I converted a pdf file to a word document but am still unable to edit the word document and save as a newly created word document. please help, thanks.

The error message you were receiving occurs when you try to convert a dynamic PDF file created with Adobe LiveCycle Designer. This file is usually already a fillable form. Unfortunately there is no workaround available for converting documents like this within the ExportPDF service.

Unable to edit WebDynpro source code after import from NWDI Track

I am facing an odd issue when trying to modify the source code in a web dynpro that is in a Track.
This is what happens:
I create the project from Inactive DCs
I double click in the component controller (for example) and try to enter a line of code
A pop ups appears saying that in order to modify the file I have to check it out and to create an activity
The window to create a new activity appears, and I create the new activity
I am informed that the file to be edited will be included in the activity
--- Until now everything is normal ---
A try again to type something inside the source code.. and NOTHING happens, is as if my keyboard was broken.
After trying 1000 things I found a workaround that is:
Open the DTR perspective in NWDS, go to inactive -- <project>.. gen_wdp , ( and in gen_wdp right click, edit --> subfolder tree).
After doing that I am able to edit the source code... this is very strange! I mean, I never had this problem before..
somebody has a hint ?

Modifying a word document once converted FROM PDF

I am able to successfully convert a document to word from PDF after using ExportPDF. I can open it and everything looks fine but I am unamble to modify. Meaning, I need to complete the document electronically and I am unable to do so. I am not that technical so I just need basic instruction.

Using Word doc after converting from PDF

I have just purchased Adobe Export PDF purely to complete a Job Aaplication form in Word rather than PDF but the Word document does not allow me to edit it properly - i.e. I cannot expand the text boxes to make them bigger and when I try to add in information like my name and the post I'm applying for, it moves existing text from the original PDF doc onto different lines. I assumed once I'd converted it I could use it like a normal Word doc but it seems not. Please advise what I'm doing wrong, thank you.

After decades, I finally gave up on Microsoft and bought a MacBook Pro. However, for work, I still have to use Microsoft. When I try to edit a Word Document in any way a screen pops up saying Microsoft Word has encountered a problem and needs to close; gives me an option to recover my work and restart Word; when I click that option Word restarts but I alway lose my work. This just started; before it was working fine. Help?

NeoOffice ($10 but older version is free)
OpenOffice (completely free)
In addition to the above I also recommend Apple's Pages ($19.99). All of these options allow you to open, edit, and save Word-formatted documents and spreadsheets. I use OpenOffice and Pages and have been completely Microsoft - free for over a year now. Life is better without Microsoft.

Using Document to Go, I edited a word document and saved the document. I then sent this edited document to a friend who has a Mac using the new Snow Leopard operating system - he could not open the edited document, but could open the unedited, original document. What can be done with this problem?

dataviz website did not give me any assistance. File extension is file name plus .doc. There does not appear to be any way on the Blackberry Word to Go application area to change file extensions. Could the problem be due to the Snow Leapord OS not understanding Word to Go?

Applet to edit MS word document

We have a requirement in Oracle EBS R12.0.6 to allow users to edit a Word document (report) generated out of the system and then process it further (merge multiple documents into 1 PDF).
I cannot think of any way of implementing this requirement.
Is it possible to create an applet that reads file generated on the server, displays and allows user to edit it, and once the user is satisfied have a button to merge the word documents (standard API's are availabe in EBS for this).
I am not a Java expert, so if the above does not make much sense in Java world, please excuse
Any pointers/suggestions would be greatly appreciated

I think I have the same Problem. Everytime I try to open / edit a WORD or EXCEL file in the Solution Manager I get the following error Message: THE DOCUMENT CANNOT BE EDITED.
It seams like SM is not able to start the MS Word or MS Excel Application because with Txt Document types (where the SAP Editor is started) everything works fine.

Technically no. But what you can do is output a word document to the browser with the contenttype "application/msword" and if word is installed it will be opened inside the browser.

Word documents have disappeared from my desk top (macbook air) and cannot be found anywhere, happened after switching off and re-bootingk

Saved word documents have dissappeared from the desk top after saving. Problem seems to occur when laptop is switched off and then re-started. they can't be found anywhere e.g tried spotlight, recent documents etc. Help. Joe

Not sure about the MS Word message, but it looks like you might need an upgrade. I'd check with Microsoft, or perhaps VersionTracker.com.
Ok, back to the original problem. Does the message have any other text (intelligible or not)?
Does it give you any options, especially "report"? If so, take it, then look via Console for a crash log.
What IS in the system log for the sleep/wake time? There should be a System Sleep, followed by a System Wake, and perhaps another line or two. Anything in that area might be helpful.

You may first want to look into Safari's "Installed Plugins" section within the browser. This is (usually) found under the Safari Help header in the top of a browser. I say usually, because I don't use Safari often and mine is an older version. They handle applications and plugins like most others, to a point.

(in Safari 5.x, where I looked into this)
While I use FireFox, SeaMonkey (Mozilla) and others, where I can choose in preferences the helper applications to open from the browser, Safari has different methods; so if you can change this in the preferences or settings of Safari in a later version I am not certain.
You could see what the defaults are by using Safari help menu to open the Installed plugins, and maybe find out what happend to Adobe reader plugin. Could be it was 'sandboxed' in a later OS X and needs to be installed differently to be accepted as safe.
It is easier to set how a file type is handled once it is inside the computer and not held in the browser; by file type in general or specific to each single document. I do both, and seldom let an a browser do these things due to security considerations. I download and open them, only then if I feel they are safe.
