Starting a server from the prompt?
Hi all
I am running an eviroment with 2 pc, and three bea clusters. This means i have 6 virtual bea nodes, 3 on each machine.
Is it possible to start one node at a time from a windows prompt? I need to make full thread dumps from java, i don't know how to make a new domain, which is why this would be a good solution. (if i can be done)
I am running weblogic 7 sp2
please help
Sincerly
Casper
yes, go into the domain folder and use the startmanagedserver script to start each node.

Edited by: [email protected] on Feb 10, 2009 5:16 AMLooking at your error message a little closer, I don't believe it has anything to do with port conflicts but rather that even though you are executing the startManagedWeblogic.cmd with your managed server name (MS1), the error indicates that it is trying to start the Admin Server (not MS1). Note in your error message the following: Unable to obtain lock on C:\bea\user_pr
ojects\domains\PB530Domain\servers\AdminServer\tmp\AdminServer.lok. Server may a
lready be running
It is saying that it cannot start the Admin Server because it is already running (which is probably true in your case). Have you made any changes to the startManagedWeblogic.cmd or the startWeblogic.cmd scripts? I would start debugging there and try to figure out why the script is trying to start your admin server instead of MS1 as you requested on the cmd line. -

5).Hi,
I agree with Erland. You need to verify and specify the correct path for the error log in Startup parameters.
For example: -eC:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.n\MSSQL\LOG\ERRORLOG
To configure startup options
1.In SQL Server Configuration Manager, click SQL Server Services.
2.In the right pane, right-click SQL Server (<instance_name>), and then click Properties.
3.On the Startup Parameters tab, in the Specify a startup parameter box, type the parameter, and then click Add.
For example, to start in single-user mode, type -m in the Specify a startup parameter box and then click Add. (When you restart SQL Server in single-user mode, stop the SQL Server Agent. Otherwise, SQL Server Agent might connect first and prevent you from
connecting as a second user.)
4. Click OK.
5.Restart the Database Engine.

From the admin console ... Are you able to check the status of Node Manager ?
If yes ... please check the SSL configuration of managed servers ...
Check the domain administration port also.

Starting application server from IDE
I'm trying to start the application server from an evaluation copy of
Visual Cafe 4.5 Enterprise Edition. When I choose Project -> Start
Application Server from the menu, a window briefly opens with "Start
Application Server" as its title and a logo of a spinning W. After
the W spins about one time the window close, with no error message
reported.
I would like to know what I should do in order to start the
application server (A developer's license of WebLogic is included)
from the IDE.Look at the weblogic.log file
(%BEA_HOME%\wlserver6.0\config\mydomain\logs\weblogic.log) to see if
there are any error messages printed there. If not, it is probably a
license issue in that the license.bea file must be in the CLASSPATH used
to start the app server.

Start managed server with the node manager???
Hello,
I have one admin server and one managed server for my domain. Can i Start the amdin and managed server from the node manager and not just the admin server. Currently with the install of node manager only the admin server starts and not the managed server. I need to log in to the admin server to start my managed server which is very cumbersome.
Edited by: user9021545 on Mar 11, 2011 1:58 PMhi,
In order to start Managed server from the console itself, then u have to enroll your node manager.
Step1). Start the AdminServer...using startScript "startWebLogic.sh/cmd"
step2)start ur node manager using stat node manager scripts,
step3)Login to adminConsole and then see the NodeManager is Reachable or not
If reachanble
then run "setWLSEnv.sh/cmd".
Then run wlst.sh file
Step3)connect('weblogic','weblogic','t3://localhost:7001')
Step4)nmEnroll('C:/bea103/user_projects/domains/7001_Domain','C:/bea103/wlserver_10.3/common/nodemanager')
After this u will be able to start and stop managed server from console itself
Note:even after dis your managed server doesnt starts then please check under <DOMAIN_ROOT>\servers\<SERVER_NAME> whether you have a folder name as security and inside it whether you have file called as boot.properties
if no then follow these below steps
Please create a directory "security" inside your
<DOMAIN_ROOT>\servers\<SERVER_NAME>
inside "<DOMAIN_ROOT>\servers\<SERVER_NAME>\security" ( Example Location:
WLS103/user_projects/domains/Test_Domain/servers/AdminServer/security )
directory create a file with exactly same name as "boot.properties" and with
following 2 lines inside it:
username=weblogic
password=weblogic
NOTE: Here "weblogic" is the Administrator username & password...
if you want dont want to run Admin server from foreground then try runnin it as a background process
This link wi; b helpful for that

any further help in this den do let me know

Starting a WSAD server from the command prompt and not from the IDE UI
Hi,
is there a way to run the WSAD server from the command prompt instead of using the IDE UI . i have tried starting the server from the Directory i have installed WSAD " D:\Program Files\IBM\WebsphereStudio\runtimes\base_v5\bin>startServer.bat" but it gives the Following error " The system cannot find the path specified." i am working . do i have to specify the workspace that i am currently working onto see if the network adapter has registered with OPMN run: opmnctl status
the 6200 message is a timeout which can be set in opmn.xml, the reports server(s) and other processes managed by OPMN should still stop.
Try opmnctl stopall or opmnctl shutdown
Does the timeout shows up regularly ie can you repeat it?
After the stopall or shutdown try to start everything up again and try to stop the single reports server process again. -

