Sticky sessions across multiple content rules

Hi,
If a client PC initiates two requests which match different content rules on a CSS (first request http port 80 to CSS VIP downloads a small application. This application then sends a second request to the VIP, on tcp port 8085) can sticky rules be configured on the CSS content rules, so that they hit the same destination server, given that both content rules contain the same services, and hence be considered part of the same session?
Thanks

there is no sitcky accros content rules option on the CSS.
But there are solutions to this problem.
First, are you doing anything special with your HTTP content rule ? Like cookies or url inspection ?
If not, you can group the 2 content rules into a single one. You will have 1 Layer3 rule instead of 2 Layer 4 rules.
If you have L5-7 rules [http inspection], the previous solution is not possible.
You will need to maintain 2 rules.
You could then use a 'balance srcip' balancing method on both rules.
This algorithm is deterministic.
The same client will always go to the same server.
Hope this helps.
Regards,
Gilles.

  • Share http session across multiple EARs

I am curious to know the following:-
--> is it possible to share http session across multiple EARs running on same Weblogic application server.
    i.e weblogic server/Jboss
--> is it possible to share http session across multiple EARs running on different Weblogic application server.
    i.e weblogic server/Jboss
Please share the steps/way to acheive the same.

What are you trying to achieve / accomplish by splitting it up?
e.g. Clean Build in workshop will be faster for multiple EAR's , but unless you have all your application level libraries as shared libraries you might increase your runtime footprint. or you might want independent deploy/redeploy for your apps etc.
If however you need the session to be shared , that these aren't really independent web-applications and shouldn't be separate ear's. In most cases though you dont actually need the session as shared (e.g. a user's data is fetched from the database , you dont really need the session shared, you need a single shared sign on). So when you say is the session shared, what is the data that you need shared? should it be in the session in the first place?
And finally are these webapp's really independent (functionally ) or not?

  • MAintain session across multiple DB Adapters.

    Hi,
I am using a BPEL process which has multiple DB Adapters.
As far as I understand each DB Adapter call from BPEL is a different session.
Is there any way to maintain a same session across multiple DB Adapter calls i.e to make multiple DB calls in the same session?
    thanks,

    Yes this is supported.
You'll have to take a look at the support for XA (distributed transactions).
See this thread for some good links to other info.

  • How to share a session across multiple jws?

    Hi!
    I have this problem.
I'm looking for a way to have shared sessions, available across multiple JWS with WLW 8.1
I try to get a session with this code:
    WebServiceContext wsContext = WebServiceContext.currentContext(); WebServiceSession session = (WebServiceSession)wsContext.getSession();
    but it throws COntextNotFoundException....
I added the session descriptor in weblogic.xml to set the param CookiesEnabled to true, because I read that using this code works but requires that the client support cookies to keep the HttpSession object around.
    But it's not works!
How can I get to HTTP session from a JWS?
And....it's possible to share a session accross multiple JWS?
    Thanks a lot!

  • Maintaining session across multiple browser windows and page refreshes

    Hi there,
We're currently developing a Flex application with a couple of session-related requirements that we're not sure how to solve. Before we jump in and maybe go about things in the wrong way, I thought I'd post and see if anyone here knows of some elegant solutions!
Currently, when our Flex app starts the user is presented with a log-in screen which authenticates the user against our server. Client-server communication is done through BlazeDS.
Our first requirement is the ability to open a new browser window from Actionscript - this window will load a pdf document. The servlet that serves this pdf should deny the request if the user is not already logged in. The only way we can see to do this so far is to open the pdf url using navigateToUrl() with the '_blank' target, passing a jsessionid token as a url parameter. Is there a better way to preserve session state when opening a new window?
The second requirement is to preserve some application and session across browser refreshes. Our Flex app has several screens that the user can tab between. If the user hits F5 or the refresh button in their browser, we'd like the app to return to the same screen after the refresh. I've been looking into using BrowserManager to add a fragment such as #screen=2 to the url, but of course we only want the app to display screen 2 if the user has already authenticated with the server. Is there a way to reuse the user's existing session credentials after a page refresh?
Many thanks in advance for any advice anyone can offer on this. It could very well be that we're missing something about how BlazeDS uses / exposes session credentials that would make all of this easier to implement than we currently realise!

