Struts issue

I use struts 1.2.
When I click whatIf.do (http://localhost:7101/whatIf.do)
it opens the main page (http://localhost:7101/).
Other pages works as expected.
What could be this issue? Thanks.

I have resolved the loop trouble, was logic error in my struts form validate :(
thks

    Hi all I am having a struts issue trying to work with indexedProperty, mostly because I don't quite follow what the eception is saying here. I am not certain how to interpret the values given to me here. Hopefully someone can point out the braindead thing that I am missing, thanks in advance. I have been fightinging with this one for a while and unfortunately haven't had much luck on the struts mailing list, so I am hoping someone here might be able to give me the nugget of information that I am missing.

    0Well, your array has a size of 0, but you'reasking
    for the 7th item (yourArray[6])
    That's likely not very helpful, but it's all I gotYou're right it isn't really that helpful, but i do
    appreciate your taking a moment to reply. The part
    that is really confusing me is how on earth it is
    making it to the 6th position before it has a problem
    as this is an array of size 100 and I iterate through
    the entire thing. Well, the array that is causing this error not an array of size 100, it's an array of size 0. So I'm curious as to what array it's complaining about...

  • Error "page is not participating" while porting app from 10.1.2 to 10.1.3

    I have an old web application built using Struts 1.1 framework. I am trying to port this app from 10.1.2 to 10.1.3 OAS.
    The application is working fine on 10.1.2 for years but on porting to 10.1.3 application is working partially as some pages are are getting weird error as specified below.
    java.lang.IllegalStateException: page is not participating in session
         at com.evermind.server.http.EvermindPageContext.getAttribute(EvermindPageContext.java:643)
         at org.apache.struts.taglib.html.FormTag.initFormBean(FormTag.java:537)
         at org.apache.struts.taglib.html.FormTag.doStartTag(FormTag.java:520)
         at _mytest._jspService(_mytest.java:333)I tried debugging the issue but could not find the root cause of the problem.
    Line 333 in error is where it's using struts-html form tag in jsp. The content of the page before this tag is displaying fine.
    <html:form name="MyTestForm"
                 method="post"
                 action="/test"
                 type="web.MyTestForm">The strange part is, other jsp's in application using the tag are working fine. Not sure why the error is occuring only on some pages.
    I have also checked the configuration, deployment setup, libraries, etc and all seems to be in place.
    I searched on web but found nothing except this somewhat related issue and tried the solution mentioned in this link http://www.velocityreviews.com/forums/t131230-struts-losing-session-after-jsp-page.html but in vain.
    (Not sure if this a Struts issue or OC4J issue so I am trying it on related forums)
    Any idea,help, suggestion, solution would be highly appreciated.
    Thanks

    JDeveloper 10.1.3 supports JDK 5.0.
    To run JDeveloper 10.1.2 applications in JDeveloper 10.1.3, set J2SE Version to 1.4.2 with Tools>Project Properties>Libraries>J2SE Version.

    Does anyone know a way to tell it to look in the war file?Not me, but I wish I could.
    or Does anyone know a better place to post a question like this?This seems more like a Struts issue to me. Look here:

    and follow the thread. Someone suggested a patch to the ActionServlet, I
    haven't tried it yet. It sounds good and will probably do what you want.

