Strange event handling in firefox

I have a simple web page with an embedded quick time to play audio files. I register events (e.g., qt_play, qt_ended) and monitor their occurrence.
When I hit "play" I see the qt_play event, the audio plays, but I do not see the qt_pause or qt_ended events. If I move the mouse, then I see the events. If hit "play" and move the mouse but leave it on the quicktime object, I'll see all events. If I hit "play" and move the mouse off the quicktime object before the sound finishes, I will not see the events until I return the mouse over the quicktime object.

Seems like some kind of internal problem in QT? Any suggestions?

I encounter same problem.
It seems if I play audio file without video stream, QT is not unable to receive qt_ended event.
I checked following format.
.mov with videostream works fine.
.mov without videostream does not work.
.wav without videostream does not work.
.mp3 without videostream does not work.

What kind of tutorial are you writing?
Generally speaking, you should never recommend detecting browser capabilities by strings in the navigator properties. It is always better to use object/property/method detection if possible. Otherwise, you may miss crucial changes made in more recent versions of a browser, such as IE9 and later. Also, you should consider using the standardized approach to defining event handlers, which is addEventListener().
Here is an alternative example:

GUI event handling problems appear in 1.4.1 vs. 1.3.1?

Has anyone else experienced strange event handling problems when migrating from 1.3.1 to 1.4.1? My GUI applications that make use of Swing's AbstractTableModel suddenly don't track mouse and selection events quickly anymore. Formerly zippy tables are now very unresponsive to user interactions.
I've run the code through JProbe under both 1.3 and 1.4 and see no differences in the profiles, yet the 1.4.1 version is virtually unusable. I had hoped that JProbe would show me that some low-level event-handling related or drawing method was getting wailed on in 1.4, but that was not the case.
My only guess is that the existing installation of 1.3.1 is interfering with the 1.4.1 installation is some way. Any thoughts on that before I trash the 1.3.1 installation (which I'm slightly reluctant to do)?
My platform is Windows XP Pro on a 2GHz P4 with 1GB RAM.

Hi,
I've fixed the problem by upgrading to 1.4.1_02. I was on 1.4.1_01.
I did further narrow down the symptoms more. It seemed the further the distance from the previous mouse click, the longer it would take for the table row to highlight. So, clicking on row 1, then 2, was much faster than clicking on row 1, then row 40.
If no one else has seen this problem -- good! I wouldn't wish the tremendous waste of time I've had on anyone!

Repository event handler doesn't work when inserting an xml-doc via ftp

Hi,
I want to add a 'schemaLocation'-attribute to an XML-document when I load it in the repository. Therefore, I use the precreate-repository event and created a Repository Event Handler (see code extract below).
Everything works fine if I type the following code in SQL Plus:

Event handling in zranges custom tag

I am using the tutorials by Thomas Jung on the ranges. I am faces a very strange problem. I have created that extension. My application framework is like bsp_model application. I have one main controller and two sub controller. when ever I chose any option,
An event is generated and do_Handle_event of main controller is called but ideally the do_handle_event of right controller should be called .Any Explanation about this behavior.

As far as I know the Do_Handle_Event is called only for the controller in which event has been triggered it may be any sub-controllor or main controllor.
You are right that we dispatch the event through calling method Dispatch_input( ) in the Do_Request( ) method of main controller. Dispatch_Input do the followings...
1. First it calls Do_Handle_Data of sub-controllor's in the same order as they are instansiated in the main controllor and then finally Do_Handle_Data of main controllor is called.
2. Now Do_Handle_Event is called only for the controllor where event is triggered.
3 Now Do_Finish_Input is called in same sequence as Do_Handle_Data .
Correct me if I am wrong somewhare till now.
Now let me explaine my problem in detail...
I am using custom tag zranges in a view which is registered to a sub-controllor, I want to trap the event triggered when any option is selected but I am unable to do that. Please suggest me some solution to this prblem.

Hello everyone. I get an error in my chrome cosole, what can I do about this?
I dont have this problem in all browsers, just in chrome, and in some versions of Firefox.
The problem occurs when I click any label in the iframe (see website, speaks for itself).

