Start process from JSP which continues running after response is completed

Is it possible to start a process from within JSP which can continue running after the HTTP response is complete, so the response doesn't time out??

Your question is a little vague. If I am understanding your question correctly, it sounds like you are starting a process in JSP that takes a long time, and the browser is timing out. If this is your question, then here is my response:
We've had this situation before. Often times it occurs because the JSP page launches a long database operation that could take an hour. You have a few choices, but one good approach is this (any variation of this works too):
1. When the page loads and you need the process to start, create a new thread and have the long operation run from this thread. You can put the thread object into a session variable and store it for later use.
2. Have the JSP code output a META-REFRESH tag on the page so that the page refreshes every 30 seconds or so.
3. On each refresh, you get the thread object from the session context and check it to see if it is done or still running. If it is, then just output another META-REFRESH and the page will keep refreshing itself. If it is done, you can, of course, output a "finished" message to the user.
You can also have a stop button on the page that you can use to send a message to the thread to stop.
Hope that gives you some ideas!
Michael

    Hi,
    Enter-PSSession is used for interactive remote sessions. Look into Invoke-Command instead.

  • Lxappearance process continues running after closing

    I noticed today that after I close the lxappearance window it continues running in the background until I manually kill it with killall. I was wondering if anybody else has experienced this, and is there a way to make it stop? Its really not a big deal since I rarely use lxappearance, but its still quite annoying.

    It happened to me every time I used it as well.  Here's a bug report (filed by someone else)
    http://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.ph … tid=894869
    Doesn't look like anyone's done anything about it yet.  The fact that it only happens outside of LXDE sounds pretty weird to me.  I don't even understand how that could happen.

  • Why servo continue run after going to a reference position?

    Hi,
    My project has a motion system use PXI 3750 + UMI 7774 + 3 AKD. I am using FlexMotion (NI 73xx) library to program. So far I can drive 3 axises to limit sensor (no home) with reset position, then it can goes to an absolute position. Now what I want is from that absolute position, 3 axises drives to a relative position. By some reason, after go to the relative position point, one or two servo continue run until it is stopped by limit sensor. What I do in my program is configure the motion for 3 axises (velocity, accel, decel), set the operation mode (absolute, relative), load vector space position, then start motion.
    Thank you for your time reading and answering my question.

    Hi NTT,
    Just to confirm, you home your coordinate system using limit switches and then do an absolute position move. After that you then do a relative move. But what is occuring is that you get one or two servos continuing to move. Another thing you mentioned is that one limit switch is active, meaning it will do the behavior of whatever you programmed your limit switch to do. One thing I might do is to monitor the position to see where LabVIEW might think the motor is, in case it is different from the actual position. Another thing I would check is to see if there is a portion of your code which handles the z axis limit switch being active to see if that moves the other servos to certain positions.

  • Problem in invoking a BPEL process from JSP

    I've deployed HelloWorld BPEL from the samples. It's working fine from the BPEL Console. After that I created a JSP page to invoke this BPEL process. My JSP code looks like this:'
    <%@page import="com.oracle.bpel.client.Locator" %>
    <%@page import="com.oracle.bpel.client.NormalizedMessage" %>
    <%@page import="com.oracle.bpel.client.delivery.IDeliveryService" %>
    <html>
    <head>
    <title>Invoke HelloWorld</title>
    </head>
    <body>
    <%
    String name = request.getParameter("name");
    if(name == null)
    name = "BPEL";
    System.out.println("Before XML..........");
    String xml = "<name xmlns=\"http://samples.otn.com/helloworld\">" + name + "</name>";
    System.out.println("Before Locator..........");
    Locator locator = new Locator("default","oc4jadmin");
    System.out.println("After Locator..........");
    IDeliveryService deliveryService = (IDeliveryService)locator.lookupService(IDeliveryService.SERVICE_NAME );
    // construct the normalized message and send to Oracle BPEL Process Manager
    NormalizedMessage nm = new NormalizedMessage( );
    nm.addPart("payload" , xml );
    System.out.println("Before Delivery Service Post..........");
    deliveryService.post("HelloWorld", "initiate", nm);
    System.out.println( "BPELProcess HelloWorld initiated!" );
    out.println( "BPELProcess HelloWorld initiated!" );
    %>
    Please refer to the
    BPEL Console
    to see the status of the initiated HelloWorld BPEL Process.
    </body>
    </html>
    Now when I try to execute this JSP using the URL:
    http://localhost:8888/hello/invokeHelloWorld.jsp
    I am getting the following error:
    Servlet error: An exception occurred. The current application deployment descriptors do not allow for including it in this response. Please consult the application log for details.
    Can anyone help me out of this?
    Thanks in anticipation. Awaiting for your reply.
    Thanks & Regards

