  • Getting stack overflow exception whilst reading from HashMap

    hi,
    We are getting stack oveflow exception exception whilst reading from the HashMap.
    Following are few details about the code
    We have a swing based client and Session beans and Entity beans deployed on Weblogic Server.
    When the server is started, a session bean method queries to data base and creates a java object for each row in the data base.This java object is then stored in HashMap. These java objects have all get/set methods . and it has attributes of primitive data type as well as other java objects.This Hahsmap is then returned to client.
    When client calls this method and the method processes succesfuly , but when tries to return the HashMap, it gives Stack overflow exception.
    Looking at the stack trace i think this exception is thrown when the HashMap.readObject() methods is being invoked.
    does any body have any idea about this ? a quick help is much appriciated.

    Stack overflow is often caused by infinity loops No, an infinite loop would be like while (true) {
        // stuff
    } That doesn't cause stack overflow.
    or
    recursive method calls.Bingo.

  • Stack Overflow Exception

    Hi all,
    I am trying to serialize a directed graph. I have Node objects, and each Node object has a Vector of Node objects as one of its fields. The directed graph is stored as a Vector of Node Objects. The Node object and the DirectedGraph objects are structured as follows:
    public class Node
    private int nodeID;
    private Vector adjacentNodes;
    // Constructor..
    // Some more methods
    public class DirectedGraph
    private Vector nodes;
    // Other fields and methods.
    When the no of nodes is very large (~ 10000), I get a StackOverflow error, which I think is because of the recursive serialization. I do not get the exception for a small set of nodes (~1000).
    I did read someplace that if the stack depth is greater than 2000, the VM throws the exception.
    Are there any workarounds for this (without any changes to the data representation) ?
    Are there other custom serializers which detect infinite cycles ?
    Or, (worst case), do I have to write my own serializer?
    Suggestions, links, will surely help.
    Thank you,
    Astranomina

    As mentioned above, Java serialization handles a cyclic object graph by writing a representation of the object reference to the stream for subsequent occurrances, so this does not cause infinite recursion.
    However, if your structure has 25,000 levels then I'm not surprised that you got StackOverflow and for something this size I don't think that trying to increase the stack size is the way to go.
    As intimated by Ernimril, a better approach would be to devise a serialized form that is more sympathetic to the environment. I would recommend that you program to interface and use object replacements. That way, the issues regarding serialization can be hidden and coded in the appropriate place:
    public interface DirectedGraph
    public interface Node
    public class LocalDirectedGraph implements DirectedGraph
    // your current code (and the same for LocalNode)
    Object writeReplace() throws ObjectStreamException
      // flatten structure
      return SerializedDirectedGraph
    public class SerializedDirectedGraph implements DirectedGraph
      // a flat structure that can be used to rebuild the hierarchical one
    Object readResolve() throws ObjectStreamException;
      // rebuild hierarchy
      return LocalDirectedGraph
    }Perhaps traverse the original graph and write a linear structure of the individual objects and some info about what level they are at. Implement writeReplace and place this code in it, returning a SerializedDirectedGraph. At the receiving end implement readResolve and reconstruct the original, returning a LocalDirectedGraph. Everywhere else in your code refer to your objects by the interfaces. Because the JDK handles the cyclic references thing you still get the original object graph, you are just intervening to make the structure more serialization-friendly.
    Check out [url http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/docs/guide/serialization/spec/output.html#wp5324]this section of the serialization spec. I've used this feature for different reasons, as well as other hooks available in Serialization, and am very impressed with the whole implementation.

  • Stack overflow exception when selecting the Organization tab on a contact card

    I have encountered a reproducible crash in the Lync 2013 client.  The crash happens after selecting the "Organization" tab when viewing a contact card.
    The crash appears to happen because of a stack overflow with MSO.DLL.  I have applied the latest hotfix for that module but the crash persists.
    Before I open a case with MSFT, can anyone offer any insight?  Perhaps this is being seen elsewhere?

    I actually think I may have figured this out.  I took a network trace during the crash.  What I found is that Lync is performing repeated LDAP searches over and over until it crashes from the stack overflow.  Digging into
    the searches, I found the same two user CN's being alternated one after another.
    It appears that this crash may be the result of a "Circular Reference" where the two users are each listed as the others manager in their user object.
    Example:
    User1: Manager = User2
    User2: Manager = User1
    Proving this as the cause will take me some additional time as these two users are at the top of the Org Chart.  :)
    I'll update this post with the results when I get them.

