SQLJ NoClassDefFoundError

When I run my application without creating a jar file, the
application runs well. When I make a jar file and attempt to run
the application from the jar file, I get "Exception in thread
"main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError:
sqlj/runtime/profile/RTResultSet
My classpath points to the runtime12.jar file, and of course
works with the non archived version.
Any help would be appreciated.

hi,
Make sure that you have translator.zip also in the classpath

  • SQLJ error: "Exception in thread main java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: sqlj/

    Hi,
    I am new to SQLJ. Now, in my PC (with Win98), I have JDK 1.2 and Oracle 8i (personal edition). I have used Java and Oracle in my PC without any problem. Now, I am going to learn SQLJ in order to create a java program to access Oracle database. What I have done is to set up several classpaths in DOS:
    SET classpath=C:\ora_program\sqlj\lib\translator.zip;
    SET classpath=C:\ora_program\sqlj\lib\runtime.zip;
    SET classpath=C:\ora_program\sqlj\lib\runtime12.zip;
    SET classpath=C:\ora_program\jdbc\lib\classes12.zip;
    The code of my program is:
    import java.sql.Date;
    import java.sql.SQLException;
    import oracle.sqlj.runtime.Oracle;
    import java.util.Date;
    public class Hello{
         public static void main(String[] args){
              java.sql.Date current_date;
              try{
                   // connect to the db
                   Oracle.connect(
                        "C:\ora_program\bin",
                        "system",
                        "manager");
                   // get the current date from the database
                   #sql{SELECT sysdate INTO :current_date FROM dual};
                   // display message
                   System.out.println("Hello, the current date is: "+ current_date);
              catch(SQLException e){
                   System.err.println("sqlException: "+e);
              finally{
                   try{
                        Oracle.close();
                   catch(SQLException e){
                        System.err.println("sqlException: "+e);
    And then I compile my program in DOS with the typing: sqlj Hello.sqlj
    The program cannot be compiled and the error message is:
    "Exception in thread main java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: sqlj/tools/Sqlj"
    It indicates that the SQLJ translator class files cannot be found.
    I have set up the classpath in DOS (see above). How does the error come? Please help. Thanks.
    PC

    >
    SET classpath=C:\ora_program\sqlj\lib\translator.zip;
    SET classpath=C:\ora_program\sqlj\lib\runtime.zip;
    SET classpath=C:\ora_program\sqlj\lib\runtime12.zip;
    SET classpath=C:\ora_program\jdbc\lib\classes12.zip;
    The above only sets the classpath to the last value. You need to use the following.
    SET classpath=%classpath%;C:\ora_program\sqlj\lib\runtime.zip;

  • Java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError when compile SQLJ source file

    Always got error message java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: sun/io/CharToByteConverter
    when using sqlj to compile SQLJ source file.
    The CLASSPATH (partial) .:$ORACLE_HOME/sqlj/lib/translator.zip:$ORACLE_HOME/sqlj/lib/runtime.zip
    I am able to compile the demo TestInstallCreateTable.java and TestInstallJDBC.java but not TestInstallSQLJ.sqlj in the same directory.
    I am using Oracle 8.1.6 R2 client in Linux Intel on Red Hat 6.0. Can anyone explain why this happened ?

    From the forthcoming new version of the SQLJ FAQ:
    "NoClassDefFoundError: sun/io/CharToByteConverter"
    (This is likely a general configuration issue, not something specific to your code.)
    Running sqlj results in the following error message.
    java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: sun/io/CharToByteConverter
    at sqlj.tools.Sqlj.initializeErrors(Sqlj.java:519)
    This happens if you are running under a JRE environment, and not a full JDK environment. You need to download and install a full JDK environment. Note that the Oracle
    database installation will only set up a Java Runtime Environment. Oracle does not distribute the Java Development Kit - you have to get it from http://java.sun.com
    If that did not help, you'd need to give us a fuller picture of your environmnet (JDK versions, PATH, CLASSPATH settings, etc.).
    Thanks!