    I got it atlast. Actually I wanted application log to see the error. I found this log file(application.log) under
    <ORACLE_AS_HOME>\j2ee\home\application-deployments\hello\home_default_group_1
    I found that since this is a JSF application, i am missing the '/faces' in the URL and because of which, it was unable to find the FacesContext.
    It's working now. Thanks a lot for your support.

    But I'm getting an exception. I'm in deep trouble please help me. Urgent

    Yeah ..This is my final project for my masters degree.
    I'm integrating BPEL with GIS(Geographic Information System) webservices provided by ESRI(Arcweb services). My main BPEL process that I built follows this sample example. The problem is that I need to show a working client application within 2 days or else my project is termed as incomplete and my graduation will be postponed to next semester. :(
    I tried your advice, as soon as I add a Java code to my BPEL process, the application is taking longer time to execute in the BPEL console itself.
    <bpelx:exec xmlns:bpelx="http://schemas.oracle.com/bpel/extension" language="java" version="1.4" name="exec-1">
    <![CDATA[setConversationId("output");]]>
    </bpelx:exec>
    So after the thread sleep the webservice is not ready to give its output.
    Just a quick thought, I assumed that if I attach the output of the my Invoke(Client) to a Reply activity,which will make it a two way operation.
    Then I could use,
    NormalizedMessage res = deliveryService.request("SpatialQuery", "initiate", nm);
    will work.
    I assigned the ouput of the Invoke(Client) to the variable in Reply activity.
    But my reply activity is throwing a NULL pointer exception.
    This is my BPEL code:
    <sequence name="main">
              <receive name="receiveInput" partnerLink="client" portType="tns:InvokeTest" operation="initiate" variable="input" createInstance="yes"/>
              <assign name="assign-1">
                   <copy>
                        <from variable="input" part="payload" query="/nsxml0:InvokeTestRequest/nsxml0:username"></from>
                        <to variable="IsaInput" part="parameters" query="/nsxml0:getToken/nsxml0:username"/>
                   </copy>
                   <copy>
                        <from variable="input" part="payload" query="/nsxml0:InvokeTestRequest/nsxml0:password"></from>
                        <to variable="IsaInput" part="parameters" query="/nsxml0:getToken/nsxml0:password"/>
                   </copy>
              </assign>
              <invoke name="invoke-1" partnerLink="Authentication" portType="nsxml0:IAuthentication" operation="getToken" inputVariable="IsaInput" outputVariable="IsaOutput"/>
              <assign name="assign-2">
                   <copy>
                        <from variable="IsaOutput" part="parameters" query="/nsxml0:getTokenResponse/nsxml0:Result"></from>
                        <to variable="output" part="payload" query="/nsxml0:InvokeTestResponse/nsxml0:token"/>
                   </copy>
              </assign>
              <reply name="reply-2" partnerLink="client" portType="tns:InvokeTest" operation="initiate" variable="output"/>     </sequence>
    I really appreciate your patience and help.

  • Call to BPEL Process from JSP - Not working!

