Style of the page

I build all my viewobjects in the same structure file, but the tabs in the header of pages are very wide, so I want to gather it as sub groups and from each sub group i will see the tabs in this subgroup examlpe
In each page I following tabs display (x1,x2,x3,x4,x5,x6)
I want to display only tow tabs in my pages such as (y1,y2)
and from y1 tab I can go to another page, and in this page I can see the following tabs(x1,x3,x4) and from y2 tab I can go to another page, and in this page I can see the following tabs(x2,x5,x6)

You cannot generate this. You will need to change the generated menus post-generation.
Take a look at the generated menu sources, and how they are used in the pages. If you understand how that works, you should be able to change the menu structure post-generation. If you are new to UIX, it might be useful to read the UIX developers guide included in the JDeveloper online help.

Pages is a document-centric editor. That means all you editings and saves will stored in the document. This is why Pages provides templates. It is like heaving a library of documents, sections and objects. So if you need something often, create a template of it and you will have it with two clicks at hand. Yes, it would be nice to have real customer created libraries of paragraph styles and objects or masks, directly at hand by one click like the Pages objects, etc. Maybe this will come in next versions when Pages will grow up more and more.
I can't imagine why the section templates (Pages names it pages, too) doesn't work for you the way I described in this thread. You wrote above you have saved it as a document. Have you opened exact this document and the saved creations were not there? I only want to solve this problem, so please write to us if a saved document template (menu: "File/Save as Template...") with such created section templates are not working fine.
I know it can be frustrated not to achieve the goals easily or not in the way we know right. Pages goes an other way and - despite little adversities - I find the workflow and handling very good. I am missing some features to name Pages a pro app, but I have done some pro designs with it. If you are interested in using Pages further more, I will write an in-depth tutorial about the topic "Section Templates".

I need to conditionally display data in red and with strike-through in a standard report (multi-column, multi-row); in effect some lines will be normal, some in red and strike-through.
I declared a style in the page header
<style type="text/css">
st {font-size: 7.5pt; color: red; text-decoration: line-through}
</style>
and wrapped the data in <st> </st> tags in the select statement based on the condition.
This works fine in firefox but not at all in internet explorer. Because the requirement is based on a condition, I must do this at select time.
Anyone got any ideas? If you have I may also ask how to do it on a manually built tabular form (using apex_item).

In the select, use [span class="st"][span] (or any other suitable tag).
I am surprised your method worked in FF, as "st" is not a standard tag AFAIK.

Hi Rajesh -
Unfortunately you can only change the style of item regions, not portlet regions. If you only need to change the portlet background color there is a little trick you can do with version 9.0.2.6 (I do not have a 9.0.2.2 build to try with)
Place the portlet that should have a different background color on a different page. Set the Style property for this page. The style should set the Common background color as the color you wish to be the portlet background color. In the style, set the portlet background color to NULL (allowing the common background color to show through). In the page properties, on the optional tab, expose this page as a page portlet, and ensure the page does not use the style of the page on which the portlet is placed.
Now expose the page portlet on the page you originally wanted the portlet to show.
Hope this helps. I would be interested to know if this also works in 9.0.2.2 as in 9.0.2.6.

Content Folder Style vs. Page Style

We have everything looking the way we want within the content area. However, when we put a folder into a page via a portlet, the page style overrides the portlet style. As the portlet style give you more options, based on text type, we would prefer to keep this. Is there any way to retain the content folder's style within the page?

We have found the same issue. Ultimately we would like to allow end users to apply page styles over the top of the content area styles. The problem, as you pointed out, is that the page styles do not have the same options as the content area styles.
The issue we have occurs when a content area style has sub headers enabled for regions and categories and they are overlayed with a page style. The page style treats the content area subheaders (all levels) as if they are the same level of subheader. The result is three levels of subheaders that have the page subheader style applied to them. So, if you used three distinct colors for the various content area subheader levels, the page style overlays them with a single color making it hard to differentiate between the content area subheader levels.
We are submitting this to oracle as an issue in hope that they will make the page style and the content area style options consistent.

