word and the P1_HOUR1 and the P1_HOUR2 represents an interval of time. Is the syntax right? What am i doing wrong? The results of this query appear all scrambled.

I think the condition you want on the subject should be written as:
or "EXCHANGE"."SUBJECT" LIKE '%' || :P1_SUBJECT || '%'

  • SQL query problem using analytical/report function

    Hello there,
    I am having some problem writing my query. I have this table below:
                  create table t (priority number,
                                  plannedamount number,
                                  availablepieces number,
                                  material_id varchar2(20))
    insert into t values (1, 15, 30, 'A');
    insert into t values (2, 20, 30, 'A');
    insert into t values (3, 5, 30, 'A');
    insert into t values (4, 8, 30, 'A');
    insert into t values (5, 4, 30, 'A');
    insert into t values (1, 2, 10, 'B');     PRIORITY|     PLANNED AMOUNT|AVAILABLE PIECES |     MATERIAL_ID
         1      15     30 A
         2      20     30 A

         4      8 30 A
         5      4     30 A
         1      2     30 B .
    Each line is a customer order ordering a material. I am grouping by material and ordering it by priority. I want to display a new column called pieces not reserved yet. This column will show that if the order can be fully reserved for that current order ordering by priority.
    If the row can be reserved it will substract and bring it to the next row. If it cannot the pieces not reserved will remain the same.
    I've tried using sum(), lead(), first(), lag(), etc but I still cannot get the correct result.
         PRIORITY|     PLANNED AMOUNT|PIECES NOT RESERVED YET |     MATERIAL_ID
         1      15     30 A
         2      20     15 A

         4      8     10 A
         5      4     2 A
         1      2     30 B
    Can anyone elaborate or have any hints on what method to use to create this column?
    Thanks. .

  • SQL Query (PL/SQL function body returning SQL query) when using to_char

    we are trying to build a report page of Type SQL Query (PL/SQL function body returning SQL query).
    our query is so simple, we need to extract the month from the recording_date column.
    declare
    l_query varchar2(1000);
    begin
    l_query:='select to_char(recording_date,'MM')from re_productive';
    return l_query;
    end;
    but we are having the following problem for this query
    Function returning SQL query: Query cannot be parsed within the Builder. If you believe your query is syntactically correct, check the generic columns checkbox below the region source to proceed without parsing.
    (ORA-06550: line 4, column 42: PLS-00103: Encountered the symbol "MON" when expecting one of the following: . ( * @ % & = - + ; < / > at in is mod remainder not rem <> or != or ~= >= <= <> and or like between || multiset member SUBMULTISET_ The symbol ". was inserted before "MON" to continue.)
    Notes:
    1-the query is correct and it was tested under Toad and SQL Plus.
    2- we tried Use Generic Column Names (parse query at runtime only) option but we get the same problem.
    any quick help please.

    Hi
    You haven't escaped your quotes in the string. Try this...
    DECLARE
    l_query VARCHAR2(32767);
    BEGIN
    l_query:= 'select to_char(recording_date,''MM'') from re_productive';
    RETURN l_query;
    END;Cheers

  • A challenging dynamic SQL query problem

    hi All,
    I have a very interesting problem at work:
    We have this particular table defined as follows :
    CREATE TABLE sales_data (
    sales_id NUMBER,
    sales_m01 NUMBER,
    sales_m02 NUMBER,
    sales_m03 NUMBER,
    sales_m04 NUMBER,
    sales_m05 NUMBER,
    sales_m06 NUMBER,
    sales_m07 NUMBER,
    sales_m08 NUMBER,
    sales_m09 NUMBER,
    sales_m10 NUMBER,
    sales_m11 NUMBER,
    sales_m12 NUMBER,
    sales_prior_yr NUMBER );
    The columns 'sales_m01 ..... sales_m12' represents aggregated monthly sales, in which 'sales_m01' translates to 'sales for the month of january, january being the first month, 'sales_m02' sales for the month of february, and so on.
    The problem I face is that we have a project which requires that a parameter be passed to a stored procedure which stands for the month number which is then used to build a SQL query with the following required field aggregations, which depends on the parameter passed :
    Sample 1 : parameter input: 4
    Dynamically-built SQL query should be :
    SELECT
    SUM(sales_m04) as CURRENT_SALES,
    SUM(sales_m01+sales_m02+sales_m03+sales_m04) SALES_YTD
    FROM
    sales_data
    WHERE
    sales_id = '0599768';
    Sample 2 : parameter input: 8
    Dynamically-built SQL query should be :
    SELECT
    SUM(sales_m08) as CURRENT_SALES,
    SUM(sales_m01+sales_m02+sales_m03+sales_m04+
    sales_m05+sales_m06+sales_m07+sales_m08) SALES_YTD
    FROM
    sales_data
    WHERE
    sales_id = '0599768';
    So in a sense, the contents of SUM(sales_m01 ....n) would vary depending on the parameter passed, which should be a number between 1 .. 12 which corresponds to a month, which in turn corresponds to an actual field range on the table itself. The resulting dynamic query should only aggregate those columns/fields in the table which falls within the range given by the input parameter and disregards all the remaining columns/fields.
    Any solution is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.