  • Issue in converting Struts view to JSF view using struts-faces integration

    Hi All,
    I am facing a issue in my Sruts to JSF conversion application using struts-faces.jar integration library.
    Need expert's help desperately as I am not able to use <s:form> tag in my new jsf page to call a struts action.
    I want to call a struts action from my web page designed using JSF,
    but it seems impossible without using <s:form> tag from struts-faces integration library.
    Please suggest how to resolve this...
    I am using WSAD 5.1 IDE with inbuilt Test environment WebSphere server
    JSF Version: Sun's RI 1.1
    Struts framework: 1.2.6
    Struts-Faces Integration Library version: 1.0
    I have configured a controller element in struts-config.xml file as has been suggested by different online
    documents I studied:
    <controller>
    <set-property property="processorClass"
    value="org.apache.struts.faces.application.FacesRequestProcessor"/>
    </controller>
    But configuring a controller does not allow my test server to start up properly and due to errors the ActionServlet also becomes unavailable.
    If I comment the controller and start the test server it starts fine but then I cannot access the converted jsf page which contains the <s:form action="/xxxxx.do"> tag.
    If now I get back to <h:form> tag instead of <s:form> tag with a <h:commandButton action="xxxx.do"/> for form submission in my jsf page, I see the html page generated with all components but now checking the html source generated I see
    <form action="/contextName/jspFolder/sameDisplayedPage.jsf"> which is not valid and never gets called successfully.
    I think someways I need to use the <s:form> tag with the controller configured properly to use the struts-faces integration library's request processor, to get things working. But HOW???
    Following is the error I get if I use the <controller> tag element in struts-config.xml file and start the server.
    This error appears on starting the server without accessing any application's jsp web page

    Finally if I change my <s:form action="xxxxx.do"> tag to
    <h:form>
    <h:commandButton id="submit" action="xxxx.do" value="Submit" />
    I see the webpage coming up in the browser (no controller element used in struts-config.xml file this time)
    But in the html source of this html created from jsf I see
    <form id="_id2" method="post" action="/training2/jsp/welcomeF.faces" enctype="application/x-www-form-urlencoded">
    here form's action attribute is pointing to the same displayed page with the context name prefixed. I
    assume it is because jsf could not resolve the "xxxx.do" action to anything so set it to the same displayed page.
    May be I am wrong as usual...
    Below is the simple struts jsp page which I need to convert to jsf page as I am converting only the View part of application.
    I want to use the same struts beans and application logic at the back-end. At front-end I need UIComponents from JSF to be used.
    Following is the struts jsp page
    <%@ page language="java" contentType="text/html; charset=ISO-8859-1" pageEncoding="ISO-8859-1" %>
    <%@ taglib prefix="html" uri="/WEB-INF/lib/struts-html.tld" %>
    <%@ taglib prefix="bean" uri="/WEB-INF/lib/struts-bean.tld" %>
    <html:html>
    <html:base/>
    <html:messages id="messages" />
    <font style="color:red; font=weight:italic; font-family: century gothic">
    <html:errors/>
    </font>
    <BODY>
    <P>Sample Struts and JSF integration example</P>
    <P>This one is being displayed via Struts specific tags</P>
    <html:form action="validateUser.do">
    <bean:message key="label.name" /> : <html:text property="name" />
    <bean:message key="label.password" /> : <html:password property="password" />
    <bean:message key="label.age" /> : <html:text property="age" />
    <bean:message key="label.city" /> : <html:text property="city" />
    <bean:message key="label.address" /> : <html:text property="address" />
    <html:submit property="submit" value="Show info via Struts" />
    </html:form>
    </BODY>
    </html:html>
    I have converted it into the following jsf page
    <%@ page language="java" contentType="text/html; charset=ISO-8859-1" pageEncoding="ISO-8859-1" %>
    <%@ taglib uri="http://java.sun.com/jsf/core" prefix="f" %>
    <%@ taglib uri="http://java.sun.com/jsf/html" prefix="h" %>
    <%@ taglib uri="http://struts.apache.org/tags-faces" prefix="s" %>
    <f:view>
    <HTML><BODY>
    <f:verbatim><P>Sample Struts and JSF integration example</P></f:verbatim>
    <f:verbatim><P>This one is being displayed via JSF tags</P></f:verbatim>
    <h:form> <!-- Want to use s:form tag instead of this h:form tag -->
    <h:inputText id="name" value="#{userForm.name}" /><f:verbatim>
    </f:verbatim>
    <h:inputSecret id="password" value="#{userForm.password}" /><f:verbatim>
    </f:verbatim>
    <h:inputText id="age" value="#{userForm.age}" /><f:verbatim>
    </f:verbatim>
    <h:inputText id="city" value="#{userForm.city}" /><f:verbatim>
    </f:verbatim>
    <h:inputText id="address" value="#{userForm.address}" /><f:verbatim>
    </f:verbatim>
    <h:commandButton id="submit" action="#{user.facesAction}" value="Show info via Struts" />
    </h:form>
    </BODY></HTML>
    </f:view>
    I am very hopeful of some answer from respected group experts, please help me.
    I am in urgency of course but would not push for immed. response like other, just want some help for sure that is going to
    be extremely valuable to me. Anticipating a helping hand...

