Stand-alone data tables, no ODBC drivers

Using only Java, is it possible to create, populate, index and query stand-alone data tables without the use of any ODBC drivers or DBMS? At work we cannot install such software on our workstations. However, I do have JDK2 installed and working fine. I have compiled code which can open a raw, unformatted, non-delimited text file, filter for desired elements and write those elements to strings. What I need to do is write those elements to data tables, then perform lookups, selects, updates, etc on those tables. This will all be totally self-contained on one pc.

It would help to know more about the context.
For example Oracle doesn't use ODBC drivers, but obviously you have to buy and install Oracle.
On the other hand, there are other databases that are free or have limited licenses that allow for cheap purchases. For example Interbase and MySQL. There might even be some written entirely in java.
Finally there are probably some limited file based indexing systems which stay away from databases and JDBC completely. They don't allow nearly as much power as the other types.

  • Yet Another Another Stand Alone Up Date (Via a PC) Issue

    Hello all !
Sadly, yet again Apple have ignored the polite requests to offer an alternative download facility - other than the current auto-browser setting, which is impossible if attempting using the stand-alone-download option (via a PC)
    I just wish to up-date an off-line Mac !
*Could some kind soul with Mac expertise please post me a link to permit me to download the latest Mac up-dates for both iTunes & Quick Time ...*
A shiny greens stars awaits ... your consideration,
    Many thanks in advance

    Hi,
I hope that someone can work out the solution to the iTunes riddle too
    Still a riddle ?
When you use this http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/ - scroll a bit down and on the lft side (uder the hardware and software requiremnts) click on the 'Get iTunes for Macintosh' link and you should get the 'MAc OSX' version of the download page, which lets you download the iTunes8.dmg file.
Or if that dosn't work for you, use MacUpdate.

  • How to add a stand alone table from Physical layer to Business Model

    Hi,
I have tables from 2 different database sources in my Physical Layer.
My Business model currently uses only tables from one database. from my second database in teh physical layer I need only one table and that will be a stand alone table, to my Presentation layer.
    1. Does it have to go through my Business layer or can it be directly added to the Presentation layer. What are the steps?
    2. Can I restrict the permissions on that stand alone table only to the administrator?
    Thank you.

1)create a view with single column using the sql (select 1 from dual) in physical layer and join it with the table using complex join in physical layer (1=1).
Move that to BMM, set the column as key in both physical and bmm layer.
    2) You can restrict the access for the table presentation layer
Double click the presentation layer table -> Permission -> there you can restrict the access by user or group
    Thanks,
    Vino

  • How to install ODBC drivers ALONE in OUI?

Hi, I need to install ODBC drivers in oracle clients, so I choose "Customized" installation and then the "Oracle Windows Interfaces" component. However, OUI will also try to intall the Microsoft Transaction Server component under the previous mentioned node, and also "Oracle Object for OLE" and "Oracle Provider for OLE DB".
The question is: how can I install the ODBC drivers ALONE? I want to keep my clients with the minimal possible installation.
    Thank you in advance.
    Leandro.

Have you looked at the 10g Instant Client? That's going to be a lot smaller and a lot easier to install.

  • How can I read the complex data for the stand-alone offline time-frequency analyzer, which only accept real data, that is one-column or one row data ?

I have real complex data (i,q data) for the ISAR imaging. I don't have any knowledge of Labview programming. I bought this signal processing toolset to use only stand-alone time-frequency analyzer.

In the LabVIEW functions palette on the block diagram, if you go to Numeric>>Complex you have to VI's that splits a complex number into rectangular or polar components. Click on the help file for those VI's to see the kind of datatypes you can wire to them.

  • Using stand alone executables to send data to the parallel port

I have a executable that uses the parallel port to activate an alarm. The program works well on the base machine which is running windows XP. However when I try to run the stand alone executable on a windows NT machine there is nothing sent to the parallel port. I have updated the Cvirt file on all machines. I don't get any error messages when running the stand alone executable.

I have the same situation using parallel port to control a hot swap PCI extender card and no error showed.  I can turn on/off and read correct voltages from the card in base machine.  After creating executables, I can turn on/off the card, but got wrong voltages in target machine.
I've installed AccessHW in both machines and copied AccessHW.dll and cvirte.dll to system32 folder and the folder same with executables.  I also tried installer with port support and serial support checked.
Windows XP is in both machines and LV 7 in base machine.  I use "Output Byte to Port.vi" and "Input Byte from Port.vi" in AccessHW lib.
One thing I observe is initiation.  The card manufacturer provides a program with same functions.  After running their program, the voltage readings from the executables become correct.  The readings remain good after closing their program.  I close the executables and run the executables again and still see good results unless restarting the target machine.
Any solution for the problem? Thanks in advance!