  • Float overlow Exception!

    Hi all,
    To quote JLS in verbatim ..."Java floating-point
    operators produce no exceptions (11). An operation
    that overflows produces a signed infinity, an
    operation that underflows produces a signed zero, and
    an operation that has no mathematically definite
    result produces NaN."
    But I am facing a problem here. The highest value
    that can be held by a Double variable is
    1.79769313486231570e+308. Any operation resulting in
    an overflow of this variable should produce 'infinity'
    accodring to the JLS but I am getting a
    "EXCEPTION_FLT_OVERFLOW". Does this have something to
    do with the OS or the processor?
    Here's a simple test program:
    public class FloatingPointInexactRulesTest {
    public static void main(String[] args) {
    // An example of overflow:
    double d = 1.79769313486231570e+308;
    System.out.print("overflow produces infinity: ");
    System.out.println(d + "*1.1==" + d*1.1);
    The program's output should have been:
    overflow produces infinity: 1.0e+308*1.1==Infinity
    but I get a EXCEPTION_FLT_OVERFLOW! Since the JVM cant
    violate the semantics of the JLS I think the problem
    lies somewhere else(either the OS or the processor). I
    am using WIndows2000 as the OS and Intel PIV as the
    processor.
    Please help me...

    Thanks a lot.

    Yeah switching to Linux is a good idea. The firsttime I tried that,
    GRUB crashed and I screwed everything else tryingto copy the
    bootloader. Before this I had problems accessingthe file system on
    Windows via LAN, Samba server is not really theeasiest to use.
    Before that I had display problems with wierdmessages like sync out
    of range, Init respawning too fast so disabling.......I guess this is just
    the tip of an iceberg when it comes to problemswith Linux. It is
    sometimes really frustrating.Really? The only problems I recognise are the
    automatic chip set
    detection for the graphics card. I always let it boot
    in 'mode 3', figure
    out the exact chip set present in the computer and
    only then switch
    to 'mode 5' ...Yeah I had all these problems with RH Linux within a span of 2 months.
    I solved most of them though(Google is my best friend ;). The problem with the display was coz of horizontal and vertical sync values.
    btw, Samba has a nice webbrowser interface; I simply
    follow the docs
    step by step (I know next to nothing about Samba) and
    I'm in business
    after typing in all the required stuff ...I had problems with Samba bcoz of the firewall settings and the firewall interface was not comin on properly on the display.
    And now there are viruses for Linux too!Never do anything online when logged in as root and
    keep your FS
    permissions sensible.Yeah. I dont log in to root untill it is really really needed.
    An offtopic question (hope no one minds) Is there any book for Linux which is on the same lines of "The Design of the Unix Operating System" by Maurice.J.Bach?. If yes, then pls pls lemme know. I am a big Fan of "The Design of the Unix Operating System".
    kind regards,
    JosThanks and regards.

  • Stack Overflow Exception in EJB Explorer

    Hello everyone!
    I have correct working EJB which returns in one method and JPA Entity that have bidirectional relationship with other entity. This relationship is @OneToMany and @ManyToOne on other side and all of the related objects are loaded before the end of the method. This EJB is working correctly when used with other components.
    I have problems testing this method in EJB Explorer utility that is part of the SAP NetWeaver Aplication Server Java. When i start this method it never finishes and later gets an stack overflow error. Trace is here:
    java.lang.RuntimeException: java.lang.StackOverflowError : null

    Looks like EJB Explorer is trying to expand all returned objects. Then he gets into the unfinished loop because of the bidirectional relationship.
    We are using SAP NetWeaver 7.20 SP04.
    Is this error fixed in new version?
    Is there some configuration that fix this?
    Thank you for any response.

    Hi,
    is it just for the presence of the JUnit extension, or do you use this class in your Unit testing ?

  • Regex stack overlow

    Hi,
    I am using regex to find the longest match between a text file and a database. Program runs fine for about 2/3 of the text file, but then I get a stack overflow error. I am using regex recursively to find the longest match.
    Thanks.

    I am using regex recursively to find the longest match.Thats the cause of your stack overflow. Do it iteratively instead.

