Standby not in sync

Hi ,
Oracle version 10.2.0.3.0(windows server)
My standby db was out of sync due to missing log. I have done the following steps
1. alter database recover managed standby database cancel;
2.recover standby database until calcel;(recovered till last generated log)
3.ALTER DATABASE RECOVER MANAGED STANDBY DATABASE USING CURRENT LOGFILE DISCONNECT FROM SESSION;
after that i checked the MRP process using below command,
select process,status from v$managed_standby;
PROCESS STATUS
ARCH CONNECTED
ARCH CONNECTED
MRP0 WAIT_FOR_LOG
But the problem now is no archivelog copying to the standby server autmoatically.
I switched logfile in the primary but the log is not transferring to standby. Please help.
Regards
Arun

  • Standby not in sync with primary

    Hi,
    I am having oracle 9.2.0.7 on AIX and having physical standby database running on another server. Since the last 2 days it is not in sync and the required archivelog files are removed from production.
    Could you please help me out to resolve the issue?
    Thanx

    Hi
    Step 1 On the standby database, find the SCN which will be used for the incremental
    backup at the primary database:
    SQL> SELECT CURRENT_SCN FROM V$DATABASE;
    Step 2 In RMAN, connect to the primary database and create an incremental backup
    from the SCN derived in the previous step:
    Step 3 RMAN> BACKUP INCREMENTAL FROM SCN <SCN from previous step>
    DATABASE FORMAT '/tmp/ForStandby_%U' tag 'FORSTANDBY';
    step 4 Transfer all backup sets created on the primary system to the standby system
    SCP /tmp/ForStandby_* standby:/tmp
    Step 5 Connect to the standby database as the RMAN target, and catalog all incremental
    backup pieces:
    RMAN> CATALOG START WITH '/tmp/ForStandby';
    Step 6 Recover the standby database with the cataloged incremental backup:
    RMAN> RECOVER DATABASE NOREDO;
    Step 7 In RMAN, connect to the primary database and create a standby control file
    backup:
    RMAN> BACKUP CURRENT CONTROLFILE FOR STANDBY FORMAT '/tmp/ForStandbyCTRL.bck';
    Step 8 Copy the standby control file backup to the standby system. For example:
    SCP /tmp/ForStandbyCTRL.bck standby:/tmp
    Step 9 Shut down the standby database and startup nomount:
    RMAN> SHUTDOWN;
    RMAN> STARTUP NOMOUNT;
    Step 10 In RMAN, connect to standby database and restore the standby control file:
    RMAN> RESTORE STANDBY CONTROLFILE FROM '/tmp/ForStandbyCTRL.bck';
    Step 11 Shut down the standby database and startup mount:
    RMAN> SHUTDOWN;
    RMAN> STARTUP MOUNT;
    Step 12 If the primary and standby database data file directories are identical, skip to step13. If the primary and standby database data file directories are different, then in
    RMAN, connect to the standby database, catalog the standby data files, and switch
    the standby database to use the just-cataloged data files. For example:
    RMAN> CATALOG START WITH '+DATA_1/CHICAGO/DATAFILE/';
    RMAN> SWITCH DATABASE TO COPY;
    Step 13 If the primary and standby database redo log directories are identical, skip to step 14. Otherwise, on the standby database, use an OS utility or the asmcmd utility (if
    it is an ASM-managed database) to remove all online and standby redo logs from
    the standby directories and ensure that the LOG_FILE_NAME_CONVERT parameter
    is properly defined to translate log directory paths. For example, LOG_FILE_
    NAME_CONVERT=’/BOSTON/’,’/CHICAGO/’.
    Step 14 On the standby database, clear all standby redo log groups (there may be more
    than 3):
    SQL> ALTER DATABASE CLEAR LOGFILE GROUP 1;
    SQL> ALTER DATABASE CLEAR LOGFILE GROUP 2;
    SQL> ALTER DATABASE CLEAR LOGFILE GROUP 3;
    Step 15 On the standby database, restart Flashback Database:
    SQL> ALTER DATABASE FLASHBACK OFF;
    SQL> ALTER DATABASE FLASHBACK ON;
    Step 16 On the standby database, restart MRP:
    SQL> ALTER DATABASE RECOVER MANAGED STANDBY DATABASE DISCONNECT;
    With this you can recvoer your Standby . I wish it will works for You.
    Thanks
    Karan

