SQL statements through web based decelopment approach

Hi,
I am using the web based development workbench. I wish to create, insert and select tables using SQL statements only and not through HDBD language. Please let me know how it is possible. as of now, i see a tutorial which makes use of the HDBD language constructs only.
Thanks,
Murali.

Hi Murali,
I assume you are using a HANA Trial instance on HANA Cloud Platform. Also I assume that you already managed the web-base development workbench there.
If you are in the workbench, you can open the catalog view like this (Check for the "plus" symbol in the upper left corner):
In the catalog view, then check the "SQL" Button, again in the upper left corner:
You now have a shell to execute SQL directly.
Please consider: If you are using a HANA Trial instance, certain queries might not work because of missing permissions.
Best,
Thomas.

  • Getting SQL*Net more data from client waits when running a query through web based interface

    Hi, you all,
    We are having this weird behavior when running query through web based interface, we get a lot of "SQL*Net more data from client" waits, the OEM indicates that the current wait event is SQL*Net more data from client
    It's just a very simple query wich invokes a db link.
    When I execute the same query on any PL/SQL tool like toad or sql developer it works fine, but that query inside an application executed through a web based interface, it hangs for ever.
    Where can I start looking for the problem.
    We are working on a 3 Node RAC 11gr2, both databases are on the same RAC.
    Thanks.

    Hi ,
    we managed to reproduce the case in test environment, below are the steps:
    1)have 2 databases on different machines, will call the first one local, the other one remote.
    2)in the local database create:
    a - DBLink to remote database.
    b - read data from remote database(we simply used select count(*) from dummy_table )
    c - insert data into a table on the local database
    d - terminate the connection between the 2 databases (disconnect either machine from the network)
    e - commit on local database.
    what we noticed was the following:
    1)when the local database is disconnected from the network(the machine is not connected to any network at the moment): almost immediately throws an error, and issuing the following:
    select * from dba_2pc_pending;we found some data .
    2) when the remote database was disconnected(the local database is still connected to the network):
    after 7-8 seconds an error is thrown, and issuing the following:
    select * from dba_2pc_pending;did not return any data.
    since this is pretty similar to our case ,we concluded that it's a network issue.
    is this the correct behavior ?
    as a temporary solution till the network issue is fixed ,we did the following:
    1) changed the call of the remote procedure to calling a local procedure that calls the remote procedure.
    2) added pragma autonomous_transaction to the local procedure.
    3) at the end of the local procedure rollback the autonomous transaction.
    it seems that since the global transaction does not use the DBLink database does not issue a 2PC commit.
    this works in my cases since the DBLink is only issed to read data.

  • SQL Statement in Webi 3.x and Webi 4.x

    Hello experts,
    I am facing with a problem regarding an SQL Statement written in Query Panel as a Custom SQL. The bellow statement is executed in Webi 3.x but not in Webi 4.x.. Webi 4.x does not recognize the statement from line 4 (SELECT within a SELECT), but in Webi 3.x everything is OK.
    Have you faced with a similar problem ?
    Thank's a lot for your answers.
    1 SELECT
    2   a.doc_id,
    3   a.doc_type,
    4   (SELECT b.doc_date FROM test b WHERE b.doc_type = 'I' and b.doc_id = a.doc_ref_id)
    5 FROM
    6   test a
    7 WHERE
    8   a.doc_type = 'F'

    Thank you very much for your answer. Very very interesting these links. I will read because I am very curious to find out the answer.
    In the meanwhile, I solved the problem in the following manner:
    SELECT
    a.doc_id,
    a.doc_type,
    b.doc_date
    FROM
    test a,
    (SELECT * FROM test WHERE doc_type = 'I') b
    WHERE
    a.doc_ref_id = b.doc_id and a.doc_type = 'F'
    All the best,

  • BusinessObject 4.0 API to get SQL statement from webi or crystal report

    Hello,
    Need your help.... could you confirm whether BusinessObjects 4.0 provides any SDK, API or Web Service to get physical SQL statement from the webi or crystal reports file?
    If so, could you provide name of package, class and method?
    If I am not wrong, there is an SDK in v3.0 that allows to extract the SQL. But I am reading a lot on these forums that lot of SDK classes and functions are deprecated / removed in v4.0.
    Thanks for your help.
    Omer

    For Crystal Reports in BI 4.0 to retrieve the SQL query you can use Report Application Server SDK. Here is a code snippet that retrieves the SQL statement.
    //oInfoObjectReport is of type IInfoObject corresponding to the crystal report.
    ReportClientDocument reportClientDoc = reportAppFactory.openDocument(oInfoObjectReport, 0, Locale.ENGLISH);
            //for all crystal reports
            GroupPath grpPath = new GroupPath();
            //get CR SQL query string
            String reportSQL=reportClientDoc.getRowsetController().getSQLStatement(grpPath,null);
            System.out.println("report SQL String: "+reportSQL);
            //for report whose datasource is command object:
            Tables tables = reportClientDoc.getDatabaseController().getDatabase().getTables();
            for (int i = 0; i < tables.size(); i++)
             ITable table = tables.getTable(i);
             ICommandTable ic= (ICommandTable) table;
             //Command can be obtained from the report using getCommandObject() method
             //get CR SQL query string
             String SQLText=ic.getCommandText();
             System.out.println("SQLText_"+i+": "+SQLText);
    Here are useful links for BI 4.0