    Time's fun when you're having flies Kermit, the Frog
    -------------------------------------------------------------------------

    I've managed to get this working Ok from JDeveloper:
    See:
    http://www.groundside.com/blog/content/DuncanMills/J2EE+Development/?permalink=573FDB6F8D918B9704907899635CABB1.txt
    http://www.groundside.com/blog/content/DuncanMills/J2EE+Development/?permalink=2B04ACE99A6437EDED775F15553D1DED.txt
    Basically you just have to fiddle around with Library settings to get this working OK.
    As to how useful this is, well that's up to you - I'd not regard Faces + Struts as a must use combination, rather it's a can mix if you really need to. Look at Faces and Faces navigation first and see if that actually gives you enough before you start to look at mixing.

  • InputText issue with Struts

    I'm using jsf 1.1 with struts 1.3.5 and am experiencing an issue with the inputText element. The problem is the name attribute being generated is not allowing the form bean's attributes to be set. For example:
    <h:inputText id="username" value="#{loginForm.username}"/>
    generates
    <input id="_idJsp3:username" name="_idJsp3:username" type="text" value=""/>
    The issue being the name of the field is _idJsp3:username so the form property 'username' is not getting set. I've tried removing the inputText tag and replacing it with this:
    <input name="username" type="text"/>
    And it works. What's the deal? I know a lot of people have used/are using JSF and struts together, what am I doing wrong?
    By the way, this is the last hurdle i need to clear so any help would be appreciated.

    first - thanks for your reply
    I can understand what you mean , to adhere to the MVC conception , we need to have any action go through the controler .
    but , once I wanna access to a jsp file , then I need to set a global-forward and a ForwardAction , when time goes by, and the project keeps getting larger , so there will be too many forwards and FrowardActions , right ?
    actually , I have a Office.jsp , which has a frameset inside , left and right,each invokes a jsp file like this :
    <frameset rows="*" cols="144,*" framespacing="2" frameborder="NO" border="2" bordercolor="#CC0000">
    <frame src="OfficeLeft.jsp" name="leftFrame" scrolling="NO" noresize>
    <frame src="Notification.jsp" name="RightFrame">
    </frameset>
    when I have successfully forwarded to this Office.jsp , it prompts OfficeLeft.jsp and Notification.jsp are not available. so my problem is I don't know how to get this work fine .

  • Struts automatic Validator issue

    Hi,
    I am new to struts. I was trying to use the automatic validation for my application. I guess I have followed all the steps mentioned in the help documents from struts. Still I ma getting the following error while starting the JBoss server. Could anyone tell me what could be the reason?
    If I am not wrong, the issue might be with commos-validator.jar or any other jar file? If so please let me know the correct version & the URL to download the same.

    You should use the jars provided on the struts framework homepage. A nice tutorial about validation in struts can be find here: http://courses.coreservlets.com/Course-Materials/pdf/struts/09-Struts-Automatic-Validation.pdf
    Check that tutorial to see if you've done everithing well.

