Starting Workflow without a Task ID

Hi All,
Is there a way to start a workflow without having a Task ID? Is there an alternate way? Is there a BAPI/FM or an SAP Transaction to accomplish this?
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Hi developer,
I am not sure whether I have understood your requirement, but if your workflow is event driven, that is has a Start Event, then you can trigger/start the workflow by manually triggering the event by calling the function module SWE_EVENT_CREATE.
You can also start workflows from transaction SWUI,

  • Automatic start workflow for ALL records

    Hi Experts,
    Does anyone know a way to start workflow automatically for ALL records without human interference?
    I want to start workflows every day. For instance to recalculate, re-validate, re-assign or syndicate ALL records of a table.
    Kind regards,
    Job Jansen

    Hello Job Jansen
    I suppose recalculate and validate all recodrs once a day don't make sense when that records is the same
    and records wasn't changing
    However, you can use Autolaunch = Threshold with Max Time = 24 hour(for example)
    workflow will fire when Max Time say greater then time last launched job.
    And few another ways:
    1) you can use task sheduler for launch import manager and turn autolaunch workflow when it do import
    2) turn automatic import process(MDIS) once a day and use workflow for add records
    3) developed Java application which used MDM JAVA API for start workflow

  • Generic object services (GOS) - Start workflow box is allways empty

    Dear colleagues,
    i have installed a brand new IDES ERP 6.0 successfully but when entering a number of standard transactions like mm02, va03, fb03 etc and trying to execute the GOS toolbox, I can never start any workflow. I click on the 'start workflow' button of the GOS-toolboy but the selection box is allways empty. Did I miss anything? Since there are so many BOR objects that apply to the objects of the standard transactions, there should be at least something to start. For example BOR BUS1001 (material master): When in MM02, why does the GOS-toolbox for workflows not show the related workflows that use BUS1001?
    Thank you very much for your answers
    Best regards
    Daniel

    Udo,
    You should start a new discussion - you'll get more responses.
    Anyhoo, to make a workflow appear in the GOS 'start workflow' list, just follow these simple rules:
    - confirm which BOR object is involved in your transaction (eg BUS1001006 for MM03)
    - make sure that the BOR object is a mandatory input of your workflow
    - make sure that there are no other mandatory inputs
    - make sure that the workflow (WS*) is set to 'General Task' (nb this is client dependent)
    Once all these things are done, refresh the buffer (SWU_OBUF) and it should work.
    cheers
    Paul

  • Starting Workflow from Generic Object Services

    Hi All.
    We are on ECC6. In transaction MM02 when I excute 'Start Workflow' from Generic Object Services, no workflows are found. Can anyone help me with the following issues;
    1. What is the underlying object in transaction MM02 (I believe it is BUS1001006)
    2. How can i ensure that the proper workflows in this transcation are started through some
        customisation, enhencement or user-exit.
    Regards.

    I think you have to maintain the Workflow Template as General Task and then only it will appear in the GOS.
    Thanks

    Hi,
    Your workflow landed up in Error and you want to Restart it right.
    Go to SWPR and check that workflow is there.
    If found, select it and Restart it.

  • Starting workflow from messages

    Hi,
    I am trying out the possibility of starting workflows when a message is raised (Error/Warning). Once i create the message to workflow linkage i am able to start the workflow from the message long text.
    In this scenario is there a way to start the workflow automatically whenever that particular error message occurs?
    For example consider transaction PA30. Now if i try to enter a character value in place of personnel number i get an error message "Enter a Numeric Value". Now once i link the workflow to the message i am able to start the workflow manually. But can this be done automatically on the occurence of this message?
    Thanks,
    Prasath N

    Hi Karun,
    Thanks for your response. I have done this already and it is workfing fine when i start the workflow manually. I would like to know if there is an option to start the workflow <b>automatically (without pressing the workflow button)</b> when the message is raised.
    Thanks,
    Prasath N

  • Starting Workflow from VA02/03 Problem

    Hi,
    I have a problem, I want to start the workflow in VA03 Transaction, from menu "Service Object"==>" Workflow"==>"Start Workflow", but I can't see the workflow I want to start, the window is empty, this does not happen in our Quality an Production System, I can see it there in VA03 and in SWUI transaction, but in our Development System is not possible to see it, is there any configuration missing or some tasks thet need to be performed to see the workflow to start it manually from VA02 & VA03 Transactions??.
    Best Regards,
    Moisés.