    Hi another simpler approach is using decode
    try like this
    SQL> CREATE TABLE sales_data (
      2  sales_id NUMBER,
      3  sales_m01 NUMBER,
      4  sales_m02 NUMBER,
      5  sales_m03 NUMBER,
      6  sales_m04 NUMBER,
      7  sales_m05 NUMBER,
      8  sales_m06 NUMBER,
      9  sales_m07 NUMBER,
    10  sales_m08 NUMBER,
    11  sales_m09 NUMBER,
    12  sales_m10 NUMBER,
    13  sales_m11 NUMBER,
    14  sales_m12 NUMBER,
    15  sales_prior_yr NUMBER );
    Table created.
    SQL> select * from sales_data;
      SALES_ID  SALES_M01  SALES_M02  SALES_M03  SALES_M04  SALES_M05  SALES_M06  SALES_M07  SALES_M08  SALES_M09  SALES_M10  SALES_M11  SALES_M12 SALES_PRIOR_YR

  • Problem using apex lib

    Hi all,
    I have installed apex 3.1, on 11.2.0.2 db.
    but am not able to use apex libraries,
    STEPS FOLLOWED :
    DOWNLOAD:
    •     GO TO THIS LINK
    http://apexlib.oracleapex.info/
    •     Click  download .
    Install into its own APEXLIB schema
    This installation option works with all Oracle APEX versions.
    Just one copy of the views and packages are installed, they will be accessable for all APEX applications.
    •     Open a command box.
    Eg on Windows Start/Execute => cmd
    •     Change into the directory "Scripts"
    cd Scripts
    •     Connect with SYS to create the APEXLIB schema. See ApexLib_create_apexlib_schema.sql why SYS and not an user with DBA privileges is required.
    sqlplus "sys/password@database as sysdba"
       (note if u have a exixting tablespace then use that else make
        a new tablespace using
    Create tablespace <tablespace_name> data file ‘path/<schema_name.dbf>’ size 1024m;)
    •     Execute the following script to create the schema APEXLIB and all the necessary privileges
    @ApexLib_create_apexlib_schema.sql
    Create new schema :
    Give a password:
    Give a existing tablespace name:
    ========================================================================
    . Enter the schema name for the ApexLib Framework.
    . eg: APEXLIB or APEXLIB_0101 (ApexLib v1.01)
    Enter value for apexlib_schema_name: APEXLIB
    . Enter the password for APEXLIB schema.
    Enter value for apexlib_schema_password: APEXLIB
    . Enter tablespace for APEXLIB schema.
    . eg: USERS or any other existing tablespace.
    Enter value for apexlib_tablespace: APEXLIB
    . Enter temporary tablespace for APEXLIB schema.
    . eg: TEMP or any other existing temporary tablespace.
    Enter value for apexlib_temp_tablespace: TEMP
    ========================================================================
         5.Run  all script in datamodel folder
          connect to the database using APEXLIB/APEXLIB
    6.Execute the following installation scripts: (connected as APEXLIB schema)
    1.     @ApexLib_install_into_apexlib_schema.sql
    2.     @ApexLib_grant_create_synonyms.sql
    When asked enter PUBLIC
    ==================================================================
    SQL> @ApexLib_grant_create_synonyms.sql
    Start granting and creating synonyms for the ApexLib Framework to
    . other APEX application schemas.
    . Note: The script executed successfully if you see the prompt
    .       "Script finished."
    . Enter the application schema or PUBLIC to grant and
    . create synonyms for. Eg SCOTT
    Enter value for schema_name: PUBLIC
    =====================================================================
    7. connect as application schema name
          connect to the database using your Application Schema
    @ApexLib_integrate_into_application.sql
    =====================================================================
    . Enter the ID of the application: (eg. 104)
    Enter value for add_to_application_id: 102
    ... add application process ApexLib_getGenericResult
    ... add application process ApexLib-Before Computation/Validation
    ... add application item APEXLIB_REFERENCE_ID
    ... add application item APEXLIB_REFERENCE_TYPE
    ... add application item APEXLIB_ROUTINE_TYPE
    ... add Page 0
    ... add Page0 region: Page 0 - ApexLib - Javascript/CSS
    ... add Page0 region: Page 0 - ApexLib - Before Footer
    ... add Page0 region: Page 0 - ApexLib - Handle Error Page
    ... add Error-Page-Template
    ... add include of ApexLib_Lov.js at Popup LOV Template
    ========================================================================
    ==========================================================================================================================================
    if any errors then follow the follwing steps
    (down from the step 5)
    For faster execution, ApexLib can directly access (select only) the APEX repository tables in the FLOWS_xxx schema
    or it can use the APEX repository views if there are security concerns to grant read access to the FLOWS_xxx tables.
    Note: From APEX 3.2 on tables reside in Schema APEX_xxx
        Fast direct table access (works for all APEX versions)
            Execute the following script:
            @ApexLib_grant_apex_tables.sql
            Connect with the APEXLIB schema.
            connect apexlib/password@database
            Execute the following script:
            @../DataModel/ApexLib_views_for_apex_tables.sql
        Access through the slower APEX repository views (only works with APEX version > 2.2.x)
            Connect with the APEXLIB schema.
            connect apexlib/password@database
            Execute the following script:
            For 3.x and 4.x:
            @../DataModel/ApexLib_views_for_apex_views_30.sql
            For 2.2.x:
            @../DataModel/ApexLib_views_for_apex_views_22.sql
    then step 7everything went fine, even page 0 is available, but not able to use cascade lov.
    i have done the same thing few months ago, it went fine with no errors/problems(complete installation from scratch).
    Any suggestions...,
    Regards,
    Littlefoot

