StreamCorrupted Exception using ORACLE LITE8i
Our application on the client needs to insert word documents in the form of BLOBS in the ORACLE I LITE database.
I am using the below JDBC driver to store and retrieve the BLOB from the database and i have the ODBC driver for the Oracle LITE installed on the machine.
String jdbcURL = "jdbc:Polite:egcaspacclient";
String uid = "system";
String passwd = "***";
String driver = "oracle.lite.poljdbc.POLJDBCDriver";
But i try to read the BLOB from the database i am getting a streamCorrupted exception while reading the StreamHeader. I am using ObjectInputStream and ObjectOutputStream to store and retrieve the BLOB information.
I infact tried the same code with the ORACLE8i database and it is working.
I read some documentation that Oracle LITE supports storing the BLOBS.
I am wondering if anything wrong with the driver i am using.
Also the datatype in the BLOB column of the database is showing as undefined. But i see some information is stored to that column when i insert the BLOB.
I would appreciate if anybody provide with some clues.
Thanks

How to log the exception using Log action in Oracle Service Bus
Hi,
Whenever an exception is raised how to log the exception using Log action in oracle service bus.After logging where I have to find the logged message.It would be in the log file for the managed server which ran the request. If you are logging the message at a lower level than your app server, however, you won't see it. You should be logging the exception at Error level.

You'll get a faster, more effective response to your questions by including as much relevant information as possible upfront. This should include:
<li>Full APEX version
<li>Full DB/version/edition/host OS
<li>Web server architecture (EPG, OHS or APEX listener/host OS)
<li>Browser(s) and version(s) used
<li>Theme
<li>Template(s)
<li>Region/item type(s)
With APEX we're fortunate to have a great resource in apex.oracle.com where we can reproduce and share problems. Reproducing things there is the best way to troubleshoot most issues, especially those relating to layout and visual formatting. If you expect a detailed answer then it's appropriate for you to take on a significant part of the effort by getting as far as possible with an example of the problem on apex.oracle.com before asking for assistance with specific issues, which we can then see at first hand.
Thanks for posting the complete code, it makes it so much easier to understand the problem, but always post code wrapped in tags<tt>\...\</tt> tags to preserve formatting and special characters.

Commits should be issued by end user/client software on completion of a transaction. This means <tt>commit;</tt> should almost never appear in PL/SQL code. The main exception to this is in <tt>dbms_job/secheduler</tt> scheduled processes that have no client or UI. If this code is executed from APEX, then APEX issues more than enough commits anyway.