  • My issue with struts, any help ?

    hi all
    first time being here, hope a good time ....
    my issue is that when I try to prevent from direct access to jsp under struts framework by place jsp files under /WEB-INF/pages on tomcat 5.0.30 ,I made it from index.jsp (/index.jsp) to /WEB-INF/pages/1.jsp by using ForwardAction , but when I try to nevigate to 2.jsp (relative to 1.jsp) without a ForwardAction , the container prompted me resource is not available, so the problem is if I have to use a FrowardAction everytime when I wanna access to jsp files somewhere under /WEB-INF, even from jsp which is in the same directory under /WEB-INF
    any hand will be preciated !
    thanks a lot in adv !!
    blf0

    first - thanks for your reply
    I can understand what you mean , to adhere to the MVC conception , we need to have any action go through the controler .
    but , once I wanna access to a jsp file , then I need to set a global-forward and a ForwardAction , when time goes by, and the project keeps getting larger , so there will be too many forwards and FrowardActions , right ?
    actually , I have a Office.jsp , which has a frameset inside , left and right,each invokes a jsp file like this :
    <frameset rows="*" cols="144,*" framespacing="2" frameborder="NO" border="2" bordercolor="#CC0000">
    <frame src="OfficeLeft.jsp" name="leftFrame" scrolling="NO" noresize>
    <frame src="Notification.jsp" name="RightFrame">
    </frameset>
    when I have successfully forwarded to this Office.jsp , it prompts OfficeLeft.jsp and Notification.jsp are not available. so my problem is I don't know how to get this work fine .

  • Struts Design & Technical issue !

    Hello friends, I am new to Struts !!
    My Issue is :
    I have a 5 different pages which has (I am using a hidden parameter in the <html:form>, to specify which table has to be called) a button, on clicking this button ! An excel sheet will be generated and published to user - it will connect to DB and uses Apache POI !
    My problem :
    I want to know is there any facility of Mapping 5 JSPs with forms to map to a single ActionClass! Like Dispatch action, which has one JSP - with 5 buttons can map to single Dispatch action class !
    and how to read a hidden parameter from Form we need to have a ACtionForm for it ?
    These may be trivial but i was googling from 4 hours

    Not really,required using a single DispatchAction would do all you have to do is to write respective methods inside it.I got you, but when we use DispatchAction in struts-config.xml we will be saying input as inputForm, which is single page !!
    <action path="/dispatchActionExample"
    type="com.visualbuilder.DispatchActionExample"
    parameter="method"
    name="inputForm"
    input="/index.jsp" /> You mean to say we can write any input page for the given DISPATCHACTION by changing the parameter ??? Am i right ?? Like
    <action path="/dispatchActionExample"
    type="com.visualbuilder.DispatchActionExample"
    parameter="method1"
    name="inputForm"
    input="/index1.jsp" /> <action path="/dispatchActionExample"
    type="com.visualbuilder.DispatchActionExample"
    parameter="method2"
    name="inputForm"
    input="/index2.jsp" /> so on ..... ????
    Am i right ????
    Thanks in advance !! :)

  • Struts iterator displaying issue

    Hi,
    I am using struts iterator to display data from Hashtable. Everything looks perfect except one issue. logic:iterator tag does'nt displays value of Hashtable sequentially. I have no clue how to set it to display sequentially. Does anyone have any idea how to do that..
    Following is the example. I would like the hastable to be displayed sequentially as it is stored.
    <%@ page import="java.util.*"%>
    <%@ taglib uri="/logic" prefix="logic" %>
    <%@ taglib uri="/bean" prefix="bean" %>
    <%@ taglib uri="/dirview" prefix="dirview" %>
    <%
    Hashtable hs=new Hashtable();
    hs.put("uid","124");
    hs.put("seddomain","eu2");
    hs.put("ntdomain","eu2");
    hs.put("about","sac");
    hs.put("beta","b");
    hs.put("ray","r");
    hs.put("zeta","z");
    hs.put("deta","d");
    hs.put("veta","v");
    pageContext.setAttribute("hs", hs, PageContext.PAGE_SCOPE);
    %>
    <logic:iterate id="match" name="hs">
         <bean:write name='match' property='key'/> : <bean:write name='match' property='value'/>
    </logic:iterate>
    thanks a lot,
    sachin

    Well, as mentioned before, a Hashtable doesn't maintain a record of the order objects were added. I would recommend using an implementation of the List interface (most likely the ArrayList class), rather than a Map implementation (i.e. Hashtable) to store your objects. Lists are maintained in the order in which objects were added. It doesn't sound like you need the Map, as you're trying to iterate through the objects in an ordered fashion.