    Hi,
    can you tell a little more about how "doesn't work" looks like?
    Are there any error messages in the Javascript Console?
    What does the Debug-Output tell you?

    This query will never work. I marked only couple of errors you have there. Actually,
    I meant "formating" errors rather than "syntactical" errors. You are missing spaces
    all over the place. This is why I suggested to use a CLOB column in a test table
    to return the query for debugging purposes - this is how I do it at least, when I need
    to escape and concatenate a lot of code.
    If you are referencing item values from a user session in a function or a procedure,
    then you need to use the v('ITEM') syntax instead of :ITEM syntax. However, if the
    output of this procedure will be used as a function returning SQL query, you will
    be fine with :ITEM.

  • How to set fetchsize of sql Query when using Database Adapter.

    Hi All,
    I am using DatabaseAdapter to connect to database and retriving huge amount of data.For improvement in the performance I want to set the "fetchsize" of sql query. I know fetchsize can be preset in Java using Jdbc 2.0 API.Please let me know how to set this value in BPEL when using DBAdapter?
    Thanks
    Chandra

    I talked to the developer of the db adapter - and he told me this feature will be available in BPEL PM 10.1.3 (which is supposed to be production later this year, and a public beta soon). If this is an emergency I would recommend going throug Oracle support and have them file an enhancement for 10.1.2.0.2

  • Column Headings on PL/SQL returning SQL Query report- using br

    Hi,
    I would like to create a report region based upon a function returning a SQL query. As a dem oI have created the following:
    create or replace function xxjk_retsql return varchar2
    as
    begin
    return 'select i "column header" from wwv_flow_dual100';
    end;I want to be able to insert a line break in the column header so it wraps over two lines. I tried this:
    create or replace function xxjk_retsql return varchar2
    as
    begin
    return 'select i "column<br>header" from wwv_flow_dual100';
    end;however when the region is rendered, it appears to strip out the HTML tag. I also tried another tag, <i></i>, as a test and this is stripped out also.
    Is there a way to include a break in a column header in this manner?
    Thank-you,

    There is an option Strip HTML and it is turned on by default. Try changing that to see what happes.

  • SQL Query C# Using Execution Plan Cache Without SP

    I have a situation where i am executing an SQL query thru c# code. I cannot use a stored procedure because the database is hosted by another company and i'm not allowed to create any new procedures. If i run my query on the sql mgmt studio the first time
    is approx 3 secs then every query after that is instant. My query is looking for date ranges and accounts. So if i loop thru accounts each one takes approx 3 secs in my code. If i close the program and run it again the accounts that originally took 3 secs
    now are instant in my code. So my conclusion was that it is using an execution plan that is cached. I cannot find how to make the execution plan run on non-stored procedure code. I have created a sqlcommand object with my queary and 3 params. I loop thru each
    one keeping the same command object and only changing the 3 params. It seems that each version with the different params are getting cached in the execution plans so they are now fast for that particular query. My question is how can i get sql to not do this
    by either loading the execution plan or by making sql think that my query is the same execution plan as the previous? I have found multiple questions on this that pertain to stored procedures but nothing i can find with direct text query code.
    Bob;