  • Standby not in sync because test on primary of transportable tablespace etc

    This environment is new build environment , have not in use yet.
    db version is 11.2.0.3 in linux, both primary/standby are configured in RAC two nodes and storage are in ASM storage.
    primary db had tested by migration data using transportable tablespace methods. So the datafiles imported were put in a local filesystem which I have to switch to ASM afterwards.
    In such way, the standby db got the impression that datafiles should be in local filesystem and it got invalidated.
    Here is the error from standby log:
    ORA-01157: cannot identify/lock data file 4 - see DBWR trace file
    ORA-01110: data file 4: '/stage/index.341.785186191'
    and datafiles names are all in local filesystem in standby: /stage/...../
    However in primary datafile names are all in ASM instance:
    +DAT/prd/datafile/arindex.320.788067609
    How to resolve such situation?
    Thanks

    My steps for transportable tablespaces after scp the datafiles to linux are import the transportable datafiles into the database. and then using rman to copy it to "+DATA' in asm. and then switch dababase to copy.
    Those procedure all worked on primary.
    The standby was built before the transportable tablespace when there are only system, users, tools etc basic tablespaces. it worked and in sync with primary. However everytime the primary tested data migration with the transportable tablespaces, it will not work.
    so what is the right way to perform this migration? how can I made standby in sync with primary and to read the datafiles in ASM storage?
    Is there a way before the RMAN command to transfer the filesystem datafile to ASM, can I copy those local filesystem datafiles to ASM storage ? then do a import transportable datafiles with those on ASM?If you added any datafiles manually then those will be created in standby also as per the settings,
    But here you performing TTS, of course DML/DDLs can be transfered to standby by archive logs, but what about actual datafiles? Here in this case files exist in primary & those files not exist in standby
    AFAIK, you have to perform couple of steps. Once after your complete migration done in primary do as follows. (Do test it)
    1) Complete your migration on primary
    -- Check all data file status and location.
    2) Now Restore standby controlfile & newly migrated tablespaces in standby Database
    -- here you can directly restore to ASM using RMAN, because you are taking backup in primary using RMAN. So RMAN can restore them directly in ASM file system.
    3) Make sure you have all the datafiles where you want and take care no one data file is missing. Crosscheck all tablespace information in primary & standby databases.
    4) Now start *MRP*
    Here is my above plan, But I suggest to test it...
    One question, After *successful migration* are you able to SYNC standby with primary earlier ?

  • Checking  Whether Physical Standby is in Sync with the Primary

    I writing script to alert dba if primary and standby database are not in sync. I use article - How To Check Whether Physical Standby is in Sync with the Primary? ID 861595.1
    It suggests comparing Last Sequence Generated on primary and Last Sequence Received on standby for each thread. And if they are not equal - NOT in sync.
    My assumption is that if there are multiple threads we running RAC. Is it correct ?
    And if we running RAC as far as I am aware it's sufficient to have one thread in sync.
    Please comment on this
    Thanks in advance

The only way I am able to bypass the message that pops out when I try to sync (the one in the title) is by clicking "Apply" instead of "Sync". To do this, I make changes to Apps, Music, or Movies (...) and the buttons "Revert" and "Apply" will replace the button "Sync".
    My problem is most likely not due to using many accounts because I only have one and it is the only one that I use. I do not share accounts with my family members. Still, I have tried everything here, nothing has worked for me. Since I don't often listen to Podcasts, I have deleted them from my iPod. I have no idea why I am unable to sync and no one seems to have the same problem as me.