  • Issues with Deploying Struts application on Weblogic Server 10.3.3

    We are trying to deploy a web application on Weblogic 10.3 server domain. The configuration is we have 2 physical boxes with one box running an Admin Server and one managed Server and the other box running only a Managed server. Both these servers are in one cluster. When we deploy a Struts 2 web application on this domain, it works as expected on the managed server running on the same box and Admin server. However, when we do the same action on the managed server, we get an error. In the application we are using Interceptor and the error we see in the log file is Action Interceptor Result ---exception.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated as we have been struggling with this for a few days.
    Thank you
    Sam

    Sounds to me as if you are saving the users' uploaded images somewhere in your application's directory structure - which is going to get blown away each time you redeploy. Why not store uploaded images in a database (there are blogs showing how to upload and display images to/from a DB in ADF if you don't know how). If you search {forum:id=83}, you can find them easily.

  • Issue with Tomcat + Struts  please help.

    I'm developing in Struts Action Framework using Tomcat 5.5.12 as server, Eclipse IDE with Exadel plugin for Struts development.
    My application right now only uses a single .jsp as my view component. This jsp, called index1.jsp uses <jsp:include page='body.jsp' /> to dynamically include the output generated by my application, in this case a jsp containing the body of the page.
    The problem is that whenever I'm testing my app, the jsp:include tag doesn't seem to find the dynamically generated html, but the ones that are already there... I always have to use the Exadel plugin "republish" feature and then it works..
    Any help will be much appreciated

    Well... sort of fixed it.  Apparently my system doesn't like editing images with a color depth of 16bit.  If I convert it down to 8 when I'm converting it from RAW, then it allows me to add layers... Is this normal?
    Thank you for your time,
    -Tony

  • Frame issue in jsp/struts application

    I have a problem with jsp struts application .
    i have a jsp page which is inside a frame .
    The action class which receives the request from this page redirects the request to another jsp page.
    I want this new jsp page to be displayed without any frame , but it is getting displayed from inside the frame .
    can anybody help me out ...
    regards,
    slam

    Possibly:
    1. Browser could be caching the page.
    2. If you use a proxy, the proxy may be caching the page.
    3. The page is not getting recompiled.

  • Struts commons binary file upload issue

    Hi,
    I was wondering if someone could help me with uploading binary files using jakarta commons file upload. I've looked at several examples and forums and it seems to work but sometimes the binary files that I upload get corrupted. I have no idea why this might be happening. Here is a snippet of my code.
        UploadFileForm uploadFileForm = (UploadFileForm)form;
        FormFile file = uploadFileForm.getFile();
        String dirName = "/tmp/";
        InputStream inputStream = null;
        OutputStream bos = null;
        inputStream = file.getInputStream();
        bos = new FileOutputStream(dirName + file.getFileName());
        int bytesRead = 0;
        byte[] buffer = new byte[4096];
        while ((bytesRead = inputStream.read(buffer, 0, 4096)) != -1) {
            bos.write(buffer, 0, bytesRead);
        }            Am I doing something wrong?
    Thanks.
    PV

    FormFile myFile    = myForm.getTheFile();
        byte[] fileData    = myFile.getFileData();
        BufferedReader in = null;
       try{
           in = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(new   ByteArrayInputStream(fileData)));
           // in = new BufferedReader(new  InputStreamReader(myFile.getInputStream()));
           String str;
            while ((str = in.readLine()) != null) {
                    System.out.println(str);
       }catch(Exception exp){
           exp.printStackTrace();
        }finally{
             if(in != null){
                try{
                   in.close();
                }catch(Exception ep){
                       ep.printStackTrace();
        } Hope this might help :)
    and a small advice please do reactivate archived posts.It'd be lot better if you start with a new one.