    Hi Moisés,
    If you want a workflow to be triggered via GOS then it must be in the Start Workflow list in transaction SWUI and in order for it to be in the list it must not have an mandatory import elements and you must also be a possible agent (Set the agent assignment of the workflow template to General). Can you make sure the above 2 conditions are met and then test.

    Eddie

  • Error when starting an analog read task with DAQmx 8.5 while 8.0 works

    I am programing a measurement application with Borland C++ Builder 6.
    Problem: Every time when I try to start an analog input task with the DAQmxStartTask() command of DAQmx 8.5 the program execution is interrupted and the error message "Invalid floating point operation" is given out. This problem does not occur with DAQmx 8.0 !

    Hello Johannes,
    the error occurs every time, when I try to start an analog voltage input task either with a simulated or a real device (PXI-4472). Changing any of the measurement parameters did not have any effect. I also tried one of the C-source code examples, which came with the original NI-documentation of the DAQmx 8.5 driver, resulting also in the same error.
    However, starting a counter task with a simulated PXI-6601 device worked without any problems !
    Do you have any ideas ?

    Hi
    Workflow automates the steps and activities in a business process according to predefined procedures and rules.
    Workflow presents information and documents to the appropriate knowledge worker or agent (another entity such as a program) to make a decision or perform an activity.
    Workflow tracks each and every step in the process flow and maintains an ongoing status.
    Workflow also collects and reports all of the metrics associated with the execution and completion of the process.

  • Workflow - Assign serial tasks

    Hi,
    Perhaps I'm overthinking this or I just have got my brain in a knot, but I'm so confused.  What I want to do using Designer is set up a workflow that does this (at its most basic):
    InfoPath form is submitted
    1) Send a task to person A (listed on the form)
    2) When A is done, send a different task to B
    3) When B is done, send a different task to C
    (Etc.)  There are 6 individual tasks that make up this "project".  There maybe a document created, maybe not.
    I want to get a little fancier in that there are due dates and would need to set reminders but I'm struggling with task vs approval.  I created a task list and have the form adding a task to the list, but this isn't really getting me where I need to
    go with tracking what's done.
    Anything else that can get my head in the right place would be appreciated.

    Hi,
    According to your description, my understanding is that when a InfoPath form is submitted, you want to send tasks to A,B,C,D,E,F with serial (one at a time).
    For your issue, you can create a SharePoint Designer workflow with "start workflow automatically when an item is created". Then you can set approval task with Participants: A;B;C;D;E;F , Serial (one at a time). Also you can set Due Date for Task
    Process.

    Hello Experts,
    I am trying to activate a workflow on document event change, and i am getting this error in the event trace: Workflow definition of task 'WS90123456' cannot be activated
    In the receiver data i have:
    receiver type : ws90123456
    object key:
    receiver fm: SWW_WI_CREATE_VIA_EVENT_IBF
    rfc destination:
    check fm
    receiver type fm:
    message: Workflow definition of task 'WS90123456' cannot be activated
    any ideas as to why this is happening ?
    The workflow has no errors and it is being generated correctly with no warnings and no errors

    Hi
    Go to SWDD and activate the workflow template.  Then go to SWU_OBUF and refresh the buffers, and then refresh the org environment using the option in SWUD-->Problem:Workflow Does not start menu path.  Test your event again
    If still no joy goto SWUD go to Test Environment and select simulate event taking note of the messages code displayed.

  • "starting workflow" window remains open

    Hi,
    I create a very simple workflow in sqldeveloper4 for clustering a data source with O_Cluster algorithm. when I run it, "starting workflow" window appears and remains for a long time. I will force to close sqldeveloper from Task Manager to get rid it!
    do u have any suggestion?

    HI
    you need to have the workflow jobs tab open.
    to do this first go click on the Tools(I think) then Oracle Data Mining and then click on Make Visible. Then open the workflow jobs tab.
    then run your workflow and it should work
    (sorry I don't have the tool open in front of me so hopefully you can find these options from the menu)