    Hi Deepak,
    Thanks for Reply.
But in /home/sapcs/conf/http.conf file its already maintained like this, sending you some part of httpd.conf file
Listen: Allows you to bind Apache to specific IP addresses and/or # ports, instead of the default. See also the #<VirtualHost> # directive.
Change this to Listen on specific IP addresses as shown below to  prevent Apache from glomming onto all bound IP #addresses.
    Listen 1090
User/Group: The name (or #number) of the user/group to run httpd as.
It is usually good practice to create a dedicated user and group for
running httpd, as with most system services.
    User sapcs
    Group sapsys
    </IfModule>
    </IfModule>
even after restarting server i am getting same problem
    [sapcs@hpsebdev1 bin]$ apachectl start
(13)Permission denied: make_sock: could not bind to address [::]:80
(13)Permission denied: make_sock: could not bind to address 0.0.0.0:80

I am using a non root user to start apachectl command

  • 64-bit ColdFusion 9 ODBC drivers confusion? (architecture mismatch)

Hi all - I'm having problems setting up ColdFusion ODBC sources in a pure 64-bit environment. Server specs:
    Windows 2008 R2 (64-bit)
    ColdFusion 9.01 (251028) Enterprise, 64-bit
I have 64-bit ODBC drivers for all of my database sources:
64-bit SQL Server (bundled with Windows 2008 R2)
64-bit MS Access 2010 (with 64-bit Access ODBC driver from Office 2010 64-bit install)
64-bit ODBC drivers for Sybase SQL Anywhere 11 (from SyBase)
Using the (64-bit) ODBC Administrator, I can create system DSNs and they test out perfectly. (From my test Access database, I can use these DSNs to pull data from SQL Server and from SQL Anywhere.) Since this is working, I'm pretty confident that my drivers are all 64-bit and that everything is happy.
    Now for ColdFusion...
When I try to create a new data source in the ColdFusion Administrator and I use, the "ODBC Socket" option, I am presented with a drop-down list of my 64-bit ODBC system DSNs (good!), but whenever I select one and save, I invariably get an "architecture mismatch" error like below:
Connection verification failed for data source: MSSQLtestDatabase
java.sql.SQLException: [Macromedia][SequeLink JDBC Driver][ODBC  Socket]internal error: The specified DSN contains an architecture mismatch  between the Driver and Application
The root cause was that:  java.sql.SQLException: [Macromedia][SequeLink JDBC Driver][ODBC Socket]internal  error: The specified DSN contains an architecture mismatch between the Driver  and Application
I am well aware that "architecture mismatch" errors mean that you're trying to mix 32-bit drivers with a 64-bit application (or vice-versa), but I'm pretty sure that everything in my environment is 64-bit.
As a further test, I created a few 32-bit ODBC system DSNs and the ColdFusion Administrator does not present them as options in the drop-down list of ODBC DSNs (good!). So, it seems like the Administrator is smart enough to show only the 64-bit DSNs, but whenever you try to connect to one, it gets confused and kicks up an "architecture mismatch" error.
So is there any obvious configuration error here? Is there a 32-bit subcomponent to ColdFusion (JDBC, etc.) that's confusing things? (I ran the ColdFusion_9_WWE_win64.exe setup downloaded from Adobe's site.) Is 64-bit ColdFusion ready for prime time? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Joe

