Standard (VL) versus Home & Business (OEM)

Let’s say, I don’t care about Publisher. Are there reasons to prefer the Standard edition, other than the introduced activation issues in Home & Business? After all, the price for one Standard license is twice as high than for one Home & Business
license.

yes, the price for one Standard license is twice as high than for one Home & Business license, but for VL licenses(Standard, pro plus) you have more benefits like terminal Services, downgrade rights, reimaging rights, you do not Need a Microsoft account
to activate the license, the Home & Business can be transfered only each 90 days.

    For some reason I cannot get WSUS updates to automatically install on clients running Office 2013 Home and Business OEM version.
    For example
    If user opens any of the office 2013 apps e.g. Outlook , word etc, it prompts a message at the top under the ribbon toolbar; UPDATE NOW.
    All other updates for OS are downloading and installing just fine from our WSUS server.
    What could this be?

    First thing you need to do is be absolutely certain which edition of Office you have installed.
    There are five editions of "Office 365" and these days, almost anything that is "OEM" is almost certainly Office 365:
    Office 365 Home
    Office 365 Personal
    Office 365 Small Business
    Office 365 Small Business Premium
    Office 365 Midsize Business
    Office 365 ships with an activation code for an online management account, and authorizes the installation of the software on up to five devices. Office 365 is updated via the WEB .. ONLY.
    In addition there are three editions of Office 2013:
    Office Home & Student
    Office Home & Business
    Office Professional
    If you have one of these three editions, you should also have a DVD and a Product Activation Code for the SINGLE-PC installation which is licensed for these editions provided by the vendor of your computers. Office 2013 can be updated using WSUS.
    Since you're getting a prompt IN THE APPLICATION to "Update Now", I believe you're looking at instances of Office 365, not Office 2013. Office 2013 (desktop) does not provide in-product prompts for updates/upgrades.

  • Use one account or multiple for 10 domain users of Office 2013 Home & Business

    I have 10 seats of the retail version of Office Home & Business 2013 for use in a domain environment. Windows 7 Pro 64, Server 2008R2 environment. No exchange. Blank slate.
    Should I install all with the same account for ease of management, or setup a new MS Live account for each user? Can I do either, and what are the advantages to each?

    On the Microsoft page you will find a difference between Vista Home, Business or Ultimate.
    The ultimate is the highest version which includes all Vista applications. But this version cost about 550-600$

  • Word and Excel (Office Home & Business 2013) are taking a lot of time to be open

    i have MS Office Home & Business 2013 in windows 7 Pro .
    word, excel and power point files are taking so much time to be open.  same with the email attachment.
    it shows like "Not Responding"
    file size is not that large as it is taking time.
    if any body have any suggestion kindly share.  i am in deep trouble.

    Did the issue occur when you opened the file that stored in the local disk or a network?
    If the issue occurred with the local disk file, please try the following method:
    Word
    HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Word.Document.12\Shell\Open\Command                
    Rename Subkey “Command” to “Old_Command”                
    Rename Key “ddeexec” to “Old_ddeexec”
    Using FileType Manager change .xls from Word.Sheet.8 to Word.Sheet.12 In the Open Command appended “%1”  
    .docx In the Open Command appended “%1”  
    Excel
    HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Excel.sheet.12\Shell\Open\Command

    Next, if the issue occurred with network file, the issue may be caused by the Office File Validation, please try to turn off it to test.
    For Excel 2013

    Look for a DWORD value labeled DisableRobustifiedUNC set to a value of 1. If this is set on your machine, it's recommended you delete this value or set the DWORD value to 0.

    Office 2013 Home & Business Edition - None of the application (Word, Powerpoint, Excel or Outlook) is opening, not even in safe mode.. I tried to run the application in compatibility mode by right clicking the excel.exe and choosing the compatibility
    mode, still no success. It is installed on Windows 7 Professional SP1. All the latest updates are already installed. I have also tried Microsoft fixit, but still no Success. Please help!! 

    I'm so sorry that I forgot the Office programs even not open in safe mode and provide useless information in my last reply.
    The problem persists when we perform a Windows clean boot, right?
    Were the Office programs suddenly not working? Or it just can’t be open after you install it? Did you get any error message?