  • Java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: HelloWorld when running SQLJ program

    i can compile the program but i can't run it. when i try to run ( java HelloWorld) it gives java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: HelloWorld error message. i have set the classpath, path and oracle_home accordingly to the oracle SQLJ documentation. i'm using win2000 and j2sdk 1.4.0. please help.
    this is my sqlj's code:
    import java.sql.Date;
    import java.sql.SQLException;
    import oracle.sqlj.runtime.Oracle;
    public class HelloWorld
         public static void main(String [] args)
              java.sql.Date current_date;
              try
                   Oracle.connect(
                        "jdbc:oracle:thin:nicole:1521:kwanyee",
                        "y2net",
                        "y90583008"
                   #sql { SELECT sysdate INTO :current_date FROM dual };
                   System.out.println( "Hello" + current_date);
              catch (SQLException e)
                   System.err.println("SQLException " + e);
              finally
                   try
                        Oracle.close();
                   catch (SQLException e)
                        System.err.println("SQLException " + e);
    }

    I am not too sure about sqlj ...if this suggestion doesn't work I can show you the statndard 'java' way to connect to Oracle. But try this, you probably need to add the oracle drivers to your classpath. Look for a file named classes12.zip ...and add that to the classpath settings like this (on my box):
    @SET CLASSPATH=%CLASSPATH%;G:\ORACLE\ORA81\JDBC\LIB\classes12.zip

    What is happening is that you still have the classes12.zip from your JDBC driver in your CLASSPATH after you have switched from JDK 1.2 to JDK 1.1.6. The SQLJ runtime thinks you are running in a JDBC 2.0 environment and dies as it tries to link to the JDBC 2.0 API.
    You need to replaces classes12.zip with classes111.zip for the Oracle JDBC driver.

  • NoClassDefFoundError: com/sap/sql/log/OpenSQLException

    I have developed a Java project. It consists of 2 SQLJ files and then a Java class. When I try to execute the Java program, I get a Java error:
    java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: com/sap/sql/log/OpenSQLException
         at com.mbb.crrs.business.report.dao.ReportDAO.<init>(ReportDAO.sqlj:23)
         at com.mbb.crrs.business.report.dao.Test.main(Test.java:24)
    Exception in thread "main"
    I notice a similar problem on message: Re: Which jar to include com.sap.sql.log.OpenSQLException
    Is that something that I need to maintain for it to work? Thank you.

    Hi,
    the problem one year ago was that the SQLException class was not available through remote access. I don't know if that might have been changed meanwhile in the latest release.
    I implemented a simple work around: I caught every SQL-exception in the method where it was thrown, wrapped the exception message and any nested exception in a self written exception and threw this new exception. That worked fine.

  • How Can I Run A SQLJ Normal Project In SAP NWDS

    I have a question about SQLJ in SAP NWDS.
    1.I created a java dictionary project,and then create the table , then depoly it.it's ok.

    3.I used the SQLJ tech in the java normal project,exporting the opensqllib.jar,sqljapi.jar,sqljc.jar,sqljimpl.jar.
    4.I coded the normal project,and export the project .jar,everything is ok.

    How Can I Run A SQLJ Normal Project In SAP NWDS?
    PLS Help me and don't let me alone!

    Tony,
    Why not try to import your SQLJ project in SAP NWDS. Add all the jars mentioned to the project path both for compile time as well as runtime. Now try running he project. Once you are able to bypass java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError, you will get other errors related to SQL statements. These Oracle SQL statements needs to be converted to OpenSQL format.
    Chill out!!!

  • JAR files for SQLJ and JDBC drivers: what is the best practice?

    starting a migration from IAS 10 to WebLogic 11g.
    Apparently the jar files for SQLJ are not on the classpath by default.
    java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: sqlj/runtime/ref/DefaultContextwhich is the better practice: putting the SQLJ runtime jar into the lib subdirectory of the domain directory, or using a shared library reference? (usage of SQLJ is pretty prevalent in our apps, though we may be getting away from it)
    are the Oracle JDBC drivers on the classpath by default?
    if not, then the same question: put them into the lib subdirectory of the domain directory, or use a shared library reference?