    I did the query running different accounts and different dates with instant results AFTER the very first query that took the expected 3 secs. I changed all 3 fields that i've got code for parameters for and it still remains instant in the mgmt studio but
    still remains slow in my code. I'm providing a sample of the base query i'm using.
    select i.Field1, i.Field2,
    d.Field3  'Field3',
    ip.Field4 'Field4',
    k.Field5 'Field5'
    from SampleDataTable1 i,
    SampleDataTable2 k,
    SampleDataTable3 ip,
    SampleDataTable4 d
    where i.Field1 = k.Field1 and i.Field4 = ip.Field4
    i.FieldDate between '<fromdate>' and  '<thrudate>'
    and k.Field6 = <Account>
    Obviously the field names have been altered because the database is not mine but other then the actual names it is accurate. It works it just takes too long in code as described in the initial post.
    My params setup during the init for the connection and the command.
    sqlCmd.Parameters.Add("@FromDate", SqlDbType.DateTime);
            sqlCmd.Parameters.Add("@ThruDate", SqlDbType.DateTime);
            sqlCmd.Parameters.Add("@Account", SqlDbType.Decimal);
    Each loop thru the code changes these 3 fields.
        sqlCommand.Parameters["@FromDate"].Value = dtFrom;
        sqlCommand.Parameters["@ThruDate"].Value = dtThru;
        sqlCommand.Parameters["@Account"].Value = sAccountNumber;
    SqlDataReader reader = sqlCommand.ExecuteReader();
            while (reader.Read())
                reader.Close();
    One thing i have noticed is that the account field is decimal(20,0) and by default the init i'm using defaults to decimal(10) so i'm going to change the init to
       sqlCmd.Parameters["@Account"].Precision = 20;
       sqlCmd.Parameters["@Account"].Scale = 0;
    I don't believe this would change anything but at this point i'm ready to try anything to get the query running faster.
    Bob;

    If any one knows about this one, please let me know.
    Thanks,

    You are aware that there are differences in the SQL implementation between Sqlserver and Oracle? You could try something like this, if there's a INSTR function:
    ORDER BY INSTR('Highest,High,Medium,Low,', Priority || ',')You may have to change the "Priority || ," to a "Priority + ','), if string concatenation is done differently in sqlserver. Don't know about the ('), maybe you need (").

    push the buttons. Often the site freezes up. Also the response time is slow. I was however to access the site from another computer Could it be that a virus has entered into my computer causing the problem, or is a problem with the site itself?
    Yours Michael Stone

    Hello Michael,
    If you can access your site from another computer (with no or other anti-virus software) without any problems, your site seems fine.
    Maybe you can configure your new software not to check certain sites (like your APEX site).

  • SQL Query not using Composite Index

    Hi,
    Please look at the below query:
    SELECT pde.participant_uid
    ,pde.award_code
    ,pde.award_type
    ,SUM(decode(pde.distribution_type
    ,'FORFEITURE'
    ,pde.forfeited_quantity *
    pde.sold_price * cc.rate
    ,pde.distributed_quantity *
    pde.sold_price * cc.rate)) AS gross_Amt_pref_Curr
    FROM part_distribution_exec pde
    ,currency_conversion cc
    ,currency off_curr
    WHERE pde.participant_uid = 4105
    AND off_curr.currency_iso_code =
    pde.offering_currency_iso_code
    AND cc.from_currency_uid = off_curr.currency_uid
    AND cc.to_currency_uid = 1
    AND cc.latest_flag = 'Y'
    GROUP BY pde.participant_uid
    ,pde.award_code
    ,pde.award_type
    In oracle 9i, i"ve executed this above query, it takes 6 seconds and the cost is 616, this is due to non usage of the composite index, Currency_conversion_idx(From_currency_uid, To_currency_uid, Latest_flag). I wonder why this index is not used while executing the above query. So, I've dropped the index and recreated it. Now, the query is using this index. After inserting many rows or say in 1 days time, if the same query is executed, again the query is not using the index. So everyday, the index should be dropped and recreated.
    I don't want this drop and recreation of index daily, I need a permanent solution for this.
    Can anyone tell me, Why this index goes stale after a period of time???? Please take some time and Solve this issue.

    Hi David,
    This is Sankar here. Thankyou for your reply.
    I've got the plan table output for this problematic query, please go thro' it and help me out why the index CURRENCY_CONVERSION_IDX is used now and why it's not using while executing the query after a day or inserting some records...