    Could I understand that you just want to reinstall outlook in Home & Business 2013? Firstly,  if you install Office suite by .msi package, you please go to Go to Control panel>Program and features>Office>Change>Add or remove feature>
    locate the Outlook entry and Set as unavailable.
    install office365(2013) by click to run? You can't remove individual programs because when you get Microsoft Office 365

    I wish to know if there is a way to download Windows 7 Home Premium OEM to a Notebook ThinkPad Y 570.
    (What I done before)
    I try ti recover the O.S. with One Key Recover and does not work.
    Then I downloaded Windows 7 Home Premium ISO installer and I format all the partitions of the notebook.
    But when I click to install Win7 a message saying that "windows cannot be installed on that partition" appears.
    Can I download a Windows 7 Home Premium OEM?

    Choose your version and use the s/n on the sticker of your computer (on the back or under the battery for laptops)
    Remember choose the version for which your computer is licensed.

    System Builder - just be sure to get 64-bit version, no one needs or wants 32-bit today, and only comes with one, while retail ships with both 32/64-bit media.
    you can't install it and activate on different hardware later is all, and by then for what you saved, so what, Windows 8 or SP2 will be out.
    A few people had trouble with Windows 7 SP1 for some reason and not sure exactly why, changes to the boot loader on the DVD I presume.

  • My Macbook can't read my Windows 7 Home Premium OEM SB disc.

    So, I got the Windows 7 Home Premium OEM System Builder Pack today, but my Macbook won't read it. It's a Macbook from 2010 with a 64 bit processor, as the DVD requires.
    I can hear it trying to boot the DVD up about 5 times before it gives up and spits it out again.

    maybe the dvd is damaged so the dvdreader can't read it?

    I have an issue related to Office h&b 2013 and Lync 2013.
    Office h&b is installed on many computers, and we are deploying Lync 2013.
    In Lync 2013 it's possible to share Powerpoint presentation (if you have a Office Web Apps server installed).
    With a PC using Office Pro 2013, no problem. Powerpoint sharing with Lync 2013 is working.
    With a PC using Office H&B 2013, I have a message : 
    "XXXXX.pptx couldn't be converted for presentations because Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) is not installed on this computer. Please
    install VBA and try again."
    VBA is installed and usable in all Office applications.
    Office H&B is a click to Run installation and doesn't permit to add or remove features.
    Lync 2013 custom install permit to choose the installed features. VBA is already installed.
    I searched in many forums, including this one, and... no answers, or better say, no good answers.
    Because :
    - It's not possible add VBA from Office H&B 2013 install.
    - Repairing Office does not solve the problem.
    Any Idea ?

  • Vista - buy Business OEM or not?

    Hi, I bought a MacBook Pro a couple of days ago and I am thinking of running Vista, since I need to use several software for college that do not have Mac OS versions.
    I want to keep the cost of obtaining and using Vista as low as possible, while being able to run Vista in Parallels. I am considering to get Vista Business OEM, but I was wondering if there were any issues attempting to install Business OEM. Has anyone been able to successfully installed and run Business OEM on their Macs (espacially under Parallels)? Is there anything you would advice me in making a choice about my purchase?
    By the way it seems, I will probably use this Vista version for as long as this laptop will last me, since I will be running Vista for merely Windows-only applications.
    In general, any feedback even on Vista OEM running on Boot Camp would be appreciated.

    Well, I previously checked up with the software my college uses for some of the undergraduate coursework, but I found that although some of them have Mac versions of the software, many do not. That is to say, that my college holds only the Windows version of the software, and although there may be Mac versions out there, I do not want to spend a lot of money purchasing software from outside my school (since I can obtain all the software from my school at zero or minimal cost).
    But, on the other hand, there may be alternative applications that my professors may accept that runs on OS X. But because I don't have that much time until I start college, nor do I know much about each software and what it does, I don't think I'm in a position to search for the alternatives.

    correct me if i am wrong you can order the restore disc from hp if the device is less than 5 years old or less depending how far hp will go back since so many new PCs and hp may go less that 5 years and you may need to order outside of HP support as for the pirate windows and this miscrosoft will not allow you any MsUpdates on their website and pirated copys of windows are a spell for trouble with glitched or security issues protecting your PC if it were me and i would use the restore disc to get the PC back where it was from the manufacture pre-installation
