SQL Server Plugin settings

I have been searching around and cant seem to find any information on how to define the jdbc url connection string for the SQL Server plugin with a named instance.
I have a SQL2000 server working no problem(no named instance) but I cant seem to get the SQL2005(with named instance) server working.
I have tried
jdbc:sqlserver://hostname:port\instance
jdbc:sqlserver://hostname\instance:port
jdbc:sqlserver://hostname\instance <-using default port
jdbc:sqlserver://hostname\instance:port;instance=instance
jdbc:sqlserver://hostname\instance;instancename=instance
Also should I be using the Microsoft driver or JTDS ?
I get various errors about missing properties[iscluster], its not a cluster. No matter what I think I have an issue with the url since I got the other server working.
Any help would be great
Thanks

Different Microsoft SQL Server instances communicate via different ports.
By default, the default instance communicates via default port 1433.
If your named SQL2005 instance communicates via port, for example, 1437,
the JDBC URL would be:
jdbc:sqlserver://hostname:1437
Do not enter the instance name.
To find the TCP/IP Port for a non-default SQLServer instance, access the registry editor, regedit:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL Server\<Instance Name>\MSSQLServer\SuperSocketNetLib\Tcp
Use the default Microsoft driver.

  • SQL server plugin - cluster?

Ive previously installed a sql server plugin for 11g grid control. works great.
Is there a how-to or a suppoprt note on installing for 2008 SQL server cluster? cant seem to find. In the install guide on the download link for the plugin, the versions supported are listed a
Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Cluster: Active/Active and Active/Passive

SQL Server 2008 R2 is certified on EM 11g, and will also be certified once the EM 12 version of the plug-in is released. We are working on version 2012 and should be certified soon.
Refer to MOS certify for more details.

  • SQL Server Plugin Capabilities

Is it possible to set metrics specific for individual databases within a single instance using the SQL Server plugin? I thought maybe using user defined metrics, but I dont see that supported either. Any help is appreciated.

Are you asking about adding metrics of your own to a particular instance?
Unfortunately, UDMs are only available for Oracle DB target instances and Host instances. You could create a Host UDM for a SQL Server instance residing on the same host, but you'd have to write a script of some sort to get at the information you want.

  • ZCM SQL Server connection settings

Our SQL 2005 server is being hammered by our ZCM servers. When there is a SQL cluster failure, the ZCM servers (5 of them) continually try and reconnect to the SQL server.
The SQL admin guy has asked if there is any kind of setting from the ZCM side for the servers to stop trying after a perioid of time or amout of attempts and retry later rather than
continously trying. We have ZCM 10.3 with SQL 2005 and will be moving to ZCM 11 SP2 and SQL2008, but I want to see if this can be resolved now.
Has anybody else experienced this and has a upgrade resolved the issue or any other options.
    Thanks
    Mark

I do not believe such a setting exists.
However, if the Database is down, I would recommend stopping the ZCM
services on your primaries, which would do the same thing.
Shutting down the ZCM services, will stop Clients from trying to talk to
the servers, which will in essence be broken at this time.

Not sure if you got the plug-in working. If not, read on...
The error is due to failure in internal computation of the SQL Server Host related information.
    Ensure that
    1. All pre-requisites (specified in SQL Server plug-in Installation Guide) are satisfied
    2. Provided property values for discovery of the SQL Server target are correct
    - JDBC URL has correct port number
    - If you are using older version of SQL Server plug-in, the name of SQL Server
instance that you provided is correct

  • SQL Server = Oracle without access to SQL Server

I need to migrate a schema from SQL Server to Oracle but I will not be able to connect to SQL Server to do this. Can migration workbench handle this? What type of export do I need from SQL server and is there any other way to import into Oracle 10g. TIA.

Install the workbench (a zip file) and the appropriate sql server plugin (a jar)
Check out the scripts in Omwb\offline_capture\<plugin name for example SQLServer2K> for all the details in code.
The format is basically <database name>\<meta table name>.dat

  • Upgrade OM 2012 to SP1 Beta - Version of SQL Server for the Operational Database and the Data Warehouse

    Hello,
When I try to verify the prerequisites to upgrade my SCOM 2012 UR2 Platform to SP1 Beta, I have these errors :
The installed version of SQL Server is not supported for the operational database.
The installed version of SQL Server is not supported for the data warehouse.
But when I execute this query Select @@version on my MSSQL Instance, the result is :
    Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 (SP1) - 10.50.2500.0 (X64)   Jun 17 2011 00:54:03   Copyright (c) Microsoft Corporation  Standard Edition (64-bit) on Windows NT 6.1 <X64> (Build 7600: ) (Hypervisor)
    But
here, we can see that :
Microsoft SQL Server: SQL Server SQL 2008 R2 SP1, SQL Server 2008 R2 SP2, SQL Server 2012, SQL Server 2012 SP1, are supported.
Do I need to pach my MSSQL Server with a specific cumulative update package ?
    Thanks.

