Start javaws application just with X server
Hello!
I hope someone can help me to get my javaws application started without any window manager just by using a x server.
It works by starting xterm (xinit /usr/bin/xterm) and then stating my application in xterm by "javaws http://url".
Is it possible to get my application started directly? (Without xterm...)
Do I understand it right? Before I can start the application, X server has to be running? After that start the javaws command?
How can I get this managed?
Thanks a lot!
Yves
There must be *some* foreground process to keep the connection with the xserver - in common setups a window manager will serve this purpose, but it could be anything else.
If the javaws call is backgrounded (is this mandatory / can you override this) then you need some other process.
One way would be to launch it from your xinitrc, then get the PID and wait for that PID to close. The simplest implementation of this would be with the following in your xinitrc:
javaws httpp://...
wait $?
EDIT2: The second line should be something like:
wait $(pidof javaws)
Actually, after rereading `man wait` the $? which speicfies the PID may not even be necessary.
EDIT: completely OT, Karol is our "Archivist" now?

Finding out which jarfile that is starting the application
Ok the thing is, i need the JarFile which started the application.
With javaws, it seems like they change the name of the jar file when you deploy it with jws, so how can i in the main() method of the Main class get the instance of the JarFile which it is started from?Hi,
May i know which app you are talking about.
If you are talking about IPC then, you can generate the trace of the Product Configuration web page and in the source code you get, you can see which scenario was chosen.
If you are talking of ISA, then you can either see this in the URL that launches the app or in the XCM setting page, which scenario has been set to the default one.
Let me know in case you need more info.

Error Establishing Socket with SQL Server 2000
I have a java application that uses JDBC to connect to a source of data.
The application has been installed on many platforms using many different data sources, but one combination has beaten me.
I am using Windows Server 2003 and SQL Server 2000 Enterprise, when the application starts up it fails to connect to the database with the following message:
[Microsoft][SQL Server 2000 Driver for JDBC] Error Establishing Socket
I have looked at a lot of forums and tried many things but nothing has fixed the problem for me:
To summarise:
The URL I am using is jdbc:microsoft:sqlserver://locahost:1433
I have also tried using the name of the machine and it's actual IP address
I have checked that TCP/IP is enabled and using the correct port (1433)
Both SQL Server and Windows authentication are enabled and I can connect using both method from ODBC
I can connect to it and use it with c#.net, vb.net and ODBC from the same machine
I have installed the latest SQL Server 2000 service pack
The application works with SQL Server 2000 Developer on Windows XP
If anyone has any other suggestions, I would love to hear from you.If you printed out the SQL state and error code that would be a bit more info:
catch (SQLException e)
e.printStackTrace();
System.err.println("SQL state: " + e.getSQLState());
System.err.println("SQL error: " + e.getErrorCode());
}Maybe that will give you more detail as to exactly why this is happening.
The only other thought I had was security. Maybe there's a permission to access the port that would have to be granted explicitly as part of M$'s new emphasis on security. You did say it was Windoze Server 2003. Maybe that's the difference between all the other installs and this one.
No joy from me, sorry. - MOD -
EP not starting. "Application Stopped"
When i login to portal , it is giving me a mesage A"application Stopped"
but when l see the SAP MMc everthing is in green colour
I tried login to go. bat. I could login, but it is telling that it is running safe mode
Pls tell me of whether changing to SAFE MODE=NO will solve the problem or not
Also tell me whether changing safe mode will affect other changes or notWere you doing any upgrade/update of j2ee ? J2EE is set to safe mode during the upgrade/updates or if someone manually set it to 'safe mode' using configtool.
If not, you could set it back to the normal mode using the config tool -> File -> Safe Mode -> No, save and restart the engine.
It is possible that the j2ee engine is up and that's why you see all the processes green in SAPMMC, however, the applications are stopped and so you can not run the
portal.
You could start the telnet administrator (telnet <host> 5<instance no.>08), login as j2ee administrator, jump to server node (by default it is on dispatcher node, execute jump 0 to jump on server node), execute command 'add deploy', execute command 'start_app -all'. This will start all applications on that particular server node. If you have multiple server nodes, you will need to do so on all.
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/ae/01343ef3f9ff2de10000000a114084/content.htm
However, I think once you return the j2ee back to normal mode and restart, it should start all applications again.
Hope this helps.

weblogic.developer.interest.ejb.
If your weblogic server talkes to RemoteClient object on the other weblogic
server. You had to put those xxx_Stub.class in WEBLOGICCLASSPATH of your
weblogic server.
For remote classloading is just for weblogic server to weblogic client. It
is not happened in weblogic server to weblogic server.
Hope it helps.