I tried to do this by letting the iframe .trigger a .click to a button on the .parent page.
I did this in two ways.
one: the click is triggerd in (/by) the iframe
two: the click is triggerd by a script in the parent window, that script is launched by the iframe
Here's the thing:

The code is generated by adobe muse which has a function to smoothly scroll to a location on the page, and I am guessing the "anim_swing" class takes care of that.
I would like the colorful labels in the iframe to do the same thing as the <a> above.
and it works in some browsers on some computers but somehow not on all of them (with method two the adblocker doesn't seem to be an issue ).
I also tried to let the parent page scroll directly with the jquery .scrollto function. That did not work either (see the jquery forum).

My current "project" is a GUI applet that does real-time interactions on a set of objects and user input. I'm using double buffering, event handling (from the keyboard) and multiple threads to handle the categories of "user input and graphics" and "world state updating." }So the end result is that it works fine some of the time, but every once in awhile I'll get these strange results where it'll seem as if the internal thread that handles graphics and input will get bogged down or stop responding normally, even with the Thread.yield() call from the main applet thread. I'll get results where the world will continue to be updated correctly, but the user input and onscreen rendering freeze in a particular state for a matter of seconds, and then it seems to regain control for a brief few milliseconds (hence I'll get a quick screen refresh and keyboard state change), and then it'll freeze again. Once this starts happening somewhere in the middle of execution, it continues to happen throughout that runtime session. Sometimes when I force-close the appletviewer I'll get weird native runtime exceptions that seem to occur within Sun's keyboard input manager.
Almost always it'll run perfectly for many minutes, and then all of a sudden it'll start to freeze up. Every once in awhile it freezes almost immediately after startup. I've run some testcases on it and am pretty confident it has nothing to do with the synchronization or the fact that I create a new applet thread every time the applet is restarted dynamically. Is it something happening within the event thread of the applet that I'm not aware of? Or is it something wrong with the flow of my code? Thanks for any input or help you can give! Event message updates wrong event handler

EM Gurus.
I have a Strange problem that I'm trying to debug right now.
I'm sending an event message to inactivate an event handler. The event handler is not updated.
When I look in log SLG1 I see that a different event handler with a different event was updated!!
I repeat the same process 4 times and each time I look in SLG1 a different Event Handler and Event Message
can be seen.
On my 5th attempt my message posts correctly.
I'm guessing there must be some bad or old data that has the same guid and each time I send a message it clears
the bad/old data.
This probably helps explain a similar problem I have seen where the Expected Event Monitor did not update as expected.
Has anybody else seen this behaviour?

OIM Event Handler Triggers on Manual Entry but not for Trusted Recons

Hi,
I'm having some trouble getting my plugin to trigger upon a reconciliation. I've developed a plugin to modify some Xellerate User attributes on the OIM Profile.
- I've created a custom package with some java classes that retrieve attributes being passed in, manipulates the data, and returns the data through an EventResult
- I have system.out commands in my BulkEventResult function to see when this function is triggered
- My Plugin.xml calls this java class, which has a plugin point of oracle.iam.platform.kernel.spi.EventHandler
- I've uploaded the plugin (development) by putting the plugin.zip in the /server/plugin folder
- I've created an event handler that calls the plugin class upon an operation = "MODIFY". It also contains entity-type="User", stage="postprocess", order="FIRST", sync="TRUE"
- I've imported this using the weblogic import utility, setting OIMMetadata, and loaded the file to /custom/iam-data/EventHandler.xml
Upon testing, I am able to see my system.out debug statements in the logs, and can see the data actually changing when I am logged into OIM making changes directly on the system.
I am unable to see any of this come through when I run a trusted OID reconciliation against the same user, manipulating the same fields.
From what I've read, all I needed to do was put the code in the BulkEventResult function. However, none of my debug statements are being triggered, causing me to believe that this event handler is not even being triggered upon a trusted recon.

I found out the root of my issue: it was that my OPERATION was set to "MODIFY" in my EventHandler XML. It should have been "ANY". After I did this, it started to work.
As for registering plug-ins, you can actually drop the plugin zip file on the Oracle_IDM1/server/plugin directory for testing purposes, then re-import the EventHandler.XML you created.
I also found a few strange behaviors-
- If the order was too large (for example, 1000), it wouldn't trigger until the second time I updated it. I lowered the number to 50 and it kicked off every time.
- There is no purge cache needed when I re-imported the xml file after uploading the .jar again

How can I execute an external program from within a button's event handler?

