Struts redeploy error
Hi,
I'm getting an error when I redeploy my ear. It's a web application struts based. After redeploy, I obtain a 500 error, and that's the application log:

If I restart the OC4J instance, the application works fine.
Thans in advance
Just an idea.....
Have you bundled the Xerces XML parser .jar file in your project somewhere. I had similar errors once (cannot remember those stacktraces 100% :-) ), and I just removed the XML parser from my project and it worked fine.
(There's already some XML stuff in OC4J, and I believe it's conflicting if you add another version of the same .jar files.)
Cheers,
~Morten :-)

Struts warnings/errors in logs
I took over someone elses project and there are a lot of struts error messages in the logs, what files/reasons is to root cause of these messages.
(1) attribute module must be declared for element type forward - 15:34:09 [Digester (Line: 1439)] Parse Error at line 26 column 76: Attribute "module" must be declared for element type "forward". org.xml.sax.SAXParseException: Attribute "module" must be declared for element type "forward". This occurs so many times it is hard to many anything else of value out of the logs at the moment.
(2) action-mappings - this occurs less often 15:34:10 [Digester (Line: 1439)] Parse Error at line 550 column 21: The content of element type "action-mappings" must match "(action)*". org.xml.sax.SAXParseException: The content of element type "action-mappings" must match "(action)*".these errors are the result of module="" attribtue being present even though the message states that it should be present. Even though the dtd states it is acceptable it obviously should not be used yet until struts bugs are removed for this item. I removed all module entries and the error messages disappeared.

I am getting the below mentioned error when running a portal containing Struts-Portlet in Webloigc 8.1Sp5.
I have tried everything but not able to resolve it, does anyone know how to resolve and how to successfully run a Struts-Portlet application?
Thanks in advance.

weblogic.servlet.internal.FilterChainImpl.doFilter(Ljavax/servlet/ServletRequest;Ljavax/servlet/ServletResponse;)V(FilterChainImpl.java:27)What happens in a Struts Portlet is that Portal calls into NetUI to get the action to forward to. The problem appears to be that the struts-config is not getting picked up or registered with NetUI.
One thing to try is to do inter-op between Struts and NetUI/pageflows first to make sure the struts-config is being picked up and then layer on the Portal layer.

Struts PgFlow error using a RowSet control in WL 8.1 SP1
I created a RowSet Control within an existing WAR and setup a PgFlow process to CRUD my linked datasource.
When i run or view the pageflow it builds and deploys fine and I am able to view the generated main grid.jsp containing all my data in the connected datasource. I can click the 'Details' link and view the details of that specifci row in the connected datasource as well. BUT when i try to UPDATE or INSERT it throws the following error:

Edit of Foreign JMS module in admin console causes redeployment error
A JMS module (-jms.xml) for a foreign JMSServer specifies the url of the real JMS server. I am trying to use a deployment plan to make this url a deployment property.
Following the instructions in "Configuring and Managing Weblogic JMS" and "Deploying Applications to Weblogic Server", I have deployed the module with a fixed URL, and then attempt to edit the url in the admin console. The admin console correctly creates a deployment plan to hold modified value, but then can't redeploy the module due to errors during deployment.
I experience these errors with the module deployed stand-alone, or when bundled with my enterprise application. I also get the same error if I produce the deployment plan using the PlanGenerator.
The error seems to be a bug in the deployment plan machinery, since the xpath it produces for the variable-application does not match the xml schema for <weblogic-jms>. The plan.xml refers to "/weblogic-jms/foreign-server[name="IQN_OLTP_FOREIGN_JMS_Server"]/connectionurl" while the schema defines "/weblogic-jms/foreign-server/connection-url".
Any advice would be welcome.
We are running 9.2 SP3.
The messages in the admin console logs are:

The former, although not really correct XPath syntax, seems to be required for other elements, but in this case, the PlanGenerator emits latter, which is correct XPath, but has the wrong element name.)

TorontoHi
What is the Service Pack you are using in weblogic 8.1?that's WebLogic Server 8.1 SP2
Could you send me the test case which you developed to my mail id?it's downloaded from
http://struts.apache.org/download.cgi
version 1.2.7, unzip the source version, get strut-blank.war.
then via weblogic console, copy the war-file to newly created folder
struts-tutorial and deploy it, testing it via
http://localhost:7001/struts-tutorial/
the error message in the browser is
/pages/Welcome.jsp(2): Error in using tag library
uri='http://jakarta.apache.org/struts/tags-html' prefix='html': The Tag
class 'org.apache.struts.taglib.html.FormTag' has no setter method
corresponding to TLD declared attribute 'name', (JSP 1.1 spec, 5.4.1)
probably occurred due to an error in /pages/Welcome.jsp line 2:
<%@ taglib uri="http://jakarta.apache.org/struts/tags-html" prefix="html" %>
PS
I found (in the internet) many people having similar problem, when using
WL5, WL6, struts 1.1, struts 1.2+

Thanks for helpthanks,
I am having a hard time to find in a struts application where the database connetion is defined
It's when I am running from loging.jsp of VIEWController that it happens.
It's probably a jdbc connection as we have can read in the messages:
oracle.jbo.JboException: JBO-29000: Unexpected exception caught: oracle.jbo.JboException, msg=JBO-29000: Unexpected exception caught: oracle.jbo.DMLException, msg=JBO-26061: Error while opening JDBC connection.
at oracle.jbo.JboException.<init>(JboException.java:343)
but where stands the exact location where this connection has been defined I don't know yet of a way to find it. -

arvindIt's OC4J core install for 9iAS Release 9.02. I've deployed to Solaris since there is a bug that can give this error that is patched for Solaris, but not Windows. The error occurs when navigating pages in a struts app. Sometimes it works fine, then you click on one of the image buttons to go to the next .jsp and this error comes up.

What version of OC4J you are testing on ?
Is it OC4J standalone or Oracle9iAS that you are using.
more details would be helpful in diagnosing the problem.

Are there any struts generated error messages?
When I make an error in my struts logic, the HTML page generation stops at that point and I see truncated HTML pages. However, I cannot find an error message anywhere. For example, I recently didn't define a setter/getter in an ActionForm for an html:hidden field I added to a JSP page, and so struts failed to complete generating the web page.
Is there anyway to get error messages from the struts code on why it fails?
I'm asking because right now I am having to back out changes until I find the offending piece of code which is a slow process, and so I'm looking for a more productive way to find my struts errors. When I make an error in my struts logic, the HTML page generation stops at
that point and I see truncated HTML pages. This is because the page has already been committed, and Tomcat can't redirect to the standard error page.
There will probably be an error message in the log / console. Check the [TOMCAT]/logs directory.
On stopping it: There are two causes
1 - your generated html overflows the buffer and it flushes (commits). Workaround solution - make the buffer bigger for debugging purposes: <%@ page buffer="32kb" %>
2 - you are using tiles, and it flushes after each tile. No workaround I am aware of, but I don't really use tiles much. -

Anyone can give me some hints on where the error is?
i have struts.jar and the other struts related files in \WEB-INF\libI ran your file through an XML parser and the only error was on the line:<set-property property="password" value=null />because there are no quotes around "null". Fix that and try again. If you're using an IDE, there should be an option to validate the XML file which enables you to check struts.config before starting up the app.