I have tried to re-install OAS for the second time. But I still
got the same problem.
I plan to use the OAS, together with Oracle Internet Commerce

download and install the ICS. I don't have any Oracle databases
installed in my machine. I'm using MS SQL Server 7.0 instead.
Please advised me on how to configure the ORB so that I'll be

Run application code on sharepoint server start-up
Hi,
I am building a sharepoint 2010 application (server APIs, c#) that sends notification messages via TCP from sharepoint server to server X whenever a file changes in a sharepoint library. I have my code in ItemUpdated() method
of my class inherited from SPItemEvenReceiver.
Apart from notification messages I need to send keep alive messages to server X every T seconds. These keep alives have to be sent after the application is installed on the sharepoint server and whenever it's up and running. I do it by listening to FeatureActivated event
of SPFeatureReceiver.
So when the feature is activated on a site collection, my "init" code runs and starts sending keep alive messages.
When either of the following events happen:
1) IIS application pool gets recycled every day at 1:50 am (default setting), or 2) server is powered down, then powered up
my "init" code is not executed (because there is no "Feature activate" event), and keep alives are not sent.
Is there a way of receiving of some sort of event in my application that would fire in both cases, so I could run my "init" code? Or maybe, some deployment option that would allow to run the "init" code tight after sharepoint server started
(or application pool recycled)?
Thanksthe reason it's unreliable is because you're designing based on the assumption that SharePoint will "somehow / magically" let your app know when it's "running" (which is itself somewhat of a nebulous definition, since SP consists of a
*lot* of moving parts, such as many instances of IIS, timer applications, multiple servers, etc).
Instead, take the events, log them to a queue (MSMQ, custom service app / database, whatever)... then implement a circuit breaker design for pushing, and a backup design for polling the data.
i'm not sure quite what your intentions are with the keepalive, and you can do wahtever you like, I'm just telling you that the approach will eventually bite you.

Then close all open browser windows and try again...
Note that disabling proxy servers in the Java Web Start tool will not affect normal Java Applets, which are handled by the Java browser plugin which comes with its own proxy configuration screen. If you company uses a proxy between its LAN and the net, the above setting will stop your uses from running any Java Web Start applications, such as BLE, but not very many people use these anyways, so the impact should be minimal.
Good luck,

How to start a application with a login window?
hi there
does anyone have any idea on how to start an application with a login window? a login window is the first frame or window to be displayed when an application starts running. and only correct login id and password have been entered the real application will start. any sample out there? thank you.You can start a new thread by making a thread object and passing it an implementation of a runnable object. Runnable has just one method, public void run(), this is was gets executed in a second thread. perhaps the code you would use would look something like this.
<code>
// set up thread for login window
new Thread(new Runnable() {
public void run() {
// construct your login window here
// when you are done processing the
// password....
if(goodPassword) {
authorized = true; // a global variable
notifyAll(); // don't forget this
else {
System.exit(42);
}).start();
// control does not stop this code gets executed while
// the above thread is running.
// Set up main program here. This is done in the
// backround.
while(!authorized) {
synchronized(this)
{ wait(50); }
// now when the user logs in this frame pops
// up real quick.
myFrame.setVisible(true);
</code>
Hope you can figure it out.. good luck :) -
Integrating J2EE application with SQL Server Reporting Services
Hello everybody,
I want to integrate a J2EE application with SQL Server 2005 Reporting Services. In fact, it is the first time to be involved in developing an interoperability component between .Net web service and Java application. So I have learned for some time how to pass this challenge. Moreover, I found the following virtual lab is an excellent starting point "MSDN Virtual Lab: Implementing SQL Server Reporting Services with a Java Enterprise Edition (EE) Application" [http://msevents.microsoft.com/CUI/WebCastEventDetails.aspx?EventID=1032315323&EventCategory=3&culture=en-US&CountryCode=US]
After going through the lab, I tried to apply the same code in my machine but I have stuck with the following error:

ABAP Trial version u2013 starting the application server
Hi,
I have a problem starting the application server via the management console. After choosing action ->start I have to enter user and password. Do I have to create a new user password combination, use the OS password or try bcuser and minisap? None of these three options worked out. I always get the message 'Start failed: 2 Invalid Credentials'. Or went there something wrong during the installation?
Thanks for your help.
BirgitHey Birgit,
In my case I installed ABAP Trial version (also known as MiniSap) on my local machine (Windows).
When I turn on the machine, my Windows(OS) requires a User/Password (It was configured this way but it is possible you configure to not require a User/Password, it uses a default).
When I instaled the ABAP Trial version, I logged on with a User/Password with administrator rights (it is necessary for installation).
When, in the "Management Console", I start the ABAP (the "NSP" node), it asks me the user and password and I use the OS User/Password that I used to install ABAP Trial (above).
If you are doing the same I don't know why the message "Start failed: 2 Invalid Credentials".
Merry Christmas,

Would be more helpful if you can mention, the O/S. Also, pls mention where
you are getting this error, at kjs or kxs, or, are you able to start the server
and at which specific instance do you encounter this.