Is it possible to start a remote server from the IDE?
I would want to know if it is possible to start a domain that makes reference to a remote server (from the IDE). On this way I could start and stop the server without loading so much the machine that I use to develop my portal applications. If it is possible how I can do it?
There is no personal Information on a crash Report unless you put something personally identifiable in the comment field. For example, here is a crash report I had on my machine awhile back: https://crash-stats.mozilla.com/report/index/bp-1de8924f-7068-4702-a410-89c492121220.
You can go to about:crashes in your address bar, and click on the report to view the info there to satisfy yourself that there is nothing in the report. But submitting crash reports is very useful because it gives us the ability to view what crashes are plaguing our users and what we need to fix. -
Start managed server from console?
If I try to start a new weblogic 10.3 managed server from the console then i get this error:
"The server myserver does not have a machine associated with it.
All of the servers selected are currently in a state which is incompatible with this operation or are not associated with a running Node Manager or you are not authorized to perform the action requested. No action will be performed."
Starting the same managed server from the dos prompt "bin/startManagedServer.bat myserver" works, so why is the weblogic console not working?Hi,
To start any managed servers from Admin Console you need to have a Machine associated with that Managed server and have to start nodemanager, then only you can start a managed server from console.
Following are the steps:
1) Create a Managed Server (MS-1)
2) Create a Machines (MachineA)
3) In the above created MachineA add the MS-1 which can be done from the below console path
Console Path:
Machines --> MachineA --> Configuration [Tab] --> Servers [Sub-Tab]
4) Now start nodemanager using the startNodeManager.sh script which can be found in the below path
Path:
wlserver_10.3/server/bin/
5) Now you can try to start your MS-1 using the Admin Console.
Note: If you still cannot start the your managed servers then would suggest you to have a look at the below post

My nodemanager is started and reachable. The error above says "Address already in use" but I am able to start my managed server through startManagedWebLogic.cmd command.
Can anyone please tell me what could be the issue. It is really urgent. Please help!!Hi Roshni,
It is likely that a configuration is missing or not set properly in the Node Manager properties file (nodemanager.properties) since the managed server can be started up using startManagedWebLogic.cmd but not with Node Manager. I would complete the following steps to fix the problem:
1. Go to %WLS_HOME%\common\nodemanager and open up nodemanager.properties (Make a backup of the file first). NOTE: WLS_HOME is your WebLogic Server home.
2. Look for the parameters "StartScriptEnabled" and "StopScriptEnabled". They should be set to true. If not, please set them to true.
3. Save and close the file.
4. Restart the Node Manager
If you are still unable to start the manager server using Node Manager, you may need to update the DEBUG_PORT parameter in setDomainEnv.cmd located in %MIDDLEWARE_HOME%\user_projects\domains\%DOMAIN_HOME%\bin (always make a backup before changing a configuration file). You may refer to Oracle Support note 1272642.1 for more information about the nodemanager.properties file and how to configure the DEBUG_PORT parameter in setDomainEnv.cmd if needed.

DS XI3.2 SP1 - Problem when starting RFC server from management console
Hi,
We're using DataServices XI 3.2 SP1 FP1 on a windows 2008 server 64bits to load SAP BW. We have set up an external system in SAP BW called "DI_SOURCE" and then successfully created a RFC server interface (DI_SOURCE) within the management console.
When we try to start this RFC server from the management console, we immediately get the following error message : "An internal error occurred in: server.start()::rfc_bad_connection".
On the other hand, when we follow the "old method" (pre SP2) and start the RFC server from a command window, it works : we have "CONNECTION DI_SOURCE OK" in SAP BW.
Any ideas how to solve this ?
Thanks,
OlivierHi,
We have tried your suggestions above.
Instead of just crashing we now get an error from designer (before closing down). Seems as if our librfc32.dll has a problem.
We have verified that the librfc32.dll from the Data Services package is the only one on the server.

Try running netstat to see whether another process is actually running at
the given address/port.
Also check using ifconfig/ipconfig or directly checking /etc/hosts file of
the box to see whether the ips addreses are correct.

Try running the manageed server directly (as sort of admin) by not passing
the admin server url and bringing it just like an admin server.
See if this works. If it works, then soemthing wrong in the way the admin
server is receiving the request/security credentials from managed server.
Also make sure both managed and admin servers are on the same patch/service
pack level.

I used startmanagedweblogic managedserver1 http://fkeita:7001 to try to start managed
server, but it did not work, and got error messages. Error messages are posted