We use javascript to pass values between a 'data look up' window and the originating Servlet. If this is of any use, I can send you some examples.

  • Maintaining session across multiple browsers

    Hello All,
We have an application that runs using Apache Struts. One of the requirements is to pop-up a "data look up" window, i.e. a new browser window. The problem is, when I start this window any communication between this new window and server happens on a brand new session. I would like to maintain the same session as the parent window. Any ideas?

  • Searching Multiple Content Types

What is the best way to do an attribute search across multiple content types that may or may not have the same attributes? I've subclassed the document type to create an image type like they have in the examples. I would like to do a search across the name attribute of the document and the height attribute of the image. The results I get is the cartesian product of the two classes which is not very useful. Is there a way to do this?

    Hi,
According to your description, my understanding is that it displayed only the first eleven content types after you set up multiple content type in your libraries.
I have created lots of content types and added them to library and it worked fine.
Please check the configuration of the content type order in library settings -> Change new button order and default content type, and provide the screen shot about is.
Please add multiple content types you created to other libraries and other libraries in other site collections and test whether this issue occurs.

  • Session state variables across multiple ApEx applications

We have a suite of loosely integrate ApEx applications that all share a common authentication scheme. When you first log in we attempt to load a series of session state variables with temporary data to streamline various logging and authentication related activities for the life of the session.
However, these session variables seem to disappear when you move from one application to another, so they are not truly tied to just the "session" which carries over across all applications, but the application from which the session state is set.
What is the suggested way, keeping in mind that the data being held may have security related context, to preserve values during a session, but regardless of which ApEx application you are in.
The method we are using to share the authentication is using a common "Cookie Name" from a common subscribed authentication scheme as suggested elsewhere on this site and seems to work very well outside of this specific issue.
    Thanks in advance,
    Barney

Apologies for the delay getting back on this.
My use of the word "disappear" was probably misleading. They were not visible from the second application. When setting "Session State" I was under the impression that it was setting it for the authenticated session, not for the specific application. (I am referring to the: apex_util.set/get_session_state).
Your solution will work fine, as long as I know which application the user last authenticated against. However, it could be one of over 30 (and growing) different applications which would require me writing a program to go through every "p_flow" to try and find a valid value every time I need to reference the field.
It would be really beneficial if you could store true Session variables which stay alive for the life of the authenticated session and is available to anything authenticated against that session id. This would streamline alot of cross-application program development.
The "get/set_session_state" is a misleading as it is not a Session value, but an Application value. The Session exists across multiple applications, while this procedure does not.
    Thanks,
    Barney

  • Stickyness across multiple VIPs

I was wondering if anyone knows if it is possible to implement stickyness across multiple VIPs. In other words, if a client hits a specific VIP on a specific TCP port, then hits a different VIP on a different tcp port, can stickyness be configured to stick that client to the same server?
    Thanks!

    Hi,
u talk about stickineess on the CSM? it's possible :), but be careful...
    example:
    vserver1: vip1:port1
    rserver1: rserver_ip1:portX
    vserver2: vip2:port2
    rserver2: rserver_ip1:portY
and one sticky group for both server farms (one for rserver1, second for rserver2).
first session is established to vserver1:
    - sticky is recorded to rserver1 (rserver_ip1:portX)
second session is established to vserver2:
    - sticky exists (client matched the sticky rule)
    - session is not load-balanced, but connected to rserver by sticky record (!), in other words, session is directed to rserver_ip1:portX and no to :portY
^^^ answer to your question: it's possible :), but be careful... in other words, it's possible if the service on the server side is running on the same real server and port (portX=portY). other, use different sticky group for second server farm.
is it answer to your question?