I am using Tomcat ApacheTomcat 6.0.16 with Netbeans 6.1 (with the latest JDK/J2EE)
I need to execute external programs from an event handler for a button on a JSF page (the program is compiled, and extremely fast compared both to plain java and especially stored procedures written in SQL).
I tried what I'd do in a standalone program (as shown in the appended code), but it didn't work. Instead I received text saying the program couldn't be found. This error message comes even if I try the Windows command "dir". I thought with 'dir' I'd at least get the contents of the current working directory. :-(
I can probably get by with cgi on Apache's httpd server (or, I understand tomcat supports cgi, but I have yet to get that to work either), but whatever I do I need to be able to do it from within the button's event handler. And if I resort to cgi, I must be able to maintain session jumping from one server to the other and back.
So, then, how can I do this?

NB: The programs that I need to run do NOT take input from the user. Rather, my code in the web application processes user selections from selection controls, and a couple field controls, sanitizes the inoputs and places clean, safe data in a MySQL database, and then the external program I need to run gets safe data from the database, does some heavy duty number crunching, and puts the output data into the database. They are well insulated from mischeif.
NB: In the following array_function_test.pl was placed in the same folder as the web application's jsp pages, (and I'd tried WEB-INF - with the same result), and I DID see the file in the application's war file.

One way to execute an external program is to use the System Exec.vi. You find it in the functions pallet under Communication.

Copying text to the clipboard in AVDocDidOpen event handler causes Acrobat 9 to crash

I'm trying to copy the filename of a document to the clipboard in a plugin with my AVDocDidOpen event handler. It works for the first file opened; however when a second file is opened, Acrobat crashes. The description in the application event log is: "Faulting application acrobat.exe, version 9.1.0.163, faulting module gdi32.dll, version 5.1.2600.5698, fault address 0x000074cc."
I've confirmed that the specific WIN32 function that causes this to happen is SetClipboardData(CF_TEXT, hText); When that line is commented out and remaining code is left unchanged, Adobe doesn't crash.
Is there an SDK function that I should be using instead of WIN32's SetClipboardData()? Alternately, are there other SDK functions that I need to call be before or after I call SetClipboardData()

I tried it with both "DURING, HANDLER, END_HANDLER" and "try catch," as shown below. However, it doesn't crash in the event handler; it crashes later, so the HANDLER/catch block is never hit.
The string that's passed to SetClipboardData() is good, because I'm able to paste it into the filename text box of the print dialog when I try to create the "connector line" PDF. I also got rid of all the string manipulation and tried to pass a zero-length string to the clipboard but it still crashes.

Unable to get automatic event handling for OK button.

I have created a form using creatobject. This form contains an edit control and Search, Cancel buttons. I have set the Search buttons UID to "1" so it can handle the Enter key hit event. Instead its caption changes to Update when i start typing in the edit control and it does not respond to the Enter key hit. Cancel happens when Esc is hit.

So on refering to the documentation i tried out a few things. But I am still missing something here.

Dropdown box - which event handler to use ?

I am having trouble with setting the readonly property (via Javascript) of the adjacent textbox to my dropdown box when the index value is a certain number.
I tried using MouseUp, MouseDown, and even OnBlur....but the readonly does not seem to be getting set to true or false consistently.
Could this be a timing issue ? The textbox that I am trying to control is the next tab-order control in the list of controls for this page.
This same logic is working fine in the MouseUp event handler for check boxes. So I am just wondering if this is a bug or must my implementation change to accomodate dropdown boxes ? For instance, should I move the logic to the Enter event handler of the textbox instead ? Can a control's own eventhandler set itself to readonly when it is the active form field ?

After tons and tons of testing time, I've come to the conclusion that dropdowns are totally buggy in 11.0.07 release of Acrobat Pro.
Even if you set the "commit values immediately", you get the PRIOR selected item's value as the event value, not the CURRENT one.
This occurs in a Validate event handler script. I have not been able to use any other event handlers for a dropdown except the OnBlur....and then, for my purposes, IT'S TOO LATE !!!
This is totally worthless as I need to setFocus() and set fields to readonly based on the immediate dropdown offset or face value.