    I'm looking at the setDomainEnv, especially the big note at the top:
    >
    # WARNING: This file is created by the Configuration Wizard.
    # Any changes to this script may be lost when adding extensions to this configuration.
    >
    and am getting squeamish about editing it...
    http://www.bea-weblogic.com/how-do-i-disable-wls-automatically-adding-to-classpath.html looks like the default behaviour is for WebLogic to put $DOMAIN/lib;$WL_HOME/common/lib/ext;$WL_HOME/server/lib/ext on the classpath; there is also a reference to setting weblogic.ext.dirs= when starting weblogic (which means I set the WEBLOGIC_EXTENSION_DIRS environment variable).
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E12840_01/wls/docs103/programming/libraries.html#wp1067450 also refers at the bottom to using the domain /lib subdirectory.
    so am I correct that a good practice is to just put the jars I think I will globally need into $DOMAIN/lib, rather than putting them in $WL_HOME/common/lib/ext, $WL_HOME/server/lib/ext, or fiddling with the WEBLOGIC_EXTENSION_DIRS environment variable?

    This is likely being caused by a problem that we've seen a number of times. You'll have namespace issues and problems with NULLs if your JDev is 10.1.3.1 and SOA is 10.1.3.3 (or vice-versa). You MUST synchronize JDev 10.1.3.3 (or higher) with SOA 10.1.3.3 (or higher). It doesn't matter if you mix 10.1.3.3 and 10.1.3.4. You just need to get away from 10.1.3.1.

  • SQLJ compiler in oracle for Java

    Hi all
    I just stated talking to a client who uses SQLJ and he need some of my help to do some maintenance.
    So I am setting up my laptop with oracle to have static SQL in java code.
    I have setup classpath and path accordingly. My oracle home is c:\appl\ORA9i
    Path has
    c:\appl\ORA9i\BIN
    Classpath has
    c:\appl\ORA9i\\jdbc\lib\classes12.zip;
    When I type SQLJ it gives me below, (Looks like it is seaching for a tool folder which I don't have) SQLJ.exe is in c:\appl\ORA9i\BIN.
    C:\>sqlj
    Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: sqlj/tools/Sqlj

    Can someone please guide me how to get my SQLJ pre-compiler running to get my Java work done?

    Could anybody please answer this!!

    <ServerManager::loadAllDomains>
    ORABPEL START-UP ERROR!!!!!
    XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
    It seems to happen because of the following exception:
    XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
    java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: javax/activation/DataSource
    XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
    On another WinXP-System everything is fine.
    I already had a default Oracle Lite Installation on my machine through Mobile Development Kit when installing BPEL PM Server. So I think there is a conflict between the two OLite DB... (Unfortunately I really need the first installation of OLite).
    When I tried to reach the bpel-OLite DB through msql everything is fine. I can address the orapbel schema either with the ODBC-DSN syntax or the syntax which uses the olsv2040 adaptor service.
    I checked ODBC.ini, ODBCinst.ini and polite.ini - they are configured as mentioned in another forum thread.
    The classpath seems to be correct as shown by the log (following). The class javax/activation/DataSource is in orapbel.jar - this archive is in the classpath. Perhaps the signature of the executed method doesn't fit with two concurrent olite DB on the system...
    Does somebody has an idea what's wrong with my configuration?
    I appreciate any suggestion.
    Thank you very much!

    Hello Erwin,
    thank you for your fast reply.
    I'll try to switch to 9i/10g.
    In migrating perhaps also I will use the Designer as standalone tool on the client and connecting to iAS on another machine where I could integrate the BPEL Engine.
    That means integrating BPEL in our architecture.
    Regards Florian

    Have anybody solutions of my problem?

    Sorry to steal this thread but I'm new here and don't know yet how to open new thread. I'm getting this error too. I'm at the very start of a book titled "Teach Yourself Java" and I'm trying execute the first example. I downloaded and installed Java at
    C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0_11\bin.
    I set up folder C:\Java Applications and put my first fiel in there titeld Example1.java
    Based an another thread here I went into Start | Control Panel | Ssystem | Advanced | Environment Variables and updated variable PATH by adding to the end of it ;C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0_11\bin.
    I can now navigate to C:\Java Applications and exeute javac Example1.java and it compiles OK but when I execute java Example1.java I get the error Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError.
    I dont' know anything about the set CLASSPATH that is mentioned in this thread. Where does that go or is there something else I need?