I am forced to hold shift and refresh the page on 99% of the sites I visit. How do I fix this from happening? If I don't the pages are missing style sheets and etc.

When ever I go to sites they half load or are missing style sheets. If I view the source for the page and click on a style sheet link I get the following error:
Content Encoding Error
The page you are trying to view cannot be shown because it uses an invalid or unsupported form of compression.
If I hold shift and refresh the page loads as normal.
It's happening on 99% of the sites I visit. I have disabled my plugins and add-ons.
I do have some add-ons or plugins that I would like to remove completely but there is no uninstall or remove option, neither in regular or safe mode.

How can I get back the Styles Drawer in Pages 5?

The Pages Styles Drawer allowed the quick highlighting/assignment ot a style to text. In long complex documents the open drawer made Style assignment quick and easy. NO MORE. Unless I am missing some command the Styles Drawer has been replaced by a new and much slower multistep clic/dropdown/click process. Is there any workaround to this problem? Help!

If you want to open a new tab in a certain url (like www.google.com or another site) go to [http://kb.mozillazine.org/About:config about:config] find/type '''browser.newtab.url''' , double click on it (or right click on it and select modify) and type the url you want. Every time you open a new tab you open it in that url/site.

How to update table styles in the new Pages?

Anyone found out how to update table styles in the new Pages? I see it's done in some of the templates that Apple provided, but I can't find it. Also, the Copy table style command is gone, so I can't make my tables look in a uniform way, unless I use one of the built-in styles.

Newspaper style report (multiple column sets across the page)

I have an Answers report that displays the "top 20" and has only 2 narrow columns (name and total). So in the dashboard it looks like a long vertical strip:

It would look much nicer if it was a "newspaper style", where you have more than one column set across the page:
aaa 999 | aaa 999
aaa 999 | aaa 999
aaa 999 | aaa 999
Is this possible to be done using OBI EE? I searched for a "newspaper style" checkbox in the report properties (hoping that it would be that easy) but no luck... I couldnt find any posts in this forum either, maybe I am using the wrong terminology.

yes, this is possible by using a pivot table. assuming you want 10 records per column, you need to do the following:
1) add a column to your report with this formula:
RCOUNT(Column) - 10 * FLOOR((RCOUNT(Column) - 1) / 10)
2) add another column to your report with this formula:
FLOOR((RCOUNT(Column) -1) / 10)
3) go to pivot table
4) add column 1) to Rows Section
5) add column 2) to columns section
6) add the other columns in measures box
7) add aggregation rule to "FIRST" for all columns in measures box
8) put measure label box in rows section under the box of column 2)

CSS on a template shows a different style on the actual web page.

I have created a template and made my sub pages according to
the template. Late I have made some changes to the template and all
the changes (Basic HTML changes) got effected on the pages that
referring the this template.
The I attached a style sheet that does some styling to my
menu area (Which is a non editable area according to the template).
When I update the site the pages didn't show up the expected
styling. Instead they show some different styling.
I am using Dreamweaver 8 and tested the site on both firefox
2 and IE 7.

They do not turn to a light color. There is no a:hover rule
that would

How so I make it so text in text boxes runs in the traditional chinese style. Characters in text boxes should run down the page instead of across the page.

The only Apple app which can do this is TextEdit. Format > Make Layout Vertical

How do I stop a query from running when the page is loaded

I'm using JDeveloper 10.1.3.4. I have a JSPX page that is used to collect search parameters and then when a button is clicked uses those values to run a query and then populate a table on the same page. The problem is that when the page is loaded the system attempts to run the query. The query is a method in a session bean. I can keep the method from running the query code by wrapping it in an 'if' statement and checking the parameters for null (or other value). Once the parameters are collected the query is invoked but it looks like the method is running twice, once with the parameters (here I've checked that the result actually has rows in the list) and then again where the parameters are null and the method returns null.
What is the best way to do what I want here? From the buttons action method I am called the session beam method and returning null to stay on the same page. I think that is why the method is running the second time and returning null.

Also check if your javascript retains after Publishing. Sharepoint will remove malcious code/script html after saving the page and make page safe.