  • Joining multiple tables across multiple data sources in MYSQL throws error

    Hi all,
I have to join tables across multiples MYSQL databases
    eg :
    Table T1,T2 from DB1
    Table T3 from DB2
Columns from T3 are aggregated ( dimensional column ).
Hence when i query using oracle answers ( say i have columns from T1,T2 and T3 ) , OBIEE tries to a query DB1 by having NULL for columns in T3
It uses cast(NULL as INTEGER ) for columns from T3 . But MYSQL throws an error because "cast(NULL as INTEGER )" is not supported by MYSQL.
I tried executing the query generated by OBIEE manually , if i try giving cast(NULL as SIGNED INTEGER ) , it works.
    pasting the query for reference
    select distinct D1.c2 as c1,
    D1.c1 as c2,
    cast(NULL as INTEGER ) as c3
    from
    (select distinct T87.title_id as c1,
    T59.asin as c2
    from
    print_book_catalog T59 left outer join
    title_authority T87 On T59.asin = T87.asin
    where ( T59.asin = '0345378911' )
    ) D1
I am not able to find any config file to set this property ( and use signed integer instead of integer ) . Even DBFeatures.INI does not have relevant information.
Can someobody please help me solve this problem.

    Stijn,
Thank you for the article link. That was very helpful! It seems that I had a few things off as you do need the "This source should be combined with other sources at this level." checked. In my two table source columns for DATA_SOURCE I defined a literal ('086496' and '085597' for the other) in the Column Mapping tab. I pasted the following in the Fragmentation content, checking the "This source..." box on the Content tab:
    eSIS.SANDBOX4_SCHOOLS.DATA_SOURCE = '086496'
And pasted the following into the WHERE clause, checking "Select distinct values" on the Content tab:
    sandbox4."".OBIEE.NWOCA_SCHOOLS.SCHOOL_CODE = VALUEOF(NQ_SESSION."SCHOOL") AND sandbox4."".OBIEE.NWOCA_SCHOOLS.DATA_SOURCE = VALUEOF(NQ_SESSION."GROUP")
This took care of my user's security, utilizing the session variables in the WHERE clause. I am now able to generate reports that only one user can access from one data source and share that same report with another user who can only see data from the other data source.
    Many thanks!!!

  • CSS without SSL Module needing sticky sessions

    Hello All,
If anyone can help with this sticky situation I'd appreciate it.
I have a customer with a CSS11501. He does not have an SSL module installed.
He has 2 blade servers, when he adds a web site, which is accessible over SSL, the CSS load balances client requests causing lost sessions, mostly lost pop-ups, it does not want stick to the same server.
    I've configured the following:-
    service web1
    protocol tcp
    port 443
    keepalive type tcp
    ip address 192.168.200.50
    string web1
    active
    service web2
    rotocol tcp
    port 443
    eepalive type tcp
    ip address 192.168.200.51
    string web2
    active
    content SSL_Web
    add service web1
    add service web2
    rotocol tcp
    port 443
    vip address 1.2.3.4
    application ssl
    advanced-balance sticky-srcip-dstport
    active
    group web_Farm
      add service web1
      add service web2
      vip address 1.2.3.4
      active
I was attempting to get the client to stick to the server but unfortunately, this didn't work, the CSS seems to continue to send requests to both servers and they are getting scripting errors.
Once the customer turns off the second blade, all is ok.
I did try adding the string value to the service and configuring 'advanced-balance arrowpoint-cookie' in the content but the clients were unable to reach any web sites.
    Best Regards Tony

    Tony,
The config looks fine other than the "application SSL" under the content rule, and right now you are probing the servers with a tcp probe on port 80. If you want the probe to be on port 443 you should add the command "keepalive port 443" to both of the services. The CSS will default to port 80 for a tcp probe.

  • Sharing an iTunes Library across multiple user account and a network.