  • Importing oracle.sql.BLOB through SQL Loader

    Hello,
    Currently the system we have creates .sql files and executes them. This takes a long time, so we're attempting to change to using SQL Loader. The one problem I'm having that I can't seem to fix is finding out how to imitate the behavior of this SQL statement through SQL Loader:
    INSERT INTO KRSB_QRTZ_BLOB_TRIGGERS (BLOB_DATA,TRIGGER_GROUP,TRIGGER_NAME)
    VALUES (oracle.sql.BLOB@515263,'KCB-Delivery','PeriodicMessageProcessingTrigger')
    I tried creating a lobfile and placing the text oracle.sql.BLOB@515263 within it this way
    INTO TABLE KRSB_QRTZ_BLOB_TRIGGERS
    WHEN tablename = 'KRSB_QRTZ_BLOB_TRIGGERS'
    FIELDS TERMINATED BY ',' ENCLOSED BY '##'
    TRAILING NULLCOLS
    tablename FILLER POSITION(1),
    TRIGGER_NAME CHAR(80),
    TRIGGER_GROUP CHAR(80),
    ext_fname FILLER,
    BLOB_DATA LOBFILE(ext_fname) TERMINATED BY EOF
    However, as expected, it merely loaded the text "oracle.sql.BLOB@515263" into the database. So does anyone have any ideas of how to imitate that insert statement through SQL Loader? The only information I have available is the string "oracle.sql.BLOB@515263", no other files or anything to aid with actually getting the binary data.
    When the .sql file is run with that insert statement in it, a 1.2kb BLOB is inserted into the database versus a 22 byte BLOB that contains nothing useful when done through SQL Loader.
    Alex

    My preference is DBMS_LOB.LOADFROMFILE

    did you try it?

  • Add sql statements in SGA

    select a.address address,
    s.hash_value hash_value,
    s.piece piece,
    s.sql_text sql_text,
    u.username parsing_user_id,
    c.username parsing_schema_id
    from v$sqlarea a,
    v$sqltext_with_newlines s,
    dba_users u,
    dba_users c
    where a.address=s.address
    and a.hash_value=s.hash_value
    and a.parsing_user_id=u.user_id
    and a.parsing_schema_id=c.user_id
    and exists (select 'x'
    from v$sqltext_with_newlines x
    where x.address=a.address
    and x.hash_value=a.hash_value
    and upper(x.sql_text) like '%UNION%')
    order by 1,2,3
    On executing the above statement the server display list of sqltext present in sga. We know that the server first search for the record in sga and if it is not
    present in SGA it searches in data files.
    My question is ,adding all the sql statements in sga manually is advisable? will that improve the performance?

    Vinodh2 wrote:
    In production the users uses some sql statement frequently. So those statements should be in the sga for better performance. The dbms package said by you takes object as input. What is object here?
    Did you check the last line I pasted from document?
    The value for this identifier is the concatenation of the address and hash_value columns from the v$sqlarea view.Each SQL in SQL AREA has a hash_value to identify it. You can use this hash value to decide which SQL want to keep in shared pool.
    Having Dynamic sql statements(records fetched based on varying filter condtion) called from interfaces will not help.
    But having static sql statements helps.
    In that case how to include those sql.Like said, you are introducing some more problems instead of any real gain by trying to micro manage how shared pool work. You should let Oracle take care it with it's own algorithm. Unless some rare cases, that you have limited shared pool and super busy system you want to pin some SQL in the shared pool with provide package.

  • Produce report NOT based on a single sql statement

    I want to produce a tabular report based on a series of sql statments. Specifically, a report of managers that wil include counts of employees that are in other tables using differing criterias.
    Name Count Count
    using using
    criteria 1 criteria 2
    Manager1 35 242
    I would expect to write an anonymous pl/sql block with a driving cursor determining the managers to report on. Within that cursor, I would execute a number of other queries to derive the count for each of the two columns.
    I have tried creating a report region based on a sql statement, but that requires a single sql statement. I also tried creating a report region based on plsql, but it required an into statement of defined items. This option looks like it can provide multiple rows, but since it selected 'INTO' named fields, it only creates a report with the last row of data.
    I must be missing something. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!!!

    If you want a wizard to create the form and report for you then yes you need to have a table. One thing that you can do is define a view that contains the data you need and define an Instead Of trigger on that view so the automatic fetch and dml will work but you can have the data stored into the different objects. basically the view and the trigger work as a router/dispatcher for the data.
    *edit*
    I should also add that you can write a pl/sql package which does the fetch and the dml operations with the form items as input. This is the solution I would typically use for any form that was not a simple CRUD form for a table. One thing to note is for the fetch I prefer to use out parameters for the form items so it requires the developer to map the item to the param in the app so it will show up when you are searching through the app. I highly discourage hiding item references inside of packaged code.
    Good Luck!

  • Extracting SQL statement from a Webi document's data provider using SDK.

    Hi all,
    Is it possible to extract the SQL statement from an existing Webi document's data provider using BO SDK?  I've searched through the class library but haven't found any information on this yet.  If you have done it, could you provide some guidance.  Many thanks.

    I found the following Java code that might be of some help to you. I realize you are using .NET but this might push you down the right path.
    The trick here is to use the Report Engine SDK to get the DataProvider of the DocumentInstance. Then, look at the SQLDataProvider to get your SQLContainer.
    My apologies for the poor formatting. This didn't copy and paste over to the forums very well. I've cleaned up as much as I could.

  • SQL statement in Drill-Through

    Hi, when you make a drill-through in excel add-in, is some way to get sql statement in excel? without open the EIS console.
    I need this because Drill-through don't work well in a metaoutline with filter IN, so the user can use the query to execute the sql statement directly in the database.

    there is no functionality to get the SQL that is about to be executed in Excel. There is a way to edit the columns or add filtering, but you really don't get the SQL statement.
    You would have to design it yourself. You could grab the sql statement that is generated in the metaoutline and bring it into excel and have a macro that does the replacements.
