Storing XML Document as Data question...

Hi,
I read the document from http://technet.oracle.com/tech/xml/info/htdocs/otnwp/about_oracle_xml_products.htm and
this document mention that can store XML Document as Data.
How does it work? and is there any example code tha I can try?
Thanks for you kindly help!
Good day.

Go to http://technet.oracle.com/tech/xml/oracle_xsu/
That's the same URL where you found the XSU document.
Then click the Software tab at the top of the main frame.
If you don't see the Software tab, you may need to enable JavaScript. If you can't (or don't want to) enable JavaScript, try this URL: http://technet.oracle.com/software/tech/xml/oracle_xsu/htdocs/listing.htm
Thanks,

  • Use 1 stylesheet to translate 2 xml documents(raw data)into one  result xml

    I have one java application which can generate two xml documents (raw data), now i want to have one result xml which contains contents of these two xml documents(raw data) by using one stylesheet. is it possible?
    how to match template in the stylesheet?
    how to let the stylesheet know that it should read second raw xml?

    Yes it is possible.
    You didn't say whether you want to do this by invoking the transformation from a Java program, or with a stand-alone transformer, and which one.
    I've done an application where I had a main XML file and a secondary XML file. I invoked the transformation from Java, and passed a parameter to the stylesteet. It winds up looking like a variable ($parm for example).
    Here is the declaration of the param in the stylesheet.
    <xsl:stylesheet version="1.0"
                    xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform">
    <xsl:param name="list" />Next, I use the document function to read the file and produce a result tree (like a DOM object, in a sense).
    <xsl:variable name="phonemes"
                  select="document($list)" />Then, you can use code like the following to look for content in the secondary file:
    <xsl:if test="$phonemes/phonemes/allsounds[phoneme=$sound]" >This was complex, but it works.
    Another approach would be to have a small XML file with the names of the
    two XML files you want to process. You could do a for-each to process each of the tags in this little file, use the document function to read in the file and copy th eoutput to where you need it.
    So, in that case, you would be processsing 3 files rather than 2. If you are invoking from Java, the third file could be coded in a String rather than having to physically write it out.
    You've got a few ideas to consider.

  • Is it possible to use xml publisher with xml document as data source ?

    I have an application that have to publish document from xml document that are not part a oracle 10g database but will be stored into Oracle Berkeley XML database insteed. Is it possible to use server and/or desktop to publish these documents ?
    I test the desktop edition using the source xml document but it render no data when the template is executed (vizualization)
    I installed the server edition and i'm not able to declare xml document as a data source
    So i have a doubt that xml publisher is able to publish something from a xml datasource
    Thanks

    Yes, it is possible.
    The problem should come from your template. Refer to "edit a RTF template" in the docs.
    A fact is that XML Publisher server edition is not very adapted to an XML file datasource. In order to use it, you should use an HTTP datasource, with the URL of your XML document (that you should place on a web server...). The problem is that this URL is fixed and point always on the same reference...so XML Publisher server edition is not very good for that use.
    I choose to use the XML Publisher Java API which is better for this task.

  • Using XSU for Storing XML data

    Please how can I use the XSU API for storing XML documents in Oracle8i? I know part of the code to store a document but how do I import the XSU API?
    Do I have to download it or use it via Oracle?
    example:
    String xmlDoc = "my_xml_document";
    Connection conn = >>DriverManager.getConnection(...);
    OracleXMLSave sav = new OracleXMLSave
    (conn,"purchaseOrderTab");
    sav.insertXML(xmlDoc);But how do I use OracleXMLSave? How do I import the XSU API?
    thanks for your help

    What is XSU? I think you question should be posted at the XML or XDK forum.

  • How to generate XML from relational data : PL/SQL or Java

    I'm new to Oracle XML and would appreciate some advice. I've been asked to generate XML documents from data stored in relational tables. The XML documents must be validated against a DTD. We will probably want to store the XML in the database.
    I've seen a PL/SQL based approach as follows :
    1.Mimic the structure of the DTD using SQL object types 2.Assign the relational data to the object type using PL/SQL as required
    3.Use the SYS_XMLGEN package to render the required XML documents from the SQL objects
    However, creating the object types seems to be quite time consuming (step 1 above) for anything other than the simplest of XML documents.
    I've also seen that there is the Java based approach, namely :
    1. Use the XML generator to build Java classes based on a DTD.
    2. Use these classes to build the required XML
    On the face of it, the Java based approach seems simpler. However, I'm not that familiar with Java.
    Which is the best way to proceed ? Is the PL/SQL based approach worth pursuing or should I bite the bullet and brush up my Java ?
    Is it possible to use a combination of PL/SQL and Java to populate the dtd generated java classes (step 2 of the Java approach) to reduce my learning curve ?
    Thanks in advance