    The problem appeared to be a Pending Request on the IPAD for the new ICLOUD option to share Keychain. I cleared that up and it appears that fixed the issue. Thanks for your help

  • I want to move voice memos from iPhone to PC (not just sync to itunes)

    Hi,
    I want to move voice memos from my iPhone to Windows desktop. I saw several posts about syncing them to iTunes. Thats not what i want. I want to copy them to my desktop not just sync to iTunes. Unable to copy - paste from iTunes either.

    impossible to do anything simple on iTunes, I managed to wipe all my recorded voice memos when I tried to move my files from iphone to desktop, instead they just "sync" I never got the point with sync, why can't you just export files and import files from desktop, simple as that why make it so complicated

    I am new to Apple!
    Ah, new to routers too.
    Perhaps it's best to have a local computer support person come set you up?
    To explain everything would require writing a book here.
    But this is what you want basically.
    Router, new Wireless N, firmware updated.
    1: Two accounts, one admin, one guest Internet access. Random +30 plus character lenght passwords each preferred.
    (guest password to max password length of any iDevices)
    2: Encryption: WPA2 AES. No Ping. No remote access. No MAC filtering. Visible.
    3: Guest access on devices and computers only.  Passwords written down and stored.
    4: OpenDNS preferred but not mandatory.
    If you get OpenDNS, you can log into their website for free and set parental controls on things like inappropriate sites for children. So whatever device is used on your network can't access a large portion of those sites (nothing is perfect) by most users who are not technical oriented.
    What your doing now is running the bare bones unsecure router which can be used harmfully against you.
    Even a Apple Airport router has to be very well secured. The defautl cd and out of the box setup is not a secure solution.

  • I lost my itunes after syncing and older iphone to my powermac g4.  Originally I had an older ipod nano that I would sync to the g4 and everything was fine. Lost itunes music even though preferences had been set in advance for not automatically syncing.

    My itunes library had been fine.  I had been using an older ipod nano to sync with my itunes library and had been doing manual syncs, with the preferences in itunes set for not allowing "ipods or iphones" to sync automatically.  I found out that apple had a program to replace the battery on this older ipod nano, so I sent it in.  It was great, they didn't have an exact replacement and sent me a later ipod nano.  However, this ipod nano is so new - I will have to get a newer computer with a later operating system to use it.
    So, I thought I'd use my old iphone to listen to my old playlists.  I thought the preferences were set for not automatically syncing iphone to itunes.
    I've had problems in the past with the syncs with this iphone and my computer because of the USB port (1.1).  I'm thinking this was the problem.
    The apple store did something to update the software on my iphone when it wasn't working one day. I think that when I tried to sync the iphone to the g4 cube via the old port (1.1) it basically wiped out everything on my itunes.  Whatever was my selected playlist for my iphone - that was the only music
    that remained on my computer and the iphone.  I only had about 20 songs purchased on my library, but alot of music that had been downloaded, I gave away those original cds.  I did have a back up on my external drive, but that thing died a few weeks ago from some random power outtages we had this fall.
    I'm not looking to purchase retrieval software or have some outside third party to retrieve it for me.  It's not that much music lost.  I just wanted confirmation that this is what happened: that my old iphone sync is what erased the music.

    The old iTunes library was lost with the old PC.  However, it all that music and content is still on your iPod there are many ways you can extract this content from the iPod and import it back into iTunes.
    Your iPod is designed to sync with only one iTunes library at a time.  It will recognize the iTunes library on the new PC as a new library.  If you sync the iPod with this new library, all content will be erased from the iPod and replaced with what is in the new library.  So what you will want to do is copy everything from the iPod to your new iTunes library on your PC first.
    See this older post from another forum member Zevoneer covering the different methods and software available to assist you with the task of copying content from your iPod back to your PC and into iTunes.

