Streaming data into LONG results in ORA-24307

I am migrating an application to a new environment. During testing I am receiving the following error when trying to insert a record into an Oracle 8.1.7.4 table:
Error saving report: update BlobPiece osetpi(): ORA-24307: invalid length for piece
The table has a column defined as LONG. I am using a prepared staement and setAsciiStream to perform the insert. I have been able to determine that the error happens when the data being streamed exceeds 4000 bytes (i.e. 4001 bytes).
Connection to the table is made by using a datasource with the ORACLE_OCI driver. If I change the connection to use an Oracle thin driver, the insert is performed (code provided below).
I would prefere not to change the connection method if possible. Any help resolving this problem would be appreciated. Thanks.
Here is the insert code being used:
public void create(SavedReportImpl report, String userId)
throws ReportManagerException {
StringBuffer sql = new StringBuffer();
// NOTE: Must utilize a prepared statement since this insert contains
// an Oracle Long column type
java.sql.PreparedStatement statement = null;
String modelCd = report.getModel().getModelCd().toUpperCase();
if (modelCd.length() != 7) {
modelCd = " " + modelCd;
sql.append("INSERT ");
sql.append("INTO ");
sql.append("PRCT012 ");
sql.append("(");
sql.append("MODL_YR_NBR, ");
sql.append("PRICE_CD, ");

  • Streaming data into a HDF5 file using mathscript

    Hi Everybody,
    I am developing a data logging system with a requirement to stream data into HDF5 files. I have previously written scripts in Matlab to stream the data using commands such as H5D.write etc. I do not seem to be able to access such low level commands in Mathscript. Is it possible to install any package to allow the use of these HDF5 commands in Mathscript?
    Thanks,

    I also asked this question but there seems no definite solution...
    Anyway, here are two possibilities
    1) Share the directory holding the file among all nodes
    2) Run you procedure on a specific node

  • Use 1 stylesheet to translate 2 xml documents(raw data)into one  result xml

    I have one java application which can generate two xml documents (raw data), now i want to have one result xml which contains contents of these two xml documents(raw data) by using one stylesheet. is it possible?
    how to match template in the stylesheet?
    how to let the stylesheet know that it should read second raw xml?

    Yes it is possible.
    You didn't say whether you want to do this by invoking the transformation from a Java program, or with a stand-alone transformer, and which one.
    I've done an application where I had a main XML file and a secondary XML file. I invoked the transformation from Java, and passed a parameter to the stylesteet. It winds up looking like a variable ($parm for example).
    Here is the declaration of the param in the stylesheet.
    <xsl:stylesheet version="1.0"
                    xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform">
    <xsl:param name="list" />Next, I use the document function to read the file and produce a result tree (like a DOM object, in a sense).
    <xsl:variable name="phonemes"
                  select="document($list)" />Then, you can use code like the following to look for content in the secondary file:
    <xsl:if test="$phonemes/phonemes/allsounds[phoneme=$sound]" >This was complex, but it works.
    Another approach would be to have a small XML file with the names of the
    two XML files you want to process. You could do a for-each to process each of the tags in this little file, use the document function to read in the file and copy th eoutput to where you need it.
    So, in that case, you would be processsing 3 files rather than 2. If you are invoking from Java, the third file could be coded in a String rather than having to physically write it out.
    You've got a few ideas to consider.

    Do I have to create the HS_TRANSACTION_LOG table in my msql server to resolve this problem?
    Thanks

    Vincent,
    If the gateway insert is being done as part of a trigger then it will almost certainly be part of a distributed transaction so yes, you will have to create the transaction log table and the recovery user in the SQL*Server database.
    As well as the gateway documentation have a look at this note in My Oracle Support -
    Note.227011.1 How to Setup DG4MSQL to Use Distributed Transactions          (Doc ID 227011.1)

  • Streaming data to disk, need help reading data into Power Spectrum/Octave vi

    I'm streaming data to disk in one loop, however once this finishes I'd like to read the data into power spectrum vi/Octave analysis vi in another loop. The data from the read vi is a string and power spectrum vi needs 1d waveform. Does anyone have experience with this process?

    From your general description, I gather you are streaming to a text based file (comma or tab separated spreadsheet format) and would like to analyse this data with a power spectrum or octave analysis when you finish. Since you are streaming, I assume you have a lot of data. Do you have more than one channel?
    In any case, you have two simple options (and lots of complex ones). You can either read the data back from disk and convert it to a 1D array (try the Read From Spreadsheet File.vi - will get a 2D array, take the first column or the column of your choice if you have more than one channel) or you can use the Spreadsheet String to Array primitive to create an array from your text data before you save it to disk.
    If your data rate is slow enough, you can analyze as you acquire and store.
    Taking your data as text is very inefficient. What you really want to do is read the data as binary, use that for your analysis, and use something like the Write to Spreadsheet File.vi to save text data to disk.

  • I am looking for a way to enter multiple dates into a field without the form becoming too long.

    I am looking for a way to enter multiple dates into a field without the form becoming too long.
    This will be used by an old school bookeeper who needs the form to fit on one page.
    Any ideas?

    Hi,
    If you don't need the field to provide a date picker, verify it's a date, or don't need to sort the dates in the table, you can just use a text area field, and have your form filler enter the dates comma separated.  Otherwise you'd have to add multiple fields.  However, you can lessen the space each field takes up veritically, by using the "Labels Left" option (in the toolbar).

    This is similar, bot not quite the same problem as for attributes. In the case of attributes, the problem was bad defaulting of the VARCHAR2 length by AWM. To fix it is was just necessary to give an appropriate length.
    Your issue is more serious since it lies in the server itself, which attempts (badly in this case) to derive the data type from the expression. In this it determines that the data type is VARCHAR2, but it defaults the data length to 60 instead of deriving the length from the contents. I am not aware of any workarounds in 11.1.0.7 for this problem. CAST, for example, does not solve the problem. The bug is addressed in 11.2 beta releases, but it was a non-trivial project that is no likely to be back ported to 11.1.0.7. It may be possible to bump up the default of 60 to something higher, but this is not a general solution.
    The TO_CLOB error is due to the fact that the CLOB data type (and hence TO_CLOB function) is not supported by the AW. It is supported by relational tables, which is why it is listed in the OLAP API. It can be used, for example, in the mapping between cube and table as long as you resolve the CLOB into an AW data type again.