    To help answer your questions:
    1) Now, in 9iR2, you can use SQL/XML as another choice.
    2) You can also use XSU to generate the XML and use XSLT to transform it to a desired format instead of using object views if possible.
    3) XDK provide Class generator support to populate XML data to Java classes.

  • Parsing XML document with nested elements into multiple db tables(master-detail)

    Can you help me with storing xml document into master-detail tables?
    I have two tables:
    1) customers (customerid number primary key, firstname varchar2(30),lastname varchar2(30))
    2) cust_addresses (customerid number references customers, street varchar2(30),city varchar2(30),state varchar2(10),zip varchar2(10))
    I have XML document:
    <?xml version="1.0"?>
    <ROWSET>
    <ROW num="1">
    <CUSTOMERID>1044</CUSTOMERID>
    <FIRSTNAME>Paul</FIRSTNAME>
    <LASTNAME>Astoria</LASTNAME>
    <HOMEADDRESS>
    <STREET>123 Cherry Lane</STREET>
    <CITY>SF</CITY>
    <STATE>CA</STATE>
    <ZIP>94132</ZIP>
    </HOMEADDRESS>
    <HOMEADDRESS>
    <STREET>N.Fryda 4</STREET>
    <CITY>CB</CITY>
    <STATE>CZ</STATE>
    <ZIP>37005</ZIP>
    </HOMEADDRESS>
    </ROW>
    </ROWSET>
    I know that I must use DBSM_XMLSave package, create view and instead of trigger but I did found no example in documentation.
    Thanx.

    Interested question; one I do not know the answer to at the moment, I am afraid. I would like to know your results.
    To tell others, though, what I have done. I did finally adapt Muench's not-yet-published examples #71 to work with a table. Here the table has as it's value "#{backing_app_EPG_DAYPG.jobDayDriverTable[row.Id1]}"
    This accesses a hash map defined in the backing bean as follows:
    public Map jobDayDriverTable = new HashMap(){
    @Override
    public Object get(Object key) {
    Number jobDayId = (Number)key;
    if (getEpgDayPage().jobDayDrivers(jobDayId) != null) {
    return getEpgDayPage().jobDayDrivers(jobDayId).getAllRowsInRange();
    else return null;
    jobDayDrivers returns RowIterator. From this I call getAllRowsInRange which returns a Row[]. The table consumes this as a value, and lists the values as I want.
    Since the table is using Rows for its rows, I am guessing that it would have access to #{row.rowKeyStr}, or at least #{row.<pk>} which would allow you to programmatically set the current row using code like the following:
    public static boolean setCurrentRow() {
    // BindingContainer bindings = getBindings();
    OperationBinding operationBinding =
    // bindings.getOperationBinding("setCurrentRowWithKey");
    (OperationBinding)EL.get("#{bindings.setCurrentRowWithKey}");
    Object result = operationBinding.execute();
    if (!operationBinding.getErrors().isEmpty()) {
    return false;
    return true;
    You could call this as part of code in a pages backing bean behind a button or link.
    Hope this helps somebody.
    By the way example #71 was to get a detail set of rows from a master row value and display the detail set in the master row of an af:table.
    You can find this and other examples at http://radio.weblogs.com/0118231/stories/2004/09/23/notYetDocumentedAdfSampleApplications.html

  • Problem when trying to load an XML document with DTD or XML SCHEMA

    Hello
    I have tried to load an XML document in Data Services, and I created the xsd file and Dtd file. (With altova xml spy software automatically) to import into SAP Data Services 3.2. .
    In Data Services I created the dtd import file DTD and then called the XML file from the DTD (the xml file is validated vs the dtd file), and I could not read the xml correctly because it tells me that an ELEMENT called <item> expected joiners who did not come in the structure of import (dtd), but if the xml.
    I understand that the document root is the label: CUSTOMER_FULL_2014, the data flow is as follows:CARGA_XML_CUSTOMER |
    Turns out the joiners element is used to separate the xml elements are repeated, but is used at different levels. My idea is that the design will dtd second, or something I'm missing or is incorrectly stated.
    Thank you.