These are the requirements for your SQL:
SQL Server 2008 and SQL Server 2012 are available in both Standard and Enterprise editions. Operations Manager will function with both editions.
Operations Manager does not support hosting its databases or SQL Server Reporting Services on a 32-bit edition of SQL Server.
Using a different version of SQL Server for different Operations Manager features is not supported. The same version should be used for all features.
SQL Server collation settings for all databases must be one of the following: SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS, French_CI_AS, Cyrillic_General_CI_AS, Chinese_PRC_CI_AS, Japanese_CI_AS, Traditional_Spanish_CI_AS, or Latin1_General_CI_AS.  No other collation
    settings are supported.
The SQL Server Agent service must be started, and the startup type must be set to automatic.
Side-by-side installation of System Center Operations Manager 2007 R2 reporting and System Center 2012 Service Pack 1 (SP1), Operations Manager reporting on the same server is not supported.
The db_owner role for the operational database must be a domain account. If you set the SQL Server Authentication to Mixed mode, and then try to add a local SQL Server login on the operational database, the Data Access service will not be able to start.
For information about how to resolve the issue, see
System Center Data Access Service Start Up Failure Due to SQL Configuration Change
If you plan to use the Network Monitoring features of System Center 2012 – Operations Manager, you should move the tempdb database to a separate disk that has multiple spindles. For more information, see
    tempdb Database.
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj656654.aspx#BKMK_RBF_OperationsDatabase
Check the SQL server agent service and see whether it is set to automatic AND started. This got me confused at my first SP1 install as well. This is not done by default...
It's doing common things uncommonly well that brings succes.

  • Converting Access application after migrating SQL Server database

I have used migration workbench to migrate an access database and application. I now have sql server databases with access applications that need to be migrated. How can I convert the access applications that currently use sql server as a database? I don't see that migration workbench considers this combination.

If you have and Access/SQL Server combination. then download the SQL server plugin appropriate to your version of SQL server. Go ahead and migrate the SQL Server database to Oracle. Once this is done, then update your access application so your link tables point to your newly migrated Oracle database.

    Regards
    sonia

To configure JBoss 4.0 with MS SQL Server database, MS SQL Server driver classes are required in the Classpath.Copy MS SQL Server JDBC driver class jar files mssqlserver.jar, msbase.jar, msutil.jar to the server/default/lib dir. To configure with non-xa MS SQL Server datasource copy /docs/examples/jca/mssql-ds.xml to /server/default/deploy dir. To configure with MS SQL Server XA datasource copy /docs/examples/jca/mssql-xa-ds.xml to /server/default/deploy dir. Modify mssql-ds.xml configuration file. Driver Class and Connection URL settings for MS SQL Server JDBC Drivers
    Driver Class: com.microsoft.jdbc.sqlserver.SQLServerDriverConnection URL:jdbc:microsoft:sqlserver://localhost:1433;
    DatabaseName=MyDatabase
To configure with XA JDBC driver for MS SQL Server modify the mssql-xa-ds.xml configuration file.
Driver Class: com.microsoft.jdbcx.sqlserver.SQLServerDataSourceThe standardjbosscmp-jdbc.xml configuration file is configured with Hypersonic database. To configure JBoss server with MS SQL Server modify /server/default/conf/standardjbosscmp-jdbc.xml configuration file. Set the <datasource> and <datasource-mapping> elements. <jbosscmp-jdbc> <defaults> <datasource>java:/MSSQLDS</datasource> <datasource-mapping>MS SQLSERVER2000</datasource-mapping>
    </defaults>
</jbosscmp-jdbc> Modify login-config.xml configuration file with MS SQL Server
    database settings. Add the following <application-policy/> element to login-config.xml. <application-policy name = "MSSQLDbRealm"> <authentication> <login-module code = "org.jboss.resource.security.ConfiguredIdentityLoginModule" flag = "required"> <module-option name = "principal">sa</module-option> <module-option name = "userName">sa</module-option> <module-option name = "password"></module-option> <module-option name ="managedConnectionFactoryName"> jboss.jca:service=LocalTxCM,name=MSSQLDS

  • Regional settings is not effecting in SQL Server

    Hi All,
I made changes to the regional and language (made decimal = ,) of the windows server 2008 R2 Standard but the database still not accepting comma as a decimal point.
Tried restarting the SQL Server services and restarted the server without luck.
    Really appreciate inputs.
    Thanks,
    Ram.
Please don't forget to Marked as Answer if my post solved your problem and use Vote As Helpful if a post was useful. It will helpful to other users.

    1. Right click on the server name.
    2. Click on Facets.
    3. Then select Server Configuration Facet.
    4. Look for Default Language.
    5. Set it to values as given in the below link:- For Ex: 1 for German
This changes the default language for new users. (And I don't think there is a need to restart of SQL Server, but I have not checked.)
To change the default language for an existing user, use ALTER USER.
But of course, the whole talk about language setting in SQL Server in this context is completely uselss. SQL Server only knows about decimal points. This applies both to literals in the code, and when interpreting strings with CAST/CONVERT.
Everyone is correct that that regional settings does not affect SQL Server - nor should it, it is a server after all.
One more point here when i try creating a filtering functionality on application it is creating decimal as "." not "," is this issue related to application or DB?
I have no idea what you are doing, but the answer is probably the application.

  • Database settings in SQL server

    Hi,
Please provide SAP's recommendations for Database Settings when upgarding to BPC 7
1.Compatibility Level. Should it be (80) or (100)?
    Compatibility Level of 80 = SQL 2000
    Compatibility Level of 90 = SQL 2005
    Compatibility Level of 100 = SQL 2008
    2. Recovery Model (Simple or Full)
    Thanks.
    Raghu

    Hi Raghu,
    For 7.0
SQL Server 2000 is not supported
Compatibility Level of 90 = SQL 2005 if you are using SQL Server 2005
Compatibility Level of 100 = SQL 2008 if you are using SQL Server 2008
    Recovery Model
It is depending by the disaster recovery model which customer would like to implement.
If for the customer lossing data for last 24 hours is an accepted then you can use SINGLE
If for the customer the data lost can be in maximum X hours (X< 24)  then you have to use FULL.(and you have to implement
the backup maintenance plan according with this requirement).