Sharing an iTunes Music Library across multiple user accounts.
    Hello Everybody!
Firstly, this was designed to be run in Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger. It will not work with earlier versions of Mac OS X! Sorry.
Here's a handy tip for keeping your hard drive neat and tidy, it also saves space, what in effect will be done is an iTunes music library will be shared amongst multiple users on the same machine. There are advantages and disadvantages to using this method.
    • Firstly I think it might be worthwhile to state the advantages and disadvantages to using this approach.
    The advantages include:
    - Space will be saved, as no duplicate files will occur.
    - The administrator will be able to have complete control over the content of the iTunes library, this may be useful for restricting the content of the Library; particularly for example if computer is being used at and education institution, business or any other sort of institution where things such as explicit content would be less favorable.
    - The machine will not be slowed by the fact that every user has lots of files.
The disadvantages to this system include.
    - The fact that the account storing the music will have to be logged in, and iTunes will have to be active in that account.
    - If the account housing the music is not active then nobody can use the iTunes library.
    - There is a certain degree of risk present when an administrator account must be continually active.
    - Fast User Switching must be enabled.
    Overview:
A central account controls all music on the machine/network, this is achieved by storing iTunes files in a public location as opposed to in the user's directory. In effect the system will give all users across the machine/network access to the same music/files without the possibility of files 'doubling up' because two different users like the same types of music. This approach saves valuable disk space in this regard and may therefore prove to be useful in some situations.
This is a hearty process to undertake, so only follow this tutorial if you're willing to go all the way to the end of it.
    Process:
    Step 1:
Firstly, we need to organize the host library, I tidied mine up, removing excess playlists, random files, things like that. this will make thing a bit easier in the later stages of this process.
Once the library is tidied up, move the entire "iTunes" folder from your Home directory to the "//localhost" directory (The Macintosh HD) and ensure that files are on the same level as the "Applications", "Users", "Library" and "System" directories; this will ensure that the files in the library are available to all users on the machine (this also works for networks)
Optionally you can set the ownership of the folder to the 'administrator' account (the user who will be hosting the library.), you may also like to set the permissions of 'you can' to "Read & Write" (assuming that you are doing this through the user who will host the library); secondly you should set the "Owner" to the administrator who will be hosting the library and set their "access" to "Read & Write" (this will ensure that the administrator has full access to the folder). The final part of this step involves setting access for the "Others" tab to "Read Only" this will ensure that the other users can view but not modify the contents on the folder.
    Overview:
So far we have done the following steps:
    1. Organized the host library.
    2. Placed the iTunes directory into a 'public' directory so that other users may use it. (this step is essential if you plan on sharing the library across multiple accounts on the same machine. NOTE: this step is only necessary if you are wanting to share you library across multiple accounts on the same machine, if you simply want to share the music across a network, use the iTunes sharing facility.
    3. set ownership and permissions for the iTunes music folder.
    Step 2:
Currently the administrator is the only user who can use this library, however we will address this soon. In this step we will enable iTunes music sharing in the administrator's account, this will enable other users to access the files in the library.
If you are not logged in as the administrator, do so; secondly, open iTunes and select "Preferences" from the "iTunes" menu, now click the "Sharing" tab, if "share my library on my local network" is not checked, the radio buttons below this will now become active, you may choose to share the entire libraries contents, or share only selected content.
Sharing only selected content may be useful if their is explicit content in the library and minors use the network or machine that the library is connected to.
If you have selected "share entire library" go to Step 3, if you have selected share "share selected playlists" read on.
After clicking "share selected playlists" you must then select the playlists that you intend to share across your accounts and network. Once you have finished selecting the playlists, click "OK" to save the settings.
    Overview:
    In this step we:
    1. Enabled iTunes sharing in the administrator's account, now, users on the local network may access the iTunes library, however, users on the same machine may not.
    Step 3:
Now we will enable users on the same machine to access the library on the machine. This is achieved by logging in as each user, opening iTunes, opening iTunes preferences, and clicking "look for shared music". now all users on the machine may also access the library that the administrator controls.
This in effect will mean that the user will not need to use their user library, it will be provided to them via a pseudo network connection.
As a secondary measure, I have chosen to write a generic login script that will move any content from the user's "Music/iTunes/iTunes Music" directory to the trash and then empties the user's trash.
This is done through the use of an Automator Application: this application does the following actions.
    1. Uses the "Finder" action "Get Specified Finder Items"
    1a. The user's "~/Music/iTunes/iTunes Music" folder
    2. Uses the "Finder" action "Get Folder Contents"
    3. Uses the "Finder" action "Move to Trash"
    4. Uses the "Automator" action "Run AppleScript"
    4a. with the following:
    on run {input, parameters}
    tell application "Finder"
    empty trash
    end tell
    return input
    end run
IMPORTANT: Once the script is adapted to the user account it must be set as a login item. in order to keep the script out of the way i have placed it in the user's "Library" directory, in "Application Support" under "iTunes".
    Overview:
    Here we:
    1. Enabled iTunes sharing in the user accounts on the host machine, in effect allowing all users of the machine to view a single iTunes library.
    2. (Optional) I have created a login application that will remove any content that has been added to user iTunes libraries, this in effect stops other users of the machine from adding music and files to iTunes.
    Step 4:
If it is not already enabled, open system preferences and enable Fast User Switching in Accounts Options.
    Summary:
We have shared a single iTunes library across multiple user account, while still allowing for network sharing. This method is designed to save space on machines, particularly those with smaller hard drives.
I hope that this hint proves to be helpful and I hope everybody will give me feedback on my process.
    regards,
    Pete.