  • XML Document Generation

    Dear All
    I have a requirement to generate xml document from database as per given XML schema definition. I did this by using oracle report developer to generate out put as xml document.
    My question is that is there any sequence important for attribute for example
    XSD has attribute
    Name
    Address
    phoneno
    But When i generate xml document using oracle report developer it changes the sequence of attributes like this
    phoneno
    address
    name
    please guide that this wrong sequence of attribute have any problem when validating xml document with xsd.
    Regards

    XML 1.0 specifications :
    http://www.w3.org/TR/REC-xml/#sec-starttags
    The Name in the start- and end-tags gives the element's type. [Definition: The Name-AttValue pairs are referred to as the attribute specifications of the element], [Definition: with the Name in each pair referred to as the attribute name ] and [Definition: the content of the AttValue (the text between the ' or " delimiters) as the attribute value.] Note that the order of attribute specifications in a start-tag or empty-element tag is not significant.

  • How do i find documents stored in documents on iMac, using an iPad

    I want to access some documents stored in documents and data on my imac, using my ipad, via the cloud.
    I have cloud storeage set up on both devices, but do not know how to get to 'icloud' or the documents folder using my ipad.
    Also, how do I make itunes on my mac available in 'icloud' for me to access on my ipad when Im out and about? Is this possible??

    iCloud stored content is only available in iOS via the specific apps that use it (Contacts, Notes, Pages, Numbers, etc.). You would need to upload the files to iCloud on the imac to the appropriate section, then open them via the app. It is possible some third party office apps can access icloud, but I am not aware of any specifically.
    If you are using apps other than Pages, Numbers, or Keynote, or dealing with PDFs, you might want to explore DropBox or another cloud service.

  • A space in xml-document is stored in database as New line feed instead of n

    Hello,
    I have got the following problem:
    An xml-document is inserted by an xsql servlet into an object view. First this document is translated by an xsl file. Then an instead of trigger inserts the values into the right tables.
    When a space is present (only one space no further string-value) in the xml-document then this space is inserted into the database as a new line feed.(chr(10))
    When I add the following line to the tag
    <bnr_name xml:space="preserve"> </bnr_name>
    then the space is stored as a space. (chr(32))
    What I want is that this space is inserted as a NULL- value.
    Does anyone know a solution in xml or xsl? (Of course I can solve it on the database side by programming a function around it, but I want to solve it on the xml or xsl side)
    Bye
    jan-Paul Duister

    Few questions which might help to understand the issue.
    1. Is client's data is coming in more than 72 chars per each line? Then you can request client to send the data with max. 72 chars per line. Else dividing the string into 72 chars will loose the readability of text since logic can not be built to divide the text.
    Start reading the text string starting from left for maximum 72 chars . If 72th character is non space then go backwards i.e. read 71, 70, 69... till last character should be a SPACE.
    Eg. string is
    'xxxxxxxxxxx...........This material is created for plant xyz. date of creation is 03.02.2009'.
    x = string72(1) should be a SPACE else take x = string71(1)  and likewise.

  • Storing a portion of XML document as a CLOB

    Here is an example of what I am trying to do:
    <ROWSET>
    <ROW>
    <COLUMN1>123</COLUMN1>
    <COLUMN2>456</COLUMN2>
    <COLUMN3>
    <PARAMETERS>
    <PARAMETER1>1</PARAMETER1>
    <PARAMETER2>2</PARAMETER2>
    </PARAMETERS>
    </COLUMN3>
    </ROW>
    </ROWSET>
    There is a table with 3 columns (column1 VARCHAR2, column2 VARCHAR2, column3 CLOB). I'd like to put everything enlosed in COLUMN3 tag in "column3" db column which is a CLOB, i.e. without any formating. Does anyone have suggestions on how to accomplish this? Currenly the CLOB column remains empty (?) with other columns getting the data and there are no errors and I am setting the "CLOB" column for update.
    thanks,
    vadim

    Seems like I am replying to my own questions here. I thought storing a portion of XML document in as a clob was something many people had done or would be doing. In any case, the solution I found is to comment out the block that needs to be stored. In the example above, everything under COLUMN3 element should be surrounded by <!-- ... --> tags. One can add these using XSL. Even though it works, it has a taste of a hack and I would appreciate comments about the right way to accomplish my task.
    Thanks,
    vadim

  • How to insert data into a table from an xml document

    using the XmlSql Utility, how do I insert data into a table from an xml document, using the sqlplus prompt.
    if i use the xmlgen.insertXML(....)
    requires a CLOB file, which i dont have, only the xml doc.
    Cant i insert directly from the doc to the table?
    the xmlgen examples I have seen first convert a table to a CLOB xmlString and then insert it into another table.
    Isnt there any other way?