    Hi All,
    I'm trying to execute the sample JSP page provided in the BPEL Guide, which calls the BPEL "CreditRatingService" service.
    The JSP Page compiled normally, but it does not invoke the BPEL Process. The JSP Page is just waiting.. the browser is loading the page for ever..which means it is not able to call the BPEL process. If i comment the below code
    NormalizedMessage res = deliveryService.request("CreditRatingService", "process", nm);
    then the page is displaying..
    Thanks for any help
    Regards
    Chandra

    Hi Afonso,
    I looked at the files under the below locations..
    C:\product\10.1.3.1\OracleAS_1\j2ee\home\log\home_default_group_1
    C:\product\10.1.3.1\OracleAS_1\bpel\system\logs
    C:\product\10.1.3.1\OracleAS_1\bpel\domains\default\logs
    I found the below error mesage
    <ERROR> <collaxa> <ProcessJob::execute> Timed out reading http:.........
    from C:\product\10.1.3.1\OracleAS_1\bpel\system\logs\orabpel.txt log file.
    But this log file is generated when I start my SOA Suite and not when I open the JSP Page. But I'm guessing may be for the same reason, it the not calling the BPEL process.
    I don't have any issues while I deploy the BPEL process or calling the BPEL Process from the console.
    Thanks for any help

  • Error while strting a process from jsp on a JBoss JBpm server

    Thanks for help.

    Sorry, no idea what the problem is.
    I suggest creating a servlet and moving all your business logic there. Test it and verify it works. Then put its result in request scope via request.setAttribute(),
    then in the JSP page, get the value via request.getAttribute(). This is in following with not having any business logic in the JSP page (separation of concerns).
    It also makes it far easier to debug and set breakpoints (can be done in servlet, not in JSP).

  • BPM start process from WD UI

    Hi all,
    I am quite new with BPM in the SAP environment and for the moment I am strugling with the start of a process using an WD UI.
    What i have is a simple process with two activities. The process starts with no problems from the respository and also I created a wdsl and managed to start the process from the wsnavigator.
    Now I want to start the process from a simple UI. For that I created a WD component, assigned it to an app and connected to a model. Next I edited my portal to have a new folder with a page that contains my app.
    The UI has to fields and a button. My goal is to use that button to start my process.
    Probably I am doing something wrong when creating the action and maybe someone can help me with the java part on the actual button action.
    Please help. Thank you.
    Regards,
    Stefy

    I've made a lot of research and of course found a lot of forums and help. But for the moment I had some issues with addapting them completely to my situation, since I have to prior experience with this.
    For example I think this is the best solution that I have found so far: /people/arafat.farooqui/blog/2010/06/23/introduction-to-sap-netweaver-bpm-part-6
    but at the following step:
    / Bind the object
    wdContext.nodeRequest_Name().bind(objRequest);
    I can't figure out what is the nodeRequest_Name()...
    couldn't find this "asset" in my WDContext.

  • Problem in invoking BPEL process from jsp

    Dear Experts,
    I am trying to invoke BPEL process from simple JSP form, with guide lines of http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B31017_01/integrate.1013/b28981/invoke.htm. But I'm receiving the following error
    Error: JSP files must reside in the server root directory or a subdirectory beneath it
    Note: I having my JSP page inside my project folder-->output_html--> myfile.jsp
    Thanks,

    Hi Rajesh,
    Please refer \bpel\samples\tutorials\102.InvokingProcesses\jsp.

  • Start process from Portal

    Hi everyone!
    I need to implement process start as a link in portal. I've created and tested WSDL in NWDS. I also assigned start event for the process. So it works and starts fine from the WS navigator. Now I need to make it available in portal. I have no experience in Portal. So i found some guidelines regarding VC and WebDynpro. But I need an advise about that. I wanna know what is the best practice to implement that. I mean how is it usually done? Because the task seems pretty typical. NWDS and CE are 7.2 SP06 both.
    Thanks in advance,
    Peter

    Well, it depends on the requirement.
    If you just want to start a process and no shiny (tree control, file upload etc...) UI manipulation, you can use VC. Its very easy to develop. Also VC covers vast number of UI element, though not all provided by WD. But, if there is any complex business logic invovled , with heavy data manipulation, WD stands good.
    However, for most of the cases, UI provided by VC suffice all requirements. If the purpose is just to provide basic, simple UI for submitting info and starting BPM, VC fits best.

Can any one help or send some link where i can download few sample application or Tell me the way to do this????

    The payload of the XML is described in the WSDL of the webservice. In general this is described in a XML schema (xsd). When you user selects a web service, you could read the WSDL of the webserice an determine the payload of this service, or you program this in you java code for each service.