Looking for some help with using Oracle stored procedures in vb2010
First off thank you to whoever lends me a hand with my problem. A little background first I am in a software development class and we are currently building our program using VB (I have no experience in this), and Oracle(currently in a Oracle class so I know how to use Oracle itself just not with VB).
I am using vb2010 express edition if that helps. Currently I have a stored procedure that takes a 4char "ID" that returns a position (ie, salesperson,manager ect). I want to use the position returned to determine what vb form is displayed (this is acting as a login as you dont want a salesperson accessing the accountants page for payroll ect).
Here is the code I have currently on the login page of my VB form
Imports Oracle.DataAccess.Client
Imports Oracle.DataAccess.Types
Public Class Login
Dim conn As New OracleConnection
Private Sub empID_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles empID.Click
End Sub
Private Sub LoginBtn_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles LoginBtn.Click
conn.ConnectionString = "User ID = Auto" & _
";Password = ********" & _
";Data Source = XE"
conn.Open()
Dim sq1 As String = "Return_Position" 'name of procedure
Dim cmd As New OracleCommand(sq1, conn)
cmd.CommandType = CommandType.StoredProcedure
cmd.Parameters.Add(New OracleParameter("I_EmpID", OracleDbType.Char, 4)).Value = Emp_ID.Text
Dim dataReader As OracleDataReader = cmd.ExecuteReader
dataReader.Read()
Dim position As New ListBox
position.Items.Add(dataReader.GetString(0)) 'were I am getting an error, I also tried using the dataReader.getstring(0) to store its value in a string but its a no go
If position.FindStringExact("MANAGER") = "MANAGER" Then
Me.Hide()
Dim CallMenu As New Menu()
CallMenu.ShowDialog()
End If
LoginBtn.Enabled = False
End Sub
I have read the oracle.net developer guide for using oracle in vb2010 and have successfully gotten through the document however they never use a stored procedure, since the teacher wants this program to user a layered architecture I cannot directly store sql queries like the document does, thus the reason I want to use stored procedures.
This is getting frustrating getting stuck with this having no background in VB, I could easily do this in c++ using file i/o even through it would be a pain in the rear....Hello,
I am calling Oracle 11g stored procedures from VB.Net 2010. Here is a code sample (based on your code) you should be able to successfully implement in your application.
Please note that you may have to modify your stored procedure to include an OUT parameter (the employee position) if it doesn't have it yet.
Private Sub LoginBtn_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles LoginBtn.Click
Dim sProcedureName As String = "Return_Position" 'name of stored procedure
Dim ORConn as OracleConnection, sConn as String
Dim sPosition as String, sDataSource as String, sSchema as String, sPWD as String
Dim cmd As OracleCommand
'please provide below sDataSource, sSchema and sPWD in order to connect to your Oracle DB
sConn = "Data Source=" & sDataSource & ";User Id=" & sSchema & ";Password=" & sPWD & ";"
ORConn = New OracleConnection(sConn)
ORConn.Open()
cmd = New OracleCommand(sProcedureName, ORConn)
With cmd
.CommandType = Data.CommandType.StoredProcedure
'input parameter in your stored procedure is EmpId
.Parameters.Add("EmpID", OracleDbType.Varchar2).Value = Emp_ID.Text
.Parameters.Item("EmpID").Direction = ParameterDirection.Input
'output parameter in your stored procedure is Emp_Position
.Parameters.Add("Emp_Position", OracleDbType.Varchar2).Direction = ParameterDirection.Output
.Parameters.Item("Emp_Position").Size = 50 'max number of characters for employee position
Try
.ExecuteNonQuery()
Catch ex As Exception
MsgBox(ex.Message)
Exit sub
End Try
End With
sPosition = cmd.Parameters.Item("Emp_Position").Value.ToString
'close Oracle command
If Not Cmd Is Nothing Then Cmd.Dispose()
Cmd = Nothing
'close Oracle connection
If Not ORConn Is Nothing Then
If not ORConn.State = 0 Then
ORConn.Close()
End If
ORConn.Dispose()
End If
ORConn = Nothing
If UCase(sPosition) = "MANAGER" Then
Me.Hide()
Dim CallMenu As New Menu()
CallMenu.ShowDialog()
End If
LoginBtn.Enabled = False
End Sub
If you need further assistance with the code, please let me know.

Error in creating Connection Pool using Oracle Thin Driver

Did you setup the JDBC library classpath correctly?
For me, e.g. Oracle 7.3.4, the classpath should be:
export CLASSPATH = /oracle7.3.4/jdbc/lib/classes.zip:%CLASSPATH%
Noted that the JDBC classpath must be the first classpath element in
the export

Hi,
We are doing a proof of concept using Oracle Lite 10gR3. Installed Mobile server and published a JSP based application. Error executing query using oracle XA datasource
Hi,
The following is the error I am getting while trying to access a resource from a datasource. The same code works fine if I use a normal datasource(non-xa datasource)
Configuration: WSAD 5.1 running over jre ver 1.4 and oracle 8.1.7. I have put classes12.zip in the classpath of the server.
Code:
DBSelect sel = new DBSelect();
sel.setDataSourceName("jdbc/ds1");
sel.setInitialContextFactory("com.ibm.websphere.naming.WsnInitialContextFactory");
sel.setProviderUrl("iiop://localhost:2809/");
sel.setCommand("select 1 from dual");
sel.execute();
System.out.println(sel.getConnectionSpec());
if (sel.onRow()) {
do {
System.out.println(sel.getColumnAsString(1));
} while (sel.next());
sel.close();
I have also tried using the beolow mentioned code, which aso fails with a similar exception
DataSource ds = (DataSource)PortableRemoteObject.narrow(ctx.lookup("jdbc/ds1"), DataSource.class);
ds.setLogWriter(new PrintWriter(System.out));
Connection con = ds.getConnection();
Statement s = con.createStatement();
ResultSet rs = s.executeQuery("select 1 from dual")
I will really appreciate if someone can help me here to solve this problem