    Hi,
    According to your description, my understanding is that when you upload document in Office 365 site, the event receiver in sandbox solution throws error.
    Per my knowledge, if you want to use event receiver in Office 365 environment, you need to use remote event receiver instead the normal event receiver in an app.
    Here are some detailed articles for your reference:
    Create a remote event receiver in apps for SharePoint
    Handle events in apps for SharePoint
    Thanks

  • Web Service over SSL exception

    Hi,
    Using NetBeans 6.5 (updated), I have created a web service like this:
    package test.webservice;
    import javax.jws.WebMethod;
    import javax.jws.WebParam;
    import javax.jws.WebService;
    import javax.ejb.Stateless;
    @WebService()
    @Stateless()
    public class TestWebService {
        @WebMethod(operationName = "testOperation")
        public String testOperation(@WebParam(name = "firstParameter") String firstParameter) {
            //TODO write your implementation code here:
            return "This method has executed " + (firstParameter == null ? "no strings attached." : firstParameter);
    }I've deployed and tested it on a local Glassfish server. Some additional information:
    - Sun GlassFish Enterprise Server v2.1 (9.1.1) (build b60e-fcs)
    - jdk1.6.0_13
    It worked fine when accessing it through 'http://localhost:8080/TestWebServiceService/TestWebService?Tester', however, when accessing it through the SSL port (using this link: 'https://localhost:8181/TestWebServiceService/TestWebService?Tester'), it has produced an exception with the following stack trace:

    Question 1: Why isn't the tester working when using the SSL port? A reason or a bug (possibly fixed in later releases)?
    Question 2: Will the Web Service itself also not work when invoked through the SSL port? Is it possible to invoke a simple web service over the simple SSL port?
    Question 3: When accessing the WSDL description through the SSL port it produces a blank (empty) response - a blank page. Why so?
    Thank you very much in advance!
    Best regards
    Matej

    Hello,
    I used this example, when I made my experiments with SSL and Glassfish (GF):
    http://java.sun.com/developer/EJTechTips/2006/tt0527.html#1
    If you have problems with GF I suggest to post a message here:

  • Java Null Pointer Exception- Business Validation In AM

    Hi, I have been tried cracking this validation issue, tried several combinations. But does not work and throw java null pointer exception. I would appreciate if somebody can point where I am going wrong on the code. Thanks ahead.
    Below is the issue:-
    I have a page with PO (blanket purchase order) header info, and a PO line info with additional empty columns (related to Blanket Release). When the user fills in one of the columns (release amount, rls_amt_i), then I need to validate this against remaining blanket amount ie.{ PO_amt - (po_rls_amt1 + po_rls_amt2+..)}. If rls_amt_i is <= remaining amount, then the release needs to get created, otherwise shouldn't. I know, this is a pretty normal requirement. Please check my code to see where I could be wrong.
    ReleaseCO (in PFR):-
    if (pageContext.getParameter("Apply") != null)
    OAApplicationModule am = pageContext.getApplicationModule(webBean);
    OAViewObject vo = (OAViewObject)am.findViewObject("CxPoReleaseVO1");
    Number poHeaderId = (Number)vo.getCurrentRow().getAttribute("PoHeaderId");
    String poNumber = (String)vo.getCurrentRow().getAttribute("PoNumber");
    OAViewObject linesVO = (OAViewObject)am.findViewObject("CxPoReleaseLinesVO1");
    Number lineAmt = (Number)linesVO.getCurrentRow().getAttribute("Amount");
    Serializable [] params = {poHeaderId.toString(), poNumber, lineAmt.toString()};
    am.invokeMethod("apply", params);
    ReleaseAM:-
    public void apply(String poheaderId, String poNumber, String lineAmt)
    Number blanketAmt, totalreleasesAmt, lineRlsAmt;
    try
    { lineRlsAmt = new Number(lineAmt.trim());}
    catch(Exception e) { throw new OAException("AK", "FWK_TBX_INVALID_EMP_NUMBER"); }
    totalreleasesAmt = getReleasesAmt(poheaderId);
    blanketAmt = getBlanketAmt(poNumber);
    if ((lineRlsAmt.intValue() - (blanketAmt.intValue()-totalreleasesAmt.intValue())) <= 0)
    getTransaction().commit();
    approve();
    throw new OAException("The amount is less than the remaining release amt", OAException.INFORMATION);
    } // end apply()
    public Number getReleasesAmt (String poHeaderId)
    CxTotalReleaseQuantityVVOImpl totalreleaseqtyVO = getCxTotalReleaseQuantityVVO1(); //vo to get TotalReleased Amount
    Number poHeadNum = null;
    Number totalqty;
    try { poHeadNum = new Number(poHeaderId); }
    catch (Exception e) { throw OAException.wrapperException(e); }
    totalreleaseqtyVO.initQuery(poHeadNum);
    CxTotalReleaseQuantityVVORowImpl row = null;
    row = (CxTotalReleaseQuantityVVORowImpl)totalreleaseqtyVO.getCurrentRow();
    try { totalqty = (Number)row.getQuantityReleased();}
    catch (Exception e) { throw new OAException(e.getMessage()); }
    if(totalqty != null)
    { return totalqty;  }
    else
    { throw new OAException ("exception occurred", OAException.ERROR);  }
    public Number getBlanketAmt (String poNumber)
    Number blanketAmt;
    CxBlanketAmtVOImpl blanketVO = (CxBlanketAmtVOImpl) getCxBlanketAmtVO1(); //VO to get total amount on the BlanketPO.
    blanketVO.initQuery(poNumber);
    Row row = blanketVO.getCurrentRow();
    blanketAmt = (Number)row.getAttribute("Quantity"); //gets the blanket amt
    if( blanketAmt != null ) {
    return blanketAmt ; }
    else { throw new OAException ("exception occurred", OAException.ERROR);   }
    ---------The code breaks at the line where I try to get "totalqty" or "blanketAmt" .. It throws a java nullpointer exception.
    Thanks for helping me out.