    Your question is little perplexing.
    If you're using XML SQL Utility from
    the commandline, just use putXML.
    java OracleXML putXML
    null

  • Very urgent help needed- Error while passing XML document to Oracle stored

    Hi !
    I have been struggling a lot to call Oracle 9i stored procedure passing Stringbuilder object type from ASP.NET
    I am using Visual Studio 2008 Professional, OS: Windows XP and Oracle: 9.2.0.1.0
    Following is the procedure:
    CREATE or REPLACE PROCEDURE loadCompanyInfo (clobxml IN clob) IS
    -- Declare a CLOB variable
    ciXML clob;
    BEGIN
    -- Store the Purchase Order XML in the CLOB variable
    ciXML := clobxml;
    -- Insert the Purchase Order XML into an XMLType column
    INSERT INTO companyinfotbl (companyinfo) VALUES (XMLTYPE(ciXML));
    commit;
    --Handle the exceptions
    EXCEPTION
    WHEN OTHERS THEN
    raise_application_error(-20101, 'Exception occurred in loadCompanyInfo procedure :'||SQLERRM);
    END loadCompanyInfo ;
    And following is the ASP.net code:
    StringBuilder b = new StringBuilder();
    b.Append("<?xml version=\"1.0\" encoding=\"utf-8\" ?>");
    b.Append("<item>");
    b.Append("<price>500</price>");
    b.Append("<description>some item</description>");
    b.Append("<quantity>5</quantity>");
    b.Append("</item>");
    //Here you'll have the Xml as a string
    string myXmlString1 = b.ToString();
    //string result;
    using (OracleConnection objConn = new OracleConnection("Data Source=testdb; User ID=testuser; Password=pwd1"))
    OracleCommand objCmd = new OracleCommand();
    objCmd.Connection = objConn;
    objCmd.CommandText = "loadCompanyInfo";
    objCmd.CommandType = CommandType.StoredProcedure;
    //OracleParameter pmyXmlString1 = new OracleParameter("pmyXmlString1", new OracleString(myXmlString1));
    objCmd.Parameters.Add("myXmlString1", OracleType.clob);
    objCmd.Parameters.Add(myXmlString1).Direction = ParameterDirection.Input;
    //objCmd.Parameters.Add("result", OracleType.VarChar).Direction = ParameterDirection.Output;
    try
    objConn.Open();
    objCmd.ExecuteNonQuery();
    catch (Exception ex)
    Label1.Text = "Exception: {0}" + ex.ToString();
    objConn.Close();
    When I am trying to execute it, I am getting the following error:
    Exception: {0}System.Data.OracleClient.OracleException: ORA-06550: line 1, column 7: PLS-00306: wrong number or types of arguments in call to 'LOADCOMPANYINFO' ORA-06550: line 1, column 7: PL/SQL: Statement ignored at System.Data.OracleClient.OracleConnection.CheckError(OciErrorHandle errorHandle, Int32 rc) at System.Data.OracleClient.OracleCommand.Execute(OciStatementHandle statementHandle, CommandBehavior behavior, Boolean needRowid, OciRowidDescriptor& rowidDescriptor, ArrayList& resultParameterOrdinals) at System.Data.OracleClient.OracleCommand.ExecuteNonQueryInternal(Boolean needRowid, OciRowidDescriptor& rowidDescriptor) at System.Data.OracleClient.OracleCommand.ExecuteNonQuery() at Default.Button1Click(Object sender, EventArgs e)
    I understand from this that the .net type is not the correct one, but I am not sure how to correct it. I could not find any proper example in any documentation that I came across. Most of the examples give information on how to read but not how to insert XML into Oracle table by calling Stored Procedure.
    Can you please help me to solve this problem? I hope that you can help solve this.
    Also, can you please give me an example of passing XML document XMLdocument to Oracle Stored procedure.
    In both the cases, if you can provide the working code then it would be of great help.
    Thanks,