Rgds,
DaveI am facing the same problem..... I always get the answers to my problem by reading the forums.. This time I am really not lucky enough. I am using Oracle 8.1.7. Does it have anything to do with version. I have used both ojdb14.jar and classes12.jar to get the same error output.
Anybody has answer to it? -
ORA-00911 Error code in JDBC where no special character is used - Oracle 10
Hi,
I am using Oracle 10G and Tomcat 5.5. I am trying to update a the CONFIRMED column of a table called LISTSERV_WAITING_LIST_TABLE. Please see my code below.
public void doPost(HttpServletRequest request, HttpServletResponse response){
String resRef = getServletContext().getInitParameter("java.comp.env");
String jdbcDbRef = getServletContext().getInitParameter("jdbc.database");
Context dbInitContext = null;
Context dbEnvContext = null;
DataSource dbSource = null;
Connection conn = null;
PreparedStatement prepStatement = null;
String uemail = request.getParameter("email").toUpperCase();
String userId = request.getParameter("userId");
String waitingListTable = getServletContext().getInitParameter("db.waiting.list.table.name");
try{
dbInitContext = new InitialContext();
dbEnvContext = (Context)dbInitContext.lookup(resRef);
dbSource = (DataSource)dbEnvContext.lookup(jdbcDbRef);
conn = dbSource.getConnection();
String sqlcmd = "update " + waitingListTable + " SET CONFIRMED = 'YES' WHERE UEMAIL = '" + uemail + "' and USERID = '" + userId + "';";
prepStatement = conn.prepareStatement(sqlcmd);
prepStatement.executeUpdate();
}catch(NamingException e){
log("Area 4A: NamingException occured");
}catch( SQLException e){
log("Area 4B: Exception occured", e);
When I run the code, I receive the following error message:

However, when I type the value of the string sqlcmd (used in the PreparedStatement) directly into Oracle, the update works. An example of that string is:
update listserv_waiting_list SET CONFIRMED = 'YES' WHERE UEMAIL = '[email protected]' and USERID = '1142369642862';
It contains no stange character and rows are inserted successfully in another class of the program that uses the same mechanism. The problem comes when I update the table.
Any idea as to what is wrong? Your help will be appreciated.
Thanks,
Nguessanbuddy, why don't you use a stored procedure and make your update, i hate that upkeeping.
callablestatement and the power of Plsql are ur saviours.

Hi,
Requirement: Get Windows User Name using Oracle Web Forms 6i.
Tools Using: Windows NT, Oracle web forms 6i, Oracle 10g DB.
Description: I am using GetClientInfo JBean from otn.oracle.com, which gets windows user name, IP address and machine name. The demo I got from oracle web site uses Jinitiator version 1.1.7.18. While we are using the latest version Jinitiator 1.3.1.17. Due to this reason, I am unable to use Javakey which comes with older version but doesn't come with newer version, that's why I can't create the new JavaBean Java identity (PJC).
Please advise what to do. All environment variables are set everything is done, this is the only thing bothering me.
I went through the article 202768.1 from metalink, but on step 5, it gives an error keytool error: java.lang.Exception: Input not an X.509 Certificate.
Also, please let me know if there is any other workaround for this requirement.
Thanks & Best Regards,
MoHi,
Thanks for your kind reply. Actually there was a problem in creating a certificate, now it is okay with the same method. Certificate got imported on client and everything is ready.
Now, the problem is when I try to set Bean Area Implementation Class property with oracle.forms.demos.GetClientInfo, it gives an error FRM-13008 Cannot find JavaBean with name 'oracle.forms.demos.GetClientInfo'.
I went through the articles 1072329.6, 196824.1, and set ClassPath and Path variables with proper values. Also, I have copied jar file and signature file in forms60/java folder. I don't see any problems. Please let me know what I am doing wrong. My limitation is that I have to do all this in forms6i.
I searched forums on metalink and found out that someone installed Patch 15, and everything went okay for him. Do you think I should install Patch 15? if YES, how will I do it, I mean should I first uninstall my forms and then install patch15 or install the patch on my forms?
Thanks so much for your help.
Thanks & Best Regards,

Performance Issue in using Oracle Rules SDK!!!!
Hi,
I am using Oracle rules SDK. I have created a dictionary and declared 9 global variables in it. Now, before testing my ruleset in my code, I populate those variables and update datamodel.
Date startDate = new Date();
try
this.dataModel.update();
*}catch (Exception e) {*
e.printStackTrace();
Date endDate = new Date();
long duration = endDate.getTime() - startDate.getTime();
System.out.println("Time Taken : "+duration);
Now the issue is that time taken by dataModel.update() is freaking 4210 milliseconds, i.e 4.2 seconds. Any idea why this is slow??
oracle.rules.sdk.editor.datamodel.DataModel = new DataModel(ruleDictionary);When your query takes too long ...
Thanks,

can you point me to the "FSCM TUD" doc you follow so I can reproduce the issue ? Is it a JDeveloper tutorial? Also, which version of JDeveloper do you use ?