  • APO gATP vs R/3 ATP - To check sales order ATP across multiple plants

    Hi There,
I am trying to evaluate gATP functionality for SD sales orders.
The primary requirement is to have sales order ATP checking take place across multiple plants.
    E.G.
Sales order line is entered for qty 100
60 is available in plant A, 40 is available in plant B
System checks both plants and creates 2 lines - one for delivery from plant A and one for delivery from plant B
(we are currently heading down the road of writing ABAP to do this 'multi-plant' check in R/3 but the more complex the requirements get the more interested I am in understanding more about APO/gATP)
I would like to understand the benefit of implementing APO / gATP as opposed to using standard R/3 ATP and perhaps writing custom ABAP code to search for inventory across multiple plants.
I would appreciate any insight regarding what is required to setp gATP to perform such checking and any other feedback regarding this issue - especially if you have had to implement something similar at your company.
I have looked here but not much clear help:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_scm50/helpdata/en/26/c2d63b18bc7e7fe10000000a114084/frameset.htm
    Thanks,
    Niall

    Hi Niall
you are probably looking at RBATP (Rule based ATP). Look at transaction /sapapo/rba04 in APO where you develop your own location and product substitution rules. Going down an ABAP road in R/3 may work short-term but not long-term as the requirements may get more complex.

  • Newbie question about setting up iTunes to sync across multiple computers

    Hi,
Right now I am using iTunes primarily for listening to streaming radio. However in about 2-3 weeks after I move, I am considering importing all my CDs into iTunes.
So my question is this. What can I do before I start that will make my life easier for syncing my iTunes across multiple computers.
I don't expect the computers to connect to each via internet but I do have a 4 GB flash disk and 230 GB firewire drive that could be used. And since one of the computers is MacBook Pro, I could use it in target mode I think.
    Thanks.

Authorization only applies to computers. When you update a device any protected content on the device for which the library is not authorised will be removed. Otherwise no attempt is made to remove content that was added by a now deauthorised library.
There is a separate scheme permitting up to 10 devices (computers, iPhones, iPad or iPod touches) to be registered for automatic downloads of your purchases with a different mechanism for deregistering devices.
Once you have a file on your computer you can physically copy it to any other computer in the same way that you would copy any other file like a Word document, put it on a disk, email it if not too large, burn it to DVD, stick it on an external hard drive or move it over a network. You can use Get Info. To tell you where it is now and you can drop it into the library at the other end.
The user tip shows how to backup the whole library and then update that backup efficiently. Such a backup to a portable drive also provides a possible tool for transporting any content to another computer.