  • Starting workflow with HTTP-Post

    Hello,
    like I wrote in Starting workflow with HTTP-Post I have a problem with starting a workflow with a http-post:
    I have an installation of SAP ERP 2005 SR2 IDES on Win2003 SR2 SP2 and want to start a simple workflow with an external application. Therefor I created an elementary test-workflow and set the general task flag so everybody is allowed to start it. So far everything work fine as I start it manually.
    Now I want to start the workflow by an external application over a HTTP-Post as described in
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_47x200/helpdata/EN/54/de9e3887d6174fe10000009b38f842/content.htm
    I configured the webserver (Customizing Web-Server) as follows:
    Service: WebFlow (Intranet)
    Address: http://192.168.0.216:8000/
    Path: SAP/BC/WORKFLOW_XML/?
    and sent a post via perl to http://192.168.0.216:8000/SAP/BC/WORKFLOW_XML/?protocol=01&localkey=WS99900004
    <?xml version="1.0" ?>
    <WfMessage Version="1.0" xmlns="http://www.wfmc.org/standards/doc/WF-XML">
    <WfMessageHeader>
    <Request ResponseRequired="No">
    <Key>http://192.168.0.216:8000/SAP/BC/WORKFLOW_XML/?protocol=01&localkey=WS99900004</Key>
    </WfMessageHeader>
    <WfMessageBody>
    <CreateProcessInstance.Request StartImmediately="true">
    <ObserverKey>http://192.168.0.224</ObserverKey>
    </CreateProcessInstance.Request>
    </WfMessageBody>
    </WfMessage>
    The Web-Server returns
    C:\FH\SAP\perl-scripte>perl http-post.pl
    HTTP/1.1 200 OK
    Server: SAP Web Application Server (1.0;700)
    Content-Length: 0
    Content-Type: text/plain
    Client-Date: Sun, 01 Jun 2008 11:00:24 GMT
    Client-Peer: 192.168.0.216:8000
    Client-Response-Num: 1
    but it seems that nothing happens.
    I also tried to post the XML via html-form-field with the same result.
    Did I forgot something essential?

    Hello Daniel
    It's 6 years after you posted your question, but I found your post very useful and thought it would be worth updating for future reference.
    I've just managed to trigger a workflow via http.
    URL :
    http://server.domain:8000/sap/bc/workflow_xml?sap-client=110
    Java :
    URL obj = new URL(url);
    URLConnection con = (URLConnection) obj.openConnection();
    String userpass = "username:password";
    String basicAuth = "Basic " + javax.xml.bind.DatatypeConverter.printBase64Binary(userpass.getBytes());
    con.setRequestProperty ("Authorization", basicAuth);
    con.setRequestProperty("Content-type", "text/xml");
    con.setDoOutput(true);
    DataOutputStream wr = new DataOutputStream(con.getOutputStream());
    wr.write( xml.getBytes("UTF-8") );
    wr.flush();
    wr.close();
    You can then read the response.
    I found that until I added the sap_client parameter I couldn't debug in CL_HTTP_WORKFLOW_XML->IF_HTTP_EXTENSION~HANDLE_REQUEST. Then I found that the content type has to be "text/xml".
    I set the xml variable (the data sent to ECC) to :
    <?xml version="1.0" ?>
    <WfMessage Version="SAP.1.0" xmlns="http://www.wfmc.org/standards/doc/WF-XML">
    <WfMessageHeader>
    <Request>
    <ResponseRequired>Yes</ResponseRequired>
    </Request>
    <Key>HTTP://server.domain:8000/SAP/BC/WORKFLOW_XML/?~localkey=WS90000074</Key>
    <Operation>CreateProcessInstance</Operation>
    </WfMessageHeader>
    <WfMessageBody>
    <CreateProcessInstance>
    <Key>HTTP://server.domain:8000/SAP/BC/WORKFLOW_XML/?~localkey=WS90000074</Key>
    <ContextData>
    <YOUR_CONTEXT_VARIABLE>x</YOUR_CONTEXT_VARIABLE>
    </ContextData>
    <StartImmediately>Yes</StartImmediately>
    </CreateProcessInstance>
    </WfMessageBody>
    </WfMessage>
    regards
    Steve

  • Does deleting Workflow also Delete Task List Items

    I have Sharepoint 2010 and I am using the standard workflow.
    I have created a new workflow and want to delete the previous workflow to avoid use.
    If I remove the previous workflow, what happens to the items in the Task List associated with the workflow?  Do they remain undisturbed or are they also deleted.

    Hi,
    According to your post, my understanding is that you wanted to know the action of the items in the Task List associated with the deleted workflow.
    In my environment, I create a task workflow using SharePoint Designer and then start the workflow in two items. No matter whether I approve the tasks or not,
    If I delete the workflow through UI: Click the Ribbon->List->Workflow Settings->Remove a workflow, the two tasks will be disappeared in the task list. However, the workflow will be remian in the SharePoint Designer.
    If I republish the workflow in the SharePoint Designer, the workflow will be associated to the list again.
    If I delete the workflow through the SharePoint Designer, the two tasks will be also disappeared in the task list. And the workflow will be removed in the Workflow Settings.
    Thank you for your understanding.
    Best Regards,