  • I installed Mountain Lion so that I could sync my notes with my iPhone that already syncs notes with a specific email address I use for school, but during the install it automatically set up Notes to sync w the wrong email addy. How can I fix it?

    I installed Mountain Lion so that I could sync my notes with my iPhone that already syncs notes with a specific email address I use for school, but during the install it automatically set up Notes to sync w the wrong email addy. It looked in Mail, which had 5 email accounts set up in it, and for some reason picked the only one that I no longer use because it is for a school that I no longer attend. How can I fix it so that it syncs with the correct email account for notes and calendar? There don't seem to be any settings available other than to check if you want to use the basic features. It also said during the set up that it was setting up 'find my mac' but if I look on the iCloud website there is nothing showing there for finding my mac.
    At this point I feel like I wasted my money paying for this supposed upgrade. I got nothing for it but frustration. It even automatically set my security settings to allow only downloads from the Mac store so the first time I went to download something I had to stop what I was doing and go correct settings first. I feel like there should be a security setting to block downloads from the Mac store so I don't accidentally end up clicking the wrong thing and being charged.

    iCloud isn't syncing them on your phone.  You simply added the email account to your phone and enabled calendar and notes syncing with the email provider, and the calendar and notes appear in the calendar and notes apps on your phone.  You can do this with Gmail, Yahoo and other IMAP account.  iCloud email is just another IMAP account, but syncs notes with Apple's iCloud server just as Gmail syncs notes and calendars with Google's server.
    iCloud didnt' set up a non-iCloud account on your Mac.  When you check Mail in System Preferences>iCloud, it only creates an iCloud email account.  You can also add other email accounts to your Mac by going to System Preferences>Mail,Contacts,Calendars and clicking on the "+" sign on the bottom of the left sidebar.  If you added these other email accounts to your Mac before you upgraded to Mountain Lion, these were simply maintained on your Mac after you upgraded.

  • If you are attempting to update using a Mac or PC with which you do not normally sync

    what happens when "If you are attempting to update using a Mac or PC with which you do not normally sync", & they say in step 2 or 3 in order not to loose your stuff "If you are updating your iOS device on a computer with which you do not normally sync , or if you disconnect your device before the sync process is complete, you may notice that some media content that was previously on your device is no longer there. You can restore this content by syncing with the Mac or PC with which you normally sync."
    now what if the pc that was originally used to sync my ipod , has corrupt or  bad systems files that are causing it from working correctly...? when i plug it in to the o.g. operating sysytems (win xp) it doesnt ever recognize or discover the ipod through itunes.  the pc will pop up the "cameras been plugged in, what would you like to do...?" but nothing thru itunes.  now if i reboot & run the windows 7 operating system w/itunes that has backed my ipod before & synced a few times as well, but not the o.g. op system used from the beginning (the very initial set up done on the ipod) it works fine, but DOES give me the warning "updating to 5.0 willdelete some of your apps & media, including ...  ....will only preserve contacts, calenders," ....etc.
    MY HUGE CONCERN IS if i do hit update & go through w/it, & not having been able to sync it to the one normally used to sync my ipod, will that back up i made be able to restore my game seetings, GAME SAVES, & data achievement type information....?
    please, i'm very hesitant to go through w/it, so if you can please help me out here & let me know asap.....i canimagine you're all busy busy, so  i thank you for your time here w/this
    thank you

    Not that hard. One the computer you are using do the following:
    - Transfer iTunes purchases.
    iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer
    - Transfer other music using a third-party program like one of those discussed here.
    Copy music
    - If you have synced photos you need a paid program like TouchCopy or PhoneView
    - When all the media in on the computer, connect the iPod to the computer and make a backup by right clicking on the iPod under Devices in iTunes and select Back Up
    - Restore the iPod from that backup.
    That computer is now your syncing computer. Note that the iPod backup that iTunes makes does not included synced media like apps or music.