OK, just did a little Googling for you about this, Josie (and others). There seem to be a few alternative solutions, each with pros and cons.
The easiest, though, may be to simply use the 32-bit (instead of default 64bit) ODBC control panel, and then again use the MS Access driver in the CF Admin (not the ODBC socket one) to point to that. This is discussed here:
    http://www.cfexecute.com/post/access-dsns-in-64bit-coldfusion
There's also a little more that may help at the bottom of this:
    http://www.zidsoft.com/x64.html
MS also covers the topic here:
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms712362%28VS.85%29.aspx
    Other CF-specific solutions include:
    - run CF instead in 32-bit mode (even on the 64-bit machine). See discussion at http://www.houseoffusion.com/groups/cf-talk/thread.cfm/threadid:60467
    - if you have 2 boxes available, you could run CF in 32-bit mode on one box (just for providing access to the 32-bit Access driver), then "proxy" the DSN setup from the 64-bit CF machine to access the DSN on the 32-bit machine (See http://www.coldfusionmuse.com/index.cfm/2009/4/7/MS.Access.Proxy)
    - get an alternative jdbc driver for Access (HXTT), mentioned in the threads above
    - did you happen to try the "microsoft access with Unicode" driver option in the CFAdmin? That is quite different from the one that is not "with Unicode", so worth a try if nothing else works for you.
Let us know if any of these suit you.
Also, I appreciate the annoyance of those who would think this should "just work" without workarounds. I think I have clarification there.
First, the CF9 System Requirements page is unclear on this. While its systems support matrix lists 32 and 64 but windows (among others), those don't list what DBs are supported on each. Instead, there's a database support matrix at the bottom, which does indicate that Access is supported, but it doesn't break it down per OS, let alone bit-level of each OS.
But I just found a clarificaiton in a devnet article (by an Adobe engineer) that does seem to put the nail in the coffin:
"Most of the functionality and features of ColdFusion run just fine on 64-bit platforms, however, certain features like ColdFusion COM interoperability, ColdFusion Delphi interoperability, and Microsoft Access database connectivity do not work on a ColdFusion 64-bit platform. A few other features, such as ColdFusion .NET integration services and database drivers currently run in 32-bit mode." (http://www.adobe.com/devnet/coldfusion/articles/64_bit_print.html)
I think most haven't noticed this or made much of it simply because Access has been eschewed by so many for so long.

  • Sql expression fields - odbc drivers

We are using Crystal 2008 with SAP ECC 6.0, and the database is sql server 2005. We had Integration kit installed. We have developed few reports with this one from ECC 6.0.
My problem is, I am not able to see the SQL EXPRESSION FIELDS in the FIELD EXPLORER of CR 2008. From the replies for my
previous postings in other forums here and from the feed back of Don Williams, I understood there is a problem with odbc drivers.
I checked trying with new report and tried using ODBC(RDO) but found no drivers. The ODBC data source window showing "dBASE Files, Excel Files & MS Access Database" in the data source Names field.
Even from my machine, I checked the ODBC drivers and found only the above three were present in the user DSN tab of ODBC data source administrator window. Shall I have to add ODBC drivers for SQL Native client OR SQL server OR both (FROM THE DRIVERS TAB)?
Will there be any other ODBC is required for SAP INTEGRATION?
What are the steps to resolve this and to activate and use the drivers? so that I can see SQL Expression fields & also "Show sql query".
    BABASHARI

    Hi,
So by establishing the connectivity through the proper transports and authorizations done to CRM, can I build
single report by getting the data from two tables one from ECC and another from CRM?
    >> which then means for SSO you need to configure 2 SAP systems on the BusinessObjects Server
And one more question, If I could not succeed in getting the connectivity through the proper transport & authorization to
CRM, (lack of basis resources) then can I use BAPI / RFC'S to pull the data from CRM into ECC and then into CRYSTAL(as, ECC is working fine with crystal through the integration kit)? Is it a good practice? Thanks in advance.
    >> for CR then the ECC system would become the single point of entry. sure - that would work as well - but shoulnd't be necessary

  • Stand alone labview application (.exe file) does not run properly

    Hi all,
I am trying to make a stand alone labview application to run on another computer ( I have never done this before).
I went through the tools->build application prompts and was able to build an exe file.
the program is supposed to control a power meter and make power measurements then save them to a text file.
When I run the exe file, on the same computer I compiled the exe file on, the program generates a text file to save data to but it can not communicate with the power meter.
There are some sub-VIs and a dll file that are used to communicate with the power meter. Could it be that I am not telling labview to correctly
include these files when I create an executable?
What are some common problems that occur when generating stand alone applications that could be causing my issues?
And does anyone know of any good tutorials on generating stand alone applications in labview other than the NI help files?
    Thanks for your help,

I haven't tried to run this app on another computer yet. I'm just trying to run it on the computer it was developed on.
The computer I developed it on has all the drivers/resources I need to control the power meter.
Also, I don't know how to include the VISA runtime with my installer. could you explain how this is done?
This is the first time IV tried to turn any labview programs into stand alone exe files so I don't anything about how to do it other than what I've seen in youtube videos and help files.
If you know of any good tutorials that will help me figure this out I would appreciate it.
    Thanks,
My fault - I didn't read that this was the same computer.  I know the very end of Core 3 studies shows how to build an executable and installer, but even that is very general.  I'm not sure if there exists a tutorial on how to do it.
As for including the runtimes, when you build an installer, you have to include the runtimes that your executable will need.  It's fairly straightforward.
Since it won't run on the machine that built it, I'll have to think about it a little bit...