    The code breaks at the line 642: totalqty = (Number)row.getQuantityReleased();
    I had already taken care of the null value in the VO sql query by using nvl(sum(release_amount), 0).. .so it should return atleast 0, if its null. But it returns "null" all the time.
    I dont understand why its doing that. When I run the sql backend the query works fine and returns 0,even when there are no prior releases on the PO.
    Thanks,

  • Reg: Runtime exception occurred during application mapping

    Dear SAP Gurus,
    This is Amar Srinivas Eli working currently on SOAP to SOAP Scenario on PI 7.1 Server.
    I Would like to inform you that I have done all steps regarding DESIGN and CONFIG and also regarding SERVICE REGISTRY part successfully.
    While Testing the data in the WS Navigator by giving the input parameters I am getting an error that
    *<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="yes" ?>*
    *- <!--  Request Message Mapping*
      -->
    - <SAP:Error xmlns:SAP="http://sap.com/xi/XI/Message/30" xmlns:SOAP="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/" SOAP:mustUnderstand="1">

      <SAP:Retry>N</SAP:Retry>
      </SAP:Error>
    These are the steps I did while implementing..
    1. Importing the XSD's successfully
    2. Developed the design and config part and also checked nearly 3-4 times regarding both REQ and
        RESPONSE Mappings.
    3. I already checked the link of WSDL once again...
    4. Even I found REsponse Interface once again...
    Still I am not getting where the error was ? Please guide me in detail in a right way in this issue.

    Hello,
    I already checked all those queues and context fields////
    Based on my Observation I found
    1) As I am unable to view the SOAP BODY I increased the RUN TIME Trace Level to 3 and LOG_VAlue to 3
    2) ANother most Important that I found later doing these settings are....
        I found Receiver Pay LOAD and I copied that entire pay load and pasted it in
        REceiver Message Mapping> Test Tab and Code->PASTED...and compared all those parameters
        in the TEST TAB and DEFINITION TAB in Tree View whether all the mandatory receiver mapped
        elements are  coming I mean passing from source or not...
    OBSERVATION::
    I found that for nearly 3 fields there is a difference when I compared on Tree View in DEFINITION TAB and also parallely in the TEST TAB Tree View which I got by copied from MONI,,,,
    see for example ::
    CENTRE <----
    > DISCHARGE DATE..
    For going to CENTRE..here I found that in DEfiniition TAB...
    Control Act Event-->Subject->document-->Component>Structured body> component> Section>Component>PatientCareProvisionEvent->EffectiveTime-->CENTRE
    But immediately I have gone to TEST TAB and TREE VIEW and I found that respective field CENTRE is posting I mean passing any value or parameter to Discharged Date or not...
    But I found that...
    Control Act Event-->Subject->document-->Component>Structured body> component> Section>Component-->_PatientCareProvisionEvent_
    This Implies that Effective Time and Centre are missing in the XML and I mean no values are passing to receiver right..
    In PI XSD 's it is there but in I think after Compiling REQUEST MAPPING and while in returning to RESPONSE MAPPING I mean whenever the Response is posting to SOAP WEBSERVICE it is unable to found those target elements and I think due to this...
    Am I Correct ?
    If that is the case...Let me know where the issue is whether in the data present in the WEBSERVICE created on target side or in PI Side..any issue...