Could to associate the problem at Office 2013?

  • Recording Stand-alone Soft Synths & Virtual Instruments in Audition 3

    Hi People,
Have a little problem which I'm struggling to figure out.
I have been using Cool Edit Pro for several years. My set up has always enabled me to record any standalone Software Synths via my sound card. I have always had it set up so my sound card plays through patch one and records through another patch enabling me to record in the multi track editor with no problems at all and my set up records only the soft synth/instrument, and not any waves previously recoded. Instead just plays them back so I can build up my music and play along at any given time. Although this is a rather different approach to doing things, it suites me down to the ground and I'm happy to create this way
My problem has come upon whilst trying out the new Adobe Audition 3, which is based around ASIO Drivers. Because of this I can no longer run another program (Stand alone soft synth), because Adobe hogs the ASIO driver and will not allow another program to be run at the same time. I can use the Adobe windows driver for audition no problems and I am able to continue recording how I did with Cool Edit, but I would much prefer to go along with auditions ASIO drivers to make sure I am recording with the best quality and reliability.
My Sound card is an E-MU 1616 with breakout box. I have tried numerous ways with the patch mixer to get around this, for example I have tried using my sound cards driver for audition and ASIO4ALL2 for my soft synths. One of which is Hypersonic 2, and the other being SampleTank. I cannot for the life of me get my set up and running how it was with cool edit.
I must admit that although I have played around with my settings, it could be something simple I need to do that just hasn't jumped out at me yet. My evaluation of Audition 3 runs out in 20 days and I'm almost sure that there is a way to enable my set up to work how I want it to before I can go out and buy Audition 3. I'm very comfortable with audition 3, naturally. I love the changes and extra features it has now along from the cool edit days.
I have looked into other solutions as well after scouring message boards, one of which was Cycling 74 Soundflower, this sounded like it could be an answer but unfortunately it is Mac only. If Adobe did Audition for Mac then I wouldn't hesitate in going down that route...
My other solution is to have a second computer, either a modified mid range P C, or even a Mac, to act as my synth station and have my various software synths and such running on there and playing out to my recording PC with Audition on. This would free up the ASIO to be used by Audition solely. It's a long way around but wouldn't cost the earth and would be a simple enough idea to set up. But surly, I shouldn't need to go this far out to get my ideal setup.
Anyhow, I would much appreciate any advice and ideas to help me solve this problem; I will keep working at it in the mean time.
Hope my explanation makes sense above, I can appreciate that there are other ways like just going along with another program and such, but in all honesty I like the way I work and don't really want to move on, I'm more bothered about just getting on and recording new ideas in the environment I'm so use to. I love the way Cool Edit/Audition works for me and I have developed my own methods with the software over the years. Working with just audio suits me to the ground as I record and chop up my own Guitar bass and drums, along with sounds from my field recorder and a host of other methods and ideas.
    Thanks in advance

    Hi!
As long as your softsynths comes in the VSTi format (most of them do now), you can insert it on a track in Audition, which has 'host' capabilities from V3.
In the Multitrack, insert a new MIDI track from the 'Insert' menu (note: MIDI Track, not just 'MIDI').
On that track pane hit the 'Sequencer' button, and it will open in a separate window. In the pane left of the keyboard you can insert your VSTi of choice, and make your MIDI connections.
Back on the Main track pane, engage the 'L' button for Live monitoring. Actual recording (of MIDI) is done in the Sequencer window.
The usual, and recommended workflow is to keep the MIDI tracks 'open', i.e. you can edit the sound in your instrument and even the notes played at any time in the process, compiling the actual audio as the last step in the mixing.
If you kind of 'insist' on doing it the old way, you can export the audio from your recorded MIDI+VSTi creations track by track like this: Leave the Sequencer window open, make a selection in the multitrack that covers the time span you have played. Solo the track (will mute all others), and use File / Export Audio Mixdown. Use 'Master' as the source. This will give you a wave rendering of what's currently in the MIDI sequencer. Qualitywise this is better since it's all internal and digital instead of in/out of soundcards with DA/AD conversion etc.
I haven't found a method for a 'live' wave recording while you play, but there may be one...
If you purchase Audition it comes with Help files explaining this in more/better detail. ;)