    Hi All,
    Please find the error message which we are getting:

      </SAP:Error>
    Please give your expert Advice on the same.
    Regards
    RK

    Dear Rableen,
    As Muniyappan and peter told about the mandatory field value is missing for the target element
    "/ns0:ProductCategoryHierarchyMassReplicationRequest/ProductCategor", I am able to see other fields are also not getting input data.
    as below
    "Cannot create target element /ns0:ProductCateg"
    Request you to test with the payload in message mapping and activate the message mapping first and then edit your operation mapping and call the same message mapping in your operation mapping and activate all your objects.
    Thank you!

  • Runtime exception occurred during application mapping "EXCEPTION_DURING_EX"

    Hi Gurus,
    I am getting following error in MONI:
    SAP:Code area="MAPPING">EXCEPTION_DURING_EXECUTE</SAP:Code>
      <SAP:P1>com/sap/xi/tf/_MM_MDM_CMS_Backfeed_Group_</SAP:P1>

      <SAP:Retry>M</SAP:Retry>
      </SAP:Error>
    I have tried to refresh the mapping cache and restart the message but stil this message persists.
    For me it seems an issue with a wrong mapping or some wrong value in the inbound scenario.
    Please suggest if any one of you had come across this error before.
    With Reg,
    Vikash

    Hi Vikash
    Whenever you have a problem in your mapping you will get this kind of error in monitoring
    According to your log the problem is in parameter  /ns0:BackfeedGroup/group/MasterId
    First of all check your mapping. If it is fine than check the value of this parameter from your payload.
    Also try to copy your xml and test the mapping in IR. Check wether you are getting same error there .
    If same error comes than try to manipulate the value of that field and try the same test again

  • How can i get the name of the method or exception handle

    i just start to programm.
    i want to handle exceptions.
    there is a try catch procedure.
    i want that the catch procedures tells me which method has occured the exception.
    so i thought i could handle it like this
    public void getAllConstraints(Connection _conn){
    try{
    catch (SQLException e){
    handleException("SQLException", e);
    public void handleException(String exceptionName,
    Exception e){
    System.out.println(exceptionName + " occured in method " +
    GETMETHODENNAME);
    System.out.println("Exception name: ");
    System.err.println(e);
    the exceptionname should say for example SQLException, IOException or somthing like this.

    You can use the getStackTrace() method:
    StackTraceElement stack[] = new Exception().getStackTrace();
    // stack[0] is the current method
    // stack[1] is the calling method
    // etc.

  • Exception in Mass Case Tester

    While using the Mass Case Tester for reporting, I am getting the following exception:
    *"Think cycle has not stabilised after 20 iterations. This is probably due to a fault in the inferencing listener."*
    This is coming up when I am trying to generate any of the following:
    Exhaustive Sample
    Random Sample
    Decision GraphWhat could be the possible causes for this?
    Following is the entire error message and the stack trace:
    Exception: IllegalStateException
    Message: Think cycle has not stabilised after 20 iterations. This is probably due to a fault in the inferencing listener.

    at Oracle.Modeling.MassCaseTester.RulebaseChecker.Check()

    The bug that I mentioned in the stack trace turned out to indeed be the source of the issue. It is a bug in 10.1 when inferred relationships are used when the engine is using what is called "Immediate" think mode, as opposed to the usual "Deferred" think mode that virtually everything uses. As it happens the MCT is one of the few tools we have that uses immediate think mode.
    I've found a workaround, which ironically uses an inferencing listener to fix the issue. I will have to email it to you as I can't attach anything to the public discussion forum.
    The issue is already fixed for our next release, so should not be an issue in future.
